A group of friends and I went to Athena's for dinner, which would have been a good meal if the manager wasn't an a**hole. My friend made reservations ahead of time for a table, so the restaurant knew we were coming. A few of my friends were late, and considering it was rush hour, it's forgivable. However, the manager didn't see it that way. Our table was near the front door, and he was watching us from the register most of our meal. My one friend was about a half-hour late, and the manager had the gall to come up to our table and say "Why did you make reservations for six if you only have five people?!" in a nasty tone. We explained that our friend lives an hour away, and that she's probably stuck on the 90. He then gave us this look and said "Well, if I knew your friend wasn't going to show up, I would have put you at another table! I have other customers that could be sitting here!" I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. I was very close to walking out the door and telling him where he could stick it. Needless to say, my friends and I will never eat there again.
Despite the a**hole waiter, everything else was decent. The food was good, the waiters were attentive, and the prices were reasonable. You get a lot of food for the money.
Also, I had eaten at this restaurant before, and I still got the vibe during this last visit that they're rushing you out the door. The food is served quickly, but almost too quickly. I go out to eat to enjoy my food, my company, and to just relax. On a Friday night, the last thing I want is to be rushed.
had lunch here today and i must say they have the best open chicken souvlaki I LOVE IT!! you get lots of chicken grilled to perfection and lots of feta yum yum. the service was good the price was right and i ate about 12 Min's after i ordered . I also have had the fish fry on Fridays and its also a great deal huge piece of haddock fries mac salad and coleslaw. stop by and see them soon.
