I recently took Augie's Photography workshop part 1. The class was very informative and I believe everyone learned a great deal. I personally do not own a full DSLR (Panasonic Lumix) but I as able to use my current camera in the class and to grasp all the concepts that Augie taught. Furthermore, I would definitely recommend this class for people who are looking to buy a DSLR. The class will also assist those who already have a DSLR and want to start learning basic functions. After learning your camera Augie then shows you how to combine them with Augie's key photo concepts.
The class is held in Augie's SF Apmt/office. It is very comforting and inviting plus you get to look at more of his work that is framed on the walls. He has breakfast and lunch provided for the class, which was much needed since we were there from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Augie gets to know everyone in the class and creates a friendly and creative environment. His presentation is well thought out and easy to understand. Finally he allows his students to practice what he preached/taught and then to get our peer's opinion on the photos. Very constructive and helpful in reinforcing what Augie taught. A fun day! -

We searched far and wide for a wedding photographer, but after meeting Augie we instantly knew we had to hire him. Though his portfolio says a lot about him, it's also the intangibles like his personality, his direction, and his professionalism on the day-of that really impressed us. He helped us relax and knew how to get the best from us. The images turned out so beautifully we almost can't believe we're the people in them.
Something to keep in mind ... the flowers die, the food gets eaten, your guests go home, and you only get the venue for about 8 hours. But the photographs are where the day is captured indefinitely, and it's an investment we took very seriously. Needless to say, we love the photos--as do our family and friends--and we couldn't be more grateful for Augie's expertise through it all. Hiring Augie was the best decision ever. -

Choosing Augie to shoot our engagement photos was an easy decision for my fiance and I. Just look through his portfolio. His work speaks for itself. What makes Augie so special and unique is his ability to create images that look completely natural, and images that fit the personalities of whomever he is photographing. The moment I realized Augie was the most awesome photographer ever was when he laid down on a wooden pier covered in bird droppings just to get the perfect shot. We were shocked. Not because he was laying in bird poop....ok well maybe just a little because of that, but mostly because he made us feel so special. Needless to say, the shot came out beautifully.
My fiance and I are not exactly used to posing and having a camera in our face, but 5 minutes into our session he was able to make us feel relaxed and we ended up having a blast during our session. We were blown away with the results. He even sent us teasers that very same evening. Augie is amazing! -

I didn't learn about Augie until years after I got married, otherwise I would have loved to have him photograph my wedding. We use Augie to take our family pictures. We've had three family sessions so far and each time I'm amazed with the quality of photos. The composition and the expressions he captures on my children's faces are amazing. Augie is so dynamic and engaging.
I've also attended the workshops he offers for aspiring photographers. It's the best investment I ever made. He is truly an inspiration and I know how to do so much with my camera now.

My cousin hired Augie for her wedding photos, and after seeing them and being quite impressed with the quality and composition of his pictures, I contacted him with a request that he photograph my siblings and me on two separate occasions. He replied to me promptly and we set up two photo session dates--one in the summer and one in late winter. All transactions over email were quite efficient and pleasant.
During both sessions Augie was dynamic, funny, flexible, and very insightful. The man knows how to take beautiful photographs! He knows exactly how to make people comfortable and let their true personalities and inherent beauty shine through. A good case in point are my two siblings, who tend to be awkward or anxious-looking in photographs. My brother in particular takes TERRIBLE posed photographs--his smile hardly ever looks natural. Augie is one of the few people I know who was able to capture my brother's true smile, and he did so by understanding and encouraging the fun sibling dynamic between my brother, sister, and me.
Augie also has a natural eye for what surroundings would make a good photograph. For our winter photo session he suggested Pier 39 for its variety of background colors and textures. The previews I have seen of these photographs (they are now in the post-photo editing phase and thus I only have teasers) are simply lovely.
Thanks to Augie, my family and I now have a collection of high-quality photographs that beautifully frame and commemorate the close-knit relationship between my siblings me. :o) -

