Great place for art classes taught by some wonderful and well known artists.
I have been taking classes for a couple months and am so glad this school was recommended to me by another artist in the making.
RE: ART STUDENTS LEAGUE OF DENVER SUMMER ART MARKET
I've been wanting to attend the summer ASLD market for years. Overall, I was a little underwhelmed with the experience. Not the art, but the other stuff.
It was a hot day, which always makes me a little cranky when I have to rub elbows with the unwashed masses. The art market is set up on the street in front of the school and there is simply not enough room to walk around when:
(1) People just stop in their tracks and stare at art in the booth (but are not actually in the booth)
(2) Families with double strollers (WTF?)
(3) Clueless middle-aged broads that bring umbrellas (Hey! You almost poked my eye out!)
(4) I don't care how adorable your dog is, please leave it at home.
The art ranged from the SUBLIME to the FUGLY (no, your 8 x 10 drawing is not worth $140, sorry. Honestly, I wouldn't even pick it out of the FREE box at a yard sale.)
In the future, I envision this art fair at a grassy park under some shady trees with lots of space between booths (and plenty of parking too!)
A great place to take art classes for a very reasonable rate. I've taken several classes there and have been very impressed. The building is a beautiful old school house, with a grand stair case, hard wood floors, enormous windows, and great neighborhood. It's not just a class it's an experience. You'll meet a lot of other very established artists and wanna bee's and some fabulous teachers who are working artists. They also have at least one art show a year (maybe more) that show off the instructors work, which you can even purchase.
You can paint or draw live models, take a clay class in the huge clay studio, or even sign the kids up for a work shop. Great spot for all artists!
