First off, the GPS is a dirty, nasty liar when it comes to this place. Turn onto Ashton Avenue. Whatever other road they want you to continue on to no longer exists.

I've been here twice, and it's quickly becoming the place that I make excuses to go to Manassas for. It's a great little diner, where I've enjoyed both the breakfast and the lunch options.

On the weekend, they have crab cakes with poached eggs and hollandaise that is utterly awesome. Seriously, skip the canadian ham.

For lunch, I had the patty melt, and it was just like I want it: dripping with butter and juice. My fiance had a gyro, and he said it was fantastic. The fries were salty and hot and pleased this fry snob.

I need to get a doctor or something out here, so I can go more often.

Moved away from the area 18 months ago.  Returned for surgery.

Had dinner here and consistency and quality continues.

We had "Veal Picatta." It wasn't on the menu, but  they did have Chicken Picatta. They said they would make a meal any way you want so long as they have the ingredients. We also asked to substitute rice for pasta.

Outstanding. I also had salmon picatta special that also was outstanding.

Our favorite place in Manassas for meals made to order.

we got there too late for the buffet (boo!) but LOVED everything we ordered - tuna melt, chicken quesadillas, gyros, cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks.  the portions are enormous and it's obvious everything is made to order and not microwaved-prefab-franchise food.   friendly staff, casual atmosphere, and far enough off main roads that there's not a bunch of crazy traffic.  we'll definitely go back.

one weird thing though, they have tiny, one-person bathrooms and there was an apparent cat fight going on in the ladies' room - you could hear the yelling halfway across the place.  it went on for about 20 minutes.  weird.

This is an "off the beaten path" diner with excellent breakfast. The menu provides selections from traditional American, and American-style Italian, Spanish and Greek dishes. The service is friendly and the interior is casual, clean and populated by a large following of local residents.

Sunday morning brunch is quite crowded, as are weekdays at noon, so I don't even try to get in at those times. A late lunch or early dinner is best.

For lunch, the gyro wrap (huge!) and burgers are good, the fries are usually outstanding.

The most important thing here is that this is the deep Virginia suburbs. The clientele does not tend towards sketchy food trucks, dim Taquerias and no-English Pho restaurants. They want simple comfort food. The diner provides some extra variety while staying within those boundaries.

The breakfast is always good, the Greek items seem the most authentic, the Spanish items second, with the Italian food actually being the suburban American equivalent.

Some selections can be very, very greasy due to cheese overload, especially the American "Italian" selections. I have tried the lasagna twice now and both times the dish was not a layered lasagna but what seemed to be ricotta on the bottom, undrained ground beef in the middle and noodles, sauce and a hefty amount of cheese on top. One side of the lasagna dish was covered in a quarter inch of grease.

The tortellini in cream sauce has arrived swimming in almost an inch of melted butter. I have had a dinner gyro platter which featured dried out meat, the edges of which were too tough to pierce with a fork.

Some care is needed when exploring the menu. But every now and then I find a hit, such as a Chile Relleno special that was just amazing.

Thanks to Nando F for taking me here.

Utilitarian breakfast food at its finest, with a bit of culture thrown in.  I had some breakfast enchiladas with some chorizo and refried beans for $10.  Not bad at all, plus the food was quite good.  My friend had one of the breakfast sandwiches and he was quite satisfied with it.  I'm normally not in the Manassas area but I definitely recommend coming here if you're in the mood for good breakfast.  Maybe one day I'll come back.

For my first visit to this diner I decided that I would do something safe.  Because they have a variety of ethnicities on the menu i.e. italian and latin and american and greek, I was worried that they would do none of them well.  I opted for the bacon cheese burger pretty easy and of course Buffalo wings.

The wings were really good, tangy and spicey enough but 2 of the drum sticks had broken bones and that I just can't do so I left 2 of the wings on the plate (broken chicken wing bones creeps me out) but they were good, no where near the champ but they get an honorable mention.