When my husband & I got engaged last April, we knew immediately who our wedding photographer would be - Augie!!! We met him back in 2008 at one of our friend's wedding. Even though we didn't get to interact with Augie much back then, but his professionalism attracted our attention which made us remember him. During our friend's cocktail hour, this guy was everywhere trying to capture every moment that he could. We even have evidence!! He was in a bunch of our pictures! We're talking about pictures that we took on the side with friends during the cocktail hour, how can we forget him?? LOL
As soon as we nailed down our Jan 2012 wedding date, we contacted Augie and booked him right away without a face to face consultation. My husband loves photography himself that's why he is quite picky. He considers our wedding photographer as one of the most important decision in the whole wedding. I'm glad we knew who to pick right away! I'm also thankful that our wedding was in January (slower wedding season), or else it would be impossible to book Augie!
His package comes with an engagement session and we had such a great time during the E-session. Not only did we get to know each other better like friends, he also taught us a bunch of poses that would help us look better on pictures. Augie was able to send us teasers right away that evening and we were blown away after seeing them...we looked amazing! The colors, the composition and the intimate moments were captured so perfectly!!!
Needless to say, Augie & his team were incredible on our wedding day too! Everything was quite on schedule that day, even if it wasn't, he would put us on track so that we won't be behind schedule. He is always thinking about the couple and wants the best result for us. After taking portrait sessions with the bridal party, he noticed that my husband & I were not performing too well...our smiles & poses were kind of stiff. He realized that our bridal party may have caused a disturbance to us so he kindly asked them to leave the room so that we could be more focused. We didn't even realize that until after they left, we seemed more relax and back to taking good pictures. He is so caring & observant!!
We highly highly recommend him for any special occasions that you will need a professional photographer. Thank you for all your help, Augie!! We love you & your work. You're absolutely amazing and the best out there! -

We hired Augie as our wedding photographer this past summer, and we couldn't have been happier with our selection. Augie was simply AMAZING. Since we were planning our wedding (which took place in the Bay Area) from DC, we were forced to meet with potential vendors during a few weekend trips out to SF. As soon as we met with Augie, we knew that he was the photog for us. In addition to having a top-notch portfolio, he just seemed like the perfect fit personality-wise. We knew that our photog was going to be someone that we would spend the entire day with at our wedding, and we wanted to make sure it was someone we were comfortable with.
Augie included an Engagement Session as part of our package, and we decided to fly him out to DC for it so that we'd have a set of pictures in the city we live in and met at. The E-session was a full day of shooting in Georgetown and the U Street Corridor. We could not believe it when Augie actually emailed us teaser photos later that night - talk about a fast turnaround. Clearly, he didn't need to spend days photoshopping his work - he's that good. We were so happy with the pictures and even had Augie produce a signature book using the photos that we had our guests sign at our wedding.
For the wedding itself, Augie and his team were perfect. He came to our hotel and took shots of my bridesmaids and me getting ready, as well as my husband and his groomsmen. Then he took our "first look" and Bridal Party shots at a nearby Japanese Tea Garden before heading over to the wedding venue. Once we got to the venue, we were able to get through most of the planned family shots before the actual ceremony - Augie and his team were so good at wrangling people up and getting the shots done efficiently. The rest of the day and evening were just as perfect as the start of the day. Augie was unobtrusive but still managed to get all of the shots that we wanted.
I HIGHLY recommend Augie. We actually just received our final photos a couple weeks ago, and are blown away by his work. We consider Augie a friend after working together with him, and have anointed him our permanent photog for future events. -

Bottom line, Augie is by far the best photographer out there.
We searched the bay area high and low looking for someone who would make us feel comfortable on our wedding day and would capture moments to remember the day forever. Not only did Augie succeed, he brought many people to tears with his talent.
I'm not the most photogenic person and can tense up and appear glazed with the thought of incessant photos and pending vows. Augie knew right away it was time for an intervention... a tequila shot, or two, or three. That was a brilliant move and necessary for me to loosen up and take some great photos. Our day could not have been more beautiful, and thanks to Augie's discerning eye and raw talent, he was able to perfectly capture the best day of my life.
We are very grateful to have had Augie at our wedding and will always think of him as a friend. I literally cannot count the number of times someone asked who our photographer was and commented on how brilliant his work is.

