The presence of indoor and outdoor go karts more than makes up for the 10 Commandments billboard on the wall.

After hitting up the Highland Brewery tour, we naturally decided to go ride some go-karts. The Fun Depot is a little trippy. It's got pretty much everything you could ask for in the fun department with the random religious vibe thrown in with biblical stuff posted around the place.
We were here for the go-karts, so that's all we did. Maybe i'm just a crappy driver, but my stupid go-kart would get passed when i had the pedal to the metal. Very frustrating. Had i been in the first place car, this place would probably get 5 stars. But there is no way i suck that bad at driving.

Anywho, we bought some card and it ended up being like $5 per person for a 5 minute drive. Seemed fair enough. Wouldn't have minded a few rounds in the indoor batting cages, but we were on a dinner mission (no religious pun intended).

I used to work for a summer camp in Mills River, NC and sometimes the kids would have a night out at Fun Depot and I would have to supervise. I never had to pay to get in, but if I was coming here with friends (it's actually something I'd probably never be interested in doing) I wouldn't want to be paying to waste my money on games and such.

I must say I'm not a fan of gaming places. I think they're dirty, screaming children annoy me, and I don't like wasting money. But since I wasn't paying, I decided to have fun..and I actually did. You can purchase cards which add up points you can use on rides/games. The go karts and the laser tag were the best. The laser tag is 2 stories, about 20 people at a time running around, and you get a print out of your score at the end. I spent most of my time in this.

The go karts are outside, and if it's raining they will shut them down. There's a food area, but it's just full of typical junk food- friend chicken, hot dogs, candy & ice cream. Things you really don't need to hop your kids up on inside one of these places.

There's batting cages as well, which was a hit with the guys. And plenty of video games including Dance Dance Revolution and car racing games.

Asheville's Fun Depot has a variety of activities to offer in a family friendly atmosphere. They have a climbing wall, mini-golf, laser tag, go-kart racing, batting cages and arcade games all within the same (mostly indoor) facility. Except for perhaps the go-kart racing, this place is fully accessible even if it is snowing outside.

It is a conservative establishment. Throughout the building and the miniature golf course you will find signs with Bible verses posted on them.

The prices are quite reasonable, and the staff seems adequate. The facilities are not 'state of the art,' but many of the attractions have been undergoing renovations and remodeling recently.