The bacon cheese burger was really good, ordered it med-well.  I often err on the side of caution when coming to a new place and getting beef.  Usually I'll get beef just Med but anyhow the cheeseburger was really good.  This place is a bit out of the way for me and while I might be back sometime because this meal was enoyable, it might not be for awhile

We LOVE the Ashton Diner.  We moved to this area in 08 and could not seem to find good food.  We finally stumbled upon Ashton and it is wonderful.  The breakfast is delicious, I love the french toast especially.  We go to the Sunday buffet every weekend and it is excellent, food is always fresh and the omelette bar is awesome.
We have also been for lunch and dinner and the burgers and fries are very good.  Even the enchiladas are delicious.  My husband likes the breakfast burrito but likes to substitute hashbrowns for homefries.
We always sit in Paula's section.  She is the best waitress I have ever come by.  She is quirky and fun and we warmed up to her right away.  She is always right on top of her tables with refills, extra napkins and anything else we may need.  Certainly no other restaurants in town have such a great waitress.
    I would recommend to anyone.

Home-style cooking. Family friendly diner. Friendly and accommodating staff. Makes living in the community a lot more special. Like it a lot.

**The fish tacos were so much more devine than I ever expected.**

Wish the dessert counter had more options and more fruit pies as diners tend to have.

As much as I love this spot, I'll give it 4 stars compared to Yorkshire Restaurant, another nearby diner, which I'd give 5 stars. This location is far more convenient being centrally located in Manassas though.

I came here a few years ago for a car meet when I was into the whole 'car' scene. It is conveniently located about a mile away from my house (please don't stalk me). The area is a bit shady compared to the neighborhoods that surround it, but it's not bad at all.

This used to be a mexican place called Mexico Lindo.. but was bought out and now is a diner. I was here for a brunch on a weekend and the service was great. The food tasted homecooked.. much better than IHOP. I'd go here again if I was too lazy to make my own breakfast food.

This seemed like a really nice little family restaurant and I imagine that if I lived near it I could have happily have been a regular.

But, I tried to go for takeout (as their website advertises) and it was a disaster.  Even though I was the only person there, it took them 15 minutes to make my food, and the only hot dish was spaghetti!  I can cook spaghetti in less time than that.

The food was overpriced for the quality.  Worst of all, they didn't have any take out soda.  Not a fountain with disposable cups or cans or bottles or anything.

The restaurant had a nice run down atmosphere and the staff seemed friendly enough.  Parking was ample.

I've been back to Ashton Avenue Diner a couple of times since my first visit. The previous time I had a traditional breakfast: eggs, hash browns, English muffin, and bacon.

This morning Seab H. and I met for breakfast around 10:15 am. The place was packed, with lots of happy chatter going on. I arrived a bit early and nursed a couple of cups of java while waiting on Seab.

I decided to mix things up a bit and ordered something I've never had for breakfast - what they call their Guatemalan Tipico Breakfast:  flour tortillas, a 6 oz. skirt steak, 2 eggs, refried beans, and fried plantains, with a side of sour cream. I ordered the eggs over-easy and the steak medium.

I guess you are supposed to add stuff to the soft tortillas, roll them up, and then eat them - seemed like to much work, so after rolling up the first one, I simply used the tortillas to sop up the egg yolk and just wolfed everything down as is. I added a bit of Cholulu hot sauce to the eggs and refried beans, Everything was so tasty - the skirt steak was outstanding - I could have eaten 10 lbs of that! The fried plantains were the best I've ever had, they were not plain tasting - they had a nice, sweet, crispness to the outside of them, nicely caramelized.

Service was good. As always, Seab toyed with our server, in his trademark fashion - she seemed to enjoy his humor.

My only beef with the place is the bacon they serve has been this paper thin stuff. C'mon! Give us some thick sliced smoked bacon! Or at least an option to order that!

