The best black bean burger in Hyde Park. Quintessential Cincinnati atmosphere with a fantastic selection of classic american cuisine at a moderate price. Perfect location and delicious. Expect a short wait on Friday or Saturday night but its well worth it.

Oh ya, get the fried cheeses. Makes happiness for every tummy.

Arthurs isn't quite a pub or a restaurant, but somewhere between the two. On the one side of the place is mostly restaurant tables, while the other has the bar....with more tables. So it's really more of a sit-down restaurant-type feel and has the food to match. This is one of the more reasonably-priced locations in Hyde Park and the food tends to be at the upper aspect of the pub-food scale.

On my most recent visit, I wasn't particularly hungry and was mostly looking for a beer. So we had appetizers: I had the soup of the day while my friend had the spinach and artichoke dip. The soup of the day (chicken noodle!) was fine and the artichoke dip and spinach was rather good. The spinach chips were a little bit more flaky and chewy than I expected, which was a nice surprise.

One of the more underrated things about Arthurs is that it's a pretty good place to catch a game. It doesn't have the loud atmosphere of a sports bar and it doesn't have a big Jumbotron-type screen. But it does have TVs scattered across the room and it's almost impossible to find a bad seat where you don't have at least a decent view of the screen. I'm convinced that someone had to sit down and spend a lot of time working out the sight-lines in this place.

The burger with blackened seasoning and bleu cheese was pretty solid.

The back patio is actually quite amazing... the creeping vines are super rad.

They have Guinness on tap, as well as bottled microbrews like Rogue Dead Guy.

The only annoying thing was the bartender kept on saying "Not a Problem"...

ME: Thanks, that burger is great.
HIM: Not a problem.
ME:  Here's my check, thanks.
HIM: Not a problem.
ME: Everything was really good, thanks!
HIM: Not a problem.

Of course it's not a problem, he's taking my money! It was kind of funny... I just find that phrase very nonsensical. He was a super nice dude though!

Anyway, great food, pretty cheap, and good friendly service.

This is an excellent, chill place to go if you just wanna get a burger or sandwhich and have a few beers with some friends.  They've got a pretty standard sandwhich menu, with regular specials (their Salmon BLT special was one of the best things I've eaten in the past year!).

Durring the summer, it is reccomended that you eat out in the back patio as it is really really nice and snazzy back there.  A really classy place all around, probably one of my two favorite places to eat in Hyde Park.

Two words: Boursin Burger.
That silly little sandwich is what keeps me coming back again and again to Arthur's. The interior is what you would expect in a pub-like atmosphere, with a neat mural on the wall across from the bar. The patio seating behind the building is great, and offers a more private experience on crowded nights. There is a nice beer selection, and if burgers aren't your thing, their menu offers up a nice variety of options, some vegan/vegetarian as well.

Arthurs...the place folks hang out because they cannot afford the majority of the other places in Hyde Park.

This is a pub/bar with a nice little patio area in the back.  Servers are very good and pricing is affordable.  It gets packed on the weekends, particularly in the summer.

Arthur's makes a decent burger, and I know no better value than their special Sunday- Tuesday or a burger and fries for $7.  The burger is decent, better than a lot you'll find in Cincy.  However, the fries are abysmal.  I would rather pay more than $7 and get a decent side to my burger than to eat their fries.  Quite disappointing.

There is a decent beer selection here, which is always important for a burger joint!

Another positive about Arthur's is the back patio.  It offer quite a bit of seating actually, and is a great place to enjoy a meal when the weather is nice out.  However, if it is right at meal time and gorgeous weather, you can expect to wait upwards of 45 minutes for such a table... not really worth it.

Arthurs is off the main drag in Hyde Park.

It's a great place to go if you want to grab a beer and have pub type food for dinner or later. There is a small patio for outdoor service as well.

The food is generally good, though I don't believe I've ever had anything besides a burger. The beer selection is nice (with a decent selection of micro-brews).

There is usually a long wait around dinner, and the quarters are very tight. The service is about what you expect given that the restaurant is usually packed and a long line of people waiting for a table.

It's a great place to go with a significant other if you want to take a stroll around Hyde Park, but dont' want to pay top dollar to eat.

Stopped in for lunch with Andy P. during our road trip from Dallas to Connecticut.

We had burgers.  It was good. Nothing remarkable, but  a serviceable stop nonetheless.

Probably most notable is that this was the first place on our road trip that had a wait staff member that wasn't white (young lady that brought our food was Asian, and quite fetching).

