Sometimes tough experiences give businesses a chance to shine.

My initial attempts to work with them on my upcoming September wedding were disappointing (got bounced around a bit and lost in the shuffle).

People want to be valued, and as soon as Deborah discovered the situation, she stepped in (and up) and went out of her way to make it right.  I respect and appreciate this.

I am so thrilled to work with them.  For the space I am using (Kitchen Chicago), I think they are the only ones that have ever truly used the space fully and made it gorgeous.  Their room transformations are amazing!

    What Dreams May Come....

Deborah, I saved my 100th review for you!

Words cannot begin to express how happy I am that I found you and you took the time to transform The Nineteenth Century Club's second floor. Every time I remember walking into that room I am overcome with Love and when I saw you I really wanted to give you a big hug but I composed myself.

When I first started to plan my wedding I looked at lots of pictures of other people's wedding so I could have an idea of what type of decorations I wanted.  I came across some pictures of paper lanterns in the photos on Nineteenth Century Club's Facebook page and decided that I wanted those.  Some how I got connected to Teri Y. who referred me to Grand Stage Lighting where I spoke to Jason who referred me to Deborah. Funny how things take on a life of their own once you start something. I told her about the paper lantern idea and her and Sherry (her assistant) came up with a plan and emailed me about it.

I have to say Sherry was so patient with me and my questions.  She promptly returned my calls and emails.  Thank you Sherry!

I don't remember what the quote was but it was very reasonable.  I was on a tight budget and had a small amount to play with.  So small in fact, that when Deborah asked what my budget was I never really answered the question.

Anyway, after looking at more wedding pictures from the Nineteenth Century Club in Oak Park, IL where we had decided to get married I started noticing more things that might need to get done.  The stage definitely needed a clean and polished look.

I emailed Deborah and Sherry again and they sent me new ideas and this time it did not include the lanterns.  It included a structure that would mark the dance floor, this structure would be covered with ivory wrapping and have a Japanese fabric hanging over like a canopy stlye and upwashed with LED lights that were blue and green. She would also be covering the width and height of the stage with an ivory fabric upwashed with LED lights. It sounds amazing I thought. And although I was sad about giving up on the paper lanterns Deborah told me that she had been at Nineteenth Century before and was giving her recommendations based on that.

I figured Deborah is an artist and she knows what she is doing and I should just trust her and her company.  I also went on Facebook and found the page for Art of Imagination and analyzed every picture. These pictures are breath taking and Deborah works at venues like The Stan Mansion and Loft on Lake. I thought my event is little peanuts in her book.  I have to admit I was nervous about not getting the proper attention for this reason.

Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw when I walked in.  I still get overwhelmed with emotion when I remember walking into that room and seeing Deborah and her crew there.  They were a little late and were working so hard to get everything done.  Deborah gave me extra side lights and the hanging crystals which were not part of the deal but she did this to make up for being a little late.  What I paid I'm sure did not cover half of what she created.

I had walked into my very own fairy tale and Happy Ever After! The room was so gorgeous and magical it knocked the breath out of me.  Tim, my husband, cannot stop talking about how beautiful everything was.  People came up to me and asked who my wedding planner was.

I'm sure Deborah gets plenty of business but WOW does not begin to cover how happy you made me.  You and Sherry and everyone at Art Of Imagination are true artists.

Many people don't really consider lighting when they are planning for their wedding. I know I didn't really. Then we saw our space at night, the Private dining rooms at Spiaggia, and i knew it needed something. Deborah and Art of Imagination was recommended to me by my wedding coordinator, Anthony Navarro at Liven It Up Events, and I'm so happy I made the decision to work with her.

I never met Deborah, and only talked to her on the phone once. I told her what i was looking for for my day and what my budget was, and she put together a proposal that i thought was perfect. our wedding day came, and what i got was so much more. Deborah went above and beyond just to make sure that the event met her own expectations and looked perfect. from the purple glow that our dance floor had to the warm room wash with fall leaves, it literally made the space perfect, and it wouldn't have looked the same without her. I would highly recommend!

