Good sushi.  I've also enjoyed their lunchbox meals.  Someone else mentioned their miso soup. It is very flavorful and delicious.

I'd never had deep-fried sushi before. It isn't something I would order every time, but the roll I got was good enough that I would certainly get it again when I am in the mood.  Almost like having a bite of crab rangoon with a bite of maki roll.

Suprising atomosphere.  Had not expected some place this soothing in a strip mall!  Dim lighting and the way the tables are arranged with dividers through the rooms give a feeling of privacy, even though the next table is actually pretty close to you.

Not exactly a kid place, but we have taken our 1 year old son (who is in a quiet, stare at everything phase that is perfect for going out - gotta take advantage of that while it lasts!).   He enjoyed some tamago, avacado maki w/ seaweed removed, and chicken fried rice.

I've enjoyed this place so much that I have not even tried the other sushi places in Fort Wayne.

If you are in the Ft Wayne area and hungry for sushi, Asakusa is the best I have found here. I'm pretty picky about my sushi as my room mates mother is Japanese and I've experienced some very excellent fare. The miso soup here is the most flavorful I've had anywhere (other than my Baba Tokiko's kitchen) and I would go here just for that on a cold day. The sushi menu is extensive although most of their maki rolls have imitation crab meat in them and a majority of them are cooked or tempura (fried). The sashimi is fresh and tasty.

The staff is always friendly and gives you a choice of seating if possible. It's a great place to go with a group of friends, by yourself for lunch ($8 lunch specials include miso, house salad, maki, and sashimi), or for business lunches.

I haven't tried any other Sushi in Fort Wayne, and admittedly, my expectations were not high. I thought Askausa was delightful and the on the whole the food was delicious.

My husband and I shared a couple of rolls (both were excellent), tempura (also very good), and the chicken katsu. When he tasted the chicken, my husband blurted out, "This chicken taste's like Burger King!" And, you know what? It did taste like Burger King. It wasn't bad, just not what we were expecting.

Overall, the decor is lovely, the service was great, and the sushi is good. I do agree with others about getting there early. We went on a Sunday night and there was a short wait. I imagine it's much worse on Friday and Saturday. Also, I do think it's a bit pricey, but decent sushi in Indiana always is.

Asakusa has been in Fort Wayne for many years and has always been a crowd favorite.  We eat here once a month.  The luncheon bento boxes are a great value. The fish is consistently fresh and many varieties are available.  We love the tempura.  It is always light, crispy, and plentiful, with an authentic sauce with daikon radish grated in.  The chicken and beef teriyaki have a flavorful sauce and are always tender.  The udon broth is good but not great, but our kids love the noodles.  We also like the grilled calamari appetizer and the agedashi tofu appetizer, and the raw tuna salad.  The waitstaff is courteous and attentive.  We've been coming here for about 11 years---every since our kids were toddlers.  They've had their share of messes on the table and on the floor, but the restaurant is always forgiving and we always tip well in return.  The owners are very cordial even when it's crazy busy.  It's a homey, bustling atmosphere, suitable for families and dates alike.

As good as sushi gets in the Midwest and beyond.  Better than some I've tried in Indianapolis even.  Their rolls are great and so are their bento boxes and lunch plates.  I don't care very much for the tempura but that is just a taste thing as I have not liked it at other places either. Both their soup and salad are a great accompaniment to their meals.

My fiancee and I eat here twice a month or so.  If you're craving sushi/maki in a clean and relaxing atmosphere with nice visuals at the sushi bar; this is your place.  Be sure to arrive early, like 5 pm or so on a Friday or Saturday because people have tuned-in to this place and they get BUSY!!  Always a good sign that a restaurant is doing things the right way.  They always offer interesting featured rolls on weekends.
    Try the grilled/marinated squid appetizer...yum!!

Ate at Asakusa for lunch. A delight. Service was fast and the hostess friendly in recommending sushi rolls to match our tastes. The restaurant is small, but cozy and warm. You can sit at the bar and speak with the chefs that prepare your sushi rolls.  We enjoyed the Red Dragon roll!
Order a roll for lunch over $10 and salad and soup are included.

I've traveled all over the place and tried sushi almost everywhere I go and Asakusa ranks up there with the best.  Try the fire dragon roll. It's quite good.  Who would have thought that you could get such good sushi in Ft. Wayne?

I've eaten here a few times, and while everything was fine, it was just not on par with other sushi places i have eaten at (east coast, west coast, chicago), but for fort wayne indiana, it was A-OK!  (I'll be back)  Another positive, the wait-staff is very friendly, as you would expect in the midwest!

As a long-time resident of Los Angeles who frequents sushi joints, I have to say that Asakusa is a real treat.  For those of you from NYC or LA that make the regular family visits to FW (like me!), you'll find that Asakusa is probably not the best sashimi or roll you've ever had.  But it is pretty good, and well above average for alternate options in Fort Wayne.

The service is very friendly (although some of the waitstaff aren't always up to speed on the menu) and the restaurant is clean, cozy and comfortable.

I enjoyed several rolls and my parents, who are non-sushi types, really enjoyed the teriyaki.

I'm really excited that my hometown supports a great place like this and I look forward to eating there for my sushi fix every time I visit.

I've waited too long to review the best sushi in Fort Wayne considering I choose to dine here several times a month.

The supply of fish at this location is surprisingly fresh considering our land-locked position in the Midwest.  Flavors in most of the sushi, appetizers and main dishes are nicely balanced and few dishes are unbalanced.  The rice is good, veggies are crisp, ingredients and sauces are delicious.

