Excellent diner. Breakfast was great. Good service. Coworker liked his gyro and said he will also be back.

The wait staff here is very friendly and kind. They're frequently busy, but rarely inattentive.
The menu is classic diner fare: lots of items which favor comfort food. As with most diners, the entree gets more attention than the vegetables, with the exception, of course, of the potatoes. Expect to take some home. The portion sizes are more than generous.
Breakfast portions are more reasonable and the flavors quite good. I quite enjoy their farmer's omelette and eggs benedict. They also do a fine corned beef hash in the traditional style.
I keep going back. -

Went here for breakfast. Was decent food/value. Waitress couldn't give two sh**'s about us and the front of the house acted like they didn't want to be there.

This is one of those places that you visit for your entire life. I've been going here since I was a kid and I can't even estimate a semi-accurate number of how many times of been here. Just know that it's a lot.
The breakfast is great, diner food. Maybe it's not all home made or fresh, but it is really fast and really satisfying. Nothing like eggs, potatoes, toast, ham, and coffee for a nice breakfast to fuel your lazy Sunday. -

As far as diner breakfasts or hangover solutions go, this place is the dog's bollocks.
Delish eggs, brown and serve sausages, chewy bacon, excellent toast and quick service. If you think that can't be beat, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the chrome, purple, black and mirrored interior. Oh, and did I mention it's open 24-hours.
Heeeeey! -

I love this Athenian Diner Chain! This is the one that I went to all through my life. After every play I performed: The Diner. After every dance: The Diner. After just about anything: The Diner. One time I went on a double date and my friend and I ordered every appetizer on the menu... and ate them all. I'm known to order Whipped Cream with a little hot chocolate or "please mix a packet of cocoa into my coffee and smother it with whipped cream. Oh, and a cherry on top!"
So many memories. I have to love this place! -

As the only diner open late-night near campus, Athenian got a lot of my (parents') dollars. It's a pretty standard diner, but here are some scenes that have earned Athenian a special place in my heart:
* The time my friend Neil ordered a glass of milk for the aggressively annoying freshman at the next table
* The time I got kicked out for the drink thing
* The time I got kicked out for the omelet thing
* The time Neil got kicked out for the omelet in the drink thing
* The time we saw a whole table of high school prom-goers eating a "fancy" dinner before the big dance
Ah, memories... -

Stopped in one day in passing and ordered a grilled cheese with tomato on rye bread. It hit the spot. The waitress was spot on.
The menu is ginormous and offers all one would expect in a Greek diner. -
Review from Lisa S.
The food here is completely mediocre and overpriced. Don't go here for the food.
With that said, it's a 24 hour diner in Middletown, where there isn't a whole lot to do off campus late at night. I have lots of fond memories of coming here and scarfing down fries and milkshakes at 2 in the morning. I never saw this place more than half full (or half empty...?), which was nice because we never had to wait and no one tried to rush us out.
It's been several years since I was last in Middletown, so I'm not sure if they still have that terrible neon pink lighting. It is not pleasant to stare at that when you're slightly hungover, which is usually the state I was in when I went to Athenian. -

This is a pretty mediocre diner.
They have the essential diner food and it's all decent. I've never really had anything that knocked me out. Except for the baked goods, everything seems like it's ordered from the same industrial food suppliers as the other area diners.
It's open 24 hours. So, if you're hungry in the middle of the night, there aren't many other options.
The service is good. Everything is mostly fine.
My real problem with Athenian is that it's one of the only places in the area to get Greek food. The Greek food they have is overpriced and the gyro meat is pre-formed industrially-made meat rather than off of an actual spit.
However, the Greek salad is huge and excellent.
If you can't get a seat at O'Rourke's, or if it's the middle of the night, you can have a thoroughly mediocre meal here. -

To me this place is what I call a diner. The place is set up like one, the menu has everything, the prices are pretty reasonable and they are open 24 hours.
I had never been there until about 2 months ago when I was performing in Rocky Horror right down the road. When we got out at 2:30am we usually just wanted a place to go and grab some food and unwind.
We were typically were given the entire back room to ourselves which was great. It gave us the privacy we needed and they gave us our own waiter, so he could really focus on us. I don't think any of us had a complaint the entire run of the show, going there after every performance. -

Athenian is a good diner, always consistent. I haven't had a bad meal here. Service is good, portions are large and prices are not extravagant. I only gave 3 stars because it's nothing spectacular. I love the neon lights inside, it adds a little something special to the atmosphere.

Everything you would expect from a Greek-owned diner -- good food, good atmosphere, good service. Very standard. Try the coconut custard pie!

Ate here again on New Year's Eve. This place was a welcome sight after fighting our way along the snowy roads. The service was good and the food was decent.

Ive had better, much better.
Perhaps its what i ordered or the fact my tastes have changed since i was here 12 years ago. This place is huge with the senior crowd. My mom loves it, but the food was way to plain for me. Ambiance is fair and wait staff was great. I ordered the farmers omlete. Comes with homefries, toast. Omlette was overcooked and if not for sausage in it it would have no flavor. Might as well been eggbeaters. I was sooo craving some greasy down home homefires. Ugh not here. It was more like boiled potatoes cubes lightly tossed in a pan right before served. NO FLAVOR. Use some oil, oinions or peppers for chrissake. Toast was , ya know toast. A little slow on the coffe refills and not exactly inexpensive. My mom had a short stack of french toast. This was pretty good. Nice and thick. I would have been happier with that.
I dont see how anyone likes this place unless the go @ 2am drunk... -

this place, its a diner - i have been here like 20 times and never been excited by the food and sometimes have been sick after the fact. not my favorite diner around.... as a greek diner it is exactly what you would expect i really can't say more or less than that .. also, it kind of looks like a space ship.
