San Diego, CA
Wife and I ordered a Egg, Bacon, Cheese, and Potato burrito. We received a brown box of chips and the paper wrapped burrito. Got some of the salsas from the salsa bar. The hottest was the best.
The burrito was kind of wetter than what we were used to. Our preference is a nice dry breakfast burrito so we can add our salsa bath to it. A little runny but good in flavor. We will come back and try their burgers and other fare. -

La Habra, CA
Went with a group of people. I had heard from a friend that it was legit. I guess we just weren't that impressed. The burgers were just good, not great. Compared to In & Out or Five Guys, it didn't meet the high expectations I had for it. The onion rings were the best part of the meal. Maybe i need to go back and try the breakfast burritos....
And I did pay for it with a credit card so it's not a cash only joint. -

I Love A's Burgers
This place deserves 5 star for its zucchini fries and ranch alone! the portions are huge, one order of zucchini is easily enough for two people. Definitely go here for a burger or breakfast burrito but keep coming back for those delicious zucchini fries....
Service is awesome here, not only are they friendly but lightning fast. This is one of my favorite burger spots in south OC and its definitely worth stopping in for a try. -

Had myself some A's after stopping at the mall the other day and realized i'd never written a review for them (even though I've been eating there since 2003!) It used to be my regular haunt once upon a time when I was a student at Saddleback and they are still just as good! I've had their burgers and they are yummy! Although, with an In N' Out next door to them, I'd have to say i'd always choose a double-double if i'm really craving a cheeseburger....but that's no skin off A's Burgers back, cuz truth-be-told, i've always preferred them for their breakfast burritos anyway!!
I don't know what it is....I love breakfast burritos of all kinds, but their's is one of the best, hands down! I ate so many of these while I was pregnant that all of the employees knew me by name (embarrassing)...they also have a location in Dana Point, off of PCH. That one is great too and I loved it when I used to live down there cuz THAT one is a drive-thru too! The churizo and egg is my favorite....but i've experimented with all and i have yet to be disappointed. -

Ugh! I wanted to believe the hype of all these Yelp reviews!! My boyfriend and I came in on Saturday on our way down to San Clemente. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger, zucchini, and a bacon breakfast burrito and split everything! The bacon cheeseburger was nothing fancy, although the bacon was good. Everything was fresh but I wasn't impressed! The Zucchini's were pretty good! The Bacon breakfast burrito was OK, but the bacon seemed really cheap! It was chunky and half the burrito had a ton of bacon the other did not! I found myself scooping bacon out of my half to give to my boyfriend. Service was incredibly fast as we were just sitting down to a table, and the food was already out! It took maybe 2 minutes to get to us! The staff is very nice, but the food was just OK.

DO NOT order the burgers, they aren't that great. In-n-Out's right next door are much better.
DO ORDER - Any and all breakfast burrito's, well any of the Mexican food for that matter. Non-Mexican food lunch you'd be best off with the chicken sandwich and the awsome zuccini fries. Oh and the fries are really good.
If you're in the mood for a burger grab a double double then walk over to A's for some fries.
Bring cash it's all they take.
Service is really fast. -

Mission Viejo, CA
A's is a great little place. The burgers are what you'd expect from a local joint that cares, the fries are good, and the fried Zucchini is a local legend. But my favorite item on the A's menu is the chorizo breakfast burrito. It taste so good that I can justify the occasional 1000+ calorie outburst.
It amazes me that people clog the left turn lane just past A's to go to In-N-Out. In-N-Out burgers are good (it's the sauce) but don't be fooled by the "make them wait, it will seem more valuable" strategy of In-N-Out. Eat at A's they respect your taste buds and your time. -

You never forget your first time...I was just a kid in jr. high when I had my first experience with this place. The way that tasty steak breakfast burrito looked at me, those yummy chips basking in the sunlight, and that large cherry coke making me thirsty. Not only are the breakfast burritos amazing, their hamburgers and burritos are pretty tasty themselves. Let's not forget the great French fries and onion rings. Many mornings after surfing this was the place to eat.

