With 5 phones and an iPad, I have visited this store at least 7 times. There is something about their cell phones that bring out the worst in people. The customers are *usually* rude, impatient and irritable. Some number of them are in there because they can't make the phones work......and then their take out their frustration on the reps. More than once I have shaken my head over the tone that people use and the irritation they openly exhibit towards the employees.  The heavy sighing, foot tapping and glaring doesn't make the staff work any faster. Very childish.

So, on to my review. Sometimes this store is very, very busy - 3 reps and 9 people waiting. Other times I have walked right up to the counter. So if its busy, go to the post office one block away, to the market or bank and come back and save yourself the wait if you happen to hit a busy time. The staff has always been more than pleasant and except for the time I ran into an "AT&T policy" problem, have been able to help me with no problem and pleasant attitude. One time they even filled in all my rebate information while I waited and all I had to do was mail it. With the number of times I have been there, my experiences have been 90% positive.

And I have seen Omar - he acts as intake doorman and maintains the waitlist, so although he wears a AT&T uniform so it doesn't surprise me he isn't able to answer question about plans.

Joe and the whole team are warm and friendly.  Great customer service.  They helped me save money and kept a really good sense of humor.

This AT&T store is a buried little secret. I've been to the stores in Walnut Creek & Concord, and believe me... plan on a long wait and not a lot of help.

The Lafayette branch seems to be less crowded as well as under new management. Today we were greeted right away, and there were 2 reps that were available to help me. Maybe our timing was just perfect - not sure. We went in at 3:30 & left at 3:40 with our questions answered & a new iphone case. Everything checked off the list!

    Thanks guys

Do yourself a favor and go to the Walnut Creek store...even with the wait.

Maybe I just had a bad experience, but the kid I dealt with, Omar, was nice enough but CLUELESS. He tried to tell me that on a Friends and Family plan everyone's caller ID has to be the account owners. I knew when he told me that he was wrong, since I had just changed it for my mom's boyfriend online, but he was insistent that I was wrong. So we asked his manager...yup, he was wrong.

Again, not a rude guy, but I just did not get this overwhelming amount of confidence from him and decided to just leave and head over to Walnut Creek.

Over the past 12 months I have visited this store at least three times, each and every time I walked out with less then satisfied results.  The staff is very friendly but not very helpful.  It seems to me that they are working from a rehearsed script.  None of them are able to think outside of the box... nor do I feel that they are very knowledgeable. I ended up going to an independent store and had a great education.... and finally figured out why I have such poor service on my particular phone!!  But what I find truly amazing is that the staff was aware that we possibly were thinking of switching carriers... They just did not care!  Times must be great for AT@T.  Ended up switches one of our lines and the rest to follow.

Hmm, methinks a few people have Review Rage.  First of all, the customer is not ALWAYS right.  Secondly, sometimes when a person doesn't get what they want they tend to distort their perception of the events in order to justify their feelings.  Let's stop using Yelp as a weapon.

I work in IT and have managed cell phone plans for a few businesses as well as my own family account.  I have been to retail stores for nearly every carrier throughout the entire Bay Area.  Let me say that AT&T and this store in particular are among the best.  I have been to this store on several occasions for everything from adding a new line to porting a line over to buying accessories.  Every time they managed to meet or exceed my needs with nothing but professionalism.  The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and sincere.  They always greet me when I come in the store and let me know if there will be a wait.  They give me straightforward answers to my questions, even when the answer might not be what I want to hear. After all they do have to follow AT&T protocol.  Cell phone carriers aren't always fun to deal with, and eventually new gadget euphoria wears off and you have a bill or account issue to handle.  But these guys make it as easy as possible.  Their equipment selection and stock is average (I ended up going to SF for my iPhone 4 because Lafayette had to order it, but that's to be expected for the most sought after phone shortly after release date).

All things considered, this store is a great choice especially if you you don't want to wait in line and need some personal service.

If you're looking for GREAT customer service, then I advise you to go elsewhere. This AT&T store averages 3.5 stars? Are you kidding me? In all honesty, if we were allowed to give 0 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I've been to this store three times in the last month and let's just say I won't be coming back (even though I work nearby). Each attempt that I went inside this store, no employee ever helped me. I came in today, for example, to buy a new phone since my contract is over. There were exactly five people in front of me. I understand it can get busy, but it wouldn't hurt to acknowledge the line and kindly say "we will be right with you." Also, if an employee is going on break during these busy hours, I don't think smoking in front of the store seems right (especially with the line of customers inside). Clearly, there isn't a sense of urgency. Good luck calling them, too. It'll just go straight to voicemail.