We stopped here for a sunday brunch after church (we'd been here for diner in the past as well).  I'll just echo what most other review say - small, casual diner with very good food, excellent prices, and very friendly service.

The sunday brunch had an omelet station, eggs Benedict, several kinds of pancakes, seafood gumbo soup, a wonderful pasta dish with chicken and shrimp, plantains, and the usual breakfast meats/potatoes.  My only disappointment was the lack of desert (just fruit/danish).  But hey, for $11 for adults and $5.50 for kids (including a drink) it was more than worth the price.

So, we have been here many times before, but we didn't know they had a Sunday brunch.  Thanks to Seab H. and his awesome review, we were eager to give it a try.  Today we finally got the chance.  We invited another couple to join us, and met them there at noon for a late-ish brunch before a day of football.

Wow.  We arrived and were seated, ordered coffee, waited for our friends, anxious to try everything we had seen on our way in.  I immediately went for the omelet station.  I chose all the stuff I love but is never on a menu in a single omelet.  Watching the guy at work was like watching an artist.  Brilliance.  I can't make an omelet to save my life, but this guy can probably do it with his eyes closed and one arm tied behind his back.  Plus, it was literally the best omelet I have ever had in my entire life.  Delectable.

Basically everything was delicious.  The savory stuff was slightly better than the sweet.  The potatoes were wonderful, and our friends said the breakfast enchiladas were to die for - I was too full at that point to get one.  The waffles, pancakes and french toast pieces were a little overdone from sitting out so long, so they were a tad rubbery in some cases - if you catch them right when they put them out, you are much better off.

Highlight of my breakfast was the omelet, but the fact that they have plantains - yummy ones - was also quite awesome.

The staff was great, checking on us repeatedly to make sure we had enough to drink. taking plates when they were empty, etc.

I am giving them four instead of five stars for the sometimes rubbery food in the brunch line and for the fact that when you leave Ashton Avenue Diner, you still smell like the Ashton Avenue Diner for a good ling while afterward.  It has that diner smell I hate, and you can't do anything about it.  Worth it for the food, but not somewhere you want to go if you have somewhere to go afterward and need to smell nice.

Overall, highly recommend it - especially the omelets - best of my life, truly.

I have mixed feelings about this place.

The variety on the menu is surprising, I agree. But, it seems like the servers are a bit too comfortable with the customers. I've been here twice with co-workers who are "regulars". The waitress will often tell us that we are being a pain and causing her problems, sometimes in jest, sometimes not.

I don't know. Maybe if I was a regular, I'd get the joke. But, honestly, it just feels like the servers are being rude and making your requests seem like a burden to them.

Food wise, I did have a very good greek omelet and a fantastic gyro salad with lamb. Stay away from the white gravy (its real bad) and their hashbrowns are quite bland.

    A super breakfast joint!

I love Ashton for its awesome breakfast selections.  We go often with the in-laws.  This is a popular place with the locals and on Sundays, church-goes are abound.  The Sunday brunch is decent, the omlette bar is super!  The booths are not too spacious and if you are dining with a grabby baby (like mine) it is a huge challenge to keep things away from her b/c the table is so small but she has to be pushed in so close to stay out of the asile.

Ashton is a really great bargain for a decent, filling breakfast.  My husband and I are never disappointed.  He loves the Mexican/South American breakfast choices while I stick to the old stand-bys like corned beef and hash.

The servers are friendly and attentive.  It is a rare trip to Ashton where my coffee cup or water glass goes empty.

I have been going to this little diner for about a year now. It was recommended to me by friends, who rave about their home fries.

From the outside the place does not look like much and the interior is simple but neat and kinda cozy. Appropriate for a diner.

Usually, I go on Sundays for breakfast or brunch. They always have a brunch buffet with an omelet station, SOS (Creamed Chipped Beef), sausage gravy and even fried plantains, among other things.

