This little neighborhood park is a true gem. It's not for everybody but if you have a kid under 5, it's for you! We joke that it's the park where all the Little Tikes toys go to die. Parents whose children have outgrown their toys drop them off at the park - and amazingly, they stay. My son loves pushing all the ride-on toys around the park (there is a nice walking "lap" around the main area).

It's small enough to easily keep an eye on your little ones but varied enough to keep their interest. There are two play structures with 3 or 4 slides each (one is taller than the other). There is a sand pit and two sets of swings; one with the harness seats and one with the regular seats. There is often a wait for the harness seat swings because there are only 2; if I had a wish, it would be that they get more swings.

Oh, and the first reviewer is correct that the bathroom is often closed. Sometimes it's open, sometimes it's not, and in my experience, it doesn't always correlate with when there is a party in the center.

There is also an area with plastic play structures for the 1 and 2 year olds. You know the plastic slides that you get for your back yard? They have about a dozen of those things.

We were just at the park today and it was packed. We ran into several neighbors we knew. All the kids were having a blast. If you live in or near Brookhaven and have little ones, come on out!

I thought it was Judgement Day.  SkyNet, not Bible, but still.  The playground was deserted, but tricycles and other tiny toys were scattered around the playground as if they had been in use just a moment ago.  And the only building on the premises was locked.  Were the darling little tykes being held captive?

As it turns out, the toys live here.  They've been contributed by local residents so that nobody has to pack up their own toys when going to the park.  That so many toys in good condition have remained here attests to the quality of my new neighbors.

I'd love it if there were restrooms and cold water available, but apparently you only get those with a $25/hr pavilion rental (4-hour minimum).  Still, if you're planning a family reunion and your family doesn't drive you to drinking (there's a no-alcohol policy, this being a public park), that's not a bad deal.
