I've had at least a couple hundred things professionally framed in my lifetime - whether personal or for projects - but my experience with Art on 5th TRANSFORMED the way I feel about frames altogether.

Frames were mostly expensive ways to get the art I loved onto walls. And I had seen and purchased frames that were gorgeous in and of themselves. That about sums up my past opinions on the topic. But Clare at Art on 5th kept pulling tricks out of her sleeve - one enhancement layered upon another enhancement and so on - and the final works literally took my breath away. I keep running downstairs to look at them and they amaze me all over again.

Joe was genuine, personable and helpful in an Austin kind of way - you know what I mean?

Oh, I'll still put the run of the mill stuff in the off-the-shelf frames, but when it comes to art that I really care about, I'm putting it in the care - and the creative eyes and talents - of Art on 5th

Favorite gallery in town. Great paintings and lots of 'em! Expensive stuff, but worth every penny.

The framing at Art on 5th is a work of art itself.  Clare and owner Joe Sigel have been incredibly helpful guiding me find ways to enhance art work with the perfect frames. The work is the incredible quality, their guidance is invaluable. You can always count on seeing interesting artwork in the gallery. It's always a pleasant experience.

Disclosure: the owner of this gallery is a client of mine.  But don't let that fool you...this is no kiss-ass review.  I felt compelled to write Art on 5th up because I was blown away when I visited the gallery in person.  I think it's hard to get a sense for the quality of the artists' work unless you tour the space personally and experience the artwork for yourself.

There are many different types of artists represented here.  I would say overall I would be psyched to own 40% of what I saw hanging a couple weeks ago (in particular, works by Paul Stankiewicz, and Cynthia Chartier's "Winning Spirit" series) ...wouldn't hesitate to recommend as much as 75% of what I saw to interested clients.  Art's a very personal thing but I think virtually anyone would find something to respond to here.  If you are in the market for art, I highly recommend dropping by.  The photos online just can't possibly do the art justice.

There is also an entire room devoted to Dr. Seuss prints, which is always fun to check out.  If you are forced to tote your kids along (as I often am), that certainly keeps them visually engaged.  And their frame shop is not to be believed.  I've personally never seen so many options  under one roof before, and I know Joe is pretty persnickety when it comes to quality--so you know you're in good hands here.

So sure, I might be biased toward a client, but the point is that you have to get in there to see for yourself.

Art galleries are the new mall to me. Window shopping mostly.

I walked in and was immediately greeted although I'm sure I didn't look like the type of person that would be walking out of there with multiple purchases (or frankly, even one) anytime soon. The entire staff was really warm and courteous.

I spent a good amount of time wandering in circles. The space isn't too small or large, but it is definitely packed full of artwork. I especially enjoyed pieces by Alexandre Zerbe and Cynthia Chartier. The Dr. Seuss exhibit was larger than I expected.

I recommend signing up for their emails which are monthly and feature fun events like Girls Nights and special gallery events.

Wow. And WOW. What a great experience. We bought a print in to have framed and Clare and the rest of the Art on 5th crew blew us away with their kind, patient help. The people there listen to your requests and bend over backwards to help. In the end, the frame and trimming looked better than we could have imagined. Yeah, we're fans. If you have framing needs, go here. And Keep Austin Weird.

I went here recently to check out the Dr. Seuss exhibit they're currently hosting. What a great experience!

The staff was so friendly, making sure we felt welcome without pressuring us to purchase anything. The space is small, but crammed full of art arranged in a manner that's easy to peruse efficiently. Other than the Dr. Seuss work (which was awesome!), the gallery contained tons of other artist's work as well.

I just went to look, but everything was very reasonably priced (relative to other gallerias). Definitely worth a stop!

I went to check out this place because I needed a big pain in the ass custom frame job done. I started off thinking I would be able to do it myself, but it became quite clear that the project was overwhelming and I needed a professional. The piece I needed framed was original comic book art of an er0tic nature. This threw another wrench into the mix. A lot of places wouldn't even want to look at what I was having framed, let alone spend the time framing it. Being in Texas, I was afraid some crazy sex hater would see it, and tear it to pieces! I was a bit nervous entering an art gallery and explaining what I needed done.

