I don't know if it's because I was a lil drink happy but I actually liked this place. Yes, there were girls handing out menus all over ocean drive to get you to eat at their restaurant and at 9.99 plus we were in the mood of the menu items, we ate here.
The blue point oysters were sooo fresh and delicious. Yummy. My friend had the lobster salad with strawberries and it looked very good while I had the curry shrimp, simply okay.
We did ask about the drinks and they did tell us the 2 for 1 was per person so we werent shocked. They were HUGE as hell and really good and yes I drank both them down while there.
Staff very nice and helpful, great seat at people watching, good music. Had a lot of fun here.
Everything here tastes like rubber! Maybe all the humidity from SoBe leaked into the kitchen pantry & fridge and into every single ingredient.
Going on vacation and eating gross food is such a disappointment. Ambiance here was nice for people watching, as it's along Ocean Drive.
13 of us sat outside and I was able to try the following:
- Calamari Appetizer: decent, not over-battered, but rubbery calamari
- Lobster Salad w/ Strawberry & Lemon Vinaigrette Lunch Special: bland pieces of lettuce, rubbery & chewy lobster
- Calamari Salad Lunch Special: again, chewy calamari, bland dressing
- Cuban Sandwich: the bread was nice and crispy, but the pork was 80% fat. I'm not a huge bacon/fat lover, but I really love pork, and this wasn't done too well. There was way too much mayo and ham in there, too. Tasted like a Quizno's panini.
- Huge Cup of Margarita: one sip gave me the gag reflex. Maybe it's because I drank myself silly the night before, but this margarita had way too much mix and way too much low-shelf tequila.
Service was slow, too. There are TONS of restaurants/bars along Ocean Drive - avoid this one!!
The food was decent, but I was a bit upset when we got two drinks (2-for-1 happy hour deal), and they charged us for both. The waiter said that the drink deal is per person, not per table. I didn't see this written anywhere, and they sure as hell didn't tell me ahead of time when they were talking about how great the deal was. I tried to dispute it, but nothing changed. Other restaurants on Ocean Drive give you 2-for-1, not 2-for-1 per person.
Food was about average, staff did their job but not with any exuberance, and drinks were on the weak side. This place would get three stars if not for the rip-off move in the end. On the plus side, they gave us our two "free" drinks in plastic cups, so we could carry them with us as we evacuated the restaurant.
C'mon guys????!!!! What do you expect? You are on Ocean Dr. yet you expect to pay hometown prices? Think about it!
The 25$ drinks are weell worth it! They are huge and potent! Most of all very refreshing!
The food was very nice. We started with a florida stone crab plate. I had never had one. Now I realize what all the hype is about and why the price is a bit more expensive than other "crab" My waitress, was verrry attentive. She took the time to explain to us the Florida Stonecrab "history" . Very interesting.
Entrees where a very satisfying surf and turf and a fish(I think he had mahi mahi)plus lobster tail combo. Nice portions.
Now guys, we paid a bit more for seafood as compared to Ma n Pop's crab shack. I did not mind AT ALL. I got what I paid for eventhough it might not be what I am used to!
Point is this:Excellent food(though not Red Lobster prices). Entertaining location . Excellent service(our waitress was one of my best but unfortunatey I don't remember her name! Abby maybe? ask for her)!
If you are looking for a cheap dinner in South Beach...don't get near Ocean Dr. If you are willing to pay a little more to enjoy what South Beach is all about then take a seat in Atlantic!
It ain't cheap but it sure is fun AND worthit!!!
The food. A
I got a small bowl of jalapenos with my order and they charged me $3! Plus they charged me the price of avacadoes? Anyway, their food is not good. Extremely dry, hard, and the service was prretty meh. Will never come back again. Oh and this is the place where I found out the price for 2 for 1 drinks is $25
Service: Poor
Food: Lobster ravioli - Salty and very small portion
Seating: on the sidewalk
Restroom: dirty
It looks like a somewhat fancy restaurant. Seating is mainly outside many of which line the sidewalk. Inside is a bar and some seating for dinner guests. Waitress appeared annoyed from the moment we got there but her demeanor improved a little after we ordered. I was surprised to see that level of annoyance from a waitress. Perhaps it's because we had 2 kids in the dinner party? I don't quite know but we obviously rubbed her the wrong way.
