Ashland, OR
Best place to shop for gifts, hands down. We've made a conscious decision of late to buy locally unless it's completely impossible, and the AAE is helping us keep that resolution. Whether it's a baby shower or a birthday, Valentines or Easter, the Emporium has SOMETHING appropriate. Lots of 'recycled' and 'upcycled' furniture and such in the back of the store, too - you could furnish a whole house here and save a bundle.
Handmade jewelry, vintage clothing and household items, textiles, photography, books, pottery, imports, handbags, glass, and art art art everywhere - there's like 200 individual vendors all operating side-by-side in this truly one-stop-shopping venue ... a huge asset to Ashland's often overpriced retail offerings. And the family who runs the place is as nice as nice can be --- real locals :-) -

Ashland, OR
Ashland Artisan Emporium opened at the trailing end of 2010 in the huge space that was left vacant when D.J.'s Video relocated their store to A Street.
With around 17,000 square feet divided into individual booths (over a 100 I would guess) the artists, crafts people, antique dealers that have filled the location offer something for everyone.
I have been pleasantly surprised at how affordable most of the vendors have priced their goods. -

Picture thrift/antique store meets craft fair and you've got this store. Local artists and artisans rent out spaces and display their wares, while shoppers browse for whatever tickles their fancy. There were plenty of used books, homemade chocolates/soaps/candles/teas, antiques, clothing, and art, most at very reasonable prices. It's not at all in a conspicuous spot, being located in a strip mall just down the street from Wiley's, but it's a must stop for visitors looking for souvenirs from Ashland.
