Came here for the first time last night for my fiance's birthday. It's a little hard to find because its dark and there is no prevalent sign. Probably for the best though. I'd like to keep this place to myself!
The bar is beautiful. I love the fireplace!
The drinks were amazing and the service was awesome. Everyone was very friendly. I'd come back just to hang out with them again!
I had the fries which were as good as everyone says. My mouth is watering right now thinking about them.
My fiance had the jumbo shrimp and the oysters which he raved about. They were perfect!
All in all this was such a great night and we were really taken care of.
The free valet is a little strange. I actually didnt pay anything but the guy who took my valet ticket and gave me my car was very hesitant to go along w/ the free validation. I would just ask beforehand. No big deal. -

I was going to wait to write this review, as the owner did extend an invitation to dine here, but since no one else seems to be jumping on board, I figure full disclosure and an honest review are perfectly acceptable for an FTR to put this place on the Yelp map.
I arrived just as they were opening and unfortunately they weren't quite ready for guests, but they welcomed me to sit at the bar until my party joined me and/or they were ready to provide service.
First off, this place provides FREE valet with validation. Where else can you find that in Hollywood? As someone who despises paying for parking (mostly because lots tend to be cash only and who carries cash these days?), this is a seriously serious perk. It just starts off the experience on the right foot. You're not frustrated (or late) because you spent 20 minutes trying to find the cheapest parking (please say this isn't just me?!?), so you're immediately relaxed and ready to enjoy yourself.
They have a raw bar, well-crafted cocktail menu and a reasonably priced, albeit limited selection of menu items. Think oysters, caviar, cheese plates, etc. The cheese plate was a secret garden of fromage. It was beautiful. I would have French kissed that cheese plate if that wouldn't have been wildly inappropriate. The bread and butter came out a little tardy, but it was equally as kissable.
Then came the main entrees. I ordered the fish du jour (cracked peppercorn ahi). Divine. The cracked peppercorn gave the immaculately cooked fish the perfect kick to leave me wanting to not leave one ounce of it left on my plate. I can't recall what accompanied it, but just know that the plate had ZERO remnants of the dish left by the time it was cleared. I also had a bite of the steak (and frites) that was also ordered (not by me) and the sauce was magical. And I'm not talking card-trick magic, but make a tiger appear out of thin air kind of magic. Where did it come from?!? (Apparently it was fashioned after one of the owner's favorite sauces from a widely known, adored, and often praised Parisian restaurant.)
Sadly I didn't have one of the cocktails because I was "taking a break" (foolish), so I will reserve a star until I am able to return for a liquid meal (though I have no doubt they will earn it quickly).
Final note: It's a very fitting venue for a savvy budgeter who has rather refined taste buds.Listed in: Cowahuenga!

When I think of The Great Gatsby, I think of fancy estates with rooms of polished wood, and incandescent lanterns emitting a glow of hope and ones true desire. I had the fortune of visiting Atlantic Bar and Grill the other evening, and my heart's longing was found along the banks of the Eastside. This new swanky lounge brings a vintage class to Cahuenga Boulevard, and transports one to a bygone era of decadence and style. Some friends and I attended their Happy Hour, All of the featured drinks are half off during Happy Hour, which is every weeknight from 9:00 to Midnight! Here's what I had.
The Eastside - A divine beverage composed mostly of gin with a strong cucumber influence. Very smooth and un-gin-like in some ways. I couldn't get enough of them...let's just say I had over three, and leave it at that. Their featured specialty drinks are from historic recipes, or have a vintage flair. I believe the Eastside originates from 1921.
The Moscow Mule - Very refreshing, I tried a sip of this. Strong and delectable.
French Fries - Golden fries as yellow as the morning Sun are served shoestring style in a great presentation: The fries are wrapped in a white cloth napkin, with an opening at the top. So neatly were the fries wrapped that it almost reminded me of a little baby - but not in a creepy way - in a cute, precious way. Very tasty.
Calamari - Expertly seasoned and breaded squid also served as the fries above. The cocktail sauce alongside it was also very pleasing. I could have eaten the whole portion on my own, but I managed to restrain my stomach and taste buds. I was, after all, in a public setting.
The decor of the establishment is Art Deco Perfection. The first thing that caught my eye was the ninety foot glass mosaic behind the bar. In shades of emerald, verdigris and chartreuse, men the size of giants and airplanes cover the expanse. Very reminiscent of Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged. A fireplace divides the ornate bar in the middle. Mahogany and cherry wood buffed to a gleaming sheen cover nearly every surface.
Valet is FREE if one spends $20.00 or more. Their Happy Hour is still growing, and I am looking forward to the new and exciting items that I know will be making an appearance. On my next visit, I plan on trying their cheese plate. And who knows, maybe I'll run into the illusive Jay Gatsby, if he isn't too busy with Daisy Buchanan. -