Ambiance: 18/25 stars
Food: 16/26 stars
Service: 20/25 stars
Bathroom: 15/25 stars
Probability of going back: 3% (I don't live in Cincinnati)

When I had read the descriptions on Yelp, though, I had thought it was much different than it actually was.

To read about Aurthur's, on Yelp, it seems like a burger joint of the type you can find all over this great nation of ours, sort of like the kind of place that gives you your food in a basket and has a counter. However, it really is an older restaurant that features restaurant-style hamburgers that are very meaty. Still, I went to Arthur's for the burgers and I got a burger.

The question is, how was the burger? The answer is: good! It was made very lumpy with good quality ground beef and served on a nice bun with good vegetables. It's not the kind of thing you would really think of being good, because it's just basically a huge patty of meat and a bun and lettuce and not much else; still, it's actually really good.

The vibe of Aurthur's is a little on the 'whatever' side, but it does have some charm in its age and a very curious bunch of plaques on the way to the bathroom heralding anyone who was ordered Remy Martin Louis XII there. It's a very odd juxtaposition, $6 hamburgers a kind of homespun TGI Friday's vibe and a plaque commemorating orders of a $120 drink. At this point, I'm just chalking that oddness up to Cincy's oddness and not trying to think too much about it.

Still, for a good restaurant style burger, I don't really see how it could have been much better, though the fries were of the frozen variety and that is irksome (which ultimately took it from a 4-star place to 3-stars).

Extensive beer list, decent wine list, yummy burgers, and pretty good non-burger options as well.

We stopped by yesterday night before the dinner rush (this place gets CROWDED around 7 pm) and selected fare different than our normal Burger Madness choices.

To start, we had the potato skins, which should actually be termed "Potato Pots," if I had anything to say about it.  Perfectly circle half-potatoes were stuffed with cheddar, provolone, and bacon.  The skins were crispy and delicious and served with a hefty portion of sour cream.  I could only eat one, they were huge and I didn't want to ruin my dinner.  Only $5 during Happy Hour, though.

For dinner, I had the Mexican Chicken Salad.  The salad was ice-berg covered in a fresh grilled chicken breast, black olives, jalapenos, cheese, and tomato.  It came served with a pretty good salsa and honey-dijon dressing.  Pretty good and filling for a salad.

My boyfriend ordered the fish sandwich and was pleased with his flaky and greasy cod.  For an additional 50 cents he got it topped with loads of cheddar, which he loved.  The fries that came served with his sandwich were crispy and hot...I only stole a few :)

Atmosphere is very casual.  Arthur's becomes a bar after midnight, 21 and up only...but before that, it's a very family friendly place.  Prices are reasonable, our bill came to $28 and we had an app, entrees, and beers.  Not too bad...

Located near Hyde Park Square, this local hangout offers a great $6.00 anyway you like it burger. I usually order the black bean burger or just recently the turkey burger. I must say, it was quite yum. Now surely you can have a good burger anywhere...but the cool thing with their option is you have your burger anyway you want it at no additional cost.

This bar is pretty much like any other place, but it's pretty reasonable in price and the bartenders there are pretty cool.

After moving to Cincinnati, within the first week of finding our way around the city (we'd never even visited before) we stumbled upon Arthur's.  We were tired, had low blood sugar and we entirely unaware that Arthur's was a local institution.  We just wanted a hamburger.

Our waitress was one of the kindest, sincerest people we'd ever met.  She immediately asked us if we were from out of town (it shows!) and offered a great deal of down-to-earth advice.  In other words, she wasn't blindly gushing forth platitudes about her hometown, she was honestly recommending things about the city that she really loved.  It was to our immense regret that we both realized after we'd gotten home that we forgot her name, and in the times we've been back she hasn't been working.

I normally HATE thick burgers and was incredibly disappointed when ours were brought to our table: these ones are so thick they are almost round.  However, I have to say, I finished the whole thing.  And enjoyed it.  My partner got their famous Bourisn burger and practically inhaled it.

During multiple follow-up visits out experiences have varied only a little -- the food has always been reliable, while the service is occasionally rushed or forgetful.  It's a pretty bustling bar, so I have to forgive them.  We also made the mistake of once visiting when a Bengals game was on the TV's: we couldn't hear each other over the TV and the screams of the other patrons.  Such is the risk you run.

A fun time was always to be had at Arthur's. Relatively cheap, and much better than most bar food. Actually, it's probably not on the same level as bar food, but who's to judge. I always loved the grilled veggie sandwich.

I've since left Cincinnati, but always try to hit this place when in town. Great atmosphere, good service. And dining on the patio on a summer evening was always great.

