Honesty, just the food delivery service itself deserves at least 2 stars. I called so many places trying to find a decent Chinese food place to deliver and couldn't believe the "requirements" they had. One place asked for a $50 minimum! It's good that I found Asia Express... They didn't ask for a minimum, delivery is free if your order is $30 or more, otherwise it's $2 or $3.

The hot and sour soup was great! The combination fried rice wasn't bad either. Most Chinese food places have their rice kind of dry (or at least to me, since I prefer my rice softer than the usual), but they cooked their rice just right. I also ordered Mongolian beef and the infamous honey walnut prawns. Both were good.

The delivery took about 20-30 but then again my location wasn't near the store itself and kind of out of the way.

Overall, if you are bumming it and don't feel like leaving the house... This is definitely one of the options to keep in mind.

I visited again after probably almost a year.  I tried the walnut shrimp and I DID NOT like the flavor at all.  I don't recall them tasting like this when they first opened, but it was an off putting mayo flavor that others have complained about.  However, they are always busy, so next time I'll try something else and will update.  The woman that took my order (possible owner) was VERY nice.  So, I'm hoping this was a one off deal.

I have not tried the other food recently, so I will go with three stars far now.

Wow. This place is great. I got the honey walnut prawns because I saw they were popular. Holy crap they were good! Very crispy, not drenched in sauce and the walnuts were nice and toasted. I will definitely come back for this.

This place is not your typical Chinese food place. Sure they do have a steam table like most do. However, they have a menu you can order from and the food is made fresh for you, even for a party of one.   Portions are of good size. The food has a signature taste of its own. Not like most places where you can go and say eh it kind of tastes like so and so. I think this is partially due to the freshness of the dishes. Overall this place is a good choice. They are quick even with making it fresh as it is ordered. There is not dining in, strictly take out here. I have yet to try the steam table items and honestly probably will stick to ordering..

A friend recommended Asia Express.  I'm forever grateful.

I never get my food from their small buffet line.  I always order to go.  The food is fresh, amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing!

War Won Ton soup is off-the hook!  So much good stuff in the soup.  I also love their honey-walnut prawns.  Tender and light.  My husband loves their chow fun.

Try Asia Express, they deliver, too.

Nothing beats a Chinese food joint that has a 3.99 meal special, an old lady who berates people over the phone and really good won ton soup. This place is a nice find in a city full of Chili's/Mcd's/Red Robin chains.
I'll tell you why this place, and other mom and pop's like it, stand out in Fremont. Does anyone here remember Jefferson Starship's "We built this city"? No? Am I really this old? Don't everybody rush to reassure me now.
OK so, there's this 80's tune that sings of the ridiculous civics project assuring that a city was indeed built only on Rock and/or Roll. No really! It was a more amazing infrastructure project than any American wonder built from the New Deal.
Where was I? Oh yes...forgive me, I reminisce about being old and remembering the 80's and.....wait. Oh. So yeah, so replace Rock and/or Roll with "Chili's, Marshal's, Food Maxx, Walmart, strip malls" and you have Fremont's infrastructure.
Places like this have a good habit of breaking up that neon monotony.

I don't know how in the world so many of you gave this place a high rating!  I was in the mood for Chinese food this evening, and wanted to avoid driving all the way to Union City, so I logged onto Yelp to find somewhere close.  I saw that Asia Express here in Newark had many high ratings, and was only 1/2 a mile away.  I drove right over and ordered the walnut prawns, sweet & sour chicken and chicken fried rice.  Cost me $28...not too bad for this much food and if it was yummy, it would certainly be worth it!

When I got home, and got ready to load my plate, I was instantly disappointed to discover that they didn't give me chicken fried rice...I got chicken chow mein.  Damn! I am literally eating this food at this very minute...and it's really not very good.  I'm not much on chow mein...and this seems hours old and is pretty greasy and flavorless.  The sweet and sour chicken has such a thick breadiing...it's hard to find the chicken - but the sweet and sour sauce itself is pretty tasty.  The walnut prawns also has a very thick breading...and the sauce has a VERY strange flavor, very mayonaisey.  The candied walnuts are tasty though...and they seem fresh.

Bottom line - I should have driven to Union City or just gone to Panda Express.  The portions are large, but I could barely choke down one portion...I certainly don't want this again tomorrow.