So I was out with a few girlfriends Friday night for happy hour at Bodega in Hollywood. We're finishing up and want to get another drink. It's almost 9pm so I tell them about my new fave place for late night happy hour. I mean, I'm raving about this place and am so excited to take them there.
We get there. No more free valet with validation. It is now $15. Ugh-okay. I guess I can understand, now that they've been open for awhile.
We walk in. It's beautiful, everyone else loves the decor. I show off the place like it's my baby (isn't that fireplace amazing?! Don't you just love the atmosphere!)
Jesse, one of the bartender comes to the table to get our drink order. I ask for the menu of specialty cocktails. "No more specialty cocktails."
Okay...so umm...do you guys still serve food? "No. Well, we still have about 20 steaks left but we're not serving food anymore...and no more raw bar"
Oh, and no more Happy Hour.
So basically, besides the decor, everything that was fabulous about this place has been taken away. I am beyond sad because I really enjoyed this place and have been telling a lot of people about it. I'm not sure the details, but I guess something happened with one of the owners leaving the restaurant and so now they had to change things around.
The saving grace is that the service is still really good and the atmosphere is beautiful. Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever return if it stays this way.
Seriously. Sadness in my heart. :-(1 Previous Review: Show all »

This review is for the Atlantic Bar & Grill's happy hour, which rocks more than a Jeep on the Rubicon Trail.
First of all, it's nice to see more businesses acknowledging that not everyone's day ends at 5 p.m., and that some people need a late night happy hour. From 9 p.m. to midnight, patrons can enjoy a variety of discounted libations on the cocktail menu. While there are also a couple of food items as well (calamari for $4 and fries for $3), the happy hour is definitely alcohol based.
The drinks to get here are the Rattlesnake, which is essentially a sazerac, the Moscow Mule, and the cucumber based Eastside. Normally they are $11, so that means for under twenty dollars you can order three very tasty cocktails and maybe even squeeze in an order of fries! And, though they didn't taste overwhelmingly strong, they definitely packed a punch. I'm no lightweight, and neither is my liver; that being said, I cut myself off after two cocktails, as I was really feeling them. I'm still feeling them a little right now...
The decor makes me feel as if I should be there with a woman wearing a long black evening dress and holding a cigarette in those long skinny holders. The only elements missing from the Atlantic to complete my Mad Men fantasy were the thick layer of smoke filling the bar and the annoyingly bright mercury vapor lamps adorning the building across the street that shone through the front window. Some nice velvety curtains would cut out that distraction, but the venue owners apparently want to be sure the interior is exposed so as to entice passersby.
Next time you're on a nice movie date at the Arclight, be sure to bring your date here for a nightcap. -

Open Bar for $25 every Friday, but you actually have to pay $25 to get in or they won't let you in, but when most places are charging $14/drink it's definitely worth it :D
Atlantic is NOT closed. It's still here as a lounge. Great atmosphere and excellent staff.
Bartenders serve up great drinks and make them well. You won't be turned away here because it' not your typical Hollywood door drama like at all the other places.
It's a bar but they stepped it up with the excellent decor. The only draw back is always the parking on Cahuenga so it pays off to get here early around 9:30-10. -

Being in Atlantic Bar & Grill makes you forget entirely where you are - in such a good way! When I heard where it was situated, I immediately thought of drunk girls in too-short dresses and douchebag guys with too much gel in their hair & Ed Hardy t-shirts. I was SO wrong! This establishment is a breath or fresh air in a neighborhood that has been lacking a place this classy for a long time.
Once you realize that Atlantic is about the high-end cocktail and the art of picking a few, amazing dishes, you begin to feel like the bygone days of classic Hollywood are alive and well. It reminded me of The Edison meets The Tar Pit, but with it's own unique style (the stained glass mural reminded me of something out of Metropolis).
I had an assortment of food that included the calamari, cheese plate, and some oysters, and I must admit that each dish was truly delicious! The servers are both knowledgeable and helpful (and, call me vain, but everyone in there is good looking to boot!), and in a land of terrible service and skeezy bars, Atlantic stands out like a diamond in the rough. They even went so far as to help me find the perfect drink since I am not a huge fan of gin.
Great for a date or girl's night out... or any time you want to remember why you love Los Angeles. -

I must begin by saying that I hate Hollywood. I hate pretentious bars, waiting outside in lines for any club or any bar or any scene that makes you realize how precious life and time is and how much of a tragedy it is to be wasted.
Ended up chatting up with one of the owners/business partners. The bar is modeled, you will notice, in 1920s decor - huge draping chandeliers and rustic bar.
It was on a 100 degree day that I caught up with a couple of friends here - we noticed there was no a/c, but it wasn't sweltering.
We had an awesome time.
Ambience is cool, relaxed, sophisticated - worked well for our friendly after-work drinks outing.
Menu: we had the dessert - the triple ice cream/marshmallow/chocolate-shell number and split it among the three of us.
My friend ordered the Rattlesnake - probably the most inspired/interesting/flavorful of what we ordered. I had the shock top on tap (a light, smooth brew).
**Free valet parking validation. Hellooo, unexpected surprise.
Will return. Still hate Hollywood, but I like this place. -

I think the first thing I love is that you only have to make 1 decision....fish or steak! How many times do you go to a restaurant and have a panic attack looking at the menu?
The decor is gorgeous, the server told us that everything was brand new, except the mosaic behind the bar, and it looked authentic 20's....very pretty.
My steak was done to perfection, and the portions are a nice size, each dinner comes with a salad, and either a bottle of wine, or a caraff or Sangria, a HUGE salad, and dessert......
Best of all....FREE VALET!
This place is a must. -

