Excellent locally owned store with superb service. I have been in a couple of times, and both times the guy working the floor was friendly and helpful without being overbearing or pushy. Holly helped out with evaluating my husband's funny gait and high arches (sorry dear; it's true) and seems to have picked out a pair of shoes that work really well for him--so no more excuses for not walking the dog.
There IS a difference between shoes, and if you're interested in getting the best fit for your feet and the best bang for you buck, I highly recommend going over to Athletic Soles. -

I'm not much of a runner but I don't want to run in cheap shoes (my knees don't like it). I was very happy with the selection, service and price.
I will definitely go back when I am ready for a pair of those five fingers shoes. -

Came in here because I needed new athletic sunglasses. I found a pair of great Tifosis! The store had a good selection of shoes, gear, and even had some triathlon and yoga gear.
What stood out to me was the service. The gentleman in there was very patient with me and showed my lots of different shoes to try on. I really appreciate this kind of great customer service. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come back here. -

There are really only a couple small, locally owned running shoe stores in the area that I trust and love and Athletic Soles is one of them. The staff is knowledgable and always very helpful. I promise, you will not be disappointed if you go there for your next purchase!!

Just go in once and you will be hooked...and ask them as many questions as you want; they will have the answers.
As with most apparel these days you can find a better price online but when it comes to shoes you better think twice about that. Shoes fit us each differently so it is important to have a professional take a look at you and help you select what will work best for what activity you are doing.
...and talk about a professional!!! Holly not only trains for and competes in Ironman Races (along with triathlons, marathons, etc) but she trains others to do so too. She is very knowledgeable about all facets of running, biking and swimming and her store is like no other in the area.
She was able to help me diagnose a problem with my knee that my chiropractor could not. She gave me exercises, which fixed it within a week, and got me into shoes that would relieve a lot of the stress that my regular shoes were causing. My original shoes were not cheap but they didn't fit well and weren't made for my physical makeup and running style. Holly solved all that.
If you are just starting out or looking to continue challenging yourself at your current sport the most important issue is your health. Holly will help you stay injury free and/or recover from injuries so that you can continue to enjoy your chosen sport(s). If you are just looking to buy cheap shoes for non-athletics there are tons of places you can go...but even then, you really should treat your feet right no matter what you are doing. Nothing is worse than having to walk around all day on sore feet.
Can we talk about flip-flops/shower sandals/thongs??? Apparently those things are worse for your feet (and ankles, knees, back..and everything inbetween) than wearing high-heels. Well, I wear flip-flops all the time and she introduced me to the only brand that is designed by a podiatrist and they have helped me stay injury free.
They also carry SUPERfeet, which are awesome insoles. They carry every shape, style and flavour of shot blocks, gels and water additives. If you run, bike or swim she will have the gear for you (well...other than the actual bikes).
...and get this, not only are the prices very competitive (even compared to online shops) but Holly stands behind everything she sells.
Another thing that I really like about the store is that they are very active in the community and not just for sports related activities. They are a great contributor to what makes Petaluma such a wonderful place and any time there is a festival in town they are sure to be hosting some part of it. They are even working towards bringing the marathon back to Petaluma after an absence of over 60 years.
Oh ya...and they have a website...and not the crappy type that companies throw up in order to have a web presence. Hell, you can check out the schedule and join them for their "run club"...for FREE!!! They have links to coaches and they even have a section where you can submit questions. This is what I look for in a website - something informative, not just an ad for brands that are carried.
They even have a buyers club that gives you discounts as you purchase...and you don't need to carry around an extra card in your wallet; they use their 'puter to keep track of everything!!!
You are not going to find a better place to get your gear and it all comes with the helpful advice of Holly and her staff, who really know what they are doing and know how to treat you like family. ...and they care; they truly care about you enjoying and getting the most out of which ever sports interest you. -

Since I worked at Footlocker in college, I've had experience in shoe stores from both sides of the register, putting me in a good position to provide the inside information. Here's what you need to know: sales people at Footlocker (and other national shoe stores, I suspect) are not trained to help you find the best shoe for you. They're trained to sell and get a commision.
My experience at Athletic Soles was nothing like any other shoe buying adventure, and nothing like what I expected. They inspected my stride, asked my preferences and found me the right shoes. The prices are fair and competitive and the service just can't be beat.
These folks are AWESOME! -

Still a solid 5 stars (can I give out 6?)
I took my husband here to buy him some new gym shoes for his birthday. We were there for close to an hour finding the right shoes for him.
And boy did we.

It's rare to find a retail store that actually provides service these days. If you are a runner or a Triathlete, this is the store for you. The three times I've been there I was fortunate enough to have Holly assist me in making the right purchase.
Holly answered all my questions and even advised me on avoiding pitfalls. She took the time to go into detail on some lessons she has learned based on her experience doing multisport competition such as the Ironman. It's nice to know you are speaking to someone who lives it which reinforces the purchase you are making is solid.
Additionally, Athletic Soles does a lot for the community.
Next time you need the right shoes or training apparel, do yourself a favor and go to Athletic Soles where you are assured to have an exceptional customer experience. -

Just a quick update, I can't say enough good stuff about this store. The service is stellar and I love their newest orthotic sandals. I got a really cute pair I can wear with dresses this Spring and Summer without sacrificing comfort for my feet. Try on a pair and you'll see just how comfortable and stylish they are!

Such a great store. I buy my shoes and love how they will help you find the perfect pair.
But even better I went in to find a decent sports bra, hell to shop for, they were amazing. I found the perfect bra, great for running, high impact training....everything! Changed my life. Thank you Athletic Soles!