I first went here two or three years ago. There was an older woman working behind the counter. I'd ordered a few things off of the menu and she kept pushing me back to the steam table which contained old, dried out food. As I was already late, I just took what was there and left......I regretted eating it for two years.
I finally went back because I figured it may have just been a fluke. Nope.
The shrimp was pitifully waaaaay over cooked. The plain steamed rice tasted like they'd steamed fish inside the cooker. The "freshly prepared" beef and broccoli had brown crusties in it and the broccoli was withered and black.
Some people may have had better experiences and I won't knock those.
I haven't had even a decent experience here. I won't be going back.

My wife's family owns a Chinese restaurant in San Jose, so we know what is really good.  The customer service is great and friendly.  The walnut prawns is one of the hardest dish to get just right, the sauce can be too mayonnaise tasting or too sweet. but here they got it right.  The crispy pan friend noodles are really good and so is the beef chow fun.  We still need to try more items but we definitely found our go to place.

I recently decided to become a vegetarian, and so i looked through my handy dandy yelp account and came across this place. I was on a search for tofu and i believe i found it. I called the place first and the nice man who answered was really patient with me considering i was new to tofu. i decided to order from here, i got the Veggie Chow main with tofu and also an order of Ma Po tofu, and it was delicious! ill definitely be coming back here again.

African chicken or prawns is the thing here. If this restaurant had been located in a more prominent town, this dish would be legend.

It is the spiciest dish I have ever had in the Bay Area and it is delicious! It tastes like kimchi but with so much hot pepper that your head will explode. Despite the exotic name, this is a Chinese dish. The owner has an erroneous belief about the origins of hot peppers.

The restaurant has a very appealing neighborhood feel. The interior is clean and crisp. The owners are quick and courteous. The food quality is high and the prices a steal: under $6 for entree *and rice*, plus free soda at lunch. I am really eager to try more of their items.

Tried out this place based on the numerous raves of fellow Yelpers. However, I did not share the same sentiment!

Located in the back of a strip mall, you got your bead shop nearby as well as Middle Eastern food store. Quite unassuming-looking, I wasn't sure if I had the right spot until I saw the "People love us on Yelp" sticker and the congratulatory letter taped to the front window from Yelp Inc themselves.

Service was a bit average bordering on impatient. I wasn't sure what I wanted straight away, but ended up getting a chicken dish to go. I wish I remember what it was! It was kind of like sweet and sour chicken without the thick sauce.

The size I got was the $3.90 size and I have to admit the guy really packed it in. However, I tried the chicken and some of it was dry and chewy.  Spouse and uncle thought it was tasty, but they were, like, ravenous. And to quote Ben Franklin: Hunger is the best spice.

Granted, I did come after "lunch hours", it was around 2:00. So maybe my food experience would have been better if I came at lunch time and had tried out different kinds of food.

I will return though, I mean, the place does get glowing reviews, maybe I came on an off day and I always believe in giving places a second try, unless it is REALLY bad.

Grew up in this area, but haven't been here for MANY years... had to come to Fremont for son's two basketball games with lunch in between, found this place on Yelp.  Based on other reviews decided to give it a try.

    Value: Excellent
    Cleanliness: Excellent
    Friendliness: Excellent
    Service: Excellent
    Food Quality:  Average...  :-/

We came in just before 12:00 noon, place was empty (weird).  One son had sweet and sour pork with chow mien, which was the only item that came from the hot-table...  by the time he got to the table with it to eat, it was cold.  And like another poster wrote, it was very heavily breaded - minimal meat.

Other son had shrimp in scrambled eggs.  Not bad, somewhat strange tasting, but a lot of food for the price.

Wife had honey glazed prawns.  As another poster wrote, the sauce had a strange flavor and was very mayonnaisey tasting.  Walnuts were good though.

I had teriyaki chicken, which was pretty good.  Not dry at all.

One MAJOR selling point though - their food has NO MSG.  Places like Panda Express say, "we add no MSG" - but if you ask them, "Does your food really contain no MSG" their answer is "We add no MSG here.  It may already be in the food when it arrives."  This is a new play on words restaurants have begun using.  However, Asia Express' food has no MSG period.

I suppose if we're ever in the area again, I'd give them another chance, as the people were super friendly and the place is very clean.  Prices are great too.

    3.5 stars to be exact.

