Review from Lauren P.
We spent Saturday night at Callaway Gardens and were looking for a great place to dine. When I asked the bartender at The Lodge he said pretty much everything was good, so we opted for the restaurant closest to the resort's property: Aspen's Mountain Grill.
You know the food is going to be good when pickup trucks are parked on the hill out in front of the restaurant. When we walked in, the hostess kindly told us we'd have to wait a few minutes. We were on vacation and not in any hurry so we moseyed over to the bar for a cocktail.
The lead bartender/manager could be Sarah Palin's Southern sister-from-another-mister. The decor is truly kitschy and if Palin had lead a different life she may have wound up managing her own version of Aspen's in Alaska.
Our wait wasn't long and we didn't even have to pay a bill at the bar. "I'll just let your server know what y'all had," our bartender said with a smile. We settled in at one of the tables. This place isn't very big inside but I bet the patio is lovely when the weather is nice. Our waitress was very pleasant and our dinner was ready in less than 10 minutes.
My trout was delicious in its brown-butter sauce covered with chopped pecans. Kevin P. liked his steak and our potatoes (mine a loaded baked spud and his mashed) were right on the money. When our waitress asked if we wanted dessert I asked what kind of pie they had and of course there were four different pie options! Gotta love the Deep South. Our Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie was the perfect note to end our meal.
Next time we're back in South Georgia y'all can find us at Aspen's!Listed in: On the Road

I ate at Aspen's for lunch today and it was very good. I had side items -- salad, fried green beans, grilled asparagus, and snap peas. Everything was very good, but they could have given me more than 5 thin stalks of asparagus. My husband got the grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings. He said it was good. They have some nice draft beer and nice wine selections. I would definitely eat there again.

As good as the best city pubs and much friendlier. Good burgers, salads, fish, and some semi-fancy dishes, like pecan-crusted trout. A good range of appetizers--the deep fried green beans are fun. Chefs do a great job of cooking steaks and burgers the way you request them, which is a big deal to me. Kid friendly, nice atmosphere indoor and semi outdoor seating.

I was competing at a horse show at poplar place and for supper some of our barn buddies decided to try this place for supper. It was great! It was kind of small inside but cabin-like. My friends ordered the prime rib sandwich and chicken tenders. My mom ordered the grilled mahi mahi that had some kind of sauce on it and also came with grilled shrimp. I had a fillet with a loaded baked potato. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because I asked my for my steak to be medium-well and it was well done with the outside being a tad burnt but the flavor was good and it was still tender. I can't wait to go again!

Went on a Thursday and it took a few minutes to get a table. No problem but then it took a while to get waited on--people came in after us and were served before us. When our waitress came, she was excellent and friendly (Sue).
The atmosphere is fun, family-friendly and casual. Nothing fancy. Several TV's around to follow any game you might want.
The food is typical tavern fare and about an average number of choices. However, there are some good choices. I had the Mushroom & Swiss Burger w/ fried green beans (See picture). My family all seemed to enjoy their selections as well.
We will be back. -

This place must be popular with locals; it was full on a Thursday night. We had a burger and a french dip prime rib sandwich, both excellent. Good service. Their house wine is a higher end Beringers Stone Cellars. Can't imagine how a Colorado motif restaurant got displaced to Georgia. We would go there again.