Every time i am in or pass through laguna niguel, i make a pit stop at A's burgers.
They are super fast, cheap and friendly. i have been coming here on and off for the past 5 years and every time i get greeted by this happy gentlemen @ the counter. i am not sure if he still works there, but he always greeted you with a smile.
Although i have not tried their breakfast burritos, their A's double burger and their bacon cheeseburger is mint. i honestly prefer it over in-n-out, which is literally a jump, skip, and a hop away.t
These burgers will not disappoint! -

Fuckin' A's, this place is good!
Used to come here all the time after class at Saddleback. Their burgers are a poor man's version of In-N-Out - not necessarily a bad thing. However, what makes this place shine, is their amazing BREAKFAST BURRITOS. Definitely my favorite breakfast burrito of all time. I usually get the ham and egg. It comes loaded with ham, eggs, melted cheese, and potatoes. Their fries are above average. Onion rings and fried zucchini are worthwhile too. Also, the cholas behind the counter always provide fast service.
They charge $.75 for ranch and only accept cash, which is pretty trashy, but what can you do?....Go here anyways, that's what! -

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
I've been eating here since 1995 and it's still, by far and away, the FASTEST service for the BEST breakfast burrito I've ever had. My food is always ready before I even have time to put my change in my wallet and grab a container of salsa. I can't remember a time I've come here and ordered anything but either a ham or bacon breakfast burrito with a large cherry Coke. And the green salsa they have is the best - cool & refreshing, but with a bite.
I really don't need to say much more. Anyone who lives anywhere near A's knows how awesome the food is. Everyone else needs to eat here and find out.Listed in: You're The Best... Around

Very fast. Above decent burger and fries (they won't dissapoint). It needs to be said that "there is ZERO WAIT!"....if you are in a hurry on your lunch break, and don't have time to wait for "in-n-out", then go to A's, they are super quick, and they're food is satisfying.

Yummy, greasy food at reasonable prices. Their breakfast burritos are awesome, especially the machaca. Their burgers are decent, but I'm still partial to a double-double at In-N-Out right down the street.
Their fried zucchini with a side a ranch are pretty tasty too... -

Los Angeles, CA
I'm not really feeling this place, which makes me pretty sad because I usually love what another Yelper referred to as "b-fare cuisine." I picked up a bacon cheeseburger and fries for lunch, and everything just felt really uncharacteristic of what I expect from this kind of meal.
See, behind every memorable burger is a defining property that gives it some soul. In-N-Out is remembered for its special sauce and love-it-or-hate-it fries. The favorite burger joint in my hometown is remembered for its combination use of red onions and grilled onions. Even the Big Mac is a tremendous success in this regard.
But all I remember from A's is pickles, mayo, and meat similar to what you'll find at the Carls Jr next door. None of this was really a huge problem, but I didn't really find anything to like about the burger itself. The bacon was harder than I'd like, and so it ended up detracting from the burger rather than enhancing it.
The fries, although way too expensive (I think 2.69?), are worth a mention. They look and taste like what you'd find at the golden arches, but with less salt. Not really something that affected the review positively or negatively, but I think it's worth bringing up.
The one thing I appreciate is that you get your food pretty quickly here. My order came in less than 4 minutes, which is mostly unheard of. If you really like A's Burgers, as seems the norm, then this can only be a plus. -

Still on the search for that great Breakfast Burrito, you know something that can match the King of the Breakfast Burrito "Lucky Boy" in Pasadena, ca.
Today my stomach brings me to A's Burgers now I hear they have some pretty good burgers, but I gotta have my Bacon Breakfast Burrito.
The place is nothing fancy, in fact by the looks of the interior it's been here a while, longevity = good food?, well sometimes!, so after I place my order and snap a couple of photos my food is ready that fast!.
Breakfast Burrito (Bacon) - http://www.yelp.com/bi... Hmmm it's on the smaller side diameter wise.
Bacon, Eggs, Potato's and Cheese http://www.yelp.com/bi... Ohhh look at all that bacon!, and it's smaller because they don't load it full of potato's which is fine with me, it;s also very light on the cheese as i really did not find much, it would have been nice to have just a little more potato's and cheese but it's still a good burrito!. 4-Stars
The salsa http://www.yelp.com/bi... They had two to choose from and I only used the hotter one which was real good. 5-Stars

Oh A's burgers how I missed you. I decided I am going to put together a list of breakfast burrito places and that I should review A's before I added them to my list. They are on the top!
These (served all day) breakfast burritos are the best I've ever had. Jam packed and enough to pretty much keep you going all day. They have potatoes, salsa, egg, cheese, rice and are probably one of the cheaper options. If you are ever near Avery Pkwy. you are missing out on one of the most amazing breakfast burritos you will ever eat.
I have nothing to say about their other food, because with Bfast burritos like that, who needs to try anything else.
p.s.: Parking can get crowded and its next to In-n-Out.Listed in: Breakfast Burritos

