Really, really like this place. We had Smokehouse Bacon Cheddar Burger, Crabcake Reuben, Mac and Cheese, and Sweet Potato Fries.

The only thing we didn't care for were the sweet potato fries -- they are thick cut and probably out of bag. Everything else was very good though. I got the burger and really, really liked it. It was obvious the hamburger wasn't frozen and the patties were handmade. I guess in it's an NC thing that burgers be well down -- which is how I prefer, but even well done it was juicy and tender. Husband loved the Reuben - crab cakes with swiss cheese and  slaw. My daughter's mac and cheese was definitely homemade and good. I thought the whole thing was a bit dry, but the flavor was excellent.

This is definitely a cafe. You walk in, look at a menu, go up to a register to order and pick up your food. Maybe it is different is peak season, I don't know. We'll probably go back sometime this week for coffee and tea -- they have a whole coffee shop vibe happening with free water and wifi. If I lived around here, I would probably hang out here. Seating is indoor/outdoor -- and the whole place is bright and clean.

The best for a quick breakfast. Try the banana nut muffins and breakfast wrap.

Comfortable atmosphere. Very friendly people. The mahi mahi was so delicious! Had to go back a second time during our 1 week stay in OBX!

Great little place for lunch, food was great, we went there multiple times in the course of our 1 week vacation.

Good outdoor and indoor seating.  Maybe a little pricey, but comparable with everything else on the island.

I had the fried fish sanwich which was so full of bones, i couldnt eat it.  Save your hard earned money, and eat anywhere but here.

We took a trip down to Ocracoke while we were on the islands, and stopped in at the Atlantic Coast Cafe for a late breakfast.  It was a great little diner in a classically OBX looking beach house, and had a wraparound porch for outdoor dining.

They are dog friendly!  They've got faucets outside so you can get water for your dog bowls, and lots of little areas perfect for our four footed furballs.

The food was done well - I had an omelet, while the hubs had a french toast sandwich of sorts - and both had bits that once you tasted, you had to taste some more of it. Definitely recommended!

Cute, casual cafe right off Rt 12 in Waves. It's pretty small inside, and you order at the counter and they'll deliver it to your table. Beer and wine only.

Ate dinner here - the fried shrimp is really good - crispy and fresh. This would probably be terrific for breakfast or lunch.

Always stop here when passing through Waves.  The quality of all the food and drinks is very good and the service is quick.  You can sit in the shade outside or enjoy comfortable seating inside.  Free wi-fi is also a plus.

My only comment is many of the items are just a little smaller than you'd expect and the prices a little higher.  I know food is pricey down there, but I had a cuban sandwich (small sandwich, no fries included), bowl of soup and an iced coffee and my bill was $18.

It is very good though, the specials are nice, and the breakfast is appreciated.  I wish them well and just learned on Yelp that they now have an Avon location as well.

Everything I've had is very good. If you're really hungry get a side item or ask for suggestions on more filling items.  Really is a nice little place they've built.

Just as the name suggests, this is a cafe, not a real place for sit-down dining. If it is a nice day, I suggest you sit out on the porch. You have nice sound views from there.

The fish sandwich is huge and could be shared. The reuben isn't really worth it. The fish tacos are excellent. Sandwiches run around $10 and come with chips and a pickle.

This summer, after watching the sunrise over the ocean, we headed here for an early breakfast.  One of the few places open in the area that early in the morning. Food was plentiful, hot and tasty.   Only complaint was the vast amount of polystyrene/plastic/paper dishes - would like to see a more environmental approach.  It seemed out of place on an island that has eliminated plastic shopping bags at stores!

Tourists need to understand that in the tri-villages stretch, no restaurant is cheap. Atlantic Coast is one of my favorites though. Their wraps and tuna sandwich is great. And let me tell you, as a former employee of the owner, this place is run well. The owner/manager has a great work ethic- meaning you are getting top notch food from great cooks with great service.  And cleanliness is never an issue.

It's a great sit down restaurant for families and average sized parties; however, I'd recommend take-out for very large parties. Overall, it's a must have for island dining.

Went there for lunch -- it was nice because it was air conditioned on a hot day, and also has a nice outdoor patio.

Food was on the expensive side, spent $25 on a burger, a sandwich and two drinks. It didn't compensate by being astoundingly delicious. My tuna steak sandwich was too salty.

As far as great places to eat on Hatteras Island go, this is right up there. The price is fair (as another yelper so eloquently pointed out, food on H.I. is expensive!), the food is good (very, very good), the menu is healthy, balanced, and has something for everyone.

As a local I get their punch card and get a free wrap for every 10 I buy. Not an amazing deal...but it's something!

Try their cajun chicken wrap. Their fries are freaking delicious (which can make or break a meal in my opinion). And they serve beer!

I don't know what these ppl are talking about. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I couldn't believe this place didn't get "5 stars."   I did see more "5 star" reviews on their website.   We go to OBX every year and we stop in more than once a trip.  Sometimes its 2x / day. lol.   LOVE THEIR MENU, GREAT STAFF, CLEAN & WIFI! My mouth is watering just thinking about the day we had wraps catered for 12. yum. I think I tried one of each! & yes they were cut in smaller portions!

On my trip to Hatteras, I went here everyday for a cheaper breakfast. I had the Hatteras-style Monte Cristo once and couldn't stop eating it. I biked down there everyday for it. The staff was friendly and adorable!

We had breakfast here.  It was pretty crowded, probably because there aren't too many places for breakfast where we're staying.  My husband's biscuits and gravy were great.  I had a chai latte which was very good.  I ordered one of the specials, a cajun chicken biscuit. It was not good and not cooked all the way through.  The hash browns, while good, were really just square cute little french fries. Oh and the ketchup was pretty disgusting.  Definitely not any kind of name brand.  It's a cute little place though.  It had outside seating which was nice.  They also offer free wifi.  I would go back here for sure.  Maybe next time I'll try something more traditional like pancakes.

We were recomended by a local friend to check Atlantic out.  We ordered the crab cake sandwich, fish tacos, a crab soup and 2 beers at the counter and sat outside where they brought us our food.  Nice clean place, good food, perfect for lunch, casual.  We spent about $40.

Stopped here by chance on the way home from a long HI weekend. Surprised by the cleanliness of the restaurant the friendliness of the staff and variety and quality of the menu. Pricey but worth it in the size of the items an quality of the ingredients. I had fish tacos and got two HUGE tacos filled with a good 1/2 lb each of mahi, shrimp and fresh seafood salsa, best I've had!! My wife got the club and it was enormous as well. Neither of us could finish and had to pack it up to go! Will definitely be coming back on our next trip.
