This is a very reliable delivery place of mine for game nights. I love their wings (which are fried unbreaded, just like buffalo wings should be cooked) but are occasionally overcooked. They are good enough to give me all drums at no extra charge, and delivery times are good.
The waffle fries are unique and delicious here and their beef chili is quite tasty, especially with cheese and onions. Unfortunately the nacho chips are like cardboard.
Definitely a regular spot for me! -

*please read my previous review now since this is an update*
Today (Friday) was round 2 of Atomic Wings....
I ordered the following:
1. cup of beef chili with Atomic sauce and bacon $4.25 before tax...:
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
This time I made sure to get Atomic sauce for spice and it was better than last time. The hot sauce came in a container and it was indeed hot:
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
However it lacked depth in flavor and seemed like an extra strong Tabasco. It was still pretty good though as i crushed the complimentary tortilla chips and threw them into the cup to enjoy...
2. mac & cheese for $4.99 before tax:
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
The mac and cheese was very dry and uneventful as it lacked flavor. I've had mac & cheese a bunch of times and it's always been a flop. I think my taste buds no longer enjoy this type of dish...
Summary: I still think Atomic is a 4 star joint as their portions are huge with reasonable prices. I've got to stop by to try their BOGO beer deal soon as drinking complements this food extremely well...1 Previous Review: Show all »

Richmond Hill, NY
I'm so on the fence about this place. It's a little inconsistent but overall the wings are good, as are the waffle fries (even better with a side of cheese sauce!) and they have a 2 for 1 special on beer.
I noticed there have been a few times where some of the wings are partially cold. It's really strange b/c it's not the whole piece of chicken that is cold but one end of the wing or drumstick. I'm not sure how that happens.
Had the turkey chili a time before and it was tasty (comes with tortilla chips), but this time I ordered a bowl of it with mushrooms & sour cream and it was so bland and no hotter than room temp!! We waited awhile for this to come out too. The sour cream comes in a container on the side and not on the chili like I expected, not that it mattered since the chili was hot enough to melt in the chili.
I think this is more of a take out/delivery place. Don't expect to get great service, not that attentive after they bring you out your order but they are friendly. -

What? 50 piece wings are usually $39.99 but on Superbowl Sunday they're jacking prices to $54? That's a 35% price hike! You think they'd be advertising Superbowl specials! Not Superbowl price hikes! Yikes! Atomic wings is generally ok for that occasional buffalo wing craving for myself since they have decent wings and deliver to my apartment. But this weekend for catering purposes I decided to bypass Atomic Wings this one time and picked up my order from Lansdowne Road which I heard had great buffalo wings (and for slightly less $ for that matter). Doesn't mean I won't order from Atomic wings again for myself.

I ordered 50 medium spiced wings for the Super Bowl and they were dry and bland. I actually had to buy a bottle of Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce to bring them back to life. Disappointing.

Review from Cory A.

This was my first time here. My observations:
- Don't go here looking for ambiance. It's got the ambiance of a Subway or a Chinese take-out place.
- Wing sauce variety is decent for a wing place. With a lack of great wing places in the area, it suffices. I got the Abusive and it made my head sweat after about 7.
- I ordered "wings" and apparently that defaults to boneless breaded wings. This was a huge disappointment, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Next time I will be sure to specify wings on the bone (as they are non-breaded and my preference).
- They provide you with a very adequate amount of celery, carrots and blue cheese.
- The price was too high by about 33% in my opinion. I spent $20 on 20 wings, where I could spend $15 most other places.
Definitely give the place a try, but if you're not a breaded wing person, be sure to specify. -

The wings were very good but I have had just as good wings before, blue cheese is heavily watered down. Food was cold, certainly not worth the 1.5 hour wait for delivery. Too $$.

