Great experience! I have my go to mechanic back home but just moved to Pleasanton. My car broke down and I needed to walk rest of way to work. They towed it, gave me estimate, fixed it, and picked me up from work. I got home only 30 min later than usual. Steve and his guys were very professional and I recommend them to anyone.

The SCOOP: Dropped in for an oil change and I brought my own motor oil and filter. Knowing that it'd be a quick job, they put my car on a lift and started right away. The whole process took 30 min. In the mean time I walked over to Sahara Market next door for a quick bite. When the car was ready, they charged me $20 for labor and topped off my fluids. I'm glad the staff at Ashton's are flexible and quick, which is more than what I can say about a dealership.

Good service for my oil change. They even had my favorite oil. Mobile 1 full synthetic!
I would recommend this place to a friend.

These guys are great I had a horrible experience at Stoneridge Chrysler Jeep. They were trying to bilk me for 2 months on an issue they should have identified in minutes. It took them over a month to identify it even though I told them they were wrong in their first diagnostics. They wanted over $660 after charging me $250 when Ashton fixed the easy problem for under $100 in under 20 minutes.

I took my Honda Odyssey in to get its brakes checked. I had new brake pads put in before we drove out from Colorado. By the time we left Yosemite, they were hot and gave off a burning smell. Steve adjusted my brakes for free, explaining in lay terms what was wrong with them. He even gave me notes in detail explaining what was wrong & what he fixed. This is an independent auto shop that I recommend and will go back to, if I need anything during my visit and when we're in the area again.

Ahston Auto FTW! When I moved to Pleasanton in 2006, one of the main things I looked for was an auto shop that would give me the same service as what I experienced in my previous city of residence.
Being a car guy I know exactly when someone is trying to pull a fast one over me as opposed to someone who is honest. Steve @ Ashton is perhaps one of the best mechanics I've met - friendly, fast, courteous and the prices are fair like no other! I brought/bring both my Miata and Mazdaspeed3 for regular service there and definitely recommend to do the same to everyone else! -

My first impression of this place is wow! I called around to a bunch of places to get quotes on how much the service I wanted was and how much in advance I had to make an appointment. They were able to see me the same day and without an appointment. The price wasn't cheap nor was it expensive. It was reasonable and about the same as what I would get at most other places. Definitely cheaper than the dealership. The location is tucked away in a small shopping center so unless you're looking for it, you won't find it. If I didn't have my GPS on me, I wouldn't have seen it.
Where this place really shines is customer service and their work. The work was very thorough and they even briefly inspected other components in the same proximity as where I ordered work. The guy who answered the phone and who I dealt with, Steve, was very friendly and helpful. I would have to say he was the friendliest out of the 10 other local places I called. They were very honest unlike most other places so when they say you need to get work done, you really do. It's not like some other places where they always push you to get services you don't need and using the line "in the worst case scenerio..." to nearly scare you into getting the service done like a lot of places do.
All in all I highly recommend this place to get your car serviced. They are honest , reasonable in price, and seem genuinely friendly to work with. Normally you only find two of the three, but this place has all three. I will definitely come back here for all my major car work and will recommend this place to anyone who asks. -

Went in for a problem based on the Yelp review, having never been there before. Told them the problem I was having, that had disappeared the day I took it in. They look for the problem but couldn't find anything wrong. I expected to pay the $175 estimate based on their evaluation of the car. They told me to take it home at no change since they couldn't find a problem! Said to bring it back with any more problems and they will check it out. Hopefully there's nothing wrong, but who has heard of a no charge testing and evaluation at an auto shop. This has definitely turned me into a customer!

THESE GUYS ARE THE REAL DEAL! i have been coming here for almost as many years as i've been driving! ashton has always taken such awesome care of me and they have never tried to sell me something i didn't need. HAZAH!
my most recent experience was not too long ago... i was having issues getting the alarm to disarm and really didn't wanna take it to the dealership. the owner tinkered and played with my car but couldn't figure out what the problem was. he told me because he couldn't figure it out himself, nor could he fix it, he wouldn't charge me for any of his time. he gave me his best suggestions to get around paying a bunch of money at the dealership. i took his advice and saved myself a couple hundred bucks!
i couldn't recommend this place more!!! i mean when it comes to your car; why wouldn't you take your car to an honest reliable shop?! -

Great service and great mechanics. Had my 1999 isuzu Rodeo blow a head Gasket. these guys fixed it and my other head gasket for a great price. These guys even went thru the trouble of changing my timing belt, water pump, valvle job, spark plugs, pulleys, oil, oilf filter and thermostat! It made sense to replace all of these parts at the same time because they were all coming out anyways, might as well put new parts in... When i got the car back i found out that they even put new hoses in the car for no additional charge, because the mechanic said it just made sense!. Give these guys 5 stars, after all of the customer service and great prices. Saved me a ton! It has been over 3 months and the car still runs like new! I refer all of my family and friends to Ashton and only get great feedback!

