Another 5-star review for these guys! They were a little late to arrive (20 minutes) but were quick, efficient, and all of my belonging made it without any damage to the new place.
Oh and after a phone call, Tom sent me an e-mail confirmation (super handy!) and a reminder phone call a day before the move (which got me his cell, I think, that I called on the day of my move when the movers were running late)
On top of being super helpful, their rates are very reasonable and the guys are very personable. Will definitely use them again for any future moves! -

These movers were great! Happy about supporting local artists, and they made us proud by doing a great job.
We are accustomed to doing our own moves, so we felt a little guilty allowing them to do the work for us. Given our crazy schedules, it was welcome assistance. We will be ready to operate in our new space one day after the move, saving us money in the end.
Movers arrived on time, packed and moved our entire office and moved us into our first commercial office space. Exciting times. Handled with grace.
The guys were quiet but diligent, and worked steadily without complaint. Very friendly and easy to spend the day with.
Everything was handled with care and I trusted them immediately. They had to work longer than expected, but did so without complaint. They even did an extra errand I had forgotten about. Nothing was damaged and they even agreed to assemble, install, and earthquake-strap some new pieces for us.
There was a miscommunication about who was hauling the garbage, but they handled it professionally and we appreciated their understanding, regardless of the miscommunication. The hours went pretty far beyond what was quoted, but we expected they would given the time quote, and had planned for extra given our scope of work. They worked hard and non-stop, and it was a fair exchange we felt completely good about. We were happy to buy them some lunch and enjoyed their company.
We wish each of the movers' art work were represented on their website, rather than just the owner. We are interior designers and are always looking for local artists to specify in our work. Love the idea of collaborative artists.
That being said, we highly recommend, will hire again!
Thanks, guys! You have spoiled us. We will never move on our own again! -

I recently moved from Pac Heights to the Marina and needed help with my big items- couch, dresser, etc. I got a LivingSocial deal for Artists Moving so I decided to try them out. The owner Tom is super nice and accommodating. I sent him a list of my items and he gave me a quote of 2-3 hours and said the guys would be there between 12-2pm on Saturday.
I got a little panicky when, at 2pm, no one had shown up and I couldn't reach the company. I finally got a hold of Tom and he said the move in the morning took longer than expected and the team would be there at 3:15. Obviously not ideal that they were late, but I appreciated them getting back to me. Once John and Bernard arrived, they were fantastic! They were very nice and very quick. They were total pros and got it all done in about 2 hours.
I highly recommend Artist's Moving and would def use them again! -

Rage and anger is all I feel towards this "moving company". They were so bad even they knew it when they asked us NOT to review them. I owe this review to people like myself who use yelp as a tool.
Long story short:
-They scheduled my move from Oakland back to SF on the wrong day & time
-They showed up 3.5 hours late (as if moving isn't stressful enough)
-They started charging us when they left SF
-They complained about how much stuff we had (they're movers Tha's their job and that's why people with too much stuff hire movers)
-I have never lost a dish when I moved myself and I lost a lot when they moved us
-Their "phone died" when they got to our new place so they couldn't call when they arrived. He said he wouldn't charge us for the 10 minutes he waited for us
-After all this and then some they... CHARGED US FULL PRICE!
-They kept bringing up a LivingSocial $100 off coupon that they thought we had and when I told them that we never said we had the coupon they didn't offer us $100 off for our stress and troubles A) we were honest B) They were late and whiny and didn't offer us anything and asked us NOT to review them
-They were so late that we couldn't use the freight elevator so it took longer because we had to use the common elevator which was smaller and used by the other tenants.
I wasn't going to review them because I felt bad that they sucked so bad but they sucked so bad that I owe this review to other people who rely on yelp. I moved at the end of October and have had some time to calm down and be level headed about my review. -

I recently used artists moving and am very pleased with their service. They showed up within the time window they gave me. Were friendly and moved all my stuff efficiently.
Only thing is I did not have any furniture or stuff that needed extra love so i probably could have gotten away with labor from outside home depot but for their service and own truck artist moving is worth the peace of mind. Recommend! -

Artists Movers are the moving company to use. Best rates and fast.
The movers were some of the nicest people I've met in the city and it was a pleasure giving them business and knowing that in some way I am helping some people pursue their true passions.
The truck is bitchin' and we talked about how the Oakland cranes were the inspiration for AT-ATs in Star Wars...yup. -

I called Artist Moving for a quote and was told that I would get a call back shortly to set something up for that weekend.
It's been a week and I haven't gotten my call.
Needless to say I went with another moving company that can actually return a phone call.Comment from Thomas F. of Artists Moving 12/21/2011

Tom and co rock. They've moved me twice and are always super cool and professional.
They just recently helped me with a mattress situation that ended up being more work than they bargained for and didn't hesitate one second to do what needed to be done.
No one else touches my stuff but these guys. Period. -

Artist Moving moved us two weeks ago and I still can't stop thinking about how great they were. They moved us from Pacific Heights to Potrero and we didn't make it easy by being on the top floor of elevator-less buildings on both ends of the move They worked their butts off and were good natured and in general a lot of fun. I've had some of the worst moving experiences in my San Francisco history. I never expected the experience could be this great. I hope that Artist Moving has a very long and successful business. I'll be sure to let all of my moving friends know that there is nobody else to have move you. Thanks for making it easy (and affordable).

