I ordered the pork with jasmine rice. Picked vegetables with vinegarett.
So far so good. I loved how everything blended well. I also got the mint iced tea which was pretty good. Not overly sweet.
The place is quite small inside but there's also outdoor seating which in my preference is better. The staff was friendly and service was quick. Although they did forget to give me my drink. They made up for it though because they gave my hubby and I free sample drink of lemonade and Vietnamese coffee.

      Will definitely be going back.

This is a fast and healthy place to grab a small meal. The boxes are filled with fresh vegies - and there are a number of proteins and sauces to put on them. Also a choice of starches like white or brown rice or pho noodles.

They also offer a tasty spicy jerky for the road.

Management is nice. The place is clean. It is a little stark to eat inside, but there is a pleasant enough outdoor patio overlooking the mall.

I've been to TAP and Shop House, and Asian Box is a similar but slightly different concept. While you can choose your starches, protein, toppings and sauce like the other places, it's not assembly-line style -- after you place your order, they make the boxes in the back and call your number when it's ready.

I had a lot of questions and they were all answered graciously. They even offered samples of their beef and pork because I was torn between the two (and you can't order more than one protein unless you want to pay a $5 surcharge for double the meat, and I wasn't THAT hungry). I liked both options, but I went with beef -- tender and juicy slices of steak. Yum! They also offered us samples of their sauces. I went with the tamarind vinaigrette for my order, but I also tried the fish sauce and agree with another reviewer that it reminded me of the sauce that you get with Vietnamese bun noodle dishes, with a bit of sweetness.

I tried the Vietnamese coffee and it was good. Not as strong as others I've tried. I like that they have a water dispenser in the corner. :)

Their Yelp check-in deal is a surprise gift. I got a coupon, and one of my coworkers got a free hat.

They're located right next to Pinkberry across from the AMC theater. Yay, free parking!

Well I've had a couple of asian box places such as chego and some other spots near around Culver City. This place is pretty damn good. I had the Big Ox which was very filling. All items within the box stand out as far as flavor and freshness. The meat was tasty. In my opinion maybe a bit on the rare side but i didnt mind it. The caramel egg was a bit weird for me. I'm sure as far as taste and texture that its the way its supposed to be. But texturely, it was weird. Rubbery octopus type texture. But still good. Im almost positive that its intended to be that way. The lime marmalade is very refreshing as well.

One more thing that stood out was the attentive and polite customer service I got. The cashier remembered to top off my drinks after helping a customer. Thanks! 8)

Location wise its in a pretty cozy corner right in front of the theaters.

I will definitely be back here when im in the area again. This is a very good place to eat at and you dont feel guilty or awful eating here!

Been wanting to try this for a while. But it disappointed :(

      FOOD
Chicken (3 stars): They only have thigh meat :/ they should offer all white meat! So much for trying to be healthy.

Overall the ingredients were okay. The meat was just okay. My friend got beef and said her beef wasn't so great either.

Hot box sauce is actually hot! It was good though. Usually places that serve "hot sauce" don't have a sauce that is really that hot, but this one definitely was!

Service was great, food is just okay. If they had better meat it would taste better.

The Vietnamese coffee here is pretty bad. I have never experienced a bad cup before this. The food was subpar and the sauce overwhelms all the flavors from all the ingredients. I guess there is a restaurant called The Asian Project down the street, which is exactly the same yet outstandingly better.

Ah, the sheer joy of using a coupon right before it expires! I had just noticed that my coupon for a free Asian Box was due to expire in 4 days; so popped in here after we saw "Wild" at the AMC 16 (it's right across the way.)

I decided on the Ox Box in order to get the most bang for my buck (it's normally $13.95.) I'd eaten at a different Asian Box (DTLA) at an Elite event and hadn't been that impressed by the food, to be honest. But I am all about second chances. (Third chances? Just depends.)

How to describe the Ox Box: imagine your vegan college roommate and your paleo college roommate decided it was Leftover Night. The paleo guy grills up a fine cut of beef but has no idea how to season it. The vegan guy wants to use up all the expensive veggies he got at Whole Foods. So you end up with:

Rice, bean sprouts (raw), carrots, lettuce, broccoli, overly-vinegary cucumbers, peanuts, seasoning that was a mix of this-and-that, with grilled beef on top. Oh, and let's throw those marinated eggs in, too! And don't forget to squirt sriracha all over everything! To say this did not coalesce into a dish is putting it mildly. Let's just call it Vegan-Paleo Chef's Surprise at the dorm.