I always expect to love this place more than I end up lovin' it. I've gone here a dozen times now and every time SOMETHING is wrong. Their ice machine is broken, the wings are cold, they won't do half an order a different spice, the horseradish sauce tastes like honey mustard, there's not enough sauce on the chicken, and the sodas from the cooler are rarely cold. They also won't stamp my card for two meals when my husband and I eat together. Now he has his own card and we pay separately - THAT'S STUPID! My husband is already over it but goes sometimes to appease me. He says their wings are "shriveled." Tis a bummer.
I dunno, I guess I've lost that lovin' feelin. -

Waffle fries are amazing but everything else is not so great.
I had the lunch special with 6 wings and waffle fries.
The wings werent so great. some were too crisp and seemed too burnt.
But the waffle fries are absolutely amazing. -

I don't know. When I order from a place called Atomic Wings I would expect that the wings would be atomic-lly excellent. This place failed to deliver that experience. Yes, I ordered the boneless wings, but still they should be amazing. Instead I got dry chicken- which is disgusting. Like, inedible. I can say the sauce is good. So, I guess I paid for their wonderful sauce. And their OK waffle fries. My husband liked their regular wings- so you get another star. My general feeling is = meh.

It's close to where I work so the b/f and I ate dinner here tonight.
Gonna give it a solid 3 stars.
Cons:
It's clean
Magazines to read which is cool
The waitress was nice, and attentive since it was dead empty.
2 for 5$ blue moon....hell yeah:)
Loved the honey mustard sauce on the wings
ALOT of sauce on your wings....
T.V screen
WAFLLE FRIES!!!!!!
Cons:
Boneless wings are kinda small and scrunched up. Also a bit over cooked...but ive only been here this one time, so it could have just been my experience.
The mild sauce was to hot for me to eat. Mild should be MILD not hot.
You can't half the sauces on an order, like 3 honey mustard, 3 mild. Sigh.
Fries were a bit cold.
It's just a cool spot. If your in the area, and want wings, i'd go. They have trivia too so I'll definitley be back for that. Trivia, cheap wings & Beer....yay! -

Service. Excellent.
Food. enjoyable.
Buffalo chiCken sandwich that they claim to be the best in NYC. Small at best. and the hottest hot sauce they have... comparable to Habanero Tabasco sauce but maybe not even that spicy. Leaves your mouth with a good tingling sensation. It's good but not what you would expect of the hottest sauce at a place called atomic. and the forewarnings of the waitress.
Other pros: beer was 2 for 5 dollars
Cons: If you only get one beer its 6.50 (go figure) -

This would be a 4-star update if it weren't for the jerks working in the kitchen (pun intended, as you will see).
I went back with another coupon offer and ordered take-out (star for allowing that though the coupon said dine-in only!). The gal at the register let me order a larger platter but split the flavors (another star, since the menu doesn't give the option!). She was even extra nice and ran back to the kitchen to make sure the guys honored her split-flavor request (+2 since she told me that the kitchen staff don't like that particular request).
My food came out in a timely manner and was packaged well enough to get home without a spill.
But the jerks in the kitchen wrote "Jerk :-P" on my jerk bbq wing box. Had they written the flavors on all of the boxes and had I not known about their pre-existing 'tude towards doing their job...no biggy. But this was the only box out of three which they wrote on. It ain't rocket science.
But that's the first time I've ever had an issue after many visits to this location. So I'll chalk it up to experience and check my bag in the restaurant next time so I can call them out on the spot :-)
Anyhoo, diatribe aside, I still think they're one of the best and most consistent options for wings and fingers in the city!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I'm not a huge wing person, so I'm not the best person to be reviewing a wing place. I suppose this place is ok, but it's definitely not worth going back. Nothing I had was good, the service was terrible, and all of our glasses were dirty. With so many other places in the neighborhood, don't waste your time.