Really great customer service. Very attentive and friendly folks. Tom was great...going the extra mile, it seemed to me... for scheduling a time within a short time frame. He was also very accommodating when I did not communicate the address well enough for the initial meet up. And a really great price compared to other movers.

We found one of those specials on http://LivingSocial.com that lead us to using Artists Moving. We moved out towards the peninsula about 30 minutes from the city. The special was to get half off the hourly rate for the first hour (which includes travel time)
Tom and his associate were fast and efficient. We had moved into a two story unit including a loft. They hauled over our bed and large dresser easily. That was the one task that we thought would be difficult moving in and they completed the task within minutes.
The LivingSocial Deal was a prepaid voucher that my wife had ordered. I was the one at the moving site and actually overpaid since the voucher was prepaid. I wasn't aware of this until later that day when Tom actually called me to notify me of this. He sent my money back via PayPal the next day.
I would recommend Artist Moving to anyone, especially if you're moving into a unit in the city, where it seems like space is limited. It is evident these guys know how to efficiently move large items/furniture into tight spaces. -

VERY happy with the service from this place. It was the Sunday night of a holiday weekend, and we had gotten a sofa out of storage and literally could NOT get the damned thing from our hallway into our living room (tight corners). We looked on Craigslist for movers willing to do such a small job at such an inconvenient hour, and happily found Artist Moving. They got back to us really quickly and even promised that if they came over to take a look and thought it just couldn't be done, they wouldn't charge us. In any event such kindness wasn't necessary, as it took them all of 3 minutes to get the couch through our narrow doorways and into position. Which left me and the boyfriend feeling a tad foolish but very, very grateful. I would absolutely recommend this business.

All I can say about these guys - AWESOME! They were on time, gave me a fair price (I called a bunch of places.) were friendly, careful with my stuff, and didn't mind it little extra bits of work as they came up.
They are efficient and came fully equipped - they had tools to disassemble and reassemble furniture, blankets to protect things, etc.
They're so good I'm recommending them to my boss for her move. -

I absolutely love this small moving company. Tom is a great guy -- friendly, professional, honest, hard-working. I've used them several times and they went above and beyond the call of duty for me.
In fact, one of the jobs was unexpectedly tough -- a long couch into an old building with a difficult entrance and a narrow hall. They tried every combination of angles, twists, turns, and removing the legs of the couch and the door itself, and were ultimately successful. I was really impressed, because they didn't give up and didn't get frustrated, but just kept trying different methods until they succeeded.
Absolute professionals. I'd recommend them to my mother. -

Tom was awesome tonight, helped me move a couch across town. The move was not fun, lots of angling in between tight doorways and ever the patient one, he was able to get the job done AND was careful with the couch (far more careful than I might have been alone).
Professional. Reasonable Prices. I will call again. Thank you Tom. -

Tom and Luis rock. Two guys. One truck. One apartment. Mucho boxes. No problems.
Recommended by Warren @ Bay Area Box Express (also a great resource if you're moving, check his Yelp page) Tom and Luis showed up on time, great attitude in tow and ready to work. Even though they moved fast they didn't cut corners and were very careful about making sure the furniture was wrapped and handled carefully. When it comes to what you'd want in a mover, they have it, and at a cost quite a bit lower than some of their competition. Couldn't have asked for more.
Even after we realized the storage facility my girl was set to move into was a complete and total shithole (that's a review for another time) and asked Tom (this at ~7PM on a Friday) if he'd be willing to sit on our stuff overnight and then move it into a better facility early the next morning, he was nothing but accommodating. We ended up just moving into the place anyway, but something tells me we'll be moving out before too long, and now we know who to call.
Can't recommend Artist Moving enough. Great guys, hard working (caught Tom actually running up and down our stairs, and Luis was happy to tackle boxes that would have damn near snapped my spine), really flexible when curveballs come at you, and all for a damn good price.
5/5 stars, 100% deserved. -

