I live in this area for over 20 years. Grew up on Asakusa's Cali roll entree/dinner. Their Cali rolls were so massive and good, everyone agreed.
After the area became filled with Chinese $2.50 roll sushi spots, I guess they couldn't compete and stopped caring about quality. It became one of those "eat with caution" spots, so I'm not 17 yrs old anymore and cant put that in my body lol.
Nothing else was good there anyway though.
Thanks to yelp I found Ichi Sushi down the block. Funny name but I would even eat sashimi from there. -

Been coming here since I was a kid, but I don't know if I ever will again.
The best part about this place is their Lunch Special. Chicken Teriyaki Lunch Bento box is only $5, and it comes with soup, salad, rice, and 4 pieces of california roll.
I usually order Spicy Chicken. Tastes better.
But the last time I went, they gave me a glass of water. On that glass was...
A LIPSTICK PRINT. ASDFGHJKL;'
That + their B rating? Oh god. Never again. -

Out of all the sushi restaurants in Bensonhurst, this is definitely one of them...
The sushi is fresh, delicious, and decently priced, but the draw here are the funny signs on the wall. Great conversation starter. Because incorrect grammar and substituting R's for L's is hilarious.
I've lately been into cold/apple or lychee sakés. This place unfortunately only has a plain flavored one to choose from.
The special rolls (the sign reads Specil with a heart above the i. Knee slapper) are delicious. I think the Fried Lobster is my favorite.
Overall, if you are looking for fresh sushi around Bensonhurst and you are in the vicinity, definitely stop by. -

A very big MEH from me. Rolls are reasonably priced, but did not taste fresh or good. I won't be coming back. Only giving it two stars because my parents like ordering the bento boxes and noodles.

I used to eat here a lot when I was a kid. This was one of my favorite places, and I was definitely a regular. I am not sure whether my tastes have expanded and matured or whether the quality at Asakusa has gone down, but at this point, it really doesn't live up to my memories or other sushi restaurants in the area. The specials and the rolls are reasonably priced, and often tasty, but my biggest complaint with Asakusa is that the fish does not seem to be particularly fresh. You can tell how good a sushi restaurant is by their sashimi, and the last few times at Asakusa, I've received nearly frozen cuts of tuna and salmon sashimi. This is not an exaggeration -- there were actually ice crystals on my fish. That's a deal-breaker for me, and I won't be coming back to Asakusa, despite the nostalgia factor.

Great lunch special for 5 bucks. Teriyaki chicken was unexpectedly great. The sauce was perfect and chicken was tender. Bento box comes with salad and the works.
I was really surprised by the quality because:
1. it's a sushi place in Brooklyn
2. it's run by Chinese people
I'll definitely come back. If they can stop staring at me. -

Whoever don't know shit about Japanese food will give this dump a high-rating. This place is owned and managed by Chinese. They hold 60% off for a reason, you idiots.

This has been my favorite Japanese restaurant for about 4 years. I would have given it the full 5 stars, but the service and quality has seemed to decline lately, as has the food in my humble opinion. The terriyaki is wonderful and well cooked, and the fish used has always been to my knowledge, fresh and delicious. Their prices are wonderful too! 1 dollar for sushi pieces, and 2.50 for any regular roll, 3 for 7.00. Hard to find such a great deal for good food! Their tea is also very lovely, unlike many of the weak teas in other restaurants. =)