Deborah did a beautiful job on doing the backdrop and lighting for my wedding at Loft on Lake.  She has a great vision and understood what I needed to get the look I wanted for my wedding ceremony.  I loved her calm demeanor as well.  This really helps in the planning process.  I would recommend her work to anyone!

I own an entertainment company and have worked on countless projects with Deborah. She did an amazing job designing the grand opening for my event space Galleria Unico and can truly transform a room to make you think you are completely somewhere else. She is just an amazing person to work with and I give her the highest recommendation.

It was a pleasure working with Deborah for our wedding Memorial Day weekend at the Rookery Building.  She was friendly and professional.  The drapery and lighting created a wonderful ambiance for our reception and enhanced the beauty of the light court for our guests (the majority of whom were from out of town and first-timers to Chicago).  We received so many compliments on how beautiful and unique our reception venue was.

I highly recommend Art of Imagination...Deborah's work is elegant and amazing!

Deborah and the Art of Imagination team did an amazing job at our September wedding this year. We couldn't be happier, it was more than we expected! Our venue (The Stan Mansion in Chicago) has a lot of character as it is, but she added that wow factor with her fabric and lighting. All my guests kept saying the same thing.. "the place feels so magical". It was not over the top or gaudy but definitely kicked the space up a notch.

Deborah is so nice and easy to work with, has great ideas and is open to other suggestions, she understands "wedding budgets" and will work with you to stay within yours.

    Thank you Deborah!

Deborah and her team did an amazing job at our wedding at The Rookery.  The space itself is already really beautiful, but it is incredible how Art of Imagination's work completely transforms the space.  Their drapery and lighting really added some elegance to the space.  Deborah is also great to work with.  We booked her for the drapery service earlier on in our planning, but I contacted her later about adding some additional elements to our ceremony like an altar, aisle runner, etc.  Deborah was honest and told me that she didn't like the way an altar looked in that space.  I so appreciate her talking me out of it because she was absolutely right and instead of being salesy and getting us to pay for something else, she was really trying to make our wedding more beautiful.

Absolutely a 5 star business.  We got married at Loft on Lake a few weeks ago.  I planned the whole wedding in 2 months from Los Angeles so I never saw nor tasted anything before the day.
Loft on Lake on its own is gorgeous, but was well-served with some draping and lighting to distinguish between ceremony and reception.   Also, while I was having a non-denominational wedding, I did want a chuppah.  Deb and Art of Imagination came highly recommended.  And she had the most beautiful, natural chuppah (I had no idea that most of them looked like Taste of Chicago tents).  She and I exchanged a couple emails and spoke on the phone.  Deb's a lovely person and so generous.  She gave me her cell phone to use "at any time" in the days before the wedding.  When I finally met her at the space, she greeted me with a hug.  She and her team had made it look magical inside.*
*I say this as someone who didn't even want a wedding.  I can't recommend her enough.

    Art of Imagination...is exactly that.

Don't have the experience (or resources) to turn a caterpillar space into a butterfly event? Deborah with Art of Imagination has the vision, the drive and the experience to do just that...

I've worked with Deborah on two very large scale events, and a private non-profit event, and have seen her work at various trade shows, and vendor showcases. Always professional, detailed, and fun to work with.

Elegance and class is an understatement. She truly transforms spaces with light and fabric. She works often at Stan Mansion (a very cool venue, but in need of some strategic lighting and drapery), and many other beautiful spaces throughout Chicagoland. (I've heard she does great stuff at Loft on Lake, a new wedding venue, too!)

Her staff is friendly (polite!) and works hard, and Deborah is the point person for all events and sees the job through...I always felt at ease with the pace, and the finished product was always the talk of the party or show.

I highly recommend her to those in need of some creative inspiration with raw spaces, especially weddings, fundraisers, etc. It just adds that "wow factor" that you want guests to leave with.

I used Art of Imagination to decorate the ballroom at the Doubletree Hotel on 300 E. Ohio st.  where we were married on Oct. 18, 2008.

Deborah, the owner met with me to discuss my ideas on site and was able to give me a detailed quote on what she could do with the space.  I cut out  a picture from a magazine and she ran with it.  My ceremony room was so beautiful when I saw it for the first time, walking down the aisle.

