A Supremely Classy auto museum. The building is actually an old factory showroom, complete in its intricate art deco glory.

This museum focuses on cars made in Indiana (all the good ones used to be made here--Deusenbergs were the Rolls Royces of the earlier part of the century). But you'll also see all sorts of other rare cars, too. The last time I went, they had a Tucker on display--one of the most rare cars ever.

I particularly enjoyed how they had the cars displayed like they would have been displayed in the showroom many decades ago. You really feel like you are stepping back in time into the golden age of roadsters.

If you appreciate hand-built automotibiles, then this is a veritable art gallery of fine pieces--probably the best collection in the country.

If voluptuous, powerful cars of yesteryear make you giddy and excited like a little boy (or girl) you need to figure out how to get to this museum out in the pastoral hinterlands of northeast Indiana.  My dad and I stopped here on the way to get a rototiller fixed and spent a fantastic afternoon looking at three brands that spelled power and beauty and are sadly now missing from American life.  The collection is located in an original Art Deco building that served as the headquarters of this company that succumbed to car company consolidation. If you love cars, you need to find a day to check this place out.  It's a feasible day-trip out of Chicago, Indy, or Detroit.
