18 reviews for Art of Dental Care
One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
So I've never been to any other dentist in my life except for my dentist from back in Michigan, but I was way overdue for a cleaning and needed to see someone here in Chicago. I got a Groupon for The Art of Dental Care that offered an insane discount, so off I went.
"The Art" in their title is no joke - these people make dentistry seem like an art, and also like a relaxing lounge. There is art on the walls, the waiting room and office are decorated beautifully, and it provides an aura of relaxation from the get-go.
My hygenist was unbelievably friendly. Not over-the-top pesky, but just genuinely interested and considerate. She began by taking x-rays, which immediately showed up on a digital screen that was attached to my chair - within seconds I was looking at my own teeth. Then she took pictures with a small camera attached to a wand - again, in a mere moment I was looking at my very back teeth that I can't normally see. Instead of just telling me what was going on, she could really show me. I ended up having two very small cavities, and I could *see* them. I could see everything, and it made me feel much more involved in the process and motivated to take even better care of my teeth.
The dentist himself was extremely friendly and very gentle. His chair-side manner was really perfect. I'm not scared of dentists, but I can imagine that somebody who is would be very comfortable around this man. He was clear in his explanations, and both he and the hygenist were very complimentary of my teeth, which I appreciated. haha.
The hygenist did a thorough cleaning, it took longer than any I've had before, but I mean - maybe that's a good thing. I want it to be done perfectly. My gums were not sore or anything after the cleaning. She then went through a "treatment plan" with me for future work. I don't have insurance, but the prices on their fillings seem comparable to other dentists in the city. Even if it is a little pricey, I feel safe and comfortable in their hands, so I have no problem returning here to actually get my fillings. Also - I just love that they did a Groupon at all, I saved like 75% on my initial appointment - a HUGE deal since I don't have insurance, and they were a lot nicer than they needed to be considering I was paying them only like $59 for this appointment.
I am almost looking FORWARD to coming back for more work - they are that professional, gentle, and friendly.
All around great experience. Came in for a teeth cleaning with a Groupon deal they offered and got a teeth cleaning and dental check-up as well as X-rays.
Everyone in the office is very professional, hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth.
When I explained that I would probably have any neccesary work done at a dentist my mom worked for in San Diego they were very accomodating, offering to send her the x-rays and dental. This spoke to me that they're all about offering a good dental experience and professional service as opposed to just making profit.
Oh and all the women that work in the office are HOT!
I had a a very great experience with the whole staff and will be back for more!
I can't give any business that involves using power tools on my mouth 5 stars, but dentist wise, this place is as good as it gets. I haven't really dealt with the Dr. yet aside form a quick meeting, but I've seen the hygenist a few times for cleanings and she's outstanding (Jenny). Very thorough work and they have these TV screens that show you exactly what they're explaining. No problems with answering any questions, comfortable setting, and all the staff are obviously very knowledgeable about the work they do.
Only real downside is that my insurance doesn't cover right away so I have to pay up front, but they submit for me, so no biggie. Having not been to the dentist in years, and seeing how my mouth looks and feels now, as opposed to a year or two ago, it's well worth it.
I'm not going to say I *like* going here, because I don't - it's the dentist - and going to the dentist sucks. But they're top shelf as far as dentists go. I may change my review after the root canal I need to get done :) (just kidding - well, about the changing of review - I really do need a root canal) ... but for now, highly recommend.
I was a little too nice last time so time to re-do...
Everyone who worked here was very nice and the office was great, however, the doctor recommended that I needed about 10 fillings. 10 fillings? I've only had to have 1 in my entire life. And they were out of network (which I didn't ask about ahead of time, my fault), so ridiculously expensive. I went to my old dentist back in MI a month later and ended up needing 1 filling. 1 versus 10. go figure.
I too had a very similar experience as Ashley. My teeth are still sore, and i find difficulty chewing. Note that its been months since my visit and my mouth is still sore. I did go back for adjustments with no success. The person that referred me to this place also shared similar bad experiences.
Per other reviewers, the people there are quite friendly and act professionally, but that doesn't make up for lack of experience or skill. I had an assistant that made me feel like I was a patient in training. She was pulling on my cheek so hard, it was really painful despite all the novacaine. I wonder if she thought i couldn't feel her pulling my cheek as hard as she was. i actually heard the dentist say, "if you don't pull so hard, it will be easier for him to open his mouth..."
And speaking of Novocaine, they use this on me for teeth cleaning as well...I've never in my life had to have novocaine for teeth cleaning.
Lastly, they are quite expensive and based on my experience, definitely not worth the extra cost. By the time they were completely finished, I ended paying a lot for cleaning and a a couple of "small" cavities.