Confession: I blog stalked Augie for 4 years before I was even engaged because a lot of our friends used him for their weddings, so I knew all along that he would be my wedding photographer. When the time came to plan our wedding, Augie was the only photographer we met with and we pretty much hired him on the spot. It was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.
Initial Meeting: Augie is the consummate professional. He spent time getting to know us, our style, our tastes, our preferences. He knew we were getting married at Casa Real in Pleasanton so he prepared slideshows of past weddings he had shot there so we could get a sense of his work. He wasn't pushy at all and in fact encouraged us to check out other photographers to make sure we were making the right decision, but we just knew he was the one. ;)
Engagement Shoot: The engagement shoot was like a practice session for the wedding, so we could get all our awkward camera shy moments out of the way (and there were many!) Augie knew exactly the shots he wanted to capture, and gave us a lot of direction to make sure we could get it just right. From the angle of our heads to the placement of our hands, nothing was left to chance. When we got the photos back that same evening (!), we were blown away by his ability to capture intimate personal moments in such a natural way.
Wedding: Augie was incredible on our wedding day. He put everyone at ease with his sense of humor, was just bossy enough to make sure we got the photos done beautifully and efficiently. He even helped coordinate our tea ceremony and cake cutting since no one really knew what we were doing. Our families esp my mom fell in love with him because he spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin. Hands down one of the best vendors we had on our wedding day. And he sent teaser photos the same night so we could see them before the honeymoon - when does the man ever sleep??
Photos: Needless to say, we could not be more happy with the over 1,000 photos from the engagement and wedding - they are artistic, gorgeous and captured so many (if not all) our special moments. We also ordered a silk box of prints and album. Everything arrived earlier than expected in typical Augie fashion of underpromising and overdelivering.
Bottom line is if you are looking for a wedding photographer, Augie is your man. Yes, he is pricey, but he is worth every penny.Listed in: Bay Area Wedding Vendors

Who wouldn't give Augie 5 stars? He is a FANTASTIC photographer and it certainly shows in his work. I've been watching his website over the past 2 years and ultimately hired him for our May 2010 wedding because his photographs were beautiful and his style was consistent. It is easy to trust an artist with his work when he does a great job always answering questions thoroughly, always emailing back quickly, and having that consistent style to show you he knows what he is looking for and doesn't need to go artsy-fartsy to get great photos.
One of the perks I did not foresee was that Augie is a very entertaining guy! My now-husband is a little on the shy side with strangers, but he loved Augie's friendliness and quirky personality. Augie has been in the industry so long that he knows how to make people feel comfortable quickly and gives great direction to get the shots he thinks are best. (He is a friend to all women when he knows to point out -- and prevent -- potential arm fat, forehead creases, and other non-flattering features in pictures that will last a lifetime!!!) His wealth of experience is worth every penny as Augie is the cream of the crop in and out of the Bay Area in his professionalism and style/artistic eye. -

I am an avid Yelp user when it comes to looking for restaurants, but had never used it to look for other types of businesses. When my husband and I decided we wanted to get professional photos taken of us to celebrate our 7th anniversary, I thought I'd check the yelp reviews.
I was instantly intrigued by Augie's reviews...all of his previous clients rated him 5 stars. After seeing his website & blog, I knew that his photography style was exactly what we were looking for. Because my husband and I never had engagement photos, he was willing set up an engagement session for us.
I have to say that the reviews are 100% accurate...Augie is truly a remarkably talented & passionate photographer. He is extremely friendly and takes the time to get to know his clients. From the moment we met him, he made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I have worked with a couple other professional photographers who were simply bumps on a log when it came to engaging with clients. Augie made sure to give us some tips before we began taking pictures and also made sure to give us feedback throughout the process. His coaching definitely helped us catch some great shots.
Augie was extremely flexible and gave us that "engagement photo" experience that I had always wanted. He truly captured the love my husband and I have for one another through his photographs and made the day one of my most memorable moments in the city.
If you're looking for a highly professional and passionate photographer, Augie is that person! Although definitely higher on the price range it is truly worth every dollar. -