A Chinese restaurant that offers both fast food to go and a full menu you can order from. The dishes are sort of Americanized, but they also have interesting dishes such as the dishes with African sauce.

We had walnut shrimp and African noodle soup. The walnut shrimp was fried well but a bit too bready for me. It seems like the most popular dish here though. I never had anything like the African sauce before, it's spicy but sweet at the same time which I sort of enjoyed. The portion was generous, the pricing was great, and the service was very very friendly. For the type of the restaurant it is, it's clean and maintained well.

I still prefer authentic Chinese food, but if I ever crave for Chinese fast food-ish and Americanized dishes, I'd always choose to come here over Panda Express. For a small Chinese biz like this, I also appreciate the fact that they take Master & Visa cards with no minimum charge required.

Okay this is 'Tri-city delivery as good as it gets' not 'French Laundry five stars' lets get that straight. If this place was sit down I'd probably only give it a 2.5 or 3.

That being said, the last time I ordered I decided to be adventurous and try some stuff I don't normally associate with Chinese food like Chicken curry and Samosas and they were FANTASTIC!!!! The curry was like a cross between a Laos or mild Thai curry and a South African style curry with potatoes and chicken. Very flavorful but NOT spicy at all. Also like South African or Ugandan Samosas (think Indian Africans) the samosas had some sort of meat in them (maybe lamb or chicken?)

Also, I lucked out and got the son delivering so no problem with handing over the food.

This place has the best chinese food I've ever eaten at any chinese restaurant anywhere, bar none!

My favorites are the jalepena garlic chicken wings, the shrimp roles, the salt & pepper prawns, the walnut prawns, teryaki chicken and the fact that when they deliver, it is just as hot as if I was eating it there.

Oh!  And the war wanton soup is the best!  Yummy yum yum.  Slurp!  Mmmm, good.  :)

This place really grew on me this past year. I love the fact that they have free delivery (with $20 purchase) and if you're really nice to the manager, he might throw in a free cheesecake (very good quality nice and creamy). Asia Express does not skimp on their portions. We like to order the crispy noodles (vegetarian or combination), the sauce is very... well saucy and tasty! Egg foo young, Beef with tofu, Beef with broccoli, honey walnut prawns are some of our most favorites. You can also pay with your CC over the phone.

The location itself is very small and they do have steamtables. There's only 2 small tables in side and 2 small tables outside, your living room is probably bigger. Most of you wouldn't be impressed by the looks, but its a Chinese fast food restaurant, what do you expect.

Overall, I think the food is GOOD. Party trays also available.

Asia Express... A diamond in the rough.

Try the Foiled Wrap Chicken. This appetizer is very hard to come by amongst local restaurants.

This family owned restaurant has been feeding my family excellent Chinese food for the past three and a half years.  Although it saddens us that we can no longer eat there on a regular basis we often find ourselves making an excuse to drive over the bridge. LOL...
This humble establishment has grown tremendously over the course of three years and I am confident that it will continue to do so as time progresses.  They extend a warm welcome and offer delightful meals. This place really deserves to become recognized, as it has the potential of becoming something much larger then what it currently is.

For the folks who have not had the opportunity to eat her yet... Do it!! You will not regret it one bit.  No MSG!!!
From a quick lunch under $6.00 to a birthday party for under $100.00. Asia Express is where you go to get great  tasting food for every occasion at a great price!!!!

Surprisingly enough, I first heard about Asia Express when they left a brochure with their menu in it on my door.  I'm usually annoyed by such attempts at gaining customers, but I'd been looking for a decent Chinese restaurant in the area.  I consulted yelp, saw the good reviews below, and decided to give it a try.  I'm glad I did.

The brochure advertised free delivery for orders of $25 or more.  I'm not sure whether we got this free delivery or not because the total ended up being about ten bucks more than we had figured it would be.  The prices also could have gone up since I had gotten the brochure.  It had been a month or two.  Regardless, it didn't really matter.  The food and portions were well worth the money, even with the extra ten dollars.  My parents and I split the leftovers and were all able to get at least another couple meals each out of what we had left.  Plus they gave us a free slice of cheesecake with our order.  I'm not sure if it was because we were new customers or what, but it was a nice gesture.  Not the best cheesecake in the world, but it is a Chinese restaurant after all, not a place the specializes in their desserts.

