Excellent sushi, wonderful environment, normal sushi prices, and great service! I've been here MANY times and still have no bad experiences with it. :)

This is the third sushi place I've reviewed. It is real good and the prices are right. While it's not Keichii in Denton, it's much better than the now closed Oishi from my other reviews.
The atmosphere is nice and quiet, not too dark but certainly not bright. The prices are good ranging from the low end of $3.99 for a shitake roll to the higher end of $15.00 ish for their specialty rolls. I've only eaten sushi here and nothing off the menu other than some of the appetizers which were great too.
This is my go to place when I'm in the area. -

Would not go back based on my experience here. The sushi I had did not taste as fresh as I am used to. The thing I remember the most about my meal here was that is the fried cheesecake they served us was still frozen inside. Not the best parting memory.

One of the better sushi places in lewisville. Sushi was very fresh! The hibachi chef was also very entertaining!

The new happy hour is great, we like the $5.00 dollar Brut splits with some shrimp ceviche ($3.00) and Sakura (spicy Tuna shooters ($3.00)) .
Deals on Sake (hot or cold) and $2.00 domestic drafts for the days we don't feel hoity toity.

The food is okay, the price is okay. The waiter messed up twice on our order, then wouldn't take our coupon b/c they say Valentine's is a holiday. I stilled tipped the waiter good but I left my coupon, I will not be going back soon, at least not on a "holiday".

I went in with low expectations and still this place managed to disappoint. The only thing 'Japanese' about this place was the salad dressing and the maneki-neko (waving cat statue) at the door. The cook's strained, embarrassing act sounded like a Kung-Fu actor getting an enema. The steak was okay by Chipotle standards, but who spends $22+ for mediocre steak at Chipotle. They were more than happy to collect our bill and send us quickly on our way. We won't be back.

Great sushi! We especially love the spicy tuna and Hawaiian rolls. Always fresh - a definite plus for sushi! The hibachi has never disappointed, onion choo choo and all. The owners are also very gracious and will take excellent care of you.

This is my tried and true, 'go to' sushi restaurant since moving from Houston, home of the sushi restaurant on nearly every corner. I've cheated on this restaurant a couple of times around the DFW area since moving and every time I find myself saying, "Hmmm shouldn't have cheated on Asahi.. That's what I get!"
The first thing I would like to praise Asahi on is their service. I've been to the restaurant at several different times, when they first open, while it's slammed, and when it's about to close. Out of the dozens of times I've been there only once I have had less than stellar service. Their service for take-away is expedient, and they have never botched an order.
Their sushi rolls step a bit away from the ordinary. This restaurant is the first sushi restaurant that I have seen incorporate strawberries in a roll, which leads me to one of my favorite rolls on their menu the garden roll. It highlights shrimp tempura, avocado, assorted vegetables topped with strawberries and their three sauces. The second is a roll that's usually on their happy hour the fried onion roll, deep french fried onions with ponzo sauce. Their sashimi is always fresh as well. I also order a custom roll, which I call the stoplight roll: tobiko on the outside, soybean paper, tuna, mango, avocado and their sweet wasabi sauce.
I've eaten at their hibachi once, and it's pretty standard fare with the show and food.
This place is pretty popping during happy hour, and the hostesses there serve as appealing eye candy. It's also seems to be a very popular with birthday celebrations. They of course break out their tom tom drum to instill embarrassment for the unsuspecting birthday guy or gal.
All in all Asahi has never disappointed. If you sign up for their e-mail listing you get specials in the mail that are worthwhile at least twice a month. Thank you for being my stable sushi home. I heart you Asahi. -

Volcano with crawfish and Tiffany rolls for sure. Great service and the family definitely has a presence!

In short: Nice environment, fresh ingredients, reasonable prices (especially for lunch).
I had the Chirashi Ju (assorted sashimi over rice), which was awesome. Very generous portions of fish, and while I would normally ignore the rice, it was surprisingly delicious too.
I also tried a bit of the Unagi Don (sliced freshwater eel over rice), and was similarly impressed.
If you're up for something different, the Uni Shooter (raw sea urchin, quail egg, and some kind of sauce) is interesting (albeit expensive, as uni tends to be). -

Six of us took Mom there for dinner last night. Very nice family experience. Fun to watch them prepare the food on the grill and the chefs were very interactive. Meal was tasty and reasonably priced. Sushi was also very good. We will go back for sure.

My fried rice was ok, and my egg roll wad pretty good.
The soup they serve as an appetizer was really good.
The ambiance was very nice and the restaurant was very clean & tidy.
The service was ok.
I will probably come back when I'm in the area, but will definitely be on the lookout for Chinese Restaurants in the area. -

Great service and atmosphere! Sushi bar and hibachi in one. I already ordered, but was told to try the Lobster Roll next time. Guess that will require another visit!!!
Since they are located close to our home and office it is a great place to sneak in for a great meal! -

Best crab Rangoon ever! Don't leave without having it.
The sushi is fresh, the rolls are creative (I like the Mamasan) and if you're lucky and someone's having a birthday you get to see the lady play the asian birthday drum song, it's very catchy! -

With 2 Hibachi places in the Flo Mo area - Asahi and Mt Fuji. I would probably to with Asahi after recently visit Mt Fuji. Atmosphere is not as hip as Mt Fuji but this place always has cars in the lot. Even on a rainy night. We took the family for the Hibachi experience. I think our chef was Hispanic so did not seem like the real Japanese experience.

