This is a great little place to get a diner style breakfast.  The prices are great and you get a big plate of food.  Ashley is the sweetest woman.  She takes your order and makes it exactly the way you want it.  The food comes out super fast too.  None of us had the pancakes but I could smell them from the next table.  I feel like you can't lose here.  You can also get just about anything you want.  They have corned beef hash, breakfast sandwiches, steak and eggs, even pork chop and eggs.

It is a small place and a warning, they do not have air conditioning.  So in the summer with that big cook top going...pretty hot in there.  Nevertheless, a good place to get breakfast, and I will definitely go again.

    Find somewhere else.

One of the daily specials was grilled cheese, fries and soup for $6.  Decided I was really just hungry for a sandwich and I ordered a grilled cheese with ham.

Ashley made the sandwich, plopped it on a handful of chips, walked to the register and charged me $7.  I handed her a twenty and said "$7? I guess I should have ordered the special."  She said "You want soup?" and I said "Sure."  While she got me the soup (no choice, she selected), I picked up the menu and read that a grilled cheese with ham was ... $5.  I told her.  She repeated "oh, it says $5."  That was that.  No apologies, offers to refund my money.  Nothing.

I should have demanded a refund, but I took this as a $2 investment to help other people avoid this place at all costs.

I should note that the grilled cheese was average.  Grilled bread and cheese and ham.  Chips were stale.  Haven't tried the soup, chicken noodle, seems standard.

It looked like a promising place. We sat at the counter and watched everything. Ashley did not wear gloves and took money and continued to serve food without washing hands. She would use her finger to scrape of the butter on to the pancakes and also to serve bread. The other guy dropped a knife, picks it up from the floor, wipes it off and puts it back on the rack. The same hands touched someone's bread and serves it to them. The food was normal. We were overcharged. We won't come back here again. We just want a good brunch place!!!!!

The name really says it all - it's Ashley's place - she does everything from take your order to cook the food to serve it to ring you up. She was one other person to help her a bit, but this cute Greek woman runs the whole place by herself. You seat yourself and get your own coffee and waters and then place the order with her at the counter. It has an almost cafeteria feel, but the food is good and hearty. I ordered the veggie omelet and it was light and fluffy. My boyfriend had the corned beef omelet and was equally content.

Check this place out just to watch Ashley work the house!

Good breakfast during working hours, no food on the weekends which sucks for me when I'm hungover and want pancakes on a Sunday.  Place is old school like a dineete in the back of a Woolworth's.  Always friendly too.  A jem in an otherwise crap ghetto city.

Ashley's is the ONLY place in Hartford where my boyfriend and I will go for breakfast! Ashley, the owner, is such a doll! From taking your order, cooking it up and ringing you out- she does it all!! You also get a large plate of food for around $5-$10!!! Great old-fashioned breakfast for busy people on the go!

You have to like old fashioned cheap diner food to like Ashley's. Cheap, solid, and basic.