I used to live in the 'Nati & there are very few things that I miss about the city.  But, Arthurs' is definitely one of them!  Whenever I come back to the city to visit the fam, I stop by Arthurs' to eat.

Arthurs' has the best burger deal in the city & is much better than Zip's, which I find the burgers there to be thin & greasy.  The outdoor seating area is a good place to hang out with your friends.  Also try the spinich & artichoke pizza as an appetizer.  It's delish!

I've been coming to Arthur's semi-regularly for about 5 or 6 years.

They were one of the only places in town to carry Stella Artois about 3 years before anyone else had it. The place is small, almost always packed and has a great atmosphere. The mural on the wall opposite the bar always mesmerises me with the creepy charicatures. The back patio is one of the nicer outdoor dining spots in town.

For me, the food is 3 stars. The food is ok, definitely nothing to complain about. The burgers are tasty, the fries are ok. Everything else I've ever had there hasn't been memorable either way, good or bad. The burger madness deal Sun-Tues is worth it. And they don't have onion rings which I like from time to time with my burger.

All in all, it's a reliable, unique spot worth coming back to.

------EDIT-----
Burger Review for a little burger quest that I'm doing

Burger: 5
Im not a fan of a thick patty (nh) but the burger itself was perfectly cooked, juicy, and not too tightly packed. The meat itself was very tasty and not overly seasoned

Bun: 4
Lightly toasted and soft, it was about the same thickness as the burger which made it almost too tall to take a bite out of

Toppings: 4.5
Not too much lettuce, and the tomato wasn't too thick. The bacon was a great complement, but the pepper jack cheese didnt have much flavor. The bleu cheese at Arthur's is recommended

Accoutrements: 4.5
The fries were good enough, nothing spectacular, but were solid nonetheless. comes with a pickle spear. the ice in the cokes and waters was a nice surprise. unique to say the least. almost like icebergs, easy to chew. good stuff.

Atmosphere: 5
Arthur's bar area is one of a kind with a giant mural with all kinds of creepy charicatures all over it. the back patio is one of my favorite places in town to eat outside, its like going to another place. atmosphere is homey and laid back, and even though its in hyde park, there is very comfortable vibe. service was good, we didnt care for the multiple people clearing tables, refilling drinks, etc. though. decent beers on tap, standards.

Overall: 4.5
strong start for this little experiment. delicious burgers, plus all the extras, and good atmosphere

The first word that comes to mind when I think of Arthur's is tolerant. I spent one long weekend in Cinci to visit some friends and because Arthur's was walking distance from their place, we closed this place down 4 nights in a row. I've been to plenty of worse places that tolerated a lot less than we put them through, so overall I can't complain.

If you're in the adventurous mood be sure to order a "Moon Poon" (a shot of orange rum dropped into a blue moon "car bomb" style), you won't be disappointed.

To me, Arthur's is the quintessential local hangout.  Friendly people, good prices, good food.  What I love about it is how versatile it is- good for dinner with a family, dates, or catching up with friends over a few beers.

The atmosphere of Arthur's is cozy and friendly.  It's a bit worn inside, but its got character.

The food is pretty solid.  Burgers are definitely a great way to go, especially during when you can get the $6 burgers during Burger Madness.

The patio is great weather permitting- but it does get pretty busy out there.

Great place to go for burger / fry kind of night.  In the summer the outside patio is awesome.  The beer selection is pretty good and the pitcher prices are very reasonable.  Inside the place is pretty cool too.  The bar area is very comfortable and quaint.  The painting on the wall is super cool; I hope they never get rid of it.

Arthur's is one of the oldest bars in Cincinnati. The best time to go to Arthur's is for burger madness, which runs from Sunday to Tuesday night. You can get a beef, turkey, or veggie burger with as many toppings as you wish and french fries for six dollars. Be sure to go early in the evening because otherwise you will wait a good half hour for a table, as this is a very popular spot. The best seat in the house is any where on the patio outback. The patio is lit with old gaslights and white Christmas lights. Arthur's is also great for beer. They serve a great Guinness!

Great drink deals, nice atmosphere, and the best black bean burger in the city!  However, if you do order the black bean burger make sure you get it on the hoagie bun.  It's much better that way.  Also, it's so not the typical Hyde Park dining atmosphere, which is a good thing!

i am consistently pleased with arthur's food and service.  it's a fun place to hang out, have some drinks, catch up with friends.   the patio is wonderful for a summer evening, and  their spinach and artichoke dip can't be beat.

the only negative is everyone enjoys arthur's.  sometimes the wait can be long - i've been quoted as long as 2 hours.
