Chris is friendly and striaght forward. He gave me a few suggestions as to how he could help out with the issues I'm having with my ride. He didn't waste my time or try to get me to go over my budget - I will def be back.

This is the worst bike shop I have ever been to. GO TO OUTBACK BIKES INSTEAD! It's right down the street and they are WAY nicer/more knowledgeable (and CHEAPER!)
My experience:
The first time I went there, the owner put my boxed bicycle back together. When I returned to get it, he was there with about four guys, and they were all enjoying some PBRs. (Uh, what?) As I was pulling off into the street, my bicycle pedal fell off. Nice work.
The second time I went there, I left my bicycle overnight for a basket to be installed. When I arrive the next afternoon, I found my bicycle (with no installed basket) sitting UNLOCKED and UNSUPERVISED outside. (Uh, this is Atlanta, folks.) When I walked inside and commented on this fact, the owner said, "Well, it didn't get stolen, now did it?"
Fool me twice, shame on me...
You might call this sassy. I call it ridiculous. DO NOT SHOP HERE! You have to be joking if you say you like this place. -

I love the owner and his no-bullshit attitude, but the hours are unpredictable!
Times when it seems like the shop should reasonably be open-like a saturday afternoon-it is closed. But I can't blame ya, I want to be out riding too! -

I ride my bicycle everywhere, but I'm not mechanically inclined at all and when it comes to needing little things fixed I generally rely upon the kindness of strangers.
A while back a friend decided to play a prank on me and took off one of my bicycle tires and attached it to the roof of the restaurant where we worked with a chain and a padlock. I didn't discover the treachery until the following day and as the bicycle was my primary mode of transportation I was not in a happy place. I'm pretty short and the guy with the combination to the lock was MIA so getting the tire off the roof was an ordeal. Fortunately, I found someone to put the tire back on, but later on when I was riding down a big hill on North Avenue I realized that the breaks weren't attached properly.
I coasted to safety and walked my bike to the nearest bike shop which happened to be Atlanta Pro Bicycles. I'd had kind of a long day and I felt pretty stupid for not knowing how to fix my bike, riding down a hill without breaks, etc... I was really worried that the guy who owned the shop was going to make fun of me. But he didn't say anything at all, he just fixed my tire right away and didn't even charge me for it. It totally brightened my day.
I've been back since for tune ups and when I've had flat tires and things of that nature. The prices are some of the lowest in town and the turn around time is really fast. -

I bought a bicycle from this store last fall. It was an unusual purchase in that I already knew what bike I wanted and my only option was to order through this store because it was the only vendor in the area for the particular brand. They received my bike, assembled it and off I went.
Service was good when he found out I was planning on dropping a good chunk of dough here. Service was not good after the got my money though. During the first 6 months, you're supposed to get a free maintenance tune-up - I wasn't able to get that because the messages I left to schedule it were never returned. I'm sure I could have stopped by and demanded it and they probably would've done it, but I don't want to have to twist somebody's arm to get them to fulfill the promises they made.
Coley's review is right on the money about the store. This is not a place you'd want to try to purchase bike gear at. I'm not really sure about the service here, but I'd guess it might be a little slow since it's only one guy doing everything here.

Bottom Line: this is not a mega-store, it's a locally owned bike shop with very personalized attention from the owner that specializes in performance and custom/customized bicycles that you can't get anywhere else.
It's true that things in the store can get a little out of sort, but Chris knows where everything is and can get items quickly if he does not have it.
I bought my Independent Fabrication Crown Jewel from APB many years ago and always feel welcome at the store and find Chris to be full of helpful tips.. -
Review from Bryan A.
APB is awesome. The joint cracks me up to no end and the owner/operator is hilarious! I definately appreciate that if he is busy or had a rough night on the town the shop may or may not be open or closed for that matter. It's a private owned business and upto him. APB is massively cluttered and you will never know what you may find from gold plated deep v rims to some Frankenstein motorized mini bike Booger hand JB welded together.
Don't let the mass amount of bikes in disrepair (or being repaired) corralling in front of the building or so many punk rock stickers on the door and windows you can't see inside. Go on in bring your bike and leave it with them. Probably the best mechanic in town and cant fix anything. Bringing a 6 pack of PBR probably wouldn't hurt your case.

Never bought a Bike from APB, just accessories and what nots... yet, Chris always helps me out with small things I need (even though he is usually swamped).
I still owe him a beer for the last time... I'll getcha I promise.
It's good to have friend in the Bicycle Biddness! -

APB made my bike ripped in 4 weeks.
I have always had crappy bikes. I have always known how to work on crappy bikes with crappy parts. When I finally decided to take one of those crappy bikes and make it a good bike, this is where I came. Not only were the prices fair, everything I got was fantastic, and all the parts fit without much more effort than the turning of a socket wrench. The hank III on the speakers made the experience that much better. -

This store looks like the inside of my parents' garage -- a total mess. The store front is small, so the owners don't have much space to work with. Still, APB could definitely use a woman's touch. It's so cluttered you won't be able to do much browsing. If you need something, just ask the manager and he'll find it for you.

Atlanta, GA
I just got back into riding a bike and bought a nice old one from a friend. APB was the first placed I stopped for an estimate on new tires and tubes, shifter rebuild, and tune-up. I told the guy I was on a tight budget, and that I was already pretty antsy to ride the bike. He gave me a very fair estimate, and said it would be ready in two days. I was excited at that point, but still figured anything in "the shop" is gonna take longer than expected. Chris, turns out that's the guys name, totally proved me wrong. I picked up my bike 48 hours later, the estimate was spot on, and the bike was in beautiful working order. Got it back yesterday, and did 30miles through town today. It worked great. I haven't bought a bike there, and I haven't tried to order anything or buy any accessories there, but as far as maintenance goes I would certainly recommend APB to anyone.

There are plenty of bike shops on the east side, and most of them are a lot larger than Atlanta Pro Bicycles, but I always go back here because of the way that Chris, the owner/operator, treats customers. No bike snobbery here: you will never be sneered or laughed at because you don't know the specific nomenclature for all the bike's parts. Chris is appreciative of his customers and it shows. As far as the actual service, he knows his stuff, works fast, and doesn't overcharge (he always gives you the thriftiest option for solving your problem). This is what locally owned businesses should be like. Support APB.