These guys had a pretty good attitude, however took about 1.5 more hours than expected and arrived about 30 minutes late to my 9am moving appt.
I talked to Tom about 2 weeks before my move, and during that conversation we discussed the size of my apt, and the main items we'd be moving. Compared to Delancey St Movers (my only other moving experience), Tom asked fewer questions.
On moving day Tom and his partner were 30 minutes late (which was fine, because he called) but then what we thought was going to take 2 hours actually ended up taking about 3.25 hours, delaying my SF departure. In addition to the move being on the slower side, my boyfriend and I moved a majority of our boxes from our second floor apt for Tom and friend to pack into our truck.
All in all, I hired Artist Movers to save a buck. In my previous experience, I had hired Delancey St Movers - who took only 1.5 hours of time, but charged for 3 hrs minimum. If I had a chance to re-do my recent move, I would have hired Delancey, paid for the three hours, and saved myself about 2 hours.
Tom would be great for a short or a smaller move, I just don't recommend him for a full 1-bedroom apartment move.Comment from Thomas F. of Artists Moving 8/7/2009

Fantastic company! I had a great experience with Artist Moving tonight. I found a couch that I liked on Craigslist earlier this week and went to see it. When I decided to purchase the couch I called Tom to set up a time for him to pick it up and deliver it to me. He and a colleague showed up on time at the seller's apartment (the seller reported back to me that they were very professional) and packed up the couch and paid for it (yes, Artist moving paid for my couch, which meant I didn't have to go back to the seller's after the initial couch viewing!!). Within 30 minutes they were on their way to my apartment. All I had to do was wait at my apartment where I didn't lift a finger, except to write a check of course (for the total amount of my purchase plus the cost of delivery).
The entire process was painless. Tom was easy to communicate with and was flexible in his availability.
I am happily sitting on my new couch as I write this. I will definitely use Artist Moving again!! -

Tom is awesome, period!
He is reliable, helpful, sincere, accommodating and responsible. He is very flexible and always tries his best to schedule me in even with a very short notice. One time, I still haven't finished packing when he got to my place for the move and he even brought boxes over then helped me pack.
I hired him 3x now for my crazy moves this year and would totally recommend him without a doubt!
Thanks Tom! -

Artists Movers are great. They showed up right on time and moved my stuff quickly. They were very friendly and helpful. They made my move to the city and easy one and I recommend them to anyone interested. I looked around and got other prices as well, and Artists Movers has the best prices for the best service. Give them a call for your moving needs!

AWESOME!!! Came out the day after I called. Picked everything up (sectional couch and ottoman) in the pouring rain without any complaints, brought them to my house, unpacked and placed accordingly. They even fronted to money to the seller so I wouldn't have to make a trip because I'm six months pregnant!!!
Great service, friendly staff and prompt service. Would HIGHLY recommend these guys!! -

I had a pretty good experience with Artist Moving. I hired Tom just to move some big pieces of furniture within the same neighborhood. Since his prices were so reasonable, I ended up asking him to move a few extra items that I was originally going to do myself. He was extremely accommodating with these last minute additions.
My new building also had high standards for moving companies, and the building manager supervises all moves to make sure nothing is damaged in the hallway. Tom and his partner were completely respectful of this and were vary cautious when carrying items into the elevator and through the hallway.
My only complaint was that they were a couple hours late. I did receive a call ahead of time, and fortunately since I was doing a local move and moving boxes myself, I was going to be around all day and this didn't affect my plans too much. I had elevators and loading docks reserved at the original time, and lucked out that the next person who had these reserved didn't need to start using them on time. However, if it hadn't been for the delay of schedule, I would give Artist Moving 5 stars.
Regardless, I would definitely use them again for an easy local move. -

Not only are the guys at Artist Moving Systems reliable, speedy and affordable, they're also friendly as all get out when you insist on taking your picture for the umpteenth time in front of their awesomely hand painted moving van!
You too can be the envy of everyone on the road as you cruise from your old digs to your new pad while riding along side one of the most eye-catching and bizarre mobile art pieces in San Francisco.
Our giant 2bdrm Outter Richmond flat was packed, moved, and unloaded into our 1bdrm (third story walk-up, no less!) in 4 hours. It almost made me cry tears of zero-moving-stress joy.
Not that I'm looking to move again any time soon, but, when that time finally comes, we're definitely calling Artist Moving Systems again. -

Tom has moved me TWICE in the past year and it has always been very pleasant.
The first time, from SOMA to Pac Heights, he was late, but they kept me updated on their ETA (they were coming from another job). They were super fast and efficient and even put together my crappy IKEA bed even though it was a mess.
The second time, from Pac Heights to Lower Haight, it was raining, and my new place is on the third floor. They made sure everything was protected and got it done quickly and well.
I can't say enough good things about these guys. I've been recommending them to lots of friends over the past year, and now I recommend them to you as well. They take at least one part of moving and make it a lot less miserable, for not a lot of dough.Comment from Thomas F. of Artists Moving 4/19/2010