Augie Chang is AMAZING! He is smart, creative, professional and fun. He is efficient and knows how to get the perfect shot. My husband and I are from Dallas, TX andwanted to have an intimate destination wedding. We considered several locations before deciding on San Francisco. Our decision was solidified after we discovered Augie. Needless to say, we fell in love with his work. After speaking with him on the phone, we were confident that he would be able to capture our wedding exactly as we wanted it. We were looking for a photographer who would have an illustrative approach; taking both classic portraits and journalistic-style photographs. Augie exceeded all of our expectations.
From the moment Augie arrived on our wedding day, he immediately made us feel comfortable. He was enthusiastic and full of positive energy. He was extremely personable and endeared himself to everyone involved with the wedding. He also gave us helpful instructions that brought out the very best in every shot. In addition to documenting the ceremony and taking the portrait photos we requested, he also took several fun candid shots, which really brought out our personalities. Shortly after the ceremony, Augie sent us a few teaser photos that truly captured all of the joy and positive emotions that we experienced on our wedding day. I could not have asked for anything more. They completely moved us and brought tears to my eyes.

Augie was highly recommended by a friend who was also a photographer. We looked at his website and portfolio and absolutely loved his work. They were natural, yet so vibrant and colorful. Since we were getting married in Maui, we really wanted someone to capture the natural beauty of the island. We contacted Augie a year and a half before our wedding date and met him at his San Ramon studio. He was super nice and energetic and offered a lot of great ideas. He was so easy to talk to that we knew we would really enjoy working with him.
We met up with Augie two months before the wedding to do our engagement session. It was such a fun photo shoot and a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. This made it so much easier on the wedding day. Augie also joined us for the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding and captured some great moments of our time with family and closest friends. He also spent a lot of time getting to know our wedding party, which made them so much more comfortable in front of the camera on the wedding day.
On the day of the wedding, I was a little nervous (naturally), but I knew that I didn't have to worry about photography. Augie was professional and energetic, despite the 85 degree weather! He was with us the entire day and captured even moments that we had forgotten about. We have all our photos back and love all of them. They bring back all the wonderful memories of our wedding, I especially love the slideshow, and still look at it every now and then (even though the wedding was 6 months ago)! Overall, working with Augie was a great experience. Aside from the beautiful photos, we had fun and actually got to enjoy our wedding! And no doubt, Augie was a big part of it! Thank you, Augie!! -

I've been holding out on Augie (in terms of writing a review). Trust me, it's been hard to resist! But I wanted to wait until after our wedding day - and now that we're back from our honeymoon - I can safely say that hiring Augie as our wedding and engagement photographer was one of the BEST decisions we ever made!
From the moment we met Augie, his infectious enthusiasm for photography and capturing those special moments sealed the deal. He is authentic and friendly - not to mention an extremely talented artist.
From our engagement session to our wedding day - to many phone calls and emails in between, Augie has been a rock, never steering us wrong and always there to offer useful suggestions.
Of the photos we've gotten so far and the gallery prints we purchased from our engagement session (that are now hanging beautifully in our house), I am so excited for what the future will bring in terms of seeing all of our wedding shots! He already put teasers up on his blog and we couldn't be happier (and that's just 5 photos!).

To my husband and I, the photographer was one of the most important parts of the wedding. I've been to so many weddings where the photographer gets in the way of the wedding, makes people stop and re-do what they just did to get the shot, etc. We did NOT want that. We wanted someone that can handle all the chaos that comes with a wedding without stressing out everyone else.
Watching Augie at work during my sister-in-laws wedding got me very excited. He was easy to work with, very organized and has a talent for taking pictures of the special moments of the day.
We couldn't have ask for a better photographer. During our wedding I barely knew where he (or his team) was at the time. Looking at the pictures now still surprises me at how he got some of the shots. No regrets at all. Augie is fabulous. -