Pretty good wings. Nothing amazing to go out of your way for but we got a great deal via Groupon.
If you can handle any bit of spiciness, definitely get the "abusive" as their "hot" is barely mild and fairly flavorless. The "abusive" was pretty good...but to me, its just wings. I'm not all to fond of wings, especially not regular plain old buffalo wings when there are places like Kyochon or UFC. I just eat stuff like this once in awhile to be fair to the bf.
It'll fill you up and works if you're craving buffalo wings. The cashiers are pretty friendly as well. However, as stated, definitely nothing to go out of your way for. -

I ordered boneless wings, waffle fries and chocolate cake. Not my usual diet, but an emotional binging moment. So the food arrives cold and stale. It seemed to be someone else's order that wasn't accounted for, so they decided to give it to me. That's what it tasted like.
Nothing tasted fresh. The wings were hard and dry. The only good thing was the seasoning. The waffle fries were like grease potato chips -- hard, cold and crunchy.
After that horrible meal, which I trashed after a few unbearable bites, I moved on to the cake, reluctantly. It was covered in melted cool whip, so it was soggy. I didn't ask for the cool whip, and if they wanted to add that, why not put it on the side?!
I typically do not order from restaurants I've never seen in person in NYC due to some shady places, but I wanted to try something different than my favorite, Best Burger and Fries restaurant. What a mistake. $18 wasted.
Never again. -

OK- So I love wings!!!
They have always been my weakness, but you know what? I have been good all these weeks and I think it's fair that I indulge for a little.
The wings are good- not the BEST I have ever had, but I will tell yo something that impressed me:
The sauce was really good, and rich....I had the medium buffalo sauce and the jerk BBQ sauce...Very nice with a good kick to it....
And also, the chicken tenders, were very meaty, and juicy...Also, you can order a nice cold Corona to go along with your wings, and a cold beer is always the thing to go with the wings.....
The service was also good, and pleasant.....Will definitely come back here again!!! -

I've been enjoying their wings for sometime, and it's so simple to call them up or order off seamless. Each order of wings comes with the complimentary celery and carrot.
The wings itself is juicy, with the right amount of sauce. I love the sauces offered.
If you want to go the healthy route they have salads, and their chicken salad is yummy but don't miss their wings!!!
Can't wait for the next time I crave Atomic and e-order or call an order in!!!
(From my blog-post this past Superbowl)
Baby's second Superbowl and we ordered Atomic Wings from their 528 9th ave location. It was packaged in a reheat-able aluminum container, packed with ample blue cheese sauce and celery & carrots. We wanted everybody to be able to enjoy the wings and we ordered the medium sauce. It was still a bit spicy for some... but I found them fabulously right. -

The waffle fries are the spotlight of the review; the wings, not so much, which really shouldn't be the case. The wings were a good size, and I was happy that they gave me more drumsticks than flats - they require too much effort to eat!
The sauce was not good. Granted, I ordered Hot, which was not hot at all - I should've known better to order something that packed more heat. The thing that turned me off the most was that the sauce was so overpoweringly pungent from the sourness (Tabasco?) that I really couldn't enjoy it as much. It's not that I don't like buffalo wings - I've just had better. On top of that, I expected crispy wings drenched in sauce, but instead I got soggy wings. I missed the crunchiness! Thank goodness for the waffle fries, which were hot, crispy, and completely satisfying.
Service is friendly and attentive, but it doesn't make up for the fact that my wings were boring and not fun to eat despite the tangy punch. -

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! I was at my friend's apt 36th, btw 2nd and 3rd and we ordered the food, it took over 2 hours to get there, we called and called, and when the damn lady actually picked up she was extremely rude and didn't tell us the progress on our order..until the last call...over 2hours..I understand it was the playoffs night on a Sunday, but over 2hrs without any sorry is not acceptable. AND, they got the order wrong..we ordered 10 wings and 10 chicken fingers, we got all wings and no extra sauce, horrible..the food was of course freakin cold by the time it arrived, NEVER AGAIN.
Stay away or at least don't get delivery from this location. -

