    BLACK COD!!!
That's all you need to know about this place.

When I was at the Fish Market located in Pike's Place Market in Seattle, I asked about Black Cod and they said it's a trash fish.  It was cheap back then (20 years ago).   But things have changed, this is no longer considered a "trash" fish.

The preparation of the fish:   Half the fish is totally seared in a soy sauce, sugar marinate until blacken on the skin side.  The meat is so sweet, it's like no other fish that I've had.  It's almost like eating candy.  You have to order this early because they run out quickly.

The staff here is always friendly and seems to always appreciate your business.  I enjoy coming to this very small establishment.  This place is mostly a take out and there are very few tables to actually eat at.
For me, it's always a treat to come here.

Horrible place! Don't go! No service no good food no straws! It's quiet as heck very awkward small cramped. Chairs were unstable. People not friendly. Bad. Bad. Bad. OVERPRICED. Somehow everything was salty. Smelt eggs in EVERYTHING. Albacore wasn't fresh: too fishy tasting. Never go here!

Let me start by saying I made the stupid mistake of dining in at a place with the word "delivery" in its name.  I suppose that should reasonably explain why the service was bad.

The poor guy who runs the cash register and answers the phone and serves all 3 dine-in tables is ALSO someone who works in the kitchen!  You can see all this because they have a glass view into their kitchen, which by the way does look clean.  I hope he washes his hands regularly ...

    DINING experience:
Don't do it.  Why did I even do it to begin with?!?!

-- the water they served tasted like ...NOT water!  Had fish been soaking in it? It was one of those take-a-sip-and-spray-it-out moments you see on TV all the time.   I asked the waiter/ register-checker/ phone guy / kitchen aid where the water was coming from, and he pointed to a tiny water filter that looked like it could contain 2 cups of water.  I told him the water was very stale, and he looked at me, blinked, and scurried away.

    FOOD:
I ordered chef special B and my friend ordered chef special A.

BOTH of us agreed that the chicken was dry dry dry!  And burnt.  Whatever sauce they used on it was poured into a cup, microwaved, and poured onto the geriatric chicken; this I saw through their glass kitchen wall.

The sushi on the menu was definitely visually appealing, and I wish I tried that instead.  Maybe it could have changed my mind about not going there again.

I read another review on yelp, that mentioned a tempura roll- that isn't on their menu.
I tried that yesterday with take out and i have to say i am a convert. I wish they would put the veggie tempura roll on their menu and online- so that other vegetarians can give this place the 4 stars it deserves.
The roll had yam tempura, cauliflower (i know, but it was amazing- trust me), white onions, rice wrapped in seaweed leaf. (you can substitute for soy wrap if u prefer.

    yey for asakuma.

Food was decent. Extremely slow delivery.  Took over an hour while they're 0.3 miles away. The driver got lost even with the correct cross street info.  And the restaurant forgot one of our entrees. Just straight up lousy.

    Meh.

I mean it's fine.  I came back here after a hiatus from the Westside, (meaning that anytime I am over in the Westside I hit up Hide Sushi) and remembered that I used to like this place when I was in college.  My boss would order it for us and I thought I was in heaven.

My tastes have obviously changed a bit since then.  It's decent sized cuts but there's no expertise in the cuts and like others have said kinda pricey in this day and age for just takeout sushi.

This is on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Barrington. Call it in and pick it up. They'll deliver orders over $25. This is high quality sushi. I heart the eel roll. Usually I eat unagi nigri style, but this eel roll (I add avocado) is fat and sublime. The asakuma restaurant's prized/famed glazed black cod is served here too.

Btw, I learned on Iron Chef  that 'black cod' isn't actually a cod at all, that's just the 'american name' for sablefish. Which begs the question, "sablefish" is obviously an americanized version of however its said in Japanese, so why do we need another 'american name'?

Anyway, I digress as usual. This is sushi that will make people in your office/home/car happy. It's not the cheapest sushi in town but they know how to pack it to go efficiently and effectively and separate the orders of each individual eater, etc.

But, the miso soup ain't that good here, fyi.

Ok, ok, I know sushi delivery, ugh.  After much agony last night my BF and I decided we were too lazy to go out but too lazy to stay in and cook.  That means, take out.  But oh what to get, it always sounds like a good idea, but you order, you wait and wait and wait and it comes and its usually just sub par.  Not to mention ordering take out sushi, i typically feel is a big no-no.  But he wanted it, and it was his birthday.
I ordered straight off the website which was super easy, although it was hard to see what you were ordering since it was all in a long column.

    This is what we got:
sushi albacore - amazingly fresh & delicious
sushi yellowtail - i didnt taste it but it looked great
sushi tuna - really great as well
sushi scallops - i was very impressed, and it didnt come with that mayo on it that usually masks the taste.
sushi wasabi tobiko - my BF hated it but i used it to put on my other rolls so the taste wasnt as strong
tuna roll - standard but very well done
spicy yellow tail roll - very spicy, lots of fish
    edamame - fresh and crunchy

We even said it was better than some of the fancier sushi places we've been!
Another plus, it said it would take 30-50 minutes for delivery so we walked over to the market to get some drinks after we ordered.  15 minutes into our trip, the delivery guy called to say he was at the door!
Also good (geez, I keep going) was the presentation...usually take out seems just slopped in the containers.  This was very nicely wrapped in a paper cloth with an ice pack inside to keep everything perfect temperature.
I can't wait to order from them again!

I've been to Asakuma restaurant on Wilshire countless times but this was my first experience with Asakuma Sushi Delivery.

