Review from Heinrich Z.
Austin, TX
The best amp-tech in Austin hands down.
Took in a frankenstein Fender Bandmaster Reverb TFL5005D. Jack opened it up immediately and explained everything that had been modded
on it. He pulled out some schematics and set about restoring the original Leo Fender design. The amp needed a host of updates, and Jack explained everything clearly.
I learned a hell of a lot just sitting there and watching him. He's old school and he gets it done the right way. One day after taking it in, this amp sounds perfect. -

I went in there with a busted audio jack for an Ion turntable, a pretty small-scale job compared to what they normally do, but Jack was happy to solder on a new audio jack. I think he also set a new land speed record for dropped F-bombs. Totally amazing shop, totally amazing people, pure Austin by way of Boston.

I stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon with a dead solid state keyboard amp, and not only did Jack open it up and replace a blown fuse while I waited, he gave me a very honest price and a good all around experience. I'll recommend this shop to my friends.

I met Jack after seeing the "amp repair" sign on first street and wandering in to see if he could fix my relatively inexpensive car amp. He was very straight forward and told me it basically wouldn't be worth fixing because he would have to spend time figuring it out which would probably cost more than the amp anyway. He even went further to suggest I find an authorized technician who specializes in only that type of amp as it would certainly be more economical. After discussing my old Carver PM 1.5 amp with him, I learned that Jack specializes in vintage and professional equipment - the stuff thats normally worth repairing. He was a really nice guy, and even showed me around his shop while telling me about how he "cut his teeth" on Carver amps in the early 80's. While my cheap car amp will probably have to just be replaced, I will certainly bring my more expensive equipment to Jack as he really seemed to know his stuff.
