2 reviews for Atlantis Marine World Aquarium
This aquarium is very clean and well maintained. It is themed to the legendary lost city of Atlantis. It's worth a day trip to Riverhead at the last exit on the LIE. The layout is indeed small and poorly configured. The admission price will definitely break your bank account with a whopping $19.00 per adult.

Absolutely awful. Expensive, poor layout, and designed to force you into extra expenditures at every turn. For some reason the powers that be decided that an "Atlantis" themed aquarium was the way to go - only they added in Snow Monkeys (complete with a creepy Dr. Zeus statue) as well as an archaeological "dig" to discover Atlantis... and some dinosaur bones as well.
The place is a rip-off. After paying $19 each for my husband and myself, and an INSANE $16 for my 3 year old son, we were then subjected to more attempts and sucking money out of our wallet at every turn - $2 to feed the rays in the petting pool, 50 cents to feed the Koi, $4 to ride the "submarine," and it kept going. The exhibits a re small and reminded me of the zoos of yesterday before people started designing animal exhibits that were bigger and more humane. the signage and information were often lacking completely or contained weird "Atlantis" history that was not factual in any way.
Save your money and take a walk along the river or go for a boat ride. It will smell better and you'll feel better.