The Lobster Ravioli that I had was salty and the portion was very small. The other guests in my party had much larger portions so I just happened to draw the short straw.
I was surprised by how dirty the restroom was. Given the nice seating and the fancy aqua blue lit bar, I expected cleanliness everywhere. Not the case here but there was running water, toilet, and soap so I'm not complaining.
I give it a 2 rating because of the service and annoyance factor of sitting on the sidewalk. There is a lot of foot traffic that you have to deal with and the food was just okay. It's not a very good value.
My girlfriend and I went here on our last night of our Miami trip. Ocean Av was PACKED with people and it was so annoying bumping into everyone (even though I did expect this ) I just got tired of saying "sorry" and "excuse me" all the time, so we settled for this spot. We prefered to be seating inside, to be away from all the craziness because we were so tired and didn't want to hear the music blasting in the front. I feel bad for not changing it up when I ordered food but the salad was the cheapest (I think it was 14). I also decided to treat myself to crabcakes (which was 12) I don't remember what my friend ordered but it was definitely around my range including a soft drink, which was 6. Okay, what I didn't understand is how did our bill come up to 84 dollars? I mean, we didn't even order alcohol! Oh here's the answer; the tax was 12 and the gratuity was like 15 something. I mean, damn, we are in a recession!!! I was so disappointed. And I have to add the crab cakes was something you get from Pathmark (which I could've done myself).
I won't go back! Or maybe I really just wasn't prepared to spend all this money on some damn food, :(
Came here for dinner and drinks on a week night. It was raining and they offered 2 for 1 drinks so our group thought why not.
Dinner was just ok... I got the steak special that's offered at a bunch of places for about the same price ($14), so I wasn't expecting much for that on Ocean in SoBe, and I got even less than expected. Maybe if there was a little less gristle or if half of my bites weren't spent chewing like I was eating bubble gum, then I could be at least a little satisfied with my meal... but I guess it was edible. Most of the pasta and shellfish meals were at typical Ocean Dr. prices for decent food. And how many times did we ask for water before they brought us any... too many times, especially for a week night.
It probably helped that we got mixed drinks there... and they are really large drinks which are pretty fun to get. Of course the prices weren't listed and you find out at the end that your 2 for 1 still costs $25. Also, you know they're using cheap alcohol when everyone has a little bit of a headache the next day.
All in all, spent around $44 to eat a little and drink a lot which really isn't horrible. Of course, my bill was the cheapest. And remember that they include gratuity automatically on the bill regardless of party size. Also, it sounds like you're taking off in a helicopter when you're in the bathroom.
We were seated quickly and our bread and water glasses were refilled when asked but those were the only highlights that I can offer. The food was pretty bad especially for such high prices. The soup was good but the rest of the meal was either overcooked or cold! They tried to hide the fact that they charge $25 for one drink. The price was not posted anywhere and were downright hostile when we mentioned the price to the next table who were ordering drinks.
Definitely avoid this one!
Hmmm.... Mixed feelings about this place. We were dubious to begin with as it all looked a little "greasy" and "hi-carb-value" - but we were really quite famished and tired and it was 94 degrees and 999% percent humidity and this venue is just seconds from our hotel on the strip. and has those breezy fans with the automatic spritzers at the sidewalk seating.
So - a pizza and a salad. You could keep the mushroom pizza, which had a tasty thin crust but way too much, rather uncooked, slippery cheese. I noticed a straight-cheese pizza someone else was eating as I left and they seemed to be having a similar issue.
But the mediterranean salad we got to go with was really very good - fresh hearts of palm and leaves - not palm leaves, other....salad -y leaves! (Sorry - I am still quite tired.)
Service was patchy and it was quite spendy (watch out - 15% tip is included in the check), but the atmosphere and the view on Ocean was really quite spectacular. (You realize I am not talking about the landscape, don't you?)
:/
Probably one of the most solid dinners during my trip from Boston.
Our group of four got seated on the upper patio; although a little cramped, the atmosphere was nice and our gorrrrgeous Italian waitress was just charming. Located right on Ocean Drive, Atlantic Bar & Grill is a great place for people watching during the late afternoon.
My cheeseburger was perfectly cooked, not too rare but not too done. Everyone else's steak dinner (only $15!) was delicious and the banana creme brulee (although ridiculously small for $10) was a great choice for dessert.
I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for a quality (albeit somewhat pricey) meal.
