15 reviews for Audrey Beauty Salon
went in there yesterday. decent price.--$38 for mani and pedi.
i was really happy with the results. Bridget made me feel comfortable and she asked all the right questions.
this place is on my block so most than likely..i will be returning. i will def ask for bridget again. she was sooo nice. :)
I might have paid $50 for a manicure and pedicure, if the women in this place weren't so blatantly rude to me when I walked in. No way I would suggest patronizing a place which can't even be civil to new customers.
P.S. Trying to respond to the owner's comment but the server is down. I obviously realize there is a big price difference between NY and Thailand. It was the frigid attitude I encountered from the minute I walked in that made me walk back out. Try smiling- it makes for better atmosphere and better Yelp reviews. ;)
I just moved to NYC and one of the worst things about moving is trying to find a replacement for services you previously had down pact in your old city. Waxing is at the top of my list. My old waxer was amazing, so friendly, and so fast. I found Audrey Spa on yelp, so I decided to try it out because it's fairly close and inexpensive, but the waxer I had was all over the place! She would go over areas again and again and once even touched something she really shouldn't need to have touched.
I might return, but request a different woman. If anyone has any tips on affordable waxing in Greenpoint/Williamsburg/Manhattan, please let me know.
The only service I have partaken of at Audrey so far is the regular bikini wax, with the regular wax. I'm in and out in 10 minutes. At $15, it's a bargain! I've had three people (including the owner) wax me and while the experience has been slightly different every time, I've always been pleased with the results.
When summer hits, I'll definitely go there for a Brazilian.
I walked right into this cute Salon on a Monday morning and I was able to get a manicure right away. It's a very clean and sleek place and I loved the Audrey Hepburn decorations. Cynthia sat me right by the window which I thought was cool at first but then the sun started to burn my back. She was very quiet and polite and wasn't much into chit chatting but maybe that's a good thing because she was concentrating on her work.
I liked my manicure BUT I really wish she would have asked me first if I wanted to have my cuticles removed or pushed back. She started removing them before I could say anything, 3 days later and I have hangnails and very crummy cuticles. The paint stayed on and I like the shape of the nails she gave me.
This was the worst waxing experience I've every had. I was sore for a month everywhere the wax had been used. Cute decor, but strange vibe.
Some people will pay an inordinate amount of money on salon services thinking that the heftier price tag translates to less pain or more glamour. Neither is true. Audrey is pretty bare bones: decorations are minimal; they pipe in the radio rather than the chirps of tree frogs (I much prefer this). It's a nice environment, but they still mean business.
Ripping the hair out of my legs is an industrial task. I used to do it myself a few times a year, spreading the process out over two days because the pain was inevitably that unbearable. At Audrey, the entire process took under twenty minutes. Yes, it still hurt (I opted for the "sensitive" wax). It's going to hurt. But apart from a few sections that didn't get picked up by the wax, no hair has grown back. And it's been almost five weeks. This is nothing short of miraculous.
Also, I lost a ring the day I went to the salon. I called and spoke to the owner's husband and he immediately went searching for it. They didn't find it, but it was really nice they made such an effort. If my leg hair ever grows back, I'll definitely be returning.
A new hair cut? A new dress? A new breast augmentation?
No, you silly goose! I got my eyebrows "cleaned up". Waxed to be specific...
Just a few tears, an admonishment for being too much of a pussy to get more of an arch, then I was outta there and ready for my close up.
My advice- spend the extra five for the sensitive wax and be soiree ready that evening.
Five stars, five stars, five stars!
I just recently got a facial at Audrey - the Standard Euro 60 min facial and was quite please with the results. I was 20 minutes left for my appointment and although they were not quite pleased with me, they did not slack on the services. My skin looks great and I feel refreshed. This was my first facial so I do not have much to compare it to, but I was pleased with the results. I also did not have any adverse reactions to any of the products she used which was great considering I have sensitive skin.
The 60 min facial will set you back $72+ tip which is a great deal in comparison to a Manhattan spa but a little on the pricey side for the burg. I think I will try Serenity Spa next and compare my experiences.
Audrey is a spa owned by the aesthetician Yola, who worked at Eve Salon in the village for a zillion years. I've been going to Yola since 1998 for Brazilian and eyebrow waxing while she worked there.
So she struck out on her own and opened a spa. I expected it to only be waxing and facials, as that's what I know her to do, but she's got a team to do mani/pedicures and body treatments such as massages and scrubs.
Yola does an amazing job shaping my eyebrows. Her bikini waxes are quick, clean, and meticulous. She is also an incredibly friendly and attentive person.
I've gone here a few times and like Yola a lot. She's very personable, and the wax itself takes about ten minutes. One thing I often wonder when I go into waxing salons is how people's appointments can last more than ten minutes. I was late for an appointment at Yola, for example, and waited almost forty five minutes for the woman they let go ahead of me. Like, what was going on in there? How much hair can a person have, yaddamean? Anyway, whatev. Only four stars because I have pretty high brazillian waxing standards, and am going to keep searching for a better wax elsewhere in the city.
It is difficult for me to make a rating for this salon. I had a good experience getting my eyebrows done and a terrible manicure/ pedicure. I would give 3-4 stars for the wax, but only 1 for the nails.
waxing: quick, painless, no redness afterwards ( I went for the wax for sensitive skin) good shape and I get my eyebrows tinted and they're just the right color. The rooms aren't impeccably clean and the whole experience is pretty no frills, but is close to my house and my eyebrows look great, so I am a satisfied costumer!
nails: This was one of those nightmare experiences where the whole time you really feel like you're putting this poor person out by having them do your nails (the service that they offer!) Most of the time she stared out the window, at one one point jabbing me with the callus file she was using. She would sort of throw some paint on, get it mostly on my nail and a lot on my skin and remove it afterwards. When I asked her curve the paint around the top of the toenail (I know I sound crazy picky, but it will chip if you don't!) She was really salty, said she had done it (when I could plainly see she hadn't) and then begrudgingly did it. Unfortunately it already has chipped anyway and it is just day 2! She was also too rough with the cuticle clipper and I have a sore on my finger today. For both the manicure and pedicure it was $36, I feel like you could get better for cheaper, or much better for just a little bit more. I wish I could remember her name because it may have been one of those cases where another manicurist at the same salon could be better. (I did notice that the other woman, I think her name was Magda, was taking her time, even nice to her client and painting on the nail!)
Nice little spot on South 3rd! I've gotten a few manicures and a pedicure done at this day spa (and once a manicure done by the owner herself)! The staff is nice and attentive. And they even give you a set of nail files after you're done so you could bring it back the next time. I've always been happy with the service here. Maybe next time I'll treat myself to a massage and a facial...
Audrey is EXACTLY what the Southside of Williamsburg needed. A clean, professional, and reasonably priced spa/salon. Yola, the owner, couldn't be any more gracious and lovely. And she kicks ass at waxing. She's been waxing for 20 years so you know she's a pro. I won't let anyone else on the planet do my bikini lines anymore. She was swift, chatty...and left no strays behind. And believe it or not, my bikini wax was virtually painless. Go go Yola!!!
The best wax ever. I met Jola at Eve on Bleecker St years ago. Now she's got her own beautiful place on Bedford! I always get a full leg + bikini. She is the fastest and neatest and nicest. As her apron says---WAX QUEEN. She sure is! And it's the most affordable wax I've found anywhere. I began my waxing journey on 57th St with those famous and expensive Brazilians. Jola's the WAX QUEEN.. dont go anywhere else!
