A clean and spacious room with a fireplace, a jacuzzi tub and a window that opens up between the bed and the tub...perfect for harassing your significant other while they wash.
The continental breakfast selection is quite extensive, they have wine tasting every evening and watching the sunset from the rooftop garden was one of our favorite things we did all weekend.

We spent a night here recently and were fairly unimpressed with this hotel. We were looking for a place in Morro Bay to stay for the weekend and read Yelp reviews to help us decide. The room was expensive ($250 for the night)...not sure how people got the $100/$150 room rate? Maybe on Hotwire or some place. We got a room that had a balcony (which was right above the sidewalk), a whirlpool tub and no fireplace.
The room itself smelled heavily of cleaning chemicals, had a tiny bathroom with an equally tiny "jetted tub" (you definitely could not fit 2 normal sized adults in the tub that we had) but hey, we did have a huge walk in closet that we could've parked a Mini Cooper in! The decor at this place (the room and the entire hotel) is over the top and pretty horrible. The curtains and bedding felt old, musty and in need of an update. We were told that our unit had an "ocean view" - this was a joke as all we could see was the top of Morro Bay's rock and the power plant or whatever those towers are to the right of it.
The roof top deck was pretty much a joke. You go to the fourth floor where there's an area gated off with old, rusted chairs and tables. The jacuzzi was closed as well. The view was also so so from up here. So much for that idea!
This hotel would have been fine if it were priced at least $100 less or you actually got what they advertised (spacious tubs, nice rooftop deck, ocean views, etc.). If we ever stay in Morro Bay again we'll definitely be staying at a different hotel!!!
We were very sick the weekend of our visit to Morro Bay. I called the hotel to find out if they can give us a rain check (not a cancellation with refund, but they can charge us now and we can come back some other time using the credit), but that was not granted.
My nose was running like Yosemite fall in early spring, with fever and cough, and my fiance's forehead was beading with sweat from his share of fever, we both put our sicky butts in our car and drove down to Morro Bay.
Ascot Suite is one of the better hotel in Morro Bay, but yet, compared to other tourist destination it was pretty cheap. Gas fireplace, jet tub and spacious room for the price we paid, it is a good deal. I was not too keen on the bathroom window looking into the bed/living but sure was a different experience.
Unfortunately, we could not maximize our enjoyment of staying here as we were really sick. I know business is business, but they'd have been a little flexible on their cancellation policy as Ascot is not a chain hotel. Oh well, at last we did stay in bed the whole day to really look at the room :)

For just a weekend stay, I guess this place would be okay.
I trusted my follow yelp reviewers that said this place was a great romantic place to stay and chose it as one of our stops for our honeymoon. We got one of the jr. suites with jacuzzi tubs.
Big mistake, we ended up leaving after the second of what was supposed to be 5 nights.
First, it is noisy. You can hear everything that goes on, and there were several families with VERY noisy kids. Screaming, tantrum kids does not equal romantic.
Then, there is the smell. Our room was on the second floor, as soon as we exited the elevator, we were accosted with the smell of sewage or dirty diaper. Even with all the windows open in the halls, this smell never went away.
The rooms themselves would have been okay, except that the wall AC units would not keep the room a consistent temperature. The only time we were able to get the room cool was after the sun went down and we opened the balcony door to let in the chilly night air. During the days, the room was constantly hot, humid and sticky. The AC unit did nothing.
I am not sure when the folks went that got rooms for under $100, but the cheapest rooms were over $150 a night and the one we had was $220 during the week.
Calling the rooftop a garden is a joke. There was a couple of pots with dead plants in them. The chairs are rusty and all the cushions are moldy. There is a hot tub on the roof, but it evidently, is just there to tease you. It doesn't run.
I have been in nicer motels, really, I have.
I was very pleased with what I had received here at the ascot suites! The rooms were so clean, comfortable, spacious, and luxurious.
My husband and I had to get away from long beach for the weekend, so we decided to go to our home away from home, Morro Bay.
Ascot Suites have covered parking, fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs with a window so you can be a peeping tom/tammy, with very large beds.
Every evening they have a wine tasting, and its not just like the 1 oz. tasting, they give you an entire glass, and I think the limit is 4 per guest.
They have, what they call, an extended continental breakfast which includes, make-your-own waffles, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, muffins, an assortment of danishes, juices, coffee, and bagels. I thought it was a great assortment of foods to keep you satisfied!
Each morning after breakfast, I would take my coffee and book up to the fourth floor, which is the garden/seating area, where you can see everything! It was pretty amazing!
Next time we decide to come through Morro Bay, I'll be making a reservation here again!