Overall, it was a good experience, and we will definitely be ordering from them again.

Thank goodness for Yelp. After trying nearly every chinese restaurant in a 15 mile range from the Cabrillo neighborhood, FINALLY a winner. We ordered:

BBQ with Vegs: HUGE chunks of lean, delicious BBQ pork, perfectly cooked cabbage, baby bok choy, onions and zucchini, all in a scrumptious sauce.

Combo Chow Mein: Very nice flavor, pretty generous with the chicken, more delicious bbq pork, shrimp and veggies.

Mongolian Beef: Very nice, fairly tender flank steak sliced with a nice assortment of onions. Not too spicy in spite of the red peppers floating around in it. Bummer we weren't dining at the restaurant, as this came on what were crispy rice noodles. Although they were soggy, they still added a nice texture.

Shrimp in Spicy Garlic Sauce: I did not try this, but my fiance thought the shrimp were cooked well and the sauce tasty.

The portions are HUGE. I swear, each container weighed 3 pounds. Upon delivery, which only took maybe 30 minutes in spite of the rain, everything was still steaming hot. I love that they know how to properly cook vegetables that can withstand the travel time in their hot little boxes and arrive perfectly cooked.

Total cost: $36. We have enough food for at least another big meal, which is almost too bad cuz I look forward to working my way through their entire menu!

I'll admitt, when this place first went in I didn't think it would last long. Newark already has a number of Chinese places and the location has poor visibility from the street, they're largly blocked from view by Taco Bell. I was quite surprised when they were still around a year later and even more suprised when I read good reviews on Yelp. I was skeptical about Asia Express, but after romaing Newark in my car and not fidning anything I wanted to eat I ended up here one day (on my way to Taco Bell no less...)

The service was awesome to start! I was greeted promptly with a smile and the lady was friendly. I ordered pre-made food, noodles and garlic chicken and a bag of fortune cookies. The garlic chicken was well endowed with garlic! You could actually see all the pieces of chopped garlic, I was impressed! The chicken was cooked well, not too soft, not overly crisp, very tasty and good textures. The noodles were good too, they were also cooked just right and were just chewy enough.

All and all I was really happy, will definitly eat here again.

I've lived in Newark all my life and i've never seen this place.
I am amazed with all the places i am finding on Yelp.

Anyways, I decided to try this place based on the high praise Yelp reviews from satisfied customers, only to find that it wasn't really what it seemed.
Perhaps i came on the wrong day and wrong time, on a Sunday at 3pm.
All the left over food cooked from lunch hour was just sitting in the trays under the food light waiting for me to order them.
I got the entree meal: walnut shrimp prawns (freshly cooked) with chow mien (trays)  and a medium box order of orange chicken (trays).
The prawns were good, so was the chow mien, but honestly, i've had better. The orange chicken on the other hand, meh. I prefer panda express' over this one.

The good stuff about this place:
Their menu is easy to read...it's all pictures! and the prices are good.
Service is extremely friendly; a vibe that makes you want to come back again.

Maybe i'll come back when i am in need of a quick "authentic" chinese fix.

I've been looking for a replacement for the China Dragon and when a few yelpers said they downsized and moved to a new location, so I had to try them out.

First did they deliver to my work?  Yes!  That was great.  Even though they are not far away, I just didn't have the time to go looking.

The menu posted previous is out of date, but most of the items are still there.  Only one size though, unless you get a plate versus an entree.  The plate comes with rice and less entree.

My wifey and I wanted to try several things, as you can see from the pictures (yes, that night was all one order, we won't be so enthusiastic in the future)!  LOL  All the portions were quite generous for the price.  We had food for 3 days.  :)

First on the list was the potstickers.  I remember at the CD having to wait 15 minutes for them, with the promise they would be worth the wait.  They were.  Would they still be as good now?  Well, not quite...  A plus - they were still large and homemade looking, not something from the mega-mart freezer case.  Also did well with reheating them in a low toaster oven.  Only minus is the edges got a bit dried out.  Well, whatcha gonna do when it's several hours before take-out gets taken home?  Still tastey and a generous 6 for $5.00.