Hmmmmm......where do I even begin?! Well first, I should say, I LOVE Augie!!!! He rocked as our photographer! He was so personable, fun, happy, energetic (but not a spaz) and just an all around pleasure to be around on our wedding day. He did a great job at finding a place to take our pics (at the Presido and North Beach) and took all the pics that I wanted, oh, the bonus, he was fast!!!
To the fast business, we took all the bridal party pictures in about 45 minutes (at most). Like I said, I would be a bit worried, but we had an engagement session with him for about an hour and the pics turned out great. During the day of the wedding, we laughed a lot with Augie which was great, it kept us calm and relaxed....not only that, he's a great guy to laugh with!!!
I know I haven't seen the pics yet, but I know they will be amazing...I fell in love with all of his pictures form previous weddings, and I know I will fall in love with mine as well.
My only regret.....that we didn't book him for longer because toward the end of our reception my Uncle and my hubby had a dance off! You will be amazed by the quality of work that Augie does. Remember, pictures say a thousand words....what do you want your pics to say? -

I've held off on this review until everything was over...and when i say everything, I mean everything. Let's see...we've used Augie for our engagement shoot, wedding as well as both of his photography workshops and in summary, Augie did an awesome job on all points.
I'll start with the engagement shoot. We wanted it done in Boston, because that's where I'm from so we talked to him about it and he was game. We flew out and initially it was a bit awkward because it's strange for us to pose for these portraits. Augie loosened us up and had a great time shooting around the city.
Fast forward 3 months and it's time for our San Jose wedding. The engagement shoot came in quite handy as it's definitely more comfortable posing and working with Augie. Even after the day/night is over, you're wondering how the photos came out. One month later, we receive our goods and they came out great. Augie is definitely talented and has a great eye for photo composition.
Lastly, I took his photo workshops last weekend because we recently got a new DSLR and wanted to learn how to use the camera and take some pimpin photos. The guy is also a great teacher. We were given an overview of photography and then had time to put it into practice.
Definitely satisfied with everything we've done with Augie and highly recommend him to others. -

I know he's married and now so am I, but I heart Augie!!!
We only had to read his blog and meet him in person once to know immediately that we wanted to hire Augie for our wedding last November. You absolutely need to be comfortable with your photographer in order for him/her to capture those moments that tug at the heart strings and Augie fit the bill to a T. He is professional yet friendly with all his clients and he really makes you feel at ease in front of the camera no matter how camera shy you happen to be.
He offers a complimentary engagement session as part of his wedding package a way to get to know you better as a couple and for you to become comfortable with a fat camera lens 5 inches from your face. While we were reluctant to do the e-session initially, we ended up having a lot of fun thanks to Augie who just made us relax with his easy going nature.
On the day of, Augie's a familiar face without being intrusive (which is what you want out of your photographer) and he'll do whatever it takes to get those Kodak moments (even if it means throwing my shoes in the air 5 times or getting down on the ground to get the perfect shot)
Augie's turnaround time is also lightening fast and he's super responsive to your questions (often sending emails way past my bedtime usually!).
And bottom line: the pictures turned out amazing. Our friends and family still ooohh and aahh over the wedding slideshow he put together for us and many of them (including myself) have now become faithful blog followers of Augie. -

Hiring Augie as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process. Augie is so creative, efficient, professional and hilarious! After looking at his work online and meeting him at his San Ramon studio, we knew right away that we wanted to hire him. We didn't even bother meeting with other photographers.
We had a blast shooting our engagement session in Sausalito. There are so many pictures of us laughing :) He made us feel so comfortable. So comfortable that my very quiet, laid back husband was convinced that he was ready to become a model by the end of the e-session ;)
The day of our wedding, Augie and his team did such a great job wrangling family together for portraits that we didn't feel like we missed too much of our wedding. He even busted out some Cantonese for my family and immediately became a hit. During the ceremony and reception, I didn't even notice him taking pictures (a good thing). We recently got our album (we took a long time to send over our feedback) and we love it so much!