This review is based solely on the bar.
First off, the only vodka they had was Smirnoff. This is Hollywood, cmon now.
Second, they raised the drink prices during the night. A vodka tonic (with crappy Smirnoff) was $9 at around 10pm and about a half hour later it was $11. That's just shady.
Third, they ran out of beer. Seriously, how does that happen at a bar in Hollywood?
Won't be coming here again unless I was forced to. -

Really liked it. Very good quality meat & produce. Love the limited menu concept. Beautiful decor, GREAT place for a party. Amazing service from our server, the bartender & floor manager. I love that there are lots of bottles of wine in the less than $50 price range, we had an excellent cab for about $40. Couple snafus with the food...my steak was a little undercooked & D said his veggies weren't hot enough. (But you know how high maintenance HE is). Definitely going back, I was impressed and really enjoyed the experience.

Came on an email offer, was not disappointed. Shrimp cocktail was excellent, appetizer salad and dessert were great. I've had better steak but paid more to get it. The salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection. Drinks were generous and the staff was above and beyond friendly. All that and a happy hour that goes from 9:00pm to midnight! How could you go wrong? And a totally not pretentious crowd which is a refreshing change from the Hollywood I know.

Diners, if you've never done limited-menu establishments before, you're going to be surprised, so let me explain to you what it means. A restaurant such as this does a limited menu to keep the focus on a few things that they do really, really well. The Atlantic keeps theirs to two entrees: the house special, which is steak frites, and a fish of the day. They do these two items REALLY, REALLY well. They are then free to focus a lot of attention on the raw bar - oysters, shrimp/lobster cocktails, that sort of thing. It's a rather old-school formula and personally, I like it. Yes, the options are limited (there will be no tired rehashings of cobb or caesar salads and no lame renditions of some ridiculous roasted chicken somethingorother), but you're safe knowing that what you're going to get is really, really excellent. The Atlantic is not an exception to that. I had the steak frites, ordered medium-rare, and oh boy, it actually came out that way. Neatly seasoned, and perfect. And, also, probably some of the best frites you will get in this town. I am, sadly, allergic to oysters so I can't comment on those but the shrimp cocktail was delicious! I don't know where that sauce came from but I'm salivating thinking about it.
Service was good; I was there really, really early in the evening on a Thursday night, and it was pretty quiet, so that's probably partly what the great service was attributable to. Although I am a water-guzzler and serving water in a bar cocktail glass is somewhat useless but hopefully they'll read this and change that little detail because it was sort of annoying. The drinks were great.
I read a few complaints about the music choices below; when I was in there, it was all 40s and 50s lounge, some Sinatra, sort of what you might expect. I was sort of hoping for 20s/30s Big Band; that's kind of what the interior is begging for. It would add a lot to the experience.
Also a fan of the valet parking for $6 for restaurant patrons, nearly unheard of in Hollywood. Do please keep it that way! I am so sick of trying to dine up there and getting gouged up to $15 or $20 on parking. $6 is fair.
My only complaint is that they didn't do much to the interior; savvy Hollywood denizens will remember this place as Bar Deluxe's second incarnation, which closed up shop around the end of July. Sort of weird to be in it as a restaurant, as opposed to a bar, but I'll take it, I guess; I suppose I just expected them to have done something besides remove the FOH curtains and reupholster the bench seating. But it's still nice, and comfortable, and I still love all that dark wood and stained glass.
This would be a great place for a date or a business dinner. Not terribly pricey, either, unless you are the type to go nuts with the raw bar and the alcohol. I went here with my mother and we both really liked it.
All in all, a totally refreshing change from your typical Hollywood/Beverly Hills snot-nosed restauranteur bratdom. I really hope they survive for a while, because they totally deserve to. Bravo, Atlantic! -

Fell in love with this place! Attended for a birthday party, and the owners and servers were so accommodating and helpful. They really worked with us to make everyone comfortable and happy. They even created a special menu for the party. Food was great!
Also, I was sold on free valet, but then parked in the wrong place (not the lot on the side, you have to pull up to the front) and the owner came out and helped me out with the valets so I was not charged. He was really helpful about it. Could not be nicer.
The space is GORGEOUS. You really feel like you are in a place, not some trendy, skanky Hollywood bar with food. I will definitely return for happy hour and dinner. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is I think they need a better wine selection, especially by the glass (they only offer 3) but hopefully that will grow with time.
Definitely check it out! -

If you have not been here yet, your missing out. Everything from the ambiance to the drinks and food are great. Its something hollywood had been missing. They have a wide variety of liqueurs, crazy drink cocktails, and the food, let me say, I was really impressed. So far I have tried their house steak, their sword fish, mussels, and desert, and they all blew me away. Def gonna make this place a regular hang out. The service and quality are 10 times better than most places in LA! And with the new happy hour, I'd rather get a cocktail by a friendly mixologist for half the price than go to a club where you pay crazy prices and get poor service.