We have been going to this place for 5+ years...awesome..best sushi / sashimi in Dallas. Tonight they gave us a freebie (not on menu yet)...traditional lettuce wraps...traditional Chinese that is...better than pf chang....they are light, appetizer "right" with no gooey heavy sauce...the sauce is in the marinated chicken on a bed of rice noodles...very crispy rice noodles, not soggy like pf chang
A must try...best restaurant ever. -

Amazing sushi and service was top notch. I was a little pissed I had to drive to the burbs to meet some of my lame friends but was very surprised that we had a sushi place worth driving for. The sashimi was fresh and the Tiffany roll was incredible! I'll definitely be getting out of my bubble for this one again.

We heard about this place from a friend. They had set our expectations too high.
We had Teppenyaki. I was disappointed when they had their third chef cooking for us as the two other main chefs were busy cooking at the other teppenyaki tables. He cooked the fried rice too dark and he overcooked the shrimp.
Besides the teppenyaki, we also had Uni Sushi and Sweet Shrimp Sashimi. The Uni was very good and fresh. Didn't quite like the Sweet Shrimp as it tasted a bit bitter. -

Been here multiple times and haven't had bad experience yet. The Tuna Tower is the favorite menu item for sure and the best one by far of any other sushi places in the area.
Friendly staff, although they often seem new each time, and attentive. If you're looking for sushi in the FM area, this should be your 1st stop. -

Though a little smokey at times due to the Hibachi roaring away, Asahi is just what the palette ordered! Fresh fish, rice and hot green tea. The atmosphere is just right for this upper median Japanese cuisine.

I've been going to Asahi for about a year now, and finally decided to turn in a review to Yelp. I have never had bad service at Asahi, and the food is always fresh. The one thing I would say steer clear of is the newly created chef specials for sushi because they are very hit or miss. Sakura (or what I call Japanese nachos) are good - basically a Scoop tortilla chip with some spicy tuna, crab mix and black caviar on top with sweet sauce drizzled on it. I love their salad because it has a blueberry in it for a little extra sweet flavor, and the sauce isn't that pasty ginger sauce that other sushi places have pre-mixed. The house soup is made of fish stock and some crab, egg, and mushroom thrown in, it's my favorite soup. As I said, everything's super fresh, you don't have to worry about if the salmon sashimi will be fishy, because it won't be.
The hibachi is good too, but I don't usually eat hibachi there, just sushi, so I don't have any details for hibachi. -

Great Place to mix things up in Flower Mound! The restaurant is giant breath of fresh air in an area saturated with the same chains on most corners. The food is fresh, the atmosphere festive and the service friendly. The sashimi was excellent ... if raw fish is for you, asahi is place for you to be!

Loved sitting at the grill and getting entertained by our chef. He was really cool and funny. Fried rice and veggies that he cooked in front of us were top rate. Shrimp didn't have much flavor and I think might have been overcooked. Will definitely return.

Went for lunch in January with my teen daughter. She is NOT normally a fan of any Asian food. Asahi was offering a lunch special for 2 people only $25. This included soup, salad, TWO meats of your choice, rice and veggies. It was a LOT of food. Everything tasted great and was seasoned right. The fried rice was the best I've ever had. I went with seafood...salmon and shrimp. It was very fresh and tasty. Picky teen daughter had steak and chicken. I watched her gobble down her food and she raved over the fried rice. We were both impressed and greatly enjoyed this lunch. Great food, atmosphere and value. Service was good, too. Go! You will like it!

where do i start? i love hibachis and japanse is one of my fave foods. the only good thing i can say about this place is that their lunch prices are reasonable....like, very reasonable. however, the food was disgusting. the fried rice tasted like vomit. the salad had an unrecognizable dressing atop, the crab rangoon (which i was surprised to see at a japanese spot) were BLAH and forgettable. the california rolls were just okay and the spring roll was decent. additionally, the service is slow. i won't be going back. if you want good hibachi or Japanese, try Jinbeh

Sat at the sushi bar cause we were looking for a quiet evening out. The hibachi side sounded like a lot of fun though. The lobster roll comes with an incredible amount of lobster tail on top and the fish is about as fresh as it gets. Definitely one of the top sushi bars in the DFW area.
Will be going back for hibachi next time to try it out. -

Went last night for a birthday party and they did a great job. It was our first time there, however we had been to several teppenyaki style restaurants before. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The waiter was very attentive and had our orders taken and processed quickly. The chef came out quickly after the appettizers and put on quite a show. I have seen a little better overall, but he did get my 6 year olds involved.

Denton, TX
I walked in around 1 pm and the place was packed (first good sign), I sat at the sushi bar and ordered Unagi and the daily special Tuna Roll (on Tuesdays) it included a salad and soup for $7.95 I asked for the tuna to be spicy tuna instead of regular and they said no problem. The Miso was good and didn't scald my mouth, the sake was the same not overly hot so I could enjoy it right away. The salad was mixed greens with a ginger dressing that was delicious. The tuna roll came out with little rice and tons of tuna which I love, also in a nice bite size, however it was not spicy at all. I am not sure if they forgot to make it spicy or that was their definition of "spicy" tuna. It was still very fresh so I dipped it in wasabi and kept eating. When my tuna roll came out I was shocked to see an extra piece of salmon, tuna, and shrimp on the plate, all also included in the $7.95 price that I was unaware of. The Unagi was not the best I have ever had but still fresh and appealing to look at. It was a lot of food for $7.95 because it was soup, salad, 8 pieces of tuna roll and 3 pieces of sushi extra. The music was Sade' and the atmosphere was nice and clean inside. It took a waiter a long time to acknowledge me as several walked by and he was not very attentive but they were very busy. I am easy to please once I have my drink in front of me and food ordered usually because I know what it's like to be busy waiting tables. I am definitely coming back for the Ahi Towers but the waiter said it's better to share with someone because it is so much food.