Ordered the A's Double Burger (that doesn't come with cheese)... Average burger... Tomato, mayo, onions, cheese and the meat.
Nothing spectacular. Decided to go here instead of In N Out because In N Out is always jam packed.
Quality of food: Eh... as I said nothing special. I'd give it a B.
Food wait time: Service is fast, made quickly. A
Service: Excellent. A
Maybe their burritos are something to die for, but in my opinion I'd rather go to In n out next time and spend LESS!!
Also, $4.xx for a double double is NOT cheap!! It should be much meatier than that! -
Review from Tamara J.
I'd never go out of my way for it.
But on the way to the beach, it's a must. The zucchini and onion rings simply rock. And the portions are huge!
They make a very decent 'commitment burger'. I call it that because its one of those burgers that when you pick it up and take your first bite, you're committed. If you put it down, all the messy delicious innards fall out and you're doomed.
Definitely a hangover haven. -
Review from David v.
A's is a small joint tucked under the 5 freeway at Avery and the only reason why I know about the place is because I use to work in the area and have been to the In-n-Out on the same street. It was my first time trying this place, but I think it was an experience I could have done without.
We stopped by looking for a breakfast burrito to calm our stomachs after a night of celebrating a birthday with some sake. The first thing you notice upon entering is the place is a very old mom an pop shop. This instantly gave me a good feeling about the food considering they have been in this location for a while. I get my egg and sausage burrito and it is very one note and not very good. It sounds surprising that a breakfast burrito could be bad, but it was. On the positive side, what it was missing in flavor definitely made up for calming our stomachs though. This is definitely filler food and great for post drinking blues.
The food was below average in my opinion, but I can see lot of high school or college students liking this type of food (at the time, it seems like there were a few from Saddleback College). Sigh. I think I am getting old and my tastes aren't what they use to be. If you are looking just to fix your hangover, this might be a good place for you. However, if your looking for a good meal, I think you should probably look elsewhere. -

I had a work project to do at the break of dawn, so did not have breakfast. My tummy was rumbling a little bit and I wanted to take care of this cry for food. I started thinking about my breakfast options in South Orange County. Break of Dawn down in Laguna Hills would have been appropriate, but they are Closed on Mon-Tues. I then decided on good old A's, as I have not been here for awhile. I decided to take the scenic route, which for me is through the Mission Viejo Mall. I love driving through the winding lanes and speed bumps of MV Mall parking lot to get to the other side of Marguerite. It is kind of therapeutic for me to crank up the tunes and speed a little through this course.
When I get to A's, there are semi trucks galore parked on the side of the road. Lots of truckers stop off in this area to get food. That could be a reason how 3 burger places can survive side by side. First there is A's, then Carl's Jr and last but not least, good old In-N-Out.
I walked into A's and was immediately greeted by the young ladies. They are always very consistent with a friendly greeting. I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito and an OJ and walked over to the salsa bar. They have two salsas here and both are good and tasty. The chunky salsa is very tasty and just has a little kick to it. The red is not as tasty to me but still good and with a tad bit more of a kick. I got both as I like to mix them together.
Within a couple of minutes my order was up. The breakfast burrito comes with some tortilla chips, so I started out with some chips and salsa. Then it was breakfast burrito time. Eggs were nice, fresh and fluffy. Potatoes were a nice complement to the chopped up sausages and perfectly melted cheese. I hate it when places give you too much of one thing and that is pretty much all you can taste. A's breakfast burrito is a good, balanced mixture of the ingredients. And when the salsa met up with the burrito, it was heaven. I shut up the cries of my tummy for sure.
They serve their breakfast burritos all day long and are currently going for $4.38 plus tax. It is a decent size breakfast burrito. It is no Lucky Boys in Pasadena for sure but it was just large enough to hit spot.Listed in: I will gladly pay you Tuesday…, Breakfast and Brunch, More than a city with a…

I feel lied to. I read a review upselling the zucchini. I like zucchini! Especially from a burger joint, it makes me feel like I'm getting a healthy dose of vegetables, even if they are deep fried. These zucchini were actually not good at all. Completely unseasoned (salt? pepper? hello? Bueller?), I could taste neither zucchini nor even the fried part. Thank goodness I could dip the strips in ranch sauce to actually add some flavor, which was actually quite tasty.
Once I got past the monumentally bad zucchini strips, I got to my burger. The cheeseburger was actually really good! A decent size, very flavorful, nice melty cheese and fresh lettuce, onion, and pickle. The burger almost redeemed the experience. Almost. -