The fries are good ! Chicken wings are decent, didn't impress me but it wasn't disappointing either.
Price: $-$$
Service: self serve
Ambiance: casual
Groups: it's a narrow place with seating against the wall, I would say 5 people is snug, unless you combine the tables.
Would I come back? sure! if you want wings, it's a decent place. -
Review from Miriam W.
After closing the door for the last time on my Manhattan apartment, I did not head to either of my favorite local haunts (Half King, Izakaya Ten) for a final goodbye. Nor did I travel uptown to the East 40's or downtown to the East Village for ramen, katsu curry or yakitori. It may come as a surprise, but I also didn't get a reservation at Per Se or Momofuku Ko to bid New York farewell from a covetable seat.
Instead, I checked into my home away from home, popped open a bottle of bubbly and ordered some buffalo chicken fingers (a recent obsession of mine that no one seems to understand) to be delivered. These spicy bits arrived in short order and were supremely satisfying. The veggie burger less so but really, what was I thinking ordering a veggie burger from a joint called Atomic Wings? Obviously, an amateur move...
But you know what? I'm not sure there could've been a more appropriate capstone to my 16 month tour of duty in the center of the universe. -
Review from Tony C.

I went for their mild wings. I may lose a few friends for saying this, "These wings are surprisingly ordinary." There, I said it, phew! And, it's not like the wings are bad; they're not bad. The wings are good, but they're not great. I've tasted similar buffalo wing recipies elsewhere. They don't live up to the hype. In conclusion, these are very good wings; I blame my disappointment on the hype. If you want classical buffalo wings, good sized pieces, and a fair deal (10 pcs for $9), Atomic Wings is your place.
Atomic Wings Chili
This was a very hearty chili, big chunks of everything. It comes with a side of very good tortilla chips and your choice of one free topping(additional toppings are $0.75 extra). I went with sour cream & fresh diced onion. These toppings compliment the chili perfectly, although next time I'll have to include the cheese topping as well (and, yes there will be a next visit :)
All this comes served up in, what can only be described as, an authentic chili bowl.
Waitstaff is very kind, courteous, and attentive; a step above the rest. -
Review from Ting S.
I consider getting wings from here on almost a weekly basis, but they're so gluttonously good, I just can't allow myself to indulge that often! Also, not the cheapest.
My mouth is watering as I write this review.
In some instances, size is everything, and boy does this place deliver! Wings are huge and meaty, smothered in delectable sauciness. All the way on the opposite end of the spectrum from the dry rub type wings. If you get take out from here, the aroma is quite potent. The smell will taunt you down the street, turn heads in the elevator, and definitely draw envious looks on the train.
If you need any winter insulation, or just need more reason to go to the gym, the waffle fries are the most rewarding way to slap on that extra layer or provide incentive!Listed in: I love wings and fried…

So I'm walking northwest of my regular lunch quadrant and decided to come here with some coworkers who were into spicy food. It's not as spicy as you would think, the hot is medium and anything above that does get spicy.
I did like how they cook the wings and fingers, I'd recommend coming here after 5 when you get 2 beers for 1, but I've got to check the schedule.
Located a block or two below the port authority bus terminal, it's a good place to start your afternoon coming from the terminal while going to see a concert at MSG. -

The wings here are hot, no joke. They have six levels of hot split into two categories (sane and insane.) I got the lowest level of insane (I think it was called abusive.) I figured that nuclear and suicidal were a little too hot for my first experience there. (Also, nuclear appeared to be less spicy than suicidal, which to my way of thinking is backwards. A suicidally hot wing would only effect one person, but a nuclearly hot wing would bring much bigger problems.)
In any case the Insane-abusive wings were hot enough that my eyes stung a little just from looking at them, and when I had to sneeze midway through, using my hotsauce filled napkin to cover my nose wasn't anywhere close to a viable option. But they were tasty. Next time I may get something boneless so I can eat it without turning my fingers and face orange.Listed in: Port Authority - not just a…

Dear Stomach,
I apologize for feeding you so many yummy waffle fries. The chicken littles and honey mustard sauce were just mediocre though, so I decided to fill up on those instead. They are great, but I know you can't handle so much heavy fried food. Please forgive me. Unfortunately, just like I was lying when I said I would never drink again after it made you feel yucky, I'm lying when I say I'll never eat fried food again. I might come back for more waffle fries, but they will be alongside something tastier and not so fried and mediocre instead.