When you're a bride, finding a photog that is reliable, responsive and creative is all that really matters. On that day, I hated my flowers but loved my photog! I was annoyed by the fast past schedule and late family members, but I loved my easy-going photog and his hip, fun assistants. Actually the best part of my day was the getting ready shots of me and my homegirls in the morning!!!
Almost a year after I got married at City Hall, I'm still in love with my wedding photos, and still hearing compliments about how beautiful Augie captured the special moments of my wedding.
If I only I could get married every weekend with Augie photographing. Oh well - at least he updates his blog regularly! -

So you're planning a wedding...and you want to make sure that each smile, laugh, and tear is forever and beautifully captured? A bit of advice (from the guy who's been married all of a week - since June 27, 2009)...give Augie a call now!
Picking the right photographer to capture what will become life-long memories topped our wedding planning priority list, and once we viewed Augie's portfolio and met him in person, we knew we had found THE PERFECT photographer.
Augie shot both our engagement session (@ the California Academy of Sciences) and our 14-hour marathon of a wedding. And even though I'm a camera-shy type, Augie made all our shoots super fun, high energy, really enjoyable, and most importantly he made both my wife and I feel very relaxed and comfortable. So much so that one of my groomsman even commented that "It's really cool you hired your friend as the photographer."...this truly speaks to the vibe that Augie creates and relationships he looks to build with this clients (a.k.a friends).
Oh and the pictures, they are of course absolutely wonderful, superb, stunning...need I say more? :-) -

Augie. is. fabulous.
Seriously. He has such a talented eye and takes absolutely breathtaking photographs. He was our wedding/engagement photographer earlier in the year, and we couldn't be happier with the results.
His work is beautiful, but it's his personality that really brings each session to life. He's funny and easy-going; he made us feel immediately comfortable - I think we laughed almost the entire time - which made a huge difference in the quality and emotion captured in the photos.

Augie is an amazing photographer, and so easy + comfortable to be around. Perfect type of personality that you want around on your wedding day! My husband and I highly recommend Augie for your wedding day needs. He was also awesome and flexible in our request for our Engagement session, capturing all of our memories. I don't think there are enough words to explain how amazing Augie is!
When planning my wedding i knew i wanted to focus my budget on two things, my dress & a photographer. True you wear your dress once however if you have a great photographer, pictures of your dress will last FOREVER! We planned our wedding from L.A. and got married in S.F. We didn't even get the chance to meet Augie till our engagement session. He put myself and especially my husband at ease which made way for amazing shots! This got me more excited for our big day.
Our Wedding pictures came out better than I could have ever imagined! I love that Augie's pics are so unexpected and not "typical" wedding pictures. This is exactly what we wanted. I wanted our day to be captured beautifully & Augie went above our expectations.
Essentially if you are looking for quality Augie is the guy. Yes, he will cost a bit more than some other photographers however you get what you pay for and I am so happy that I spent every cent! It has been over a year now since our wedding and we still get comments all the tie of how wonderful our pictures turned out. Or how amazing a shot was. Like I said, you get what you pay for and Augie and his team....worth it! -

Augie came highly recommended by a photographer we know and trust here in LA. We are so happy that he told us about him!! If we could have Augie at every special gathering capturing magical moments we would. From the moment we met him, it felt as we had known him for a long time. He's extremely easy to work with and communicate with. He's encouraging, creative, fun, sweet, professional, organized and you can tell he loves his job and working closely with people... and he has a good heart! How can you top that!? :) In short, would we recommended him? FOR SURE! Would we hire him again? ABSOLUTELY! When it comes time for baby pictures, he's our guy! This review is for Augie's Photography Workshops that he offers to people who want to learn more about photography. I run a floral design company and needed to learn how to take better photographs of my work so I could use them in my blog and portfolio. I took Augie's first workshop last year and I would say that my photos were a million times better after the first workshop. He really shows you how to use your own camera and you even get to go out in the field and try out some tricks. Augie taught me how to deal with different lighting situations and this was key for me. I was having a hard time taking pictures in churches and dark ballrooms.
I just finished up his 2nd workshop and I walked away with even more useful information, tips and tricks. The 2nd workshop really focuses on lighting (again - totally useful!), composition and what he does for post processing.
What I love most about Augie's workshop is how open he is. He's not afraid to share information and encourages you to be creative and to think out of the box. The stuff you learn from Augie would never be something you would get from a typical photography class or a how to book. -

Augie has been photographing our family over the last four years from our engagement shots, through our wedding, family portraits, and more recently, the birth of our son. He's been remarkable to work with: his photos are amazing, his vision is unique and he's not afraid to try something new and different. He's really casual, very personable and has a great way of making you feel at ease in front of the camera lens.
In addition to being a talented photographer, Augie is also an engaging instructor. His "Intro to Photography" workshop was very informative and challenging. I definitely take better photographs because of him! -