Here's the truth: Asian Box is looking to make a dent in Chipotle Nation. They are green, local, recycle, sustainable, etc. But they can't cook.

      Chipotle wins, hands down.

Service was nice earning the third star.

This place is amazing... It's more of a fast food place but let me start...

      Service:
Wowzers! the service/staff is amazingly nice, accomodating, patient, understanding, and informative. They are extremely patient considering I or new folks have no idea what the heck is going on. They are helpful in so many ways, it is ridiculous. Have any questions? Just ask, straight up! and they will tell you.

When I asked about the sauces.. I just asked for all six to try cause the sauce can make or break the meal no matter how much or little is placed on the foods. On a personal note, I am not a big sauce guy, rather taste the natural ethos of the fresh ingredients! Staff was happy to give me enough sauce samples for 20 bowls...

I also missed out on the carmelized egg. i just did not see it but they happily procured a whole egg, split in two, for me to include into my delicious veggie box!

      Location:
I loved that Asian Box is different than the other food staplings in the vicinity. Places like Fuddruckers, Hawaiian BBQ, Italian Restaurant, Chinese spots, etc etc etc is a haven for carnivores, but sometimes... even carnivores want to switch up the pace and eat food that your internal organs will thank you for later on. Asian Box is perfect for that moment. Do not get me wrong, Asian Box serves chicken and other meats, but good tofu is hard to find. My endeavors for good doo boo (tofu) is similar to my quest for the ultimate lasagna (which will be included in my autobiography called "Tales of a Fatass!").

      Food:
      The basic options are... Choose:
      1. Rice/Carb
      2. Meats/Doo Boo
      3. Other crap.

Rice options include noodles, white rice, blah blah blah, but i highly recommend the brown rice. Parts of #3 (other crap) offers the options of peanuts into the nice, sweet, brown rice. FRIGGGGGGGGIN GENIUS~! Highly recommend that option.

Protein options are next. The chicken looks delish. But I chose the Doo Boo. I wish they added more doo boo pieces as i counted six pieces... Uping the ante to 12 or 15 would be killer but also overkill for the average joe. Since I'm a bonafied fatass... more pieces would make it even more special than it was.

Other crap includes, peanuts, carmelized eggs (extra charge), bean sprouts and other stuff i do not recall.

The Box was great. At first... looks puny. like where's the rest yo??? while looking under the box for a hidden compartment of rice and goodies...

If you are in this area, i highly recommend eating Asian Box unless you want some of the saturated, salty stuff other places have to offer. Asian Box (at least for now) uses fresh ingredients, fresh veggies, fresh rice, just fresh everything, even their water does not taste like crap which is common with Burbank faucet water... The alternative is great munching that won't leave you utterly disgusted as if eating a 2/3 pepperjack cheese, extra bacon cheeseburger from fudds!

All in all. the meal is appx $10 per which is also an advantage since the other establishments may run about $12-$30 per. Ballin on a budget....

Besides with movie tix prices now at AMC...

Good luck Asian Box and thanks for the yummyness.

This reminds me of Chipotle and Pizza Rev except instead of Mexican food or pasta, it's asian food. I came here last week to try but I was turned off by the smell. Not that it was a bad smell or anything, I just didn't want to smell in my office for the rest of the day, if you know what I mean. So I left. Today, I decided to give it another go. Walked in placed my order and decided to take it to go. I ordered chicken over brown rice with pickled veggies with vinaigrette and spice dust. I waited outside at one of the tables but there's a blower outside blowing that smell from inside it to the patio. In that few minutes ordering and sitting outside, I now sit here in my office writing a review, still smelling that charbroiled smokey smell lingering from my clothes and hair.

Now for my food, I like the veggies, dressing, rice, but with every bite of my chicken there was fat attached to it. Seriously, every single bite. Not sure what kind of chicken they are using but that's really a real turn off for me, which made eating this more undesirable.

I also tried the jerky, it was okay, not fan. Must of all, I wasn't impressed with the smokey smelling atmosphere, tiny interior space for eating, smokey smelling patio from the fan blowing on you and fatty chicken bites.