Enter Claire. A charming young woman who made me feel totally at ease leaving my expensive sex art in her hands and the hands of the gallery. She even gave me a coupon for $50.00 off! Skip forward a couple days and the job was done much faster than anticipated, right before Christmas too! I was 100% delighted and satisfied with the finished product. It came out perfect! The pages appear as though they are simply floating inside the frame. A+ professionalism and customer service. Next time I need something framed, I am going to Art on 5th!

We discovered Art on 5th because they donated a discount on their services to a silent auction supporting a community school.  Kudos to them for supporting the Austin community!  Once we got there to use our discount--the service was impeccable.  The staff spent as much time as we needed to feel comfortable with our frame selection and even took the time to walk us into the gallery and show us examples of different kinds of mating and fills.  Our art looks amazing!  I can't stop staring at it (and we haven't even hung it yet).  I'll use Art on 5th for any framing needs I have.

Other than the small parking spaces for my vehicle beast, I love this place. Always a huge selection of great and interesting art. Gotta love the Seuss collection too. Has a real museum like feel to the layout, and the art is actually something I could hang in my house. Don't miss the frame shop either. They have framing down to a science, you might say its an art form.

I had an old, damaged, vintage movie poster that I brought into Art on 5th. The staff there was extremely helpful in explaining my framing options. They really know their stuff, and not just mats, frames, etc... but they also know aesthetics and how to make the poster come out great. The people there know how to make your piece look its very best. Basically they know their stuff way better than a "craft store" or anywhere that does work other than framing. Yes, it was expensive to be done, but on the day I picked it up I instantly knew it was totally worth it. They really do amazing, extremely professional work. I highly recommend Art on 5th. They are the best and worth every penny.

I decided to enlighten my kids on a saturday morning and take them to the Dr. Seuss art exhibit.  They have never been to an exhibit and I thought it might be fun.  I think they had more fun critiquing the other art through the studio.  The Dr. Seuss exhibit was awesome, but there was so much more, beautiful art work.  I'm not a big one on going to art shows and all, but I would make an exception for this place.  It is wonderful and the staff didn't freak out when they saw my little ones walking in!

I found out about Art on 5th when it was featured on some TV show and decided to take a quick drop by today. I only went to see the Dr. Seuss collection, which made me have a deeper appreciation of Dr. Seuss's creative talent. His unorthodox taxidermy is especially cool. When I have the money, I will definitely buy some of his artwork to put in my future kids' room. Haha. While you're here, check out the Art of Jewelry next door which sells one-of-a-kind pieces from Austin jewelery makers.

The people who work here are nice and greeted me at the door and thanked me for coming when I left. Aside from that, I was left alone, and I liked that because I felt comfortable taking my time and not being pressured into buying anything.

I went by to check out the Dr. Seuss exhibit.  Amazing.  The staff was friendly and made sure I signed up for their mailing list to be invited to openings and other events.  I look forward to visiting again to see all the different local art they have throughout the year.

    I love ARTon5th!!!
Two weeks ago I was contacted by Art on 5th. They offered a $50 off coupon for custom framing via Facebook. Coincidentally, I was seeking a partnership to frame artwork. Upon asking when they were available to discuss services, their response was immediate. Even though they had a major event during the day into the weekend, they offered to schedule an appointment with me. I pushed it out a week and they kindly obliged. When I showed up for our meeting, two staff members were ready as I was greeted by the owner. He took me on a tour through the gallery and told me delightful stories about the exclusive exhibited artwork. He was friendly and very professional. Explained many examples of what I could do with canvas artwork. This was especially important to me as I now can offer framing with artwork to my clients. We looked at several possibilities for framing and they considered the best choice for my budget. Additionally, both staff members followed up with me via email with a thank you note. What a great experience! I feel very fortunate to have a connection to a team of people who displayed exceptional service and follow through. This is a fantastic establishment and I highly recommend them for all of your custom framing needs. Also, the artwork is so amazing in there,,,it can be a free date experience or a lunch hour escape! What are you waiting for?
    Thank you Arton5th!
