8 reviews for Art of Reflexology
I found these guys the other day as I was shopping at the Great Mall. Kinda hard to miss 'em since they're right in the middle of the corridor, lol.
I had an older gentleman as my massager, he was really good and knew what he was doing. My neck was kind of stiff from sleeping wrong, and he used some sort of a heating rub like a Ben Gay to warm it up. It didn't smell like BG but had the same effect. Anyway between the rub and his ministrations, the stiffness went away and I could turn my head from side to side without pain.
I recommend them to all who needs a massage while shopping at the Great Mall.
Went to the Great Mall for some after holiday shopping. Like another reviewer mentioned, two masseurs/masseuses were standing outside the Art of Reflexology. I was feeling in a bit of an indulgent mood and for fifteen dollars for a 15 minute foot massage (they do other types), I went for it. I decided after she started to massage my feet that maybe 20 minutes for $20 was warranted (with a $5 tip).
It was a deep tissue massage - for people who like a gentle touch, be sure to let them know. I like a deep massage - so, it was good for me. The experience was well described by another reviewer before me.
I was immediately seated in a comfortable leather chair and a neck warmer was placed behind my head and a warming bootie was placed on one foot while the other was being massaged. The masseuse cleaned each foot before and after the massage (to remove the oils used during the massage). The massage included the foot and the calf/shin up to the knee.
I didn't feel in any way obligated to talk to the masseuse and she wasn't particularly talkative. I felt relaxed throughout the massage.
It was very good and I would go back if I was shopping at the Great Mall, but I wouldn't go out of my way to the Great Mall just for the foot massage.
I finally we to this place today - - and it was the highlight of my day. Please remember this is a foot massage, not a pedicure - so it might be a little painful - but well worth it! As you will be refreshed after wards.
This is what they do:
1) Walked in and was seated in 1 of those leather chairs.
2) Got a warm sack to put behind my neck while I get my foot massage.
3) They clean your feet before and after the massage
4) While the masseuse works on 1 foot, the other foot gets a warm hacky sack slipper put on it.
5) They massage from knee cap to bottom on the feet. (I got a 30min and it was oooooooooooooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa wonderful
6) The massage ends with the masseuse bending (pushing) your legs to your chest, rotating your leg while they stand and cleaning your legs.
Definitely worth it for the price. If you are sensitive to pain, you can request the masseuse to not massage so hard - they don't mind...its less work for them. Just go for 15 min, if its your first time.
I always see this Quick Fix massage at the mall. So, last weekend I decided to go and try it out. I went inside the Art of Reflexology and waited for 5 minutes. One of them helped and I told him that I needed a back massage. He was very gentle while massaging my back. He was also nice to move my t-shirt down everytime he massages my lower back. I thought that was nice of him. It was a good massage for 15 minute quick fix and felt relaxed afterwards...thinking of going back but probably somewhere else.
This is a no-frills reflexology place, and I love it! You can pop in for a 15-, 30- or 60-minute foot massage while you're shopping at the Mall. They also have chair shoulder/neck massages out in a couple of locations by some of the other kiosks.
Anyhow, getting back to the foot massages. Oh, Holy Jesus, this is good shit! You never realize how hard you are on your feet until you get them tootsies worked on! It may feel a bit painful, 'weird' or tickle at first because your feet aren't used to being kneaded and having pressure on certain points, but ride it out. Trust me, it's all good! You feel relaxed afterwards, and your feet feel like gravy. It's definitely a treat that you should give yourself at least a few times a month, if you can afford to.
All of the reflexologists here are Asian, and English is definitely a second language, so keep that in mind. They are pleasant and do their best to understand you (I usually find myself pointing or using my hands a lot to communicate..hehe). It can be a bit difficult, so BE PATIENT, PEOPLE. Overall, they do a a great job on your feet, and at damn good prices! Walk your "dogs" in there quick, and you'll see what I mean.
My goodness the foot massage given to me by this husky chinese woman hurt like hell. Entering this place I envisioned a soothing foot rub similar to what I get at the nail salon during a pedi, but what I actually got was a good foot smacking/strangling. My coworker who carries a rubenesque frame however, loved her foot beating and calls me a wimp. I prefer a softer foot rub.
total spent here: $20 for 20 mins plus $5 tip
I went here the other day when I stopped by this mall (which isn't too great btw.. so you probably wouldn't really stop by here). There was some lady standing outside.. and decided to give it a try since it was so affordable. She tried to get us to do a one hour massage but we told her politely that we were in a hurry.
It really depends what person you get honestly. My sister got a guy who was not good at all (quite lazy in fact because he wasted time getting us tea). The lady I had was good.. but these people love to chat. So my sister had to feign sleeping. She actually thought they are better elsewhere.
It was okay but I don't think it took quite a load off my feet. I thought it was a foot massage and it ended up being everything-under-the-knee massage.
Another thing.. they require you give them a tip of $5-10 afterwards. I am not against tips.. but seriously, why would a tip ever be required right?
I remember coming into this place quite some time ago with my mom. As I'm always on my feet (literally- I'm in school full-time and on campus for about 3+ hours after classes, plus work two jobs), mom asked if I felt like getting one. I agreed, and I proceeded to enter a dimmly-lit shop with leather chairs. As I sat down, a masseuse slipped my feet into those herbal-tea scented thingies that you can warm up in the microwave. Man, it felt awesomeeeeee!! Next, my feet were slathered in Vaseline. Finally, the massage began. A little more agressive than I expected, the masseuse certainly applied plenty of pressure to my most overworked and pained areas of my feet (the balls of my feet would look so beaten and raw had I not invested shitloads of money on footcare!!), which included the balls of my feet and arch areas. At first, the experience kinda hurt- but after awhile, my feet began to tingle and feel like buttah. 9 out of 10 stars :)