She is also instrumental in designing the decorations for Stan Mansion in Logan Square - a site that we check out but decided not to have the wedding there.  We learned about Deborah at our site tour at the Stan.  Just take a look at the Stan Mansion website to see some of her work or look at my pictures (pics to be updated asap!!)

    Extremely pleased with her work!

When we initially contacted lighting & draping vendors, we said that we wanted three things: pin spotting, gobo, and a wall of fabric to separate the cocktail hour space. After speaking with a few vendors, we opted to work with Deborah. She met with us twice during the planning process. After the initial consultation, she convinced me to pin spot only half my centerpieces and to spend money on uplighting for the band.

The day of the wedding, the draping behind the band and the wall in the cocktail hour space were beautiful. It was absolutely stunning! Additionally, she included additional lighting to wash the walls at no additional cost. It was gorgeous!!

Instead of pinspotting the centerpieces, Deborah opted to pin spot the head table. She said that she made the decision based on her work as an artist. I wish she would have followed up with me after the wedding. When I saw my photos and realized that the centerpieces were not pinspotted, I assumed that I had paid for serviced not rendered. After an email and a phone call, Deborah explained that she made the decision to change the lighting design slightly. I feel that a change like this warrants a conversation with the customers.

Finally, we were disappointed with our gobo. Since our design was intricate, we paid for a steel cut design that cost double the normal price. I was ok with it because I wanted the design to appear very crisp. Instead, the gobo was extremely large and some of the letters were blocked by the chandeliers. After two visits to the space, I would have hoped that this problem would not have happened.

If I could double the amount of stars to give to Deborah, I would!  Her company's name is so fitting for her talent and vision.

I just got married at Prairie Production and as much as I loved the airiness and space, I wanted to add a little "umph" to it since it was NYE.

Deborah was so excited and enthusiastic brimming with ideas - it was so infectious!   She is truly a creative treasure!   Deborah and her staff were very accommodating for doing a few walkthroughs to discuss concepts and ideas and also worked in my budget.

As I was discussing decor with Deborah, my groom was having a blast with Deborah's staff - they are cool and they clearly know what they are doing!

The execution of everything wedding day was stunning and breathtaking!  I received so many compliments from our guests, many of which were accustomed to weddings at a hotel or banquet hall.

Each section of our space had a different "look"...and when we had to do a room flip, Deborah amazed me again with transforming the space in such a short period of time!

If you are planning an event and don't want to spend egregious amounts of cash with vendors like Frost or Ronsley (not like there is anything wrong with them, they were just WAYYYYY out of my price range) please please please consider Art of Imagination!

As Senior Catering and Event Consultant with a major Chicago catering company, I have used Art of Imagination on a regular basis and am always thrilled with the result. Deborah asks loads of questions with regard to the client's wishes and will work with the event planner and caterer to incorporate the needs of everyone into the design. Deborah's vision is incredible, taking the most raw of spaces and turning them into something spectacular as well as taking the already spectacular and adding new dimension with lighting and draping.

One of the things I find most refreshing is Deborah's unlimited creativity and intuitive manner. She can "read" her client and turn an idea into magic, all with great ease and fabulous pricing. I have worked with Deborah of Art of Imagination dozens of times and recommend her to all my clients. My clients are always thrilled with the quality of the work and well priced service. And, Deborah makes me look good as clients see I work with the best

WOW!!!!!!!!! We were blown away the minute we walked in to are room. We had a mural covered by Deborah and she also did up lighting for us as well. This room was so exquisite and it had a chic feel to it. This really made the room and we had so many complements about it. Everybody that walked threw the door was in awe with what they saw. Are room looked like a platinum wedding on a shoe string budget. God Bless Deborah and her crew!!!!

Deb was amazing!!! The draping she did for my wedding day was just perfect. IT COMPLETELY CREATED A PERFECT ROMANTIC SETTING at our church. I called her hoping to book with only a few weeks 'till the wedding, and Deb agreed. I had a small budget, and big dreams, and Deb made it possible. She even added some lights that were not in the contract. THANKS SO MUCH DEB!! You are just great. Mike and I are so grateful for your work.

