Finally an excellent Indian Restaurant! I am Indian and I love and know my indian food very well. It's what I grew up on. Most Indian restaurants in the DC area frustrate me because it seems like all their dishes taste the same with the same base curry and same use of spices and just adjust a few things here and there. Ashburn Grill Kabob stands out from the rest. I have eaten here several times and have ordered several different dishes with all dishes having their own unique flavor and something to remember it by. The chicken curry doesn't taste like chicken tikka malasa though equally delicious! oh and the chicken Biryani is TO DIE FOR! It seems as though the cook really took his time and effort and prepared the dish with a lot of soul into it.

My only gripe is that I live in Bethesda, MD and the restaurant is in Ashburn, VA but I STILL take the weekend hike to Ashburn just to get my indian fix at this awesome new restaurant. Please open one in Bethesda!!!

Apart from the delictible food, the restaurant has a nice ambience and the service is great! I envy the folks living in Ashburn who can frequent this amazing restaurant more often than I would like to!

Go try out this awesome new Indian restaurant, you will leave licking ur fingers!!

First and foremost, set aside the name of this strip mall establishment, as this is your classic Indian restaurant with a modern catch-all store front name. Second, even if you don't realize it, know that the music playing in the background is quality, classic 80s, top-shelf, Indian-movie music.

In my opinion, you shouldn't go to an Indian restaurant for anything other than quality food. You want your butter chicken to be creamy and thick like syrup, you want your tikka masala to be so spicy that your nose starts to run, you want the masala tea to be full of unpronounceable spices, you want the mango lassi to be so thick you need a spoon to eat it, you want the lamb to fall off the bone like it was attached with velcro from the 80s, and you want the desserts to be so silky smooth and filling so you were wishing you weren't already on the last notch of your belt. Oh, and a full liquor and beer menu doesn't hurt either. It's important to alleviate the spice with a clean glass of Indian lager (even if it is brewed in Pennsylvania).

The Grill Kabob meets all these requirements in a small quaint atmosphere without breaking the bank. Even, with so many choices of Indian food within a few mile radius, I always find myself coming back to the Grill Kabob for some takeout or a quick sit-down meal. The food comes out quickly and accurately, and the meal is always prepared to individual specification (Indian hot please!)

With the turn-around and name-changing some of the nearer Indian establishments have seen, I hope Grill Kabob has the popularity to stay.

Recommended dishes: butter chicken, chicken tikka masala (spicy!), chicken korma, garlic naan

I have tried this place twice and although I feel like for the most part they get the food almost right there is always an element of "Something is missing" ... I ordered a "To Go" order last night for dinner and my ordered included, "Chicken Tikka, Saag Paneer and Chicken Curry" ... Chicken tikka was kinda hard and dry and the saag (Spinach) was a bit too liquidy ... The paneer (Cheese) in the saag (spinach) was fresh and of good consistency. The chicken curry simply didnt taste very fresh and the consistency wasnt right for me.

Overall an okay place. Nothing special. Works for the emergency Indian food cravings.

This is an excellent little Indian restaurant!  We are by no means experts on Indian food - what little exposure we have to Indian food has been through some homecooking of Indian friends of ours.  Everything we ate tasted like our friend's homecooking, though, so I take that as a very good sign!  The samosas were a delicious start and we also enjoyed the butter chicken and dal makhani.

The decor is very modern and nice - it's a great little restaurant.  The staff was very attentive and wanted to make sure that the food was cooked to our liking and that we enjoyed it.  We will definitely be going back for takeout or dining in.

I'm no expert on Indian food but this cute little restaurant is a keeper. We ordered the Samosa-Chaat appetizer and it was delish! For my entree, I had the Malabar Fish Curry. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. Loved the rice and fresh naan too. I agree with a previous review that said a lot of Indian restaurants have a lot of dishes that use the same spices so everything ends up tasting similar. It is not the case here! Each dish had its own unique taste... We'll definitely be back.

