Review from Michelle L.
Miami, FL
This Valentines day my boyfriend and I wanted to take a romantic vacation and Asheville was the place. After scouring the internet for the best possible combination's, big tubs, great food, fireplaces, I had a matrix with information, and we sat on it. As I went in and then looked at all the real people reviews: That's where Patti & Gary come in.
As nice as the other inn's and B&B's appeared online, nothing came across as loudly as the reviews of Patti & Gary's Cumberland Falls B&B. So we booked it and couldn't of been any happier about it!
A reviewer commented on them being the nicest. people. ever. She was right.
The house is exquisite, we arrived late on a Sunday and they left us a note and instructions, as well as twilight goodies, for tea and cookie hour! (Patti bakes something delicious daily for all her guests in the early evening.) Scrumptious!
So we went about exploring the house, taking photos, and just as the sun was setting my boyfriend was bringing in the bags, thinking to himself "that Gary sure does think of everything, but he could use a light back...here" and the motion sensor kicked on and all was illuminated.
Every morning Gary's breakfast would be a treat to the senses, baked goods, fruit (poached pear with Chantilly cream anyone?), and delicious entrees, fresh coffee, tea, and plenty of help on anything you could possibly need or think to need in Asheville. Amazing!
You will not feel more at ease, relaxed or at home, then you will here with Patti & Gary. -

A mighty fine place to lie naked in bed (or jacuzzi tub) while drinking champagne and eating chocolate covered strawberries
Though 8am seemed a tad early, breakfast was always worth getting up for. The pancakes served one morning were HEAVENLY, like sweet little cloud puffs. Sadly, the innkeeper wouldn't share his Granny's recipe :(
A strange mishmash of guests supplied interesting breakfast table conversation. I became particularly enamored of a well-traveled British couple. Married nearly 50 years, their love of life and each other was contagious. Not to mention their razor sharp wit which left me doubled over, trying not to spit eggs all over the table!
Simple times like that leave me incredibly thankful--thankful that life brings an endless supply of beautiful strangers that I'll probably never see again...Listed in: Favorite places to spend my…, Day or weekend trip?

Love, love, loved it! Perfection in a lil' gingerbread house.
This B&B is great for everyone. A girls' night, a romantic trip. I, myself, was in town for business alone. Not so romantic.
Patti & Gary are the owners and they may be The. Nicest. People. Ever. Seriously. Ever! So accomodating and kind. They know everything and are willing to get you directions, reservations, and info you need. Heather is the concierge and she's a hoot and super helpful too!
The B&B is beautiful and comfy. It's not "overdone" or too "fluffy." It's laid back and you want to just hang out. The porch is great. I worked on in the sunroom for a few hours with the free wifi. Chocolates in all the candy dishes and fresh baked sweets in the afternoon.
I stayed in the Sunshine Room on the third floor and loved it. It's in the attic and very cozy. The jacuzzi tub was great. I slept with the windows open and slept great!
Breakfast was great! Homemade blueberry muffins, baked pineapple in white wine with cinnamon whipped cream and squash frittat and lemon/pepper potatoes. Hello? Yummy!
Don't even get me started on the beautiful grounds.
Ok, enough gushing. It's not cheap, about $200 a room, or so, but it's so worth it. Work it into your budget and get thee to the Cumberland Falls B&B. -

Miami Beach, FL
Location is good, 5 minute drive to downtown. The house is very well kept, grounds beautiful, and very clean. We stayed in the Sunshine room and other than the toilet being separated only by a privacy wall, we loved the room. The welcome tour was a bit "over-the-top", explaining unnecessary details that took (or felt like) almost an hour. Be prepared that breakfast requires you to sit at the same table with strangers, which may or may not be to your liking.

What a wonderful place! I visited Gary and Patti at the Inn and stayed 4 days over the holidays. The 3 course breakfasts were to die for and it was wonderful to have it prepared right outside our door! Gary and Patti, the owners, gave us fun recommendations for activities to do and ever restaurant they suggested was fantastic. By the end of our stay I felt like it was a second home and if we ever return to Asheville (which I hope we do) I will choose the Cumberland Falls Bed and Breakfast Inn again!!!!!!!!

History
Established in 1998
Our home, circa 1902, has worn many hats since its construction. It has been a bible repository, boarding school, girl's school and private residence. One of its most colorful occupants was Micheal Kelly, an engineer contracted by the city of Asheville from county Cork, Ireland. He was hired to design and build the new water system in Asheville. Sometime between his hiring and the completion of this project Mr. Kelly and the city fathers of Asheville had what could be called a "parting of the ways."
According to lore, when no solution could be struck between the two parties Mr. Kelly simply ceased completion of the project and with project plans in tow, returned to Ireland leaving Asheville to sort out the system design on their own.
Meet the Business Owner: Patti and Gary W.
Gary worked most of his adult life in the utilities business. He also served in the U.S. Army. Currently he brings his "fix it" skills to our inn. "Repairer of all things." From a leak in the pond liner to the reconstruction of bannisters, he wields his magic throughout the property creating order out of disrepair. Lest you think that is the least of his talents, he is a master in the breakfast department as well. Much of his time at the inn is spend in the rendering of eagerly anticipated breakfast fare & our guests give him stunning reviews.Patti, before innkeeping became her trade, worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. E.R., step down ICU, dialysis and obstetrics some of her jobs through the years. She is the baker and creates all of the wonderful confections enjoyed by our guests. She most enjoys communicating with our guests ensuring their trips are just what they dreamed their time in Asheville would be. Floral arrangments and garden magic are her specialties.