They also offer the infamous deep-fried sushi rolls that many people (especially those 'scared' of sushi..psshaw) tend to warm up to.  But be adventurous past the teriyaki chicken!  There are minor weaknesses in some dishes, but it's still good food.  Be careful picking up some of your rolls.  The chefs are often in such a hurry to meet the demand that your maki may be rolled weakly and prone to fall apart.

If attending during peak dining hours (noon on weekdays, and most evenings around the 6-7pm rush) you are likely to wait a long time for seating, serving, and the bill and may receive lopsided service.  That's the gamble with going during peak dining hours anywhere.  I prefer to call-ahead and do take-out for lunches in order to avoid crowds and waits.  Visiting for dinner early or late will allow you more time to relax and get more focus from the staff.  They do their best with what they've got and always seem courteous.

Prices are affordable if you keep an eye on yourself, but if you have a tight wallet I would suggest only the occasional splurge.

It's not the only sushi source in town, but I still deem it the best if only based on the quality of their rice.  Nonetheless, I look forward to more proper sushi competition in the Fort Wayne area to push Asakusa to become even better than it already is.

(and if anyone could give me more info on the large illustration in the foyer, please let me know!  it's enchanting.)

Stopped here from out of town while in Ft. Wayne on business.  We almost drove right by!  It's in a strip mall, but when you walk in the restaurant it's surprisingly nice and pretty inside!

The miso soup and house salad were good.  The rolls were good, too, and really reasonably priced.  The california rolls were some of the better ones I've ever had.

We got two soups, salads, three rolls, and two glasses of plum wine for a little over $30.  Not bad.

Service was good--they were very attentive and friendly.  The only "complaint" is that the waitress brought my boyfriend a house salad when he asked for a seaweed salad.  Not a big deal, the regular salad was good--we didn't say anything and he just ate the one they brought.

It's terrible, don't come here!!!  Just kidding.  We've been coming here since it opened, and we're frustrated that it's so packed for dinners now!!!

Awesome food and sushi.  Not large city equivalent, but good for a good sushi fix.

Love the sukiyaki, especially with the raw egg on the side.  The seafood udon is great as well as the teriyaki snapper or salmon.

Other goodies are the standby terriyaki chicken for those in your company that may not like fish or sushi.

They also have a nice selection of appetizers to choose from.

And I did go back... and I've to give them 5 stars this time since that would make an average of 4.5 stars from me... :D ... they really deserve something more than 4...

not quite 5 stars, since they don't seem to have any happy hours... that would certainly earn them 5 stars !

Ok... so the best sushi in Fort Wayne only gets 3 stars.  It's a shame actually.  According to the locals - there is no other place to get sushi where it's even fit to eat.

So I almost feel badly that I can only give it 3 stars.

Good service... although when you order to go they sometimes make mistakes.

I will continue to visit for my sushi fix - until something better opens in Ft. Wayne!

If you are looking for good sushi and have some time to wait this is the place to go. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.  (I highly suggest the avocado rolls!) The place is always packed though, so definitely plan on standing around for awhile.

Everyone loves this place and it gets really crowded bc its small so go a bit early.  I use to order the teriyaki steak and salmon. Yum!  They have good fried rice even though its japanese, they have a certain asian blend. Their rolls are really good too and served on a boat if you order big.

I was still kind of on the fence about sushi when I met my now husband and he made the mistake of introducing me to Asakusa.  It is my FAVORITE place to eat in Fort Wayne now - and, I'm fairly certain, is hands down the best sushi in town.

The place is always packed, the servers are always way too busy, but the sushi is always perfect!  It is the most satisfying meal to me out of all the choices we have.  In fact, their sushi is the only thing I prefer outside of cooking myself.  It is well worth the money (it can be quite expensive).

I only wish they had a larger location.  The restaurant is cozy and dark.  Eating at the bar is fun.  Oh - and the chicken katsu is great too!

Big fan of this place, the sushi always seems fresh. Expectations are low in Indiana, but I think it compares well to places I have eaten on both coasts. Busy busy busy on weekend nights, but worth the wait. They could use a bigger lobby and more parking. Can't really speak to the non-sushi dishes personally.

This and Sakusa are the only places I've heard you can get sushi in Ft. Wayne. I've gotten takeout and have eaten here several times. I am not a big fan of rolls in general, so my husband and I tend to only order nigiri and sashimi, which always taste fresh and cut in nice, thick pieces. I had the unagi-don recently, and it was drenched in sauce; too much for me, so I'll just stick to fish in the future. Not the best sushi place ever, but not bad for the Ft. Wayne area if you want a healthy dinner.

Drove around for 45 minutes looking for this place because yelp/googlemaps places it in a neighborhood nowhere near it's actual location and ended up leaving when I looked at the menu.  I'm one hungry disappointed vegetarian sushi fanatic.

I eat sushi 4 or 5 times a week.  I have for a few years.  I make my own and I go out to various restaurants when traveling.  Was in Ft. Wayne so I decided to try this place.  It was o.k., nothing special.  It is more expensive than most good sushi places.   I was there by myself and my bill came to $45 with tip.  All I got were a couple of sushi rolls and a soft drink.

Food is great.  I take clients to Asakusa's occasionally and eat there just because when I get the chance.   Would be 5 stars if not for the wait at lunch time, the congested parking, and slightly expensive nature of the dishes.  Of course all three of those things also explain why it is busy and a great place to eat.  I highly recommend the teriyaki chicken & beef lunch box!