Deborah is amazing!  We just had our wedding April 24th at Stan Mansion and Deborah went above and beyond.  Everything looked so wonderful.

The first time we met with Deborah was about  a year before the actual wedding day. I had pictures with me of what I envisioned.  Originally I wanted Chinese laterns over the dance floor but due to cost we ruled them out.  After the first time we met with her I kind of put the latern idea to the side since cost wise they weren't going to work for us.    A week before the wedding Deborah said she had some she would let us use for no additional cost. And she remembered that I wanted the lanterns completely on her own. It was so nice that Deborah remembered this.  She really cares and listens to what you want and have envisioned.  She did an amazing job on our wedding and we cannot rave about her enough!

Deborah is a PRO at what she does.  We had our wedding 2 weeks ago (10.22.2011) at Stan Mansion and could not have been happier with everything she did.  She really has great ideas and they end up looking even better than what you would expect.  Plus, she and our florist share office space (Cattleya, which is also amazing, and we love Juliet), so they worked together perfectly and stayed right within our budget.  People are still commenting on how beautiful they thought our wedding was, especially the lighting, flowers and draping:-).  We were elated with what they did!

Deborah is a bit of a magician and a pleasure to work with! She did the draping and decoration for our courtyard wedding at the Glessner House and the results were so lovely.  During our wedding planning we hit a bit of a financial snafu which had the potential to dramatically alter our vision.  However, after consulting with Deborah and letting her know that we had half the budget that we planned, well, the results were spectacular and actually better than our intial plan.  The courtyard is beautiful in and of itself, but the draping and the gorgeous arch that she created complete with crystal drops was glorious and adding just the right amount of romance and magic to the setting.  I highly reccommend working with Art of Imagination.  Their elegance and creativity are without measure and we are grateful.

My wife and I recently got married at Zhou B. Art Center in Bridgeport and needed someone to transform a very bare/stark venue into something warm and cozy.  Deborah not only made the place look spectacular, she was a joy to work with, had excellent ideas for lighting (and non-lighting items), and over-delivered on what was promised.  She worked within our budget and was professional throughout the process.  I can't tell you how happy my new wife and I are with the job that Deborah did.  I highly recommend her services.

Deborah and her team did a great job draping the Rookery for our wedding day, but I think that is par for the course with them.  We were even more impressed by the chuppah that Deborah designed and executed for us using a piece of antique lace that we provided.  It was understated but gorgeous, and fit into the scheme of the room perfectly.

The world is a service industry place.  Everyone promises you the world and 90% of the businesses fail miserably.

Not the case with Deborah and her Art of Imagination Company.  How refreshing to do business with a person who honors what she says.

The lighting and fabric work she did on Loft on Lake for our daughters wedding was just breathtaking!  The space is very cool, but left in Deborah's competent hand it was transformed into a beautiful, warm space that left us speechless when we walked in for the wedding ceremony.  We had no idea what to do with the space, but Deborah's creativeness had it all under control and she was just so lovely to talk with.  She was never in a hurry and has thee most pleasant disposition of anyone I've ever met.  She even did extra little things that she thought would be a nice touch...I mean, really, who does that!   Should you choose to do business with her, & I highly recommend that you do, you won't  be disappointed.  Thank you Deborah, for making our daughters wedding beautiful and memorable.

We were so happy we chose Deborah from Art of Imagination.  To start with, she was easy to get a hold of (so important for a wedding vendor).  She REALLY helped us work within a budget.  When we couldn't afford to do the entire room at the The Rookery she offered us an option for a complimentary upgrade which really added to the overall décor.    It's a fabulous building to start with, but the transformation was still amazing.   She turned a storefront lobby into a true event venue.   She went beyond the drapery and used lighting to create a soft glowy ambiance where the ceremony was taking place which looked so good in photos.   Also, she was able to do a fabric aisle runner (for not much more than the super cheap ones on ebay) that matched the drapery perfectly, with flower petals along the side.   She does so much more than I even realized at first, and was easy to work with.