A very pleasant place to stay in Morro Bay, based on comfort and location. I went mid-week and as such enjoyed a nice price reduction from their weekend or peak season rates. For under $100 this is a fantastic choice, comfy beds, romantic fireplaces, a friendly/helpful staff and a jetted bathtub give this hotel a leg up on the many competitors in the area. Also, the extended continental breakfast was better then most hotel fare. The only awkward aspect was the window in between the bedroom area and bathroom which can only be opened from the bedroom(so should your partner decide to peep you can't avoid it). One other nice aspect is that your outside window actually opens more then three inches so you can enjoy the cool clean air blowing in from the ocean.
I had a very pleasant three day stay here. For a large hotel, we heard absolutely NO noise from our room. We had a nice little balcony with a view of the rock, a jacuzzi tub, and a comfy bed. Our fridge didn't work, however, and we had no fireplace even though I am pretty sure we paid for one. If we had made a big fuss over these two things (which we didn't) I am pretty confident that they may have done something about it. We just didn't feel like dealing with it. We were happy with our room and its view.
The wine hour is a nice little treat. (5:30-6:30) You sit at these cute little tables with games on them and chat with other couples, or just take your game too seriously, in our case. Our first night we tried all the wines (by try I mean drink a full glass of each wine) and were wasted by dinner. We limited our pre-dinner drinking after that. You also have the option of taking the wine to the roof and enjoying the sun and the view from there. None of the wines are local, however, because they have unsuccessfully tried over the years to contract central coast wineries. They also didn't change up the wines night after night which I was hoping for. Still, can't complain too much.
The hotel is close to everything, has plenty of parking, and is a pleasant, friendly place to stay. However, there are many hotels and motels around Morro Bay that looked cute as well. I think next time I might check one of those out.

This is a fantastic hotel. It's decorated in the English style and it's very well kept up. It also has adequate parking.
The rooms themselves are very clean. I was very delighted to find that the English cottage theme didn't stop in the lobby and indeed continued into the rooms. The rooms are spacious and provide a ton of space. Ours had both a fireplace and a jacuzzi, which was quite comforting given the coastal winter climate.

I have stayed here 3 times over the last 10 years and have loved it every time. This is such a romantic place. I love the whirpool baths with a window into the room. Be careful not to put too much bath soap into the tub or there will be bubbles everywhere. Some of the rooms have gas fireplaces that are nice. The best part is the turn down service. The staff turns down the sheets, puts chocolates on your pillows, and turns on some mood music. Can't wait until I come here next.
Update 3/21/08: The turn down service is no more so they lose a star. :( The place is still nice but the comforters are aging and the place could use a touch up.

What a beautiful property in a lovely small town on the central CA coast! We had a very large junior suite with two queen beds, complete with canopies that just added to the charming atmosphere of the room. The gas fireplace was a nice touch when the evening got cool and it was nice to have a view of Morro Rock and the beautiful sunsets. The bathroom was large with a deep soaking tub and there was ample storage space for clothes, etc - too bad we were only there for the weekend.
The complimentary wine hour was nice - we took our glasses up to the 4th floor roof deck to watch the sunsets which were spectacular. We also enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts which included boiled eggs, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice and GOOD coffee.
The hotel was within walking distance of excellent restaurants and the Embarcadero with shopping, surf shops, etc - and Morro Bay, equidistant between Los Angeles and San Francisco is handy for
visiting the area's wineries. The Ascot Suites, with its friendly, accomodating staff is the perfect place to stay!

Great hotel for a romantic weekend. My suite included a canopy bed with a mattress tall enough that they provided a foot stool to climb on top. The bathroom included a jacuzzi tub with a window into the bedroom, providing a view of the TV while soaking. Also, a balcony with views of Morro Rock, the marina, and Embarcadero. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Complimentary wine and cheese hour was the proverbial icing on the cake, particularly the generous refills.

Overall a nice experience. Missed the complimentary wine but one of the staff poured me a glass before they put the bottles away. No problems with checking in and room was clean. Was about 150 for the night through expedia, not counting taxes. King sized bed with jetted tub, fireplace in room. In room fridge for storing items but it wasn't working. Only about 2-3 blocks from the Embarcadero where there are some restaurants and shops. Didn't have a room with a balcony which would have been nice. Continental breakfast was fairly standard but good, and yes, the coffee was great. There are several other hotels in the area which seem to have the same theme, hot tub and fireplace so I'd be interested in staying somewhere else but not much else to complain about. Covered parking spots.