Best dentist in town. Level of care is exceptional and office is state of the art.
Never thought I would say this, but i love going to the dentist.
Everyone at the Art of Dental care is friendly, knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy!! Dr. P is very careful, gentle and precise. Jenny, the hygenist, is very knowledgeable and thorough and immediately put me at ease. The assistants, Kelly and Leah, are very friendly and approachable, and helped make my whole dental experience relaxed. This is a great staff providing great care!
The staff here is very helpful and personable, as well as informative. I appreciated how thorough they were with everything. It was a scary experience for me because it was my first dental visit in a long time and, what do you know, it turns out that when you don't go for cleanings, it means trouble. I learned the hard way! But I was lucky to have picked such a nice office. They will take care of you!
Highly professional group from the greeting to the dental service. Set up your appointment today. High tech step by step pics if you want them.
Dr. Paguio's energy is very calming, which is essential to a scaredy-cat like myself. He is patient and understanding, and takes his time to make sure that you are comfortable. This goes for all of the staff, actually, who are uniformly friendly, capable, and warm. The office is clean, modern, and comfortable, and has all the best magazines for pre-treatment reading. Best of all: no pain. I am very happy to have found The Art of Dental Care. Yay.
Dr. Paguio is great! He's funny, personable and chatty. He'll give it to ya straight as to what you need and don't. He's got all the latest high tech stuff too! The best part is he'll talk to you about all the latest movies, music, retaurants and things going on in the neighborhood. Check him out if you're in need of a dentist!
Nice interior, friendly and kind people, excellent service. Through the high-tech digital x-rays, I was able to really understand the status of my teeth. The artwork / paintings in their office are exceptionally intriguing.
Just amazing...!
I work for Dr Paguio. I am his hygienist, Jennifer. Now, this may seem strange or unfair for me to post a review, but let me explain. You see, Dr Paguio is also my dentist. I have been a hygienist for nine years, and in those years I have worked with many different dentists in the Chicago area. Contrary to popular belief, my teeth are not perfect and I do have some fillings which desperately needed to be replaced. The problem was that I did not trust anyone to do the work. I am a perfectionist by nature, and I needed to be sure that my dental work would be done right. After working with Dr Paguio for a short time, I felt confident that I could trust him. He has begun the process of replacing my fillings, and they look beautiful. They feel great, and of course there was no pain. An added bonus, the office is just beautiful... when I first walked in for my interview I knew instantly that this is where I wanted to work--I even gave notice at my previous office before Dr. Paguio even offered me the job! And he really put me through the ringer with so many interviews that I lost count! I didn't mind though, because I knew that this meant he really cared about who took care of his patients. So there you have it... Dr Paguio is the kind of dentist that even a perfectionist dental hygienist like me can be happy with both as an employee and as a patient!
Once upon a time I had horrible teeth, but thanks to Dr. Paguio and staff I now get compliments on my smile! My experience there was a great one. I was nervous walking in but he made me very comfortable. He was thorough in explaining to me the treatment I needed and the process for making sure I'd have nice teeth into my old age! Also, his staff was nice enough to explain my insurance benefits and the cost of treatment. Now, I have a nice smile and a great dentist!
this dentist and his staff are fantastic. dr. paguio is a perfectionist. i am a bit of a scaredy when it comes to the dentist, but somehow they manage to make the experience not only tolerable, but nice. i feel my choppers are in good hands here. i highly recommend the art of dental care.
Dr. Paguio has been nothing but courteous and gentle with me, despite my nearly paralyzing phobia of all doctors. His staff is professional and caring, and the office is one of the more comfortable that I've been in. Definitely appreciate their concern for both my teeth and my wallet!
I never write reviews, but felt I had to after such a great experience at a dentist's office. I can't say enough about the staff and Dr. Paguio and their level of expertise and friendliness. The first appointment I had, I missed (forgot the time) and they were so nice to call me and say 'no problem, it happens all the time, let us rebook you" and they got me in the same day! Their office is beautiful, more like a living room than a Dentist Office. And they definitely go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. I've never waited more than 1 minute to be seen, and after only having been there once, everyone there remembered me and specific aspects of our previous conversations, and my dental health. They have state-of-the-art equipment and Dr. Paguio always takes extra time explaining in detail what needs to be done. They are always great to tell you upfront what the cost is going to be so there are no surprises. On top of all that, I had to have my wisdom teeth removed, and the dental assistant actually came to the oral surgeon's office on the day of my surgery just to make sure I was okay. This is by far the best dentist experience I have ever had and I definitely recommend them!
