I don't know how i never got around to reviewing this place...this place is AWESOME!
I have been going here for nearly 10 years and they NEVER disappoint. Their flowers are always fresh, last a long time, and they are more than willing to make any kind of custom arrangements above and beyond their already great selection of flowers and arrangements.
Their service is quick and friendly and i would recommend them to ANYONE and EVERYONE!
Happy Flowering! -

They seriously make the best flowers. This is the spot when it comes to flowers because they do it right. It might not be the cheapest flower shop, but you gotta pay for high quality flowers.
Marcy is awesome too. She's a pleasure and always fun to interact with. Something that's great is you can call in your order and being a dude I can just be like... "Make something pretty with like some pink colors?" And then I come and pick up my flowers and it's like totally beautiful. GENIUS! They're great at what they do and I'll be picking up some flowers again. -

Great neighborhood florist, I called last minute on Valentines day, I was working in Panama and could not be with the woman that I love and I wanted to propose marriage! So in spite of being so busy delivered a really amazing dozen roses in a purple vase all dressed up and arranged with a note with my simple request 'will you marry me' she said yes!..(on skype) now I go to Ashby florist whenever I need flowers, Ashby's flowers are 1000% better than the ugly flowers at whole foods...and they are right next to wholefoods...so east bay, support local non chain owned businesses and enjoy the fair trade healthy flowers that they offer...

I had just recently had knee surgery and wasn't progressing to health as quickly as I hoped. Sunday was my wife's 31st birthday and I still wasn't able to move around without her help, meaning that I couldn't go pick up the gift I had planned for her. I called the Ashby flower shop while she was out of the house on Saturday and they put together a beautiful arrangement of flowers and delivered it on Sunday for her. I was really happy with their flower service.
To top it off, and the reason for the five star review, is that while we were talking on the phone I had to go get my wallet from across the room. This is a long procedure for someone on crutches who hadn't properly prepared and we chatted while I did it. The young lady on the phone offered if there was anything at all she could get my wife and offered to go to the Whole Foods around the corner. My wife is an extremely particular eater and I didn't want to have to describe this to her but an idea popped into my head. My wife's favorite dessert in the whole wide world are the cupcakes from CupKates food truck. I mentioned this to her and she offered to go to the truck, wait in line, and get the cupcakes for her, which she did! My wife was beyond surprised and beyond happy when the delivery truck came and gave her the bounty of gifts, it was a solid win!
I tipped them generously, but nothing makes up for the generosity of originally proposing the idea and taking the time to do it. I'll be using Ashby Flower Shop for all my local flower purchases in the future :)
Thanks! -

Beautiful Arrangements! I came in on a last minute time frame to get flowers for my friends daughters baby shower! I was beyond pleased with the results...the Service was amazing. Marcy went out of her way to help me get the best! I have since told many people about this flower shop and will continue to do so..it is a refreshing to go to a business where people love what they do. Can't wait to come in again.

Thank you Marcy and Iraj.
First off, this is a nice little locally-run flower shop that is very much hands-on with the way they deal with their customers. They take the time out to consider each customer's needs and churn out great arrangements delivered in a timely manner, and in great condition.
I am *extremely* appreciative of what the store owners (Marcy in particular) have done for me. I had a pretty complicated request for delivery on Valentine's Day (which, understandably, is the busiest day of the year for flower shops), and despite the rush going on around them, they were still able to work with me personally on setting up my flower arrangement and delivery scheme. They were obviously very very busy but Marcy still accommodated me with patience and a smile on her face.
Trust me, run of the mill flower shops wouldn't take the time out for special arrangements, most especially during extreme rush periods like Valentine's Day. This is why I have been most impressed with Ashby Flower Shop's service. Not only was the final delivered product great, but the entire process of setting up the delivery, which was a bit more complicated than usual, was a breeze. -