Less than $5 for a solid breakfast burrito? I'm sooo there!
Delicious mixture of egg, cheese, and your choice of meat (sausage, ham, and steak just to name a few) wrapped in a flour tortilla. You're probably thinking "yea yea, that's just the same as any other typical breakfast burrito" but I guarantee you that it's not!
I absolutely love the soft texture/consistency of the burrito. Served fresh, the burrito with its soft egg-based filling, its warm melted cheese that fills the voids, and its warm, soft tortilla can literally make you want to get seconds (been there, done that)
Definitely a place to hit up on your way to or from the beach. It's right next to the 5 freeway exit. -

Mission Viejo, CA
I will never eat here again. The only reason I tried A's in the first place was because of all the people raving about it with their bumper stickers. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a side of zucchini fries. The burger was small and extremely mediocre. The fries were good, however if you want to enjoy them with a side of ranch get ready to waste 75 cents.
I gave A's a second chance because they supposedly have the "best breakfast in town" according to their window advertisement. I ordered the bacon, egg and potato burrito. Once again, bad move. The burrito was ridiculously overpriced considering how tiny it was. With almost every bite into the burrito I got a solid chunk of fat. Just do yourself a favor and go to In N' Out right next door! -

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
I really don't get the hype. I've tried this place 5 times now over several years, and all it has ever been was blah at best.
They serve a small selection of burgers and Mexican food. Here are the items I've tried:
Hamburger - Remember those hamburgers they served at your elementary school? Ever eaten the burgers at AM\PM? Then this will bring back memories - bad ones. Tiny, super thin, and crappy. Decent buns, fresh produce, but that can't save the burger. 1.5 stars.
Carne Asada - This goes for the burrito and the combo plate, as they both suffer the same fate for the same reason. They are barely edible as they are extremely salty. I had the burrito twice and the plate once over the past 2 years, and it was the same every time. The meat was of decent quality, but who cares when the recipe calls for equal parts salt? 1.5 stars.
Fried Zucchini - Cut too small, no flavor. 2 stars.
Service - 3 stars
Flavor - 1 star
Quality - 3 stars
I would give this place 1 star, but the food is fresh and decent quality, and they are a local chain that I know actively supports the local schools, so for that alone I give them the extra star. It's just too bad they bungle it all up by making it taste horrible - I really want to like them, but I am pretty sure my feet will never touch their floors again.Listed in: La comida Mexicana, Burger Joints

Even better than the hamburgers are their Chicken Sandwiches!!! Though, I go wiiild for their Fried Zucchini with a side of Ranch. Forget french fries or chips and salsa, the zucchini is where it's at :)
I love this place's location: right off the freeway and on my way to the beach. Tight parking lot next to an adorable Spanish-style building, but fast drive-thru takes care of all that. Eating in will guarantee hot looking surfers, AND the food is good?? WOW, 5 STARS!!! -

So I might get berated for this, but I don't think In'N'Out is anything to crap yourself over. I get it when people from out of state want to go, since it's a California thing (like getting a hot dog in Chicago), and I even enjoy a burger and fries from there occassionally myself. But it's not the best burger I've ever had. I am talking about In'N'Out because it is 2 doors down from A's Burgers, always ridiculously packed, and A's burgers have about the same flavor as In'N'Out burgers to me. Or at least they are comparable enough that when faced with that gnarly In'N'Out line, A's sounds pretty tasty. They have good fries and breakfast burritos too.
I might have even gone with 4 stars, but the last time I was there I had to use the restroom and it was dirrrrty. Like, shit splatters on the back of the toilet dirty. Piss on the seat dirty. A total hovering situation. When restaurants have bathrooms like that, that are meant for the customers to use, it makes me wonder what the kitchen and other parts I can't see must look like. -

A local instution.
The original maker of the big fat Mexican style breakfast sandwich, burger , burrito thingy.
The rings are monstrous, the fries are good too.

