Had breakfast here and loved it.
Very cute and laid back atmosphere. Plenty of space between tables which is so nice.
The prices are really affordable too. I had the blueberry pancakes with adk maple syrup. Nice fluffy pancakes with lots of blueberries. My husband had a combo dish-eggs, toast, and pancakes. -

This place is great, its adorable, it has coffee, friendly service, and oh vegan food. Yup thats right they have a vegan burrito. Which makes me oh so very happy. I am slightly confused at how a vegan burrito costs more then all the other food people ordered. My meal cost 7 (well 8 cause I wanted avocado...except never got it so back to 7), the monster bear sandwich (idk what it was really called, but it had like 3 meats!) cost only 5 dollars. and a waffle was around 5 as well. Hmm. Oh well. Everybody loved their meal, enjoyed the service, and appreciated the coffee.
It says its worth the walk, and it is. -

Ate here for lunch. The hot apple cider is delicious! I ordered the BLT sandwich with maple mayonnaise which was great! The rest of the family had burgers and paninis. We all enjoyed our food. The best part was the waitress who was super friendly and attentive. It's the second time I've eaten here and both times great food and friendly service. I highly recommend!!!

Good food. Friendly. My burger was to feature sliced cucumbers. They were out. Partner had diet coke (from can) with his meal. Ordered a second soda and there were out. Small place with 4 staff working. Surely one of them could have walked down street to grocer to get more soda and cucumbers. Oy!

We stopped into Ashley's for breakfast after reading other reviews and expected a good rendition. Unfortunately that was not the case. My wife did get a nice omelette cooked to order (spinach and goat cheese) and my son had the junior pancake and eggs which he enjoyed.
However, I ordered a simple two eggs over medium with rye toast. Who knew this would be so problematic! My plate came out with two runny (over easy) eggs and no toast. I asked for them to be cooked a little longer which the server obliged and she said my toast would be on its way as well. So I waited patiently for 10 minutes or more as I watched my wife and son finish their meals. Then the server presented us the check (including the charge for my food) yet my meal was still not served! After a moment of surprise I walked up to her and said to hold the order as it was too late and no point for me to continue waiting. She said she understood and kindly removed the charge from the bill. I'm still not sure why this was such a problem. It was probably an aberration but for our visit I have to give Ashley's only one star. -

I was worried that while on holiday in Lake Placid finding vegan friendly meals might be an issue. I mean it is usually doable to get something modified for sample without cheese or mayo. But out in the world breakfast almost always includes eggs. Ashley's had on their menu some black bean cakes which they happily subbed out for eggs on the breakfast sandwich making it an avocado, black bean and tomato. Not a traditional repast but a hearty one and it was tasty too! The avocado was at its peak of ripeness and provided a nice creamy offset to the bean cakes. And I love me some beans any time of day! My dining companions relished their meals of eggs etc and stated they would happily return. We just wished we had gone back for lunch there too that day as we ended up going to another restaurant which was very disappointing. But Ashley's was great and they were nice and gracious with tasty food so that makes for happy in my book.

I thought for sure I submitted my review when I returned from Lake Placid but I don't see it so I will do it again. I was there on May 13, 2011 for breakfast between conference sessions. I was looking for a quiet place that had good food and had read both good and bad reviews on this location, I took the chance and stopped. I'm glad I did the place was perfect no a lot of people and vary quiet just what I was looking for. I ordered the pancakes with 2 eggs and toast. The pancakes were cooked perfect as were the eggs. The fact that they serve real maple syrup was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and on the ball and the waitress kept my coffee and water glass full. This was a good find in a tourist minded town.

Oh dear. We stopped here for lunch after I read the glowing breakfast reviews. I'm vegan and my husband is omni. I ordered the veggie wrap (the only vegan possibility on the lunch menu- I'd hoped Ashley's would have MORE vegan selection than the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery, but instead it had LESS) and he ordered a BLT. Both sandwiches were bland and unappealing. On the positive side the waitstaff was friendly and the service was quick so we got back on the road quickly.

Being a vegan while traveling can be a bit tough, however this was such a delightful cafe to stop in. After treating myself to a soy hot chocolate that was excellent, I ended up sitting down and enjoying their vegan bean burrito. The service was fast and the food was so tasty-great portion too! Not overwhelming in size which is great for a small eater like myself haha. I felt welcomed in this restaurant and would highly recommend it to other travelers, both vegan and non-vegan alike :)

Ashley's was really, really okay. We were staying just a few doors down and strolled right in for a breakfast/brunch around 10 am on a Saturday & grabbed a seat in the windows with a great view of fall leaves. Nice. Our waitress was mega slow to come over and we actually wondered if we were in a place where you are meant to serve yourself. Luckily, before we had to get up and ask if we were missing something, she came over and asked if we "even have menus yet?" After that bump, things got better, though. Our waitress definitely had her head at about the same altitude as the top of Whiteface Mountain, but she was sweet and the food was good. I had an egg white western omelette, but subbed sausage for the ham. It was delicious. I also had a side of corn beef hash, which was also really tasty. My boyfriend had almost the same meal, but with mushrooms. They were happy to add/sub, which was nice. All was good, we paid and were happy, and left full. It was a tasty breakfast, and for what we wanted to tide ourselves over before a late afternoon wedding, it did the job. It's not a special occasion place, though.

If you're in the area, you must get breakfast here. Actually, you don't have much choice since there are few options if you want breakfast. Nevertheless, it is a charming, down-to-earth place with excellent food.

This is a great little place that serves a wonderful breakfast, the service was a little slow in preparing the food. But other than that it was a great find in a high profile town.

Really yummy! Friendly staff, so nice & helpful. Love the amaretto lattes. Definitely get the strawberry pancakes. Mmmmm. Fresh fruit and yogurt plate is good & healthy, too. A really nice place to start your day. There's a little display where you can buy locally made jewelry, and they also have comfy leather couches in the back where you can sip coffee and read the local paper. Will definitely be going back there on our next trip!

For breakfast we had a hard time finding similar restaurants in Lake Placid. We got this from a friend who used Yelp the previous morning with a good recommendation. We loved the french toast sticks and cheese omelet and the coffee was great. We were traveling from the Capital Region and it kept us fed for the ride home.

I don't know if the other reviews were posted by friend of the establishment or not. But this place is anything but GOOD. There were 4 girls taking care of 6 tables and they were struggling, the bad thing was that it wasn't busy. One of the girls was on the floor waiting on tables in the back cooking and running to the market to get supplies. Now on to the food... it was nothing more than mediocre for $7.95 you get 2 eggs, the thinnest bacon I've ever seen. The potatoes were pretty good, but you only get one slice of toast what's up with that? Do yourself a Favor and head up the road about 6 blocks and get a great sandwich or learn the hard way like me.