I was afraid the fried squid would get soggy so I wanted to open it up at work.  When I got it out of the bag I noticed there was a corner cleverly cut away.  Still didn't do the trick, there was still a lot of sweat on the top of the inside of the container.  I dried it off as much as I could and left it open to the air.  Still, once I got it home they were soggy.  However, they can be brought back to life!  I put 5 or 6 on the tray of our small toaster oven for about 5 minutes.  It worked!  They crisped back up just fine.  I was wishing for some tartar sauce while munching them!  lol

Next up is my wifey's favorite, egg fu yung.  She couldn't belive it is on the menu.  She also couldn't believe they will make it any way you want, veggie, shrimp, combo...   She tried veggie this time around.  She loved it.  Said the sauce was very generous, and so were the two huge pancakes.  Only minus it was a bit messy, the sauce leaked out a bit.  Plus though, they put a separate plastic bag over it, so the sauce didn't go on everything else.

Next up is the honey walnut prawns.  By far the best dish we both loved.  It's even good gently reheated briefly in a low microwave.  Only minus is the broccoli was way under cooked.  A little soak in the hot and sour soup heated up fixed that, lol.

Next we tried some each of the veggie fried rice and chow mein.  Again for the price, very generous portions.  Both were good.  Again a minus with the chow mein, the broccoli was very undercooked.  I like veggies crunchy chef, but not quite like that.  A few more mins in the wok for this client please.

A minus of the fried rice, after two days it had a sour taste to it.  To be safe, we tossed the remainder.  Hope this was just a one time fluke.

Lastly was my mongolian beef and hot and sour soup.  Again, very generous portions.  Pluses, the beef and the soup were spicey.  The beef was mostly tender, with only minor grisely bits.  A minus was the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste.  A nice combo of different onions though.

We asked for a set up for 4.  More than enough bowls, spoons, forks, soy sauce, chinese mustards, sweet and sour sauce, and napkins.  Minus, no chop sticks, lol.  I think there was even an extra fortune cookie thown in.

In all, we enjoyed most of the items, and will try them again.

Great neighborhood chinese american fast food. Much better than Panda Express. I just moved to the area. Wife had the shrimp and I had the cashew chicken. Large portions for decent price. Free Wi-Fi

    I love this place.
and for a few good reason`s why.
    1.The Food is awsome.
    2.very good price.
    3.Walking distance from my house.
4.Big Screen T.v`s on the Walls.
But the Only thing that i have found that i was Not so crazy about was that
It gets hotter than hell in there.
It feels like it`s 90 Degrees.
Summer days are take out and that`s what i do to keep from getting a heat stroke while eatting.
P.S Try their Shrimp and Chicken Soup...it`s the bomb...even my kids love it.

I have no idea why this fast food place gets such a high rating.

The place is clean. But the food is barely better than that in Panda Express.  Their hot and sour soup is super bad: just some chilly sauce and vinegar put together.

It's not the place if you want some real Chinese food.

I have found a go-to delivery chinese restaurant!  I gave this place a shot based on the reviews here on yelp and it was well worth it.

Had some friends over Sat night and placed an order of:

    - veggie chow mein
    - pork fried rice
    - steamed rice
    - orange chicken
    - mu shu pork
    - honey walnut prawns
    - spring rolls

Everything wasm super good, by far my fav was the honey walnut prawns and mu shu.

Total came out to $42 for everything above which I thought was pretty darn good AND when they delivered, they even threw in a free slice of cheesecake, very nice touch!

Did I dare order from this resturant?  Yep, I did.  Mind you, I had barfed twice the night before (stomach flu, UGH!!).  I left work and went to Asia Express, upon recommendation from my boss that I get something to eat in order to keep up my energy.  I was scared though, because I didn't want to barf up Chinese food.  I ordered Wor Wonton soup.  My lil sis treated me, haha.  The soup was good, not great, but good.  My lil sis also bought me a bag of fortune cookies for $1.00  There was a good selection of food.  Had I been feeling better, I would've ordered a heck of a lot more.  But alas, just the Wor Wonton soup for that day.  The good news is that I didn't barf it up later on.  ;-)))

I can't believe all the good reviews for this place! I just moved to Newark and I was looking for a Chinese place and usually the scummier the look the better the food is but this place was just gross! The rice was all crusty and dry and the broccoli in the broccoli beef was not cooked. I got some other kind of chicken that was dry and the sauce was overpowering. Maybe it was just because I ordered from the counter..?

All these Yelpers can't be wrong though... maybe I'll try it again some day.