Been going here since I was little and I've never had anything I didn't like. I'm a big fan of their breakfast burritos, they're amazing. Its all about the chorizo breakfast burrito. You will die and go straight to heaven whe you bite into it. The burgers are pretty good too, but I really don't go there for anything besides breakfast burritos.
You must go here and experience the greatness. Its a hole in the wall locals place and the food is definitely worth a try.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Ahhhhh...A's Burgers...This place is a throw back to my days of High School. Anyone who has attended Capo Valley has been raised on the A's Breakfast Burritos. It's a right of passage or something like that...
Dropped by A's last weekend and introduced my girlfriend to the burritos and more importantly their salsa.
Let's start with the food. Everything is good. Burgers, Tacos, Burritos...standard Burger Shack.
The real kicker here is their salsa. I'd drink this stuff straight out of the 1 ounce cups it comes in. My favorite is a Bacon Breakfast Burrito with extra cheese. It comes standard with tortilla chips on the side. Get at least 4 cups of the salsa and eat equal parts salsa to burrito. When you finished with the burrito, use the chips to finish off your salsa. If you have chips left and no salsa, get up and get more salsa...
When you are done, check out the pictures of the old Capo Valley football teams...90-91 CIF champs...good guys on that team. Nope not me...I just remember them winning. Then go for a short walk next door and check out the cool cars at OC Car Connection...Say hi to Ron....great guy with a passion for fast cars! -
Review from Monica D.
I've been here twice over the past two weeks just to satisfy random breakfast burrito cravings, and I have not been let down. A's has been here for what seems like forever, but the family wasn't too impressed the first time we frequented this joint... in like 1988 or something. Since then, we as a unit have always preferred In-n-Out two businesses down. However, I really am impressed with my recent trips here!
The establishment is small, comfy, clean, and usually bustling with customers during breakfast hours -- especially on the weekends. They have a fairly extensive menu to satisfy any discriminating palate, and they are pretty generous on substitutions (I don't make 'em, but DAYAMN I've heard people change some crazy stuff in their orders!) -- the staff are young and pretty nice. However, like I mentioned, I've only come in here for to-go BBs...
The chorizo BB is to die for, like a previous Yelper mentioned. One bite and you're sold. Just don't expect potatoes like I stupidly did a few years ago. Duh. Chorizo and egg burritos almost always usually come with refried beans. Anywho, I digress. The bacon is a little salty but it's perfectly complementary to their just-spicy-enough thick salsa. Yummy. Even though I am a huge fan of the feed-me-for-8-meals proportions, I must say that A's breakfast burritos are a decent bang for the buck as well -- not so overwhelmingly big as I've seen at other joints, but enough for a decent-sized and satisfying meal. That means a LOT to someone who is attempting to reduce meal portions like myself.
The best part of A's is just how fly their service is -- I literally came in at about 10:30 this morning to get my order in, and walked out at about 10:34. I thought to myself, this might not be the best sign -- but I bit into hot, fresh deliciousness (also probably had something to do with the fact that I was the only patron there at the time, but whatever). I highly recommend A's for that random BB or even burger kick when you don't feel like a double double for breakfast. Sadly they don't have a drive-thru so you do have to get your fat ass up to get your grub!
Side note: seems that most of the other Yelpers who mentioned it just RAVED about the onion rings. That is so my next purchase here. -

I went out of my way twice in one week to try A's-Ace Burgers. The first time was for dinner. J, the girlfriend, and I were headed to the Shops at Mission Viejo and didn't want to eat in the food court or have another meal at The Cheesecake Factory. I turned to Yelp on the iPhone and found A's-Ace Burgers.
The menu is rather limited. Burgers, a few Mexican items and not much else. I went with a cheeseburger and onion rings and J went with the cheeseburger and fries. The burgers are as basic as you can get. Bun, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, patty and cheese. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. I think the best word to describe it is "typical". I prefer a little more flair with my burger (toasted bun, secret sauce, well seasoned beef, etc) but that's not really an option here. The onion rings are definitely above average. When you bite into the ring the onion and batter stay together. No slimy onion worms here. Both the fries and onion rings could stand to be better seasoned though. I don't know why so many restaurants refuse to salt their food when it comes out of the fryer. If McDonald's can figure it out why can't everyone else?
My second venture to A's-Ace Burgers was for a breakfast burrito. When we were walking out after the burger meal a lady at the counter ordered two breakfast burritos to go. Breakfast for dinner is one of my all-time favorite meals. Instead of ordering a breakfast burrito for the road I decided to return soon.
I went with the bacon and egg breakfast burrito. Like the burger it was good but not great. It was an average-sized burrito. Not as big as Fantastic Cafe or Nick's but larger than a typical fast food burrito. Eggs were the predominant ingredient with a little bacon, potatoes and cheese sprinkled in for good measure. Salsa was available at the salsa bar but it was nothing special.
The best way to sum up A's-Ace Burgers for me is that I wouldn't make a special trip for their food but if I was in the area and in desperate need of a burger or breakfast burrito I'd probably stop in again.Listed in: Breakfast Burritos in Orange…