Wow! What a great flower shop. What they do with flowers is pure art. I have never had such wonderful and consistent service while ordering flowers.
Marcy could not be any sweeter or more helpful in the customer service arena; helping to make floral-related decisions. Ashby Flower Shop's gorgeous bouquets and arrangements are incredibly fresh and last for a surprisingly long time.
I would definitely recommend the entire experience at Ashby Flower Shop. Ask for Marcy, and tell her that a happy customer sent you. -

Oh how disappointed I am in Ashby Flowers!
The review stating they give great service on Holidays was no where to be found on my last visit there....
I've been a loyal customer for over 10+ years but my last experience was so horrible that I no longer care to give them my business...
What a shame!
On the way to meet the fam. to celebrate yet another horrible American holiday I made a detour from Oakland to Palo Alto and stopped in Berkeley first -- just to make sure that I had some great flower arrangements to present to the wonderful women in my life....
I arrive at the flower shop to find that the wonderful $10 arrangements have gone up to $15! With the intention of buying 5 bouquets and expecting a certain price, I ask if there is any way I can get a discount on the 5 bouquets....
I'm not hard to please. I would have been happy with $5-10 bucks off....I understand prices are being raised on EVERYTHING but a $30 increase is pretty significant....
so I ask for a discount. And instead of receiving a respectful or professional reply of no or sorry maybe next time -- I am received with a scoff and a "Are you kidding? Not today?!" These are the prices I'm paying...I'm getting charged so---"
So I pay the $81 F*ing dollars and walked out feeling jipped....I arrive to my loved ones and place the flowers for my ma in a vase, only to find that the arrangement is half the size that it would usually include!
Half the flowers for one and a half times the price?!
Thanks but no thanks, Next time I'll find a local place where I know my business is appreciated. -

I needed flowers this morning. I arrived a little after the store was supposed to be open only to find it was closed...
Just as I was about to leave the owner/worker(?) drove up in his van and he politely apologized about being late. He made up for it by hooking me up with a really nice discount on a beautiful bouquet of seasonal flowers.
I usually only review restaurants but I was very impressed with the quality of the flowers as well as the friendly service. I definitely recommend them! -

If it was not for the people at Ashby flowers, I would probably be celibate, and not by choice.
The flowers are fresh, the prices are good, they will custom design and order flowers for me. They even give great service on mothers day or Valentine's day.
They keep me out of trouble and that is worth a 5 or more. -

Disclaimer: I am friends with Marcy's cousin, and have known her for years.
That said, I love this flower shop! The flowers are pretty affordable, the space is convenient, and the people are wonderful. Marcy is funny, friendly, ebullient, bubbly, and can arrange flowers like a mofo! I like that the shop is family-run, and that they treat everybody like family -- or at least really nicely.
Like many people, I know that I have a lot of options when considering florists -- Marcy makes it a no-brainer. -

Ashby Flowers has been at the corner of Ashby & Telegraph for years. They always have a great selection, and the premade bouquets are a great deal. They also have a selection of balloons, stuffed animals, vases, cards, etc.
I ordered my wedding flowers from Ashby Flowers, as well as petals to create a layer on the isle and more to throw as we walked down the isle. I told Marcy to make whatever bouquet she thought was best (we didn't have "colors" or anything) and I was very pleased with how it turned out. However, the total cost was nearly twice what I expected (but I didn't do my proper duty of creating a contract).Listed in: I put your kids through…, Berkeley, My wedding

Store owner Marcy is the sweetest lady ever! She arranged flowers for my wedding and everything was perfect... more than perfect! She has done this for many years and have worked with MANY brides so she knows and understands what we go through.
She listened to all my ideas even though it wasn't concrete. I had some photographs but wasn't exactly sure what any of the flowers were. But she did! She was super knowledgeable. She had some great suggestions and let me decide if i liked it or not without being pushy. I wanted some nontraditional items like cabbage and asparagus and she loved my idea! She was willing to go and pick those items up. I even had some very last minute changes and requests and she did them all without any hints of complaints or frustration in her voice.
She made my bouquet perfect for my petite frame, knowing that the flower should complement and not overwhelm the bride! My bridesmaid bouquets were EXACTLY how I wanted them. Beautiful!!
i highly HIGHLY recommend ashby flower shop for any brides! I did a lot of research with different flower shops in the area and this was the best one i found. Price is reasonable too! I loved working with Marcy!
Location is right in the parking lot of Whole Foods... -