Tom and crew were great. Everything you want in a move, but don't expect to get: speed, punctuality, smiles, experience, some nice conversation, efficient loading, and not one complaint at how much stuff I was moving into one small storage space. And they handled my stuff with care. Recommended by Warren, boxman@bayareaboxexpre... , who is also good people.
The best move yet: start with Warren at bay area box express and then call Tom with Artist Moving. Done! -

Update: I have to say the owner of artists movers contacted me and explained what happened to create my impression. He admitted that my day he had overbooked and was less than organized. He offered to give me a refund of the difference that I felt I overpaid and offered me a free delivery. In addition, he did mention the part about my bike. That it wasn't hijacked but simply disorganization and he would share my same impression if it happened to him. That completely redeemed my experience and while I won't be asking for a refund, I am going to take him up on a free delivery at some point in time.

Instead of me moving, I needed multiple pieces of furniture delivered to me from separate locations. Artist Moving was so easy to work with even with such a difficult situation. I couldn't figure out how to pick up/pay/move the furniture all back to my house without crying, so I called them with my situation. Everything worked out perfectly. They were happy to front the money to the people I was buying furniture from and then just have me pay them back once the furniture was delivered to me. It was the easiest moving experience..because I didn't move at all. Their rates are pretty good and the guys are really friendly! I'll be calling them in the future for my next move.

Highly recommend! The MOST reasonable rates I found among searching for several affordable options. In retrospect, this was even a better option than renting a zip truck and paying a friend for the day to help out (which was my plan B). Tom was wonderful to work with. He is professional, personable, extremely accommodating, and super hard working! He picked me up at my place in the Mission and I rode with him in the van out to my storage unit in Hayward and back to the Mission. We were able to do the whole job in about 4 hours including drive time. He took great care with my things - even wrapping items that I wouldn't think to be careful with. Thank you Tom for making my move to SF so unstressful!

Tom was on time, quick and efficient when moving the mattress I just bought on craigslist. He arrived with a van that could have moved my whole apt. I really wanted to ride around and find other furniture for my room while I was at it. The rate was reasonable and Tom is a great guy and worker. I will definitely call again for my future moving and hauling needs.

I used Tom last weekend for a couch I bought off craigslist. First of all, he is REALLY nice. It doesn't hurt that his rates are also reasonable.
He was also very understanding when my simple couch move got a bit complicated (seller notified me at the last second that he couldn't make it but his property manager could come an hour later than the slated time...and then the property manager did not have the keys and it took half an hour to get them). He was calm about it the whole time. I definitely recommend him and plan to use him in the future for craigslist purchases that don't fit in my car. -

Tom and his buddy hauled out two offices and moved stuff across town in about 4 hours. He got a late start because they were working hard across town, but once they dug into our work I could see why..... no complaints, dedicated to getting the job done, young and seemingly indestructible. Was so impressed I hired them twice more to help with a yard haul out of debris from a remodel, and also a cleanup of the office.
A lot of other folks recommend them for their small jobs, of which I am sure they are excellent. We filled their rather large truck 3 different times now. Wouldn't hesitate to use them for a 4th. -

These guys are great. I was matched with them from Movers Circle (also great) and would definitely work with them again. We moved from Cupertino to San Francisco and had paintings, Reidels, hardwood furniture and all kinds of other fun, easy to break/scratch items. They took special care of everything and not a thing was damaged/scratched etc. The guys are nice and fast without being reckless fast. They even worked with us to get the right moving insurance that our HOA required.
They moved very efficiently and the move was quick even with a 7th floor apartment. I'd totally work with them again. Oh and did I mention the funky awesome moving truck they roll up with? -

I was really disappointed with Artist Moving. First, they delayed our move three times and didn't even bother to call the third time until I left a message an hour and a half after they said they would come. When they finally did deliver our couch, they scratched up our walls in our hallway. The worst of it was that after a few attempts, they claimed it just wouldn't fit through the door and left. When I called the next day to see if they could come back and move it through the back door, they told me their schedule was full.
I'm sure these guys can do quality work, but I think they've taken on more jobs than they can handle. If you do hire them, make sure you ask them how many jobs they have on the day in question and which jobs take priority. Schedule your move first thing in the day and remind them to be careful of the walls. -

These guys helped me move from one SF apt to another this weekend. I found them polite, respectful, and very good at what they do. They were professional and did exactly what they promised (they are both kinda cute too if that matters as a bonus)

I had them move a dresser for me. I was pleasantly surprised that they took great care to respect the walls. They took the time to make sure all of the drawers were in and working properly. I would certainly call them first if I ever need something else moved in the city.
