Nathalie (pronounced Natalie) is an awesome find, recommended to me by a physical therapist friend after several chiropractic treatments failed to help with severe pregnancy related low back pain. Nathalie "fixed" me in a visit. She takes a more medial and complete approach to massage than I'm accustomed to (standing assessment of alignment prior to therapy - worked well to diagnosis my misaligned pelvis and other small aches and pains as my little one has continued to grow)... her method works, and in addition she offered able to provide some exercises and stretches to aid in preventing further issues (seem to be help!).
I've now been to see her a handful of time for various PREGNANCY related concerns/tightness. Not only is her personality pleasant and easy to work with, every time I leave feeling great. As I'm approaching my due date I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to work with her through my pregnancy and know I'll be back post partum for the upper back pains related to holding my little one and for sports massage as I return to my usual active lifestyle (cycling, swimming, running).
DETAILS: easy free parking, online scheduling, reasonable rates, PREGNANCY PILLOWS (for side lying) and awareness of what is appropriate & comfortable for a ever changing pregnant body, always on time, comfortable and well appointed office. I've only seen Nathalie as I've been so happy with her work, however I've meet some of the other staff and they seem helpful.

I decided to go here because of all the glowing yelp reviews.. and man.. was I glad that I went here!..

I'm training for my first marathon and after running a 20miler during training, I thought I had stress fracture or something. It was hard for me to even walk straight. Nick worked on one muscle group for about 30 minutes (I asked him to take it slow because I was in pain).. and and the end of 1 hr.. it was as if I never had a limp..  already scheduled 2 more sessions.. completely worth the money..

I was referred here as I was looking for a massage therapist that could really help work out a few of my kinks.  I a fitness instructor and tend to overwork certain body parts.

To say that I was blown away is an understatement.  I spent one hour with Nathalie and she was incredible.  Now, let's be clear.  If you are looking for a massage where you can sit by the spa, sip tea, read a magazine, and have a mild massage like at the huge spas, this isn't your cup of tea.

However, for those looking for a comprehensive massage to really get your body working at it's full potential, this is the place.  Nathalie spent a long time analyizing my body, my posture, and sent me home with 5 exercises to further help my troubled areas.  I felt like Humpty Dumpty.  She picked my muscles apart and put them back together.
I was incredibly impressed and give this place a two thumbs up.

I've heard great things about the other massage therapists, but haven't experienced them first hand.  I'm sure that everyone there is great!

Nathalie also specializes in prenatal massage.

I'm hooked and going back for more!

I came here after being recommended by a coworker and because the one review they got was from a therapist I went to some months ago from Ascent who was mediocre at best and negative.
I have been twice to Athletes Advantage and my therapist was amazing. She listened to my issues and I literally walked out feeling like I was walking on a cloud. She called to follow up on how I was doing. I saw her the following week and she completely made my neck spasms go away from working behind computers all day. This places SNAPS!

ATHLETE'S ADVANTAGE PROVIDES HIGH-CALIBER MASSAGE SERVICES!

One of my clients referred me to Patty at Athlete's Advantage.

Patty was able to release the spasm in my piriformis; relieving my low back, glute and sciatica pain.

I highly reco Patty for deep tissue, sports massage and all detailed work for specific muscle, tendon and joint issues.

I decided to go to Athlete's Advantage because of Sheri C's 11-2009 review, as I have similar lower back and glute issues.  Turns out this was a great decision.  Patti Salinas is extremely knowledgable (almost like a PT), and her analysis of the source of my problems was spot-on.  Her deep tissue massage gave me a lot of relief and released points I didn't know I had.  She also gave me a set of foam roller exercise cards.  These exercises are aiding my recovery.  I have had a lot of massages at spas, and those tend to be relaxing but not very therapeutic.  So if you need massage THERAPY and don't want all the spa frou-frou (e.g., no facials here), Athlete's Advantage is the place to go.  Best wishes to you in your recovery!

Correction on May-19-2011.  I had previously posted Patti's name as Patti Sinclair, but her name is Patti Salinas.

Nathalie and Tim (the therapists that my family has used) are both amazing.  They've worked with my kids on sports injuries (shin splints, etc.) with great success after only a couple visits.  Nathalie has helped me with hip problems as well as back issues.  The studio is always clean and organized.  Not only do they work on deep tissue issues, but they also suggest exercises, etc. to help you work on problems on your own.  This is definitely not a studio for "spa" massages with candles & tea, etc.  But a wonderful place for deep tissue work and resolving physical problems.

I see Patti Salinas for deep tissue work twice a month.  The work she has done for me has been incredible.  I have scar tissue from many accidents and bad posture and she has been able to release those muscles and correct my posture.  I have been seeing her for about three years now and wouldn't go back.

I do agree with the comment by Christy D, that if you are looking for a spa-style massage, this is not the place for you.  Deep tissue work is their creed and is what works for me.

I highly recommend Patti for deep tissue work and to give you exercises to do at home to help correct and speed up your healing process.

After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to try Athlete's Advantage for my back pain. Patty asked many questions to better understand my problem and then really helped untangle my areas of pain. She also provided me examples of stretching that I can use at home. I feel so much better and will definitively go back.

I have been coming to Athlete's Advantage for over 15 years, before Tim bought it 12 years ago. I thought I might make a change at that time, since there are many places closer to my home, and I would prefer to find something closer to home, however, I have yet to find anyone remotely in the same league as Tim's work.  He is a master at finding the places that need most attention on my body and helping those places to relax and heal.  Tim also works on my daughter who is a college athlete, and she feels the same way.  On top of his gift for body work, the office is run very professionally, the tables are comfortable and the linens are always very clean.  Tim takes time with the ambience of each room which is very evident in the nice decor.  I have a hard time traveling since my weekly visit is one of the highlights of my routine.

Not sure what disgruntled ex-employee gave a "1-star" to this place. I agreed with the other reviewers. Tim, Nathalie, and Agnes are all amazing. This is the only place my husband and I go to fix my problems. We use different therapists at Athlete's Advantage. This is not a relaxation massage place. If you have real pains and injuries, they will help you to identify the root cause and fix it. When my pain got really bad, they gave me recommendations, exercises, and even sent me to another place to fix my posture so I don't have to go to massages as often, which means they actually rather fix my problem than make money off me. I tried many other massage places in mountain view, palo alto, los altos, los gatos, and san jose before finding this place. Athlete's Advantage fixes what my physio therapist and chiropractor couldn't. Honest and professional, a real therapeutic place.

If you are a recreational weekend warrior or a serious competitive athlete, this is the place for you!  Patti Salinas is an amazing, knowledgeable therapists who goes right to the spots of your deep muscle tension to loosen them up for better performance and reduction of pain. I have found my secret ammunition for staying healthy and fit through her deep tissue therapy targeting my specific needs rather than the all-over, where-ever feel-good spa massage. This is better than a visit to a doctor!!