This is the closest flower shop to where I live, but a friend of mine who lives in Oakland regularly drives here to get her flowers, even though there are a dozen closer places where she could go.
Everyone connected with the shop is friendly and knowledgeable. There's a great selection of flowers, at more-than-fair prices. They can create amazingly artistic arrangements from your (my) vague ideas. I've never had a bad experience at Ashby Flower Shop.
If you give them a try, you may find that like my friend you'll be willing to drive past other flower places (some of them perfectly decent) to get your flowers here. -

Ordered a lei from here for graduation over the phone. The woman was so helpful and let me know that the dyed variety of lei's might bleed in the rain. I didn't want to chance it so I ordered white and it was gorgeous. She even advised me to leave the lei soaking in water if I wanted to wear it again for my next ceremony two days later. They are so awesome and helpful with a good price as well!

I didn't realize how good the Ashby Flower Shop was until I moved to San Francisco. I used to always get graduation/any special occasion flowers from Ashby flowers so I have been there around a dozen times? I really like the flower arrangements they make for you. Just walk in and say, can you make me a $40 bouquet with lots of yellow? and BAM! just like magic, they make a very well arranged bouquet for you.
But one thing with this place, the bouquets they make are very big and they don't wrap them very tightly (that's just their style) so make sure you tell them you want a very tightly wrapped bouquet or you'll end up with an enormous flower garden hanging off your arm.
Overall: very nice people who are also very skilled at what they do. have been to many florists in SF and haven't found any as good as Ashby flowers. Try them out and you'll be pleasantly surprised. The price isn't bad either. -
Review from Molly W.
Whenever I forget a birthday, or have no idea what to get someone I always think- flowers.
I like this place because it is cheap (if you stick to the flowers outside, on the left), and has gorgeous flowers. The bouquets always seem like an expensive way to go when you can pick out the flowers you want for way less, and they make you a bouquet anyways!
The guy working there remembered me and I have only been there a handful of times. Thats why I buy flowers here and not next door at Whole Foods... -

I have been going to Ashby Flowers for many years now and there is a reason why I kept on going back. Not only are the flower fresh and the selection great. But the folks there (ahem...Marcy and Iraj) know their stuff...oh, and they are funny and charming too.
When the event of all events of my life - my wedding - came upon me, I knew exactly where to call. And yet again, Marcy blew it all out of the water. I asked for a style and gave her some numbers...et VIOLA! We got exactly what we wanted - no worries, no stress, very simple and elegant.
Thank you Marcy.1 Previous Review:

This is a great little Berkeley establishment that has always done a better job for me than the much nearer florists to my Oakland home.
Usually I find an inexpensive mixed bouquet out front that I like ($10-$15) and ask Marcy to add some flowers to it. I'll point out some that appeal to me -- occasionally I'll even get the name of the flower right -- and she'll help with color and advise on whether there's a better choice. Today I asked for a $40 max and the very fresh bouquet was just what I wanted; it barely fit into my car it was so big. -

Excellent! Brilliant! This place made me look real good in my girlfriend's eyes for valentines day! She disregarded the fact I had one eye that worked and 3 noses on my face.
It was my first time not getting my flowers from Safeway and let me tell you with a little planning flower shops are worth the money. I told them my girl's favorite flowers were and they made it happen.
Roses, lilies and birds of paradise were the three I asked for. I have a hard time trying to get birds of paradise at a grocery florist shop. The only downside about Ashby flower shop, is they don't sell milk and eggs. Good job Safeway.
They asked me if I wanted to just give a credit card so I didn't have to wait in line to pay. All I had to do was go to the back and pick them up.
Best moment was when I picked up the flowers and so were other guys. They saw my and said good job. Thanks guys. But hey we're all winners we went the extra mile and went to a flower shop. I am safe in betting we all got some valentines day action that night. -

I didn't used to get my girlfriend flowers very often because I only knew about expensive florists. Ashby Flower Shop is great for a few quick, sweet smelling flowers for my honey. I don't inherently see the cost benefit of flowers, so frankly, cheap is the way to go for me.

