As Dan A. stated in his review... Kristie has spoiled many of us, including my parents from Washington, DC. They still reminisce the first time I brought them to yoga at the James Howell Studio in Duboce Triangle in 2002. Now when my mom visits me in SF and I'm busy with work, I can send her to Kristie's class knowing that Kristie will take great care of my dear loving mother. You can't say that about most yoga instructors.

I trust Kristie.

Her emphasis on safety while guiding students through an intense practice is admirable. She's even available for private lessons, which I happily indulged in during a rocky period a few years ago. It was bliss when it seemed bliss could not be had!

Atha Yoga is what Kristie Home calls her practice. When I moved to California from Virginia a decade ago, if you'd told me ten years from now I'd be going to yoga twice a week I never would've believed you. But Kristie made it happen! She's THAT good.

Open level classes (Mondays and Wednesday evenings, the ones I'm familiar with) run an hour and a half. Kristie mixes up the poses and the intensity of the class depending on who is there and what they are in the mood for. Like a good DJ, she is very responsive to the crowd. Interspersed throughout the class she sometimes gives her thoughts on everything from yoga to politics to the universe; she's a great thinker and her patter can be half the fun. She also teaches a more advanced class on Wednesdays.

It's spiritual without being froofy, intense without being frustrating, tiring yet energizing. It's just damn good yoga. One warning: if you get used to the quality of her classes, you may get spoiled and have a hard time going to anyone else!

perfect for the beginner as well as the longtime yogi.
Kristie's class will bring you inner peace in 90 minutes while stimulating your butt to the beat of the day.

Kristie isn't just well regarded here but she is also the author of "Yoga" an all you need to know guide from the Body Shop.

She is also a teacher in the annual Yogathon each fall.  So sign up for her class on Monday, Wednesday, take her class in a field or bring her home and read her cover to cover. Kristie's the ONE for all your yoga needs.