I remember back in my first conversation with Augie and he told me that one of his primary objectives is to photograph in a way that tells a story... that our pictures would tell the story of our wedding day. I thought I knew what that meant, but the truth is until I saw the pictures I didn't really know. But I do now... his ability to capture a moment, his eye for the right angle or light... he is simply amazing. His pictures tell our story... of the day that we became "us." I know he has photographed bigger weddings, more beautiful weddings... but my wedding... small and quite simple... was just what I wanted and he captured everything special about the day. I would highly recommend Augie to anyone looking for a truly unique and highly skilled photographer. He is polite, professional and truly cares about making you fell comfortable and relaxed. My husband and I could not be happier!!

We found Augie through Yelp. The moment we saw his work on his website, we knew we would like him to be our wedding photographer. It turned out our instinct was right and we couldn't be more happier.
Augie is simply one of the best. In our limited time working together, he really saw our personalities and adapts his way accordingly. He made the scene fit around us instead of the other way around. When taking pictures, he constantly looked for various adjustments in order to get the right pictures. He also frequently communicated with us, showing us the pictures we took after each session to let us know what we could do to improve the photos in the next session and also to listen to our feedback. The best part was, he did it so effortlessly that we never felt pushed during the process. Our engagement session came out better than we hoped for and we built 100% trust in him afterwards.
Augie's service is expensive, but to us, it was worth it because it's a memory that we will look back and talk about the rest of our lives. It was really our pleasure to work with a talented photographer like him. -

For my husband and I the photographer was the most important part of our wedding day. We knew that we would have the pictures forever to share with family and friends, so we wanted the best of the best. That is definitely what we got with Augie Chang. Aside from the fact that I get to work with Augie at industry events (I work at The Palm Event Center & Casa Real) I couldn't wait for him to be a part of our wedding day.
He has such an eye for great photography. He made my husband and I look like naturals during our photo shoots, which were definitely nerve racking. I'm not one for extremely romantic moments and I tend to goof off a lot when I'm nervous to ease the tension. Unfortunately that is who I am and Augie was able to capture every moment just perfectly, even me in my goofiest moments.
I have 2 younger sisters who I would definitely recommend Augie's services to in a heartbeat. We are quite the wild bunch and Augie fit right in with our family. Another great attribute to his services.
I can't wait for Augie to capture my next big moments in life with his camera!

I've been going on Yelp religiously for 5 years, but I never felt the need to register and write a review until now.
In any industry, there are a small handful of teams or individuals who are in the elite echelon of what they do. When you get a chance to witness them in action and get to experience their work, the feelings that they evoke go far beyond 'hey that guy is great at what he does'. Instead they evoke feelings of inspiration. The kind of inspiration that makes you want to get better at what you do as a result of seeing first hand that there is someone who is that good at what they do. As cheesy as this all sounds, I think we've all experienced this phenomenon to some degree at some point in our lives.
Augie Chang among the elite in his craft, there is absolutely no question about it. Since alot of yelpers are foodies like myself, I'll put it in foodie terminology: Augie is like a Michelin 2+ star restaurant. He's the French Laundry; he's Quince (yeah I know, but in my book it is); he's Restaurant at Meadowood. And like those great places are, they are ego free and unpretentioius while performing for you at the highest level. He's such a nice guy and he makes you feel comfortable and at home. But even those guys don't get as stellar of yelp reviews as Augie. When's the last time that you saw any establishment receive a consensus 5 star yelp review from every reviewer? And no, its not because we are all secretly Augie writing up fake reviews to boost business. He seriously deserves every last star given to him.
That said, he's not cheap so you may not want to call him to come take photos of you every day if you can't afford to. But that said, he's definitely worth it to spend the extra money for on those few very special occasions when you want the eye of an artistic genius to capture those special moments for you. -

Augie was our wedding photographer this past May. Photos are super important to us so picking a wedding photographer was our biggest challenge. But when we first met Augie, we knew he was perfect for the job! He is extremely fun, organized, personable, original, reliable, accommodating... The list goes on and on! Both our engagement and wedding photos turned out FABULOUS! We are so happy that we went with Augie. We can't wait until he photographs our kids in the future!!!

