I'd finally had it with T-Mobile. My phone of 18 months was crapping out on me, and somehow they wouldn't offer me a free or even discounted upgrade until my contract was down to only 3 months left. Screw that!
Deciding that if I were going to have to spend at least a couple hundred bucks I'd rather it be on the early termination fee, I started researching which carrier I would switch to. US Cellular looked good for a minute--as the only US carrier that I know of who doesn't charge for incoming calls or texts, I approve wholeheartedly (quit raping the rest of us, you fucking greedy cellphone asshole companies!)--but in the end I went with AT&T because they had a plan that truly matched my needs. No one else had something that fit so well.
So remembering that there is an AT&T store next door to the hated T-Mobile Hell that I had just visited for the bad news, I stopped in and got the pitch from a very friendly guy named Eric. He didn't act offended when I revealed that I had done a lot of web research beforehand, and in fact provided much complimentary info to what I had already. Not to mention that he cut me a great deal by waving the activation fee AND throwing in an additional $50 off the phone I wanted besides the $50 already offered by an AT&T rebate. He even helped me put a screen cover on my new phone!
Suck on THAT, T-Mobile!
The entire experience was easy, efficient and informative, and I recommend hitting this store and asking for Eric if you are thinking of going with AT&T. -

I have used this AT&T store for years and I am quite happy. Each and every time I walk in there I get fast, efficient and friendly service. Today, for example, I went to the store on 70 W. Madison to get a charger but ended up at this store (it is closer and I needed the charger FAST - see my review on THAT one). Anna helped me out right away AND let me in on their buy one, get one free sale for the accessories. She happily waited on me and got me out of there in under 5 minutes. I have not met an associate that I did not like at this store. They know their stuff and are always happy to help.