Ashby Flowers is awesome! I work for Berkeley High School and am the Inclusion Specialist. I work with kids who have special needs and many of them come from low income families. I had a few going to Jr Prom and was helping them out in any way I could. I called Marcy to order corsages and boutonnieres and let her know my situation. She really helped us out with our situation and the flowers were beautiful!

When my second grandchild was born, I asked them to please send something extra special (the day the baby brother was coming home) for the Big Sister. They not only helped me with what to send, but delivered it when she would be home (since the time kept changing, waiting for hospital to release them).
My granddaughter was excited and happy with the balloons and dalmatian puppy they added to the roses.
Personal service was outstanding as was the gift. Highly recommended -

I had the most amazing flower arrangement from here for my wedding. Marcy really managed to capture my vision, which was a bit different then the usual. I had blue and purple glitter roses and star gazer lilies as the main attraction. My arrangement also included various and assorted other treasures such as those purple furry balls..(I don't know there official name) I thought the price was reasonable, my flowers were ready on time and all done with humor which is plus in my book. I highly recommend!

Marcy at Ashby Flowers did all the flowers for my wedding and she did an AMAZING job at an incredible price!!!! The flowers were gorgeous, exactly the colors I wanted, perfectly arranged and all around unbeatable!!!! And, exactly on budget!!
When we met, I just told her the color family I wanted, that I wanted whatever was in season (to keep the cost down), and how I wanted them to fit in with the rest of the colors. We walked around the shop and she asked me about different flowers, so she got a feel for my taste. Then I put it in her hands to make all the final decisions, and WOW!!! Peonies, Roses, Gerberas, and a bunch of others I can't even name, colors just right, amazingly beautiful!!!
Ashby Flowers is a small store but busy (because they're so good), and once or twice it was hard to get ahold of Marcy (the wedding was right after all the graduations, which is a crazy busy time for them), but then when I spoke to her I was always assured that she knew exactly what I wanted. And she was so right!!
I had consulted with other florists who thought that centerpieces needed to cost over $100 each - holy cow are you kidding!?! I went to Ashby and I told her how much I could spend (which was *really* not that much for a wedding with 90 guests) and she absolutely made it work. She respected my budget and didn't suggest I had to spend more. And, the flowers were so incredibly beautiful, I couldn't have been happier with them!!!
Thank you Marcy and Ashby Flowers for my PERFECT wedding flowers!!!! -

There are a lot of great places to buy flowers in Berkeley, but sometimes for maximum impact you need to have an arrangement delivered. I had them design and deliver a floral arrangement for an anniversary, and they did a fabulous job: the delivery was on time (there's a reasonable fee for deliveries), the flowers were beautiful (and fresh - they lasted a good ten days), they worked within my budget, and they were very nice folks, to boot.

After reading the rave reviews on Yelp, I decided to give Ashby Flowers a try. I called on Thursday afternoon and placed an order for a floral arrangement to be delivered to an office at the UC campus on Monday morning. The woman I spoke to took down all my information. Late Monday afternoon I called and verified with a gentleman that the flowers were delivered that morning. My daughter called Tuesday to say they were never delivered! I called and spoke to someone who first asked if I had actually placed the order with them and not another florist. This was after I told her that the delivery was verified the evening before. Apparently the driver was unfamiliar with the campus and delivered to flowers somewhere else. She delivered a new arrangement to the correct person with 30 minutes which was very nice of her. The joy of sending flowers is that element of surprise which didn't happen this time.