I LOVE Buffalo wings and working in mid-town there aren't a lot of non-big chain fastfood options, so I couldn't wait to try this place. I like my wings hot so I ordered the Atomic wings. They certainly smelled pungeunt, but I didn't think they were that spicy on my initial couple wings, but by the fourth wing I was perspiring heavily. These wings were definitely a notch above other wings in the spicy category but could have used more sauce, and I felt that flavor was not as good as Down the Hatch. Over all though, these are some damn good wings. The Wafer fries are incredible, and should definitely accompany any meal here.
One other note: Unfortunately, I opted to take out my order and eat at my desk. By the end of my lunch I was sweaty, covered in sauce, and you can smell these wings a mile away. If you are eating these on your lunch break, eating at Atomic Wings may be a better option. -

Good wings, though I am not brave enough to try the top tiers of spiciness. Some guys 4 tables down got them; my nostrils were seared by the smell even from a distance.
Sodas come in a can; water is in a pitcher. Fries come as waffled. Food is delivered to your table, though it's not exactly waiter service; enough to warrant a tip though. The veggie burgers are good, so are regular ones. Wet naps and mayo for your fries are freely available. It's always clean, even the single bathroom.
During the winter, they hang a heavy curtain over the door and whip out a heater, keeping the place comfortable. Like you'd need any help with heat after a plate of wings. -

I've been here several times, my favorite when we're in this neighborhood. But, I never notice the other items in their menu. You only go here for the wings, dude! (Okay...and throw in some waffle fries, too.) I'm glad they are generous with their celery. It's a good way to counter the spice.
I like eating here as opposed to their branches found inside a bar. My personal preference. It just makes it all about the wings, I guess.
Well, now that I'm so far away, I've learned to cook my own delicious version of finger-licking nuclear wings! Say hello to Frank's Hot Sauce, soy sauce and lemon ( or lime)!!!Listed in: Hot Wings

To me if you name your restaurant Atomic Wings you should have kick ass wings. These are okay, not great. You can get them very, very hot. But heat in and of itself is not flavor. The wings tend to be dried out at times. That's not to say they don't have things worth ordering. The beef chili is great and reasonably priced under $6. The Buffalo Calamari, the salads, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich all good. Chicken Soup is good but why use spaghetti in it? You can't get it on a spoon. The waffle fries and Onion strings are good. Atomic Wings is reasonably priced and decent eats, no more, no less.

Who'd have thought there were still places that specialized in chicken wings given that every bar known to man has them on the menu?
I found the medium wings and waffle fries to be very good. It would be a great choice as take out/delivery if you were watching sports at home.

We went here after we left the NY Auto Show. My kids were talking about this place the entire train ride into NYC. When we got there, the wait staff greeted us and were nice.
The food came and it wasn't the same as last year. The wings with hot sauce just tasted off, they weren't tangy/spicy as I remember. We also ordered a calamari dish that fish tasted frozen and processed. It wasn't too good. The plain wings were good but wings should be like potato chips, you can't put them down. Next years auto show we'll look elsewhere. :(Listed in: Hell. Hell is for Children., BBQ in my NY city

Best wings I've ever had. Nice and meaty. Sauce tastes fantastic. My one complaint is that sometimes it seems like they don't put enough sauce on them and they are a little dry. Rarely happens, but I've encountered it.
As others have mentioned get the waffle fries too and sop up any spare wing sauce with them.
Cost-wise, well you won't find a 10 cent wing deal here, but it's not killer, maybe a touch higher than any other wing joint. Very much worth it though. -

I checked this place yesterday and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this place.
The only negative I saw of this place was the wings were a little dry and they don't provide any sauce on the side.
The wings were tasty and the waffle fries with cheese were great. One of the better spots to check out wings in NYC.