Augie Chang is an incredible photographer. When Wendy and I got married back in February we were referred to him through a friend, and were extremely pleased with the results. Augie has a great way of making people feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera. Neither Wendy or I had been professionally photographed, and it was nice to have a complimentary engagement session to feel comfortable with Augie and each other in front of the lens. On wedding day, he was extremely on point, working well with his environment. I especially enjoy his playful use of angles and points of view. My groomsmen agreed that he kept it fun, and allowed us to be goofy, yet knew how to lock us down when it was time to get serious. I highly recommend him, and although the pricing can be a bit high, he does great work.

Augie is a blast to work with. He makes everybody feel comfortable and everyone at my wedding LOVED him. But just because he has a great personality doesn't mean he's a push over. My wedding had about 400 guests and it helps to have a photographer that is comfortable directing guests and is effective. On our big day he wasn't invasive and being camera shy, it was helpful to not really know he was there snapping photos of us during those important moments.
Booking Augie was awesome. The process was smooth and he responded to our questions via email or phone very promptly. We never felt like we were placed on the wayside. Augie helped us brainstorm how we wanted to shoot engagement session and together we came up with a fun toy store theme.
When all was said and done the photos we got and the slideshows Augie made for us were amazing. Going through our photos now makes us smile and really helps us relive the amazing event all over again. -

Augie recently shot the salon I work at and the results are AMAZING! He transformed shots of just plain old products into wonderful photographs that are beautiful to look at! He also photographed my co-worker's infant daughter.. and the pictures are simply the cutest! He's a friendly guy with great ideas and a wonderful eye for photography. Simply Amazing.
We were recommended to Augie by several different wedding vendors. He has built a great repore in the area and was also able to recommend other vendors to us. We first met with Augie at his studio in SF. It was great meeting with him and we immediately felt comfortable. After meeting with several different photographers we knew Augie was the right photographer for us. He was always willing to answer questions and always quick to reply which was really important and helpful to us. We did both our engagement photos and wedding day photos with Augie. For the engagement photos, my husband (previously fiance) and I had a difficult time selecting a location and Augie asked very inquisitive questions to understand who we were as a couple and we have to say he chose a location that could not have fit us better. Of course, it rained during our engagement photo session, but that certainly did not stop Augie. That evening Augie sent us some teasers that just took our breathe away. Augie continued to help us through this process and designed a gorgeous guest book for us along with framing a beautiful engagement photo for us to display at our wedding. It was truly a pleasure to work with Augie and he did such a fabulous job at our wedding and made it really fun even though we were incredibly nervous! We did not think our engagement photos could be beat, we were wrong! He captured our wedding exactly how we wanted it, he captured our style and flare to create timeless photos that will be displayed in our house as well as our families. We look forward to working with Augie in the future! -

My only regret is not meeting Augie before I got married! I thought our wedding photos were excellent.....until I saw Augie's work. AMAZING! The good news is that we've since had kids and have hired Augie on several occasions for family photo shoots. If you are looking to hire the best photographer in the Bay Area, look no further than Augie Chang. Just check out his website and blog and let his work speak for itself. Oh and I forgot to mention how cool of a guy he is. He makes the whole experience a blast and he's the kind of guy you'd like to grab a beer with afterwards. Augie is THE MAN!

After interviewing seven wedding photographers of various price ranges, experience, and equipment, my wife and I decided to use Augie. Our decision was based on his personality, control and use of available light, and most of all his ability to capture moments.
His personality is so easy-going and professional at the same time. This was consistent from the first meeting, our engagement photo session, wedding day, and up to the final delivery of our photos. He always stayed in contact and explained what next in the process.
Augie will also work with his clients on creating the moment of their dreams. My wife and I realized that we would never have our closest friends and family in the same place ever again. So I asked Augie for a challenging photo of all of our wedding guests in the same frame. To accomplish the shot, he stood on top of a 15 foot ladder. It was amazing how he was able to herd/coordinate/motivate all 175 people to smile and not blink in the same shot!
