Mamaroneck, NY
How can this restaurant not have a review? It is really one of the best Italian restaurant of Mamaroneck/Larchmont/New Rochelle and beyond. Even the Yankees go there to eat (allegedly).
We walked into this restaurant serendipitously, so we were not biased with word-of-mouth or reviews. Only later did we find out how quite a few of our friends knew about it. There were three of us, so we ordered two dishes, even when the waiter said it'll be "family sized" (meaning BIG). It was the "Kitchen Sink" and Chicken Parm. Boy were we totally shocked! The portions were mind blowing given their price. What's better, it tastes wonderful! We just couldn't finish. For two guys, one dish is often plenty. It's that big.
We were used to good food usually coming in small portions and with high price tags, and this was totally inexplicable! I don't think we can think of anything quite like it, anywhere around the City. It probably is comparable to Carmine's, where it's also a family styled (and portioned) Italian restaurant with great food. However, Augie's seems to have better service (with people recognizing you by your 2nd visit), bigger portions, lower prices, and at least comparable food if not better in some.
We have become a regular of the place since, and have not yet been disappointed. This place is a must-go on my list of favorites.Listed in: Top Restaurants

Larchmont, NY
I went to Augie's Restaurant with my family. As we walk in the restaurant, I noticed their very nice, cozy, and simple designs. I can already smell the flavors of an Italian food, that really made me hungry. I love their friendly waiters. They were very attentive. The servings are large and it's good for people with big appetite. I tried their chicken. I love the texture of the chicken. It is cooked well and it has a flavorful taste. They had some few selections of wine, and I have to try it.
All in all, the experience we had here was really unforgettable. I am definitely coming back and recommend it to some of my friends. And I have to try the other food selection. -

If you're looking for an old fashioned, family-style Italian restaurant in Westchester, look no further than Augie's! We had reservations for 5 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our service was friendly and prompt from start to finish. As previously mentioned, the serving sizes are huge and sharing is recommended! That being said, all 5 of us ordered different meals and had leftovers that will stretch for days.
Appetizers of fried calamari and seafood combo oreganata were ordered for the table. I did not partake but everyone raved over the sauce in the seafood combo in particular.
I ordered tri-color linguine with chicken and mushrooms in a cream sauce. It was very delicious. I'm told by others who sampled my dish that it was extremely garlicky so beware of that if for some reason you dint like garlic but find yourself eating Italian I guess. I happen to have a very high tolerance for garlic so I barely noticed. The most appealing aspect of this dish for me was the linguine which was cooked to al dente perfection.
Also ordered were the manicotti, ziti al forno, veal and chicken sorrentino, and the sauteed shrimp and mussels over linguine. The ziti al forno was the least favored dish followed by the manicotti while the sorrentino and mussels dishes were well known favorites of those I was dining with.
All in all, a great experience. The food was delicious and if you figure each plate serves around 3 people (they say 2 or more.. with appetizers and the lovely bread basket.. I'd say 3 hungry people comfortably with minimal leftovers) it's also a great price. -

I rarely (never) have a reason to go to Westchester. But tonight I did. I met two friends there and had found this place from reading the previous review on Yelp. It was close and I decided to take them to Augie's. And it was a good damn idea of mine.
The service is stellar. Really nice, considerate, attentive staff. The portions of food are larger than enormous, and my friends probably have lunch for 3 days. The daily special is one giant entree for 2 or 3 people, a gigantic yummy salad, a monstrous, awesome appetizer (sauteed eggplant with marinara and mozzarella is what we had), and coffees and 3 separate desserts. We had chicken saltimbocca for our entree, which was like seriously...9 pieces of chicken. And soooo yummy. For dessert I had the tartufo which was definitely one of the best tartufos I've ever had.
I rarely eat italian food because of its high fat content, and this place was no exception with mozzarella and creamy, garlicky sauces. But my friends LOVED it, I loved it, and I'll just add 20 minutes to my workout tomorrow morning. It was worth it.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there are just no options for health-conscious people. Like none. At least I didn't see any. It's just not the kind of place you go when you're on a diet. And the portions are really big. I like small, delicate, single servings. It's just my own personal taste in food portioning. But that doesn't make the place any less great. So there you go. If you want quality italian food, aren't on a diet, are HUNGRY, and find yourself in the New Rochelle area, I say DO IT. -

Great fun, great food. The antipasto was excellent, and any chicken dish is wonderful. The best was the gnocchi with sausage. Wine selection is limited but great. Since it's family style, you'll get a bang for your buck. They have daily specials, which are underrated. The friendly staff add for a great dinner any day of the week.

Augie's really is as good as it gets. The food and service are both excellent - however be prepared, as they serve family style portions.
If you are looking for authentic Italian food and don't want to go to Arthur Avenue, this is the place to go. I disagree with erica f's comment - they do have salads/vegetable dishes for those who are health conscious. They have a full bar, and the desserts are also great. They can also accommodate large parties - but you need to make a reservation first. Love, love, love this place. -

Mamaroneck, NY
Augie's is a fun place, known for it's large, family style portions. The food is always consistent, hot and delicious. Wait staff can get a bit overwhelmed due to seating of large parties.
Desserts are excellent, especially the cannoli's and Italian Cheesecake. -

My husband did a delivery for the owner of Augie's and he gave him a plate of chicken parm to bring home. WOW! That was one of the best I've ever had!!! The chunks of fresh tomatos, the flavors, the chicken was juicy and just wonderful!!! I cannot wait to go and eat a full meal there!