I've dealt with Jeff a few times on my daughters Jeep. You could not find a more honest guy to deal with. I would recommend him to anyone in the Tri Valley looking for a good mechanic. Two thumb's up!!!!

Ok imagine Don LaFontaine's voice saying "In a world...filled with teriible mechanics...preying on innocent consumers...and turning car repairs into expensive nightmares rendering human beings helpless as they hand over hard earned money to a cult of greasy players roaming our Earth...there is one true glimmer of hope left...Ashton Auto Service is on the case and saving humanitys slave driven dependence to cars...one hood pop at a time....all are welcomed and encouraged to sit down as you experience something amazing and refreshing these days called "honesty"...a humble and jolly man named Jeff may even share the history on how he acquired such a dynamic business and the loyalty he extends daily to mankind..."...a hahaha ok I am getting out of hand with all that and having way too much fun finding vocab that describes this place. In short, cause clearly I already covered the long, this is probably your last stop on the block and a wrap due to good old fashioned system of what I think a mix of scouts honor and not really digging getting sued sprinkled with getting sleep at night. Thanks Jeff and all the other guys for treating me with respect and giving the finger to car repairs and vulnerable women! My 2004 Jetta has never run better. This place fixed my car to the point that is runs like new again!! I was able to take it on a road trip which is something I have not been able to do in years. I was so impressed with the professionalism and level of service I received here. I brought my car in and they looked at said, they would call me in the morning and tell me what they believe the issue was. I received a phone call the following morning and they gave me a breakdown of the problem (that I have had for years) told me the total cost and I picked up my car that evening. I have never had a better experience and I highly recommend it!

Everyone in my family has been going to Ashton since 1997. They always have reasonable prices and I know they'll do a great job. Customer service is top notch.They have always taken good care of us. I recommend you take your car there if you want a good, reasonably priced repair.

This place is amazing! I took my car into another service shop and got told I needed a ton of work at a very big price. I remembered some friends telling me about Ashton Auto and decided to call them. When I called Steve answered and was incredibly helpful, thoughtful and very friendly. Not to mention a great listener. I am so glad I made that call. I brought my car in and it was very clear how honest this place was. When I drove it out after the repairs, it felt like I was driving a brand new car... I will continue to bring my car here and tell anyone that is looking for a mechanic to bring there car...I'm so happy that I found this place! Wish I would have known about it 13 years ago!

I have three cars, a Toyota , a B.M.W., and a ford truck. I have been taking all my cars to Ashton Auto for about 7 years. The owner Steve is Very honest, and really knows what he is doing. I recently got my tires rotated at a tire store. They told me I needed front and back brakes and assembly, and some other work to the rear end. They wanted 1300.00 to do the work. I took it to Steve at Ashton and he did the work and the bill was 490.00. A loyal customer. Jeff

I tried this shop because of other reviews on Yelp. They are right. The nicest, most straightforward, helpful shop. I went in and got their special new customer discounted oil change (only $21.) talked directly to the owner who gave me a good idea of the cost of some other work I was considering. I didn't have an appointment and I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. Try them, it's nice not to have to deal with the big chains and support the local business instead. I'll be a customer for a long time...

Same here, just found out about this place from yelp, checked the reviews, tried them...real deal! Steve the owner is nice to talk to, no hard selling, no tricks. I got the new customer 50% off discount, just mention you hear them from http://yelp.com. Service is fast, In-and-out in 40 minutes, highly recommending. Also go check out his collection of 1:24 Nascars and a few classics behind the counter.

guys are great.. great customer service.. really friendly.. Had my truck worked on.. got the transmission serviced.. coolant drained.. oil and spark plugs.. rear differential.. brakes flushed.. power steering.. the whole haul of all the fluids.. the pricing was great for all this work.. also, i asked them for specific plugs and oil's to use.. and they were accomodating and didnt even charge extra.. Will make sure to come here for any future needs on any of my cars... !!!