We ordered food for our party from this place and it was just awesome. I had tried this restaurant once and our experience was not great as we asked for Vindaloo and what was given to us was nothing even close to Vindaloo but it tasted good.

We decided to give this restaurant a second chance based on good reviews and trust me, I was pleasantly surprised. We had ordered paneer makhni, aalo gobi and chicken kadai and they were so well made. I am very picky about indian food and they exceeded my expectation. Food was very delicious. Keep up the good work.

It is true that the name is deceptive--Grill Kabob, but it is a really YUMMY Indian restaurant. Although I have my favorites (and they know them now when I come in), everything I have had there has been delicious, and I trust this place to take friends to introduce them to what good Indian food should taste like.

From the biryanis to the naans to the sweets, all flavors are disctinct and fresh. My vegetarian step-daughter really loved the eggplant, and I have to have my palak paneer. Hubby goes for the Rogan Josh, and all are full-bodied and satisfying.

Attentive and courteous service beats someone else's "fast" and wrong any day. I'd rather reap the benefits of careful, purposeful and they get the order right.

Check out the buffet--all the classics, and all sure to please.

Super small inside but has a great weekend buffet for super reasonable. Best butter chicken in the area, considering Ashburn has 5 or 6 different Indian places. It's tucked away, but comes up on most GPS's

This place has some of the best Indian food I've had in the DC Metro area! I was able to try a little bit of everything, and I would highly recommend the palak paneer which was wonderfully spiced and the tandoori chicken which had the most amazing flavour.

I really do love this place, and highly recommend it - if I lived closer I would eat there all the time!

I love this restaurant! Don't let the name fool you, it is not Afghan kebab, it is Desi curry (according to their menu).  The chef has been at a couple of my other favorite Indian restaurants around northern VA, he makes an AMAZING chicken tikka masala that has kept me coming back to his restaurants for more than 10 years. So glad it is close to home cause now It's the only Indian restaurant I need to go to. Prices are lower than expected, quality is very good (believe me, I wouldn't go back otherwise), portions are fair although for takeout the rice portion is a little small (but again for the price I'm not gonna complain).  I'm not Indian, but if you want Indian food that a white guy can vouch for, give it a try. And if you get the chicken tikka masala ask for the Raaga red sauce.

Keeping my four stars. We ordered take out and the food was just as good and the service just as friendly and scatterbrained.

The name of the restaurant is deceptive.  This is an Indian restaurant, not a kabob house.  Great food at very reasonable prices.

The Palak Paneer was nice and creamy with great flavor.   The vindaloo isn't as tomatoey as some that I've had, it also had a more creamy texture.  They have a very nice lunch buffet on weekends.

Dinner tonight was good. Just good though. We were the only ones in tonight from 5:15pm-6:15PM. I think they were still getting ready for the dinner service even though they were supposed to open at 5PM.

The Aloo Chaat Papri for appetizer was tasty. I had the Lamb Kashmiri which had a very strong tomato flavor. I ordered medium, and with previous experience at other Indian restaurants, I expected a bit more heat.

We also had the Dhaniya Lamb. It was full of spices - I liked it a bit better than mine. Again, more spice here than heat.

The garlic naan was quite good. Not greasy as some other restaurants. Thumbs up there.

The service was friendly and the decor was nice.

Overall, OK. I will go back to try the tandoori kabob.

We love the food at this restaurant! We've been there a few times now and every time the quality of food and service was consistently good! The menu is diverse and they will even make something off-the-menu if you ask them to. We had Kadhai Paneer and Butter Chicken last time and they were both outstanding! A must visit for an Indian food lover!

This restaurant has some truly yummy Indian food!  I was definitely impressed.  I ordered the Chicken Tikka to start with as an appetizer, the Makhmali Kabab, and the Garlic Naan - it was all so delicious!  The food was not expensive at all and well worth it - definitely check it out for some great food without making a dent in your pocket.  I'll be going back!