The menu offers Latin American, Greek and Italian foods. Continental items are also available. The portions are plenty and I recommend the Country Fried Steak with home fries.

Although the service is not great, the staff is friendly and I see the owner or manager every time, and he always smiles.

Great place to eat, where the prices are right and the food is good.

I saw another review on here stating that staff was too comfortable with the regulars.  Isn't that what you want to see at a restaurant???  I usually get a waitress named Paula that is hilarious...quirky sense of humor.  Many of the staff I've observed seem to be on a first name basis with the customers.

The wife and I ate here tonight.  We've been here a few times for breakfast.  I so wanted to like this place better but tonight wasn't a overall good visit.  I ordered the weekend special appetizer Buffalo Fried Shrimp which cost 8.99.  What we received was amount half the amount compared to what other restaurants give.  Not impressive at all.  I ordered the Chicken Tender platter (I know, lame) and the chicken was overdone.  The fries were excellent and the slaw was average.  The wife ordered the Chicken Fajita which she seemed ok with.

It's not gourmet food, but it's good food and well known to locals.  The prices are very reasonable as are the portions.   The menu for both lunch and dinner is huge with everything from Mexican, Greek, Italian to American.  It gets busy for lunch but isn't too bad at dinnertime.  I haven't tried breakfast.  I like the traditional pastas - the sauce has a little zing.  There's nothing fancy about the interior, and it's a little old, but it's clean and cozy.  Staff is very friendly.  Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) it just feels good to eat in a local place and eat unpretentious, traditional dishes.  And although it's not the type of restaurant I'd go to drink beers with the boys they actually do serve both liquor and beer.

This is a nice, family-owned diner that makes it customers feel as though you are also part of their family. I've only really come here in the mornings for breakfast, and I've never been disappointed. The servers are bright and cheery, which is definitely refreshing. All of the dishes are home cooked and come out to your table right on time. I've had the cuban french toast, huevos rancheros, greek omolette, pecan waffle, and just about everything at the Sunday brunch buffet. I'm in love. At the breakfast buffet they serve grits, pancakes, waffles, bacon, scrambled eggs, made-to-order omolettes, fresh fruit, muffins, fried plantains, ect. This is definitely your American diner with a bit of a Central American flair to keep things interesting. This place has always attracted a nice, friendly crowd as well. It's wonderful to have a great non-chain restaurant in Manassas.

Ok now if you know me you know this is the last place I would step foot in. Just the initial site makes me think food poisoning. Not saying this place was unsanitary, just saying I have a touch of OCD. LOL I step in, and kinda got a weird look from an older patron, more then likely a regular, who thought who the hell is she and why is she here. But I don't want to speculate. So I'm seated by my waitress with a smile, she gives me a menu and takes my drink order. After looking over the breakfast menu and a recommendation from my waitress I settle on the Guatemalen Breakfast Tipico. My food came out nice and hot shortly after. Three slices of plantain fried to perfection, eggs perfectly softly scrambled, delicious refried beans, and a skirt steak that was juicy, tender and seasoned to perfection. My meal also came with 4 corn tortillas, which I used to build sort of a breakfast taco with everything on my plate. To sum it all up the meal was Yum!!!! The good ol boy look of things had me scared at first, but I'm glad I stuck around. I'm giving this 4 stars, blame it in the OCD. LOL

Not bad for a diner. We go a few times a month for Sunday breakfast or brunch, and the food is consistently good. One of the best country fried steaks around. The brunch buffet is well-stocked with bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits, waffles, french toast, biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs benedict, hash, etc, but the best is the made-to-order omelets. If you like, the chef will serve the omelet on a tostada shell, topped with mild red and green salsa and sour cream. Surprisingly delicious! I haven't tried the Greek or Italian food, but I can tell you from looking over other people's shoulders that the gyros look great. The service can be spotty (we've been left sitting with the check in front of us a couple of times), but the staff is very friendly. If you're looking for a tasty, value-priced meal, check this place out.
