Join me in an innovative experience in arts, entertainment and dining in the Mt.Rainier, MD Arts District. Sitting pretty just a  minute from the DC line on Rhode Island Ave. is cozy yet modern poets, musician, artist's corner Artmosphere Digital Cafe.  From the foyer entry welcoming with freshly cut flowers to the overstuffed comfy arm chairs Artmosphere's atmposphere speaks quiet elegance lovingly rendered for your comfort, stimulation and optimum entertainment experience.
With an aura of "Holy Voltage" also amusingly stencilled on the backs of brightly colored dining chairs, everything from the sienna warm  terra cotta colored walls to the hand painted artist's quotes amidst curiously hung older 45 vinyl records, whispers: "stay awhile"  ...
Conveniently located on the first level of a 4 level artist's loft apartment building, this gem of a find beckons you in from the handsomely curtained floor to ceiling glass windows to the wonderful sturdy art-deco furnishings.
The cafe is owned and managed by musician drummer of  our local reggae band, Proverbs. This oasis of thriving art (virtual art gallery on wall mounted monitors thru-out) live music, independent film presentations (huge overhead screen) plus  healthy delicious fare, the cafe is topped off with free wi-fi and optional outdoor seating for change of scenery.  I found myself lost momentarily in the well planned attractively functional optional seating in art deco. No sooner being serenaded by the sultry  Neo Soul singer establishing "rapport" with her eyes and her rendition of "Strange Fruit".
I scanned the extensive menu of beer ,wine, expresso bar, selection  of wraps, healthy salads, variety of soups, deserts and pastries to find myself salivating on the wrap selections and settling on the  Tendu Tuna Wrap. Pleasantly entertained by the menu with reasonably priced($6-$8) hot and cold entrees including many vegetarian choices, with optional chicken, turkey or fish items, I find Jada and Nicole to be righteously accommodating providing swift and courteous service to my delight.  I am not the least disapointed with my choice  of succulently spiced tuna cradled in moist spinach wrap and topped with drippings of balsamic vinegar. Definetely try this one!  Being not shy, I plan a return visit for the promise of some choice selections with names like Chic Corea Caesar Wrap, Della Reese Deli Wrap, Celia Cruz Cous-cous salad and Harmonic Humus Platter. Several Torta(pastry typed layered) selections like Eggplant Parmesean(hot), Brocolli and Cheddar Quiche are sure to please and will definitely keep this cafe starlit on the map. On Jada's recommendation I savor the scrumptious delightful sweet potato cake for desert. I highly recommend this delectable treat drizzled with caramel sauce!
After 2 hours at 10:30pm the band winds down and the owner personally thanks the crowd for patronizing while giving a brief history and introduction to the cafe and the arts district of Mt. Rainier.
Do plan to catch the exquisite entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights running the gamut from Jazz to Reggae to Gospel and Fusion Funk.  For the poet in you don't miss the poet's corner open-mic on Wednesdays. Bring the entire family for Saturday or Sunday Brunch with additional features to note:  Creative Kid's Corner, private events and the Resource Corner bulletin board for artists.
With something for everyone, the friendly staff, soothing yet stimulating atmosphere and some of the best healthy, tasty fare, beer wine and expresso bar in the area you won't deny that this digital cafe is a "sit, sip and be inspired" gem!

As of April 2009, Artmosphere is closed. Word has it that Sidamo Coffee and Tea will be opening in that location in the near future.

Artmosphere is a beautiful addition to the Mt Rainier community. It's located in the MRAL, Mt.Rainier Artist Loft building, right on the Mt. Rainier circle. Dyrell and Andaiye have done a first class job with the decor. It is very cozy and they showcase the best local talent.