Call me cheap, but I expected delivery sushi to be inexpensive.  This was not.  We ordered a 3-person Suisen combination and an extra 1/2 order of a spicy tuna roll.  With tax and tip, it came out to $75. The food was ok, but I think Asakuma restaurant has better sushi.

I was debating whether Asakuma Sushi Delivery deserves 3 or 4 stars but given that "Delivery" is the key word here, I think it merits 4.  Wow, talk about fast!  They made and delivered my sushi only half an hour after I ordered.

Unless I have to work late again, I think I'll walk into the restaurant for a nice sushi meal next time.

Sushi delivery... pretty good, but nothing special as far as real sushi goes. Appeared to use real crab (!), which was surprising. Uni was surprisingly decent, ebi was passable, sake) salmon was pretty meh. Rest was okay. Unlike most other sushi delivery places that seem to be a little more cheap, Asakuma's pricing is a little higher.

Forgot to include wasabi with my order, rather annoying. Considering the price, again, not too bad, but didn't stand out as much as I was hoping vs. other sushi places of this type.

First, the food is incredibly good.  I am always pleased with the amount of food and the quality of the food.  There always seems to be more than I can eat even though it's absolutely delicious.  And the lovely girl working the counter is always smiling and friendly.  Love this place and would highly recommend it.

i have ordered from this place for over 10 years and i think this place is going down hill.

the fish is good but not as great as it used to be.

i don't even mind the high prices.

but here is the capper: the other day, saturday night, i had the worst edamame ever!

how can you mess up edamame?!

This is the only place I go to order sushi. . .I probably order from there 3-4 times a month and it is consistently always great!

I love the uni, ikura, and the unagi is to die for! I usually have the chirashi sushi. One time out of the several years I have been ordering from them, they ran out of uni but that was it!

The fish is always fresh, the delivery people are always on time, and the presentation is lovely! I wouldn't go anywhere else for sushi delivery. . .I LOVE THIS PLACE!

When I think of sushi, I do not think of delivery...but you have both at Asakuma.  It's within walking distance of my apt so I just wandered over there and found it.  I was quite surprised at how pricey it actually is...I got 2 tiny basic rolls and a seaweed salad which was like $20...expensive when you're used to half price at Yamato in Westwood.  The workers were nice enough, but the rolls were mediocre at best.  I don't think I'll be going back...there are a ton of other great sushi places on Santa Monica that deserve my moolah.

Wow, one hour and a half for delivery! The delivery driver barely spoke english, called me 8 times, still couldn't get the directions correct, and finally some stranger on the street got on the phone and got my address and sent him where I was.  The manager didn't care at all when I called to complain.  They obviously do not care about their business.  No thanks!

We had a luncheon for 35 people and the sushi was so well prepared and so beautifully presented on black lacquer platters.  Everyone enjoyed the variety of sushi and the menu was very generous.  Aki Watanabe handled our order and delivered it on time and the sushi came with all the ice, shoyu, chopsticks to make everything so easy to serve.

Asakuma sushi delivered is better than at some sushi restaurants locations. The fish is always fresh and Toro, when they have it, is the best I've had, right up there with Hamasaku.

The deliver presentation is always well organized and stocked with more than you need accompaniments. Delivery time for me is always under 40 minutes.

Recommend everything off the sushi menu and for rolls (more a sushi fan than a roll fan), I have tried every one of there Special rolls and each have been fantastic, not over ricing the roll for example or skimping on the fish.

Treat yourself to fine dining in the comfort of your own home.

We ordered from this place twice and have no intention of ever ordering from them again. They probably only really deserve one star, but I gave them an extra one because they do deliver sushi in a timely manner, which is a rarity. However, the sushi they deliver is mediocre at best and the second time we ordered from them we had upset stomachs for the rest of the night. It's not cheap either. It was over $60 for just two of us to eat. The moral of the story is, if you want sushi, just go out to the sushi bar and get it. Don't mess with delivery, it's just not worth it.

Surprisingly good sushi! I was in Venice on a business trip recently and my coworker took the car for dinner plans one night, so I was stranded at my hotel and decided to order what was according to yelp reviews, pretty good delivered sushi. Unfortunately, you need to order $25+ to qualify for delivery so I had to order a lot of food! I only wanted the spicy tuna don with brown rice, which is about $12, but I ordered $15 more of nigiri (hamachi, albacore, and scallop). Fyi, you can sub white rice for brown rice $0.50-$1 more on the bowls or nigiri, etc.

The spicy tuna don was pretty good and by itself, is A LOT of food. I realized I was in trouble when I grabbed the bowl of spicy tuna don and it weighed like 2 pounds! The nigiri was really good as well. The albacore was ok, scallop was really good, and hamachi was AMAZING. Since my coworker stranded me, I forced myself to eat almost all of the $30 worth of sushi! Mmmm. The delivery guy was also very nice, although it took over an hour to get my food. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place if you're feeling lazy/stranded.

Just finished dinner that was delivered. Got beef teriyaky which was very good. No shriveled beef pieces here it could definitey be called steak teriyaki. I got a California roll and I'm disappointed that it was imitation crab. Delivery was quick, nothing was messed up and it was affordable. I would recommended if u really want Japanese and don't want 2 leave home.

This place has the freshest fish with no frills that I've seen in Los Angeles, without of course going to a really upscale place.  The only difference between this place and a 5-star place is the fact it's only pick up and delivery and that they don't have upscale presentation.  I'd give the freshness of the fish (I had the tuna, salmon, scallop) a 6/5 if I could.  Totally worth it especially if you want some good food to stay in.
