the Art Barn is awesome- their framing department is helpful & timely, unlike a certain chain craft store.
If you want something done right, I guess you have to pay the premium.
I would NOT trust some cheap-ass place with family heirlooms- would you? -

I've experienced far better prices with the same quality of materials at other custom framers. Not sure how "great" of a job they could do when the price tag was $580+ to frame a poster size of 24 x 36. Granted I wanted matting and a nice frame, I've received a far lesser price at other custom framers with similar materials used (UV protected glass, Crescent Matte ,etc.).
I'm shocked to hear some of the other reviewers commenting on the service. Although the lady that assisted me was really sweet and helpful (probably why I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1), the store was completely undermanned and I had to frequently wait in between as other customers came in and were being assisted. In fact, another customer while I was there waited for quite a bit and decided to be real frank, sternly asking another representative for help.
Overall, the experience was pretty bad. I called the day after and asked if they could give me the matte color's item number for me to order myself and the lady said they couldn't disclose that information, that "EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS AT THE STORE," speciously emphasizing that part. She also had the audacity to ask, "Yeah, you were the one here for 2-3 hours, right?" Yes, moron, like that was my choice and pleasure of standing around for that long in your store. Ironically, it was the same lady who received the blunt respect from the customer the previous day. HAH!
Do not waste your time coming here. -

I guessed that these people knew their stuff when I had a 20 minute long consultation with one of the framing people about which shade of white would be the best for a mat for a poster size photo.
I wondered why it was going to cost $60+ for matting alone (framing here is much, much more), but took the risk and holy crap did they do a good job. The price included some process to flatten out and protect the print, and an impeccable mat in the perfect shade of, yes, white.
This is a cool place, with framed artwork from local and regional artists, art supplies, interesting gifts, cards, etc. I got my dad a beautiful hand blown and painted ornament on sale at a fraction of the original price, with a sunset over the Hudson River. A lot of stuff is pricey, but local boutiques like this should definitely be supported to prevent the chainification of the river towns. When I can afford it, I'll replace my $25 frame with a frame from here.Listed in: Ossining & Environs

The People At Art Barn are magnificant. They take thier time to make sure that you have the perfect product to your liking and budget. They also help with restoration of old photos if asked.

Fantastic staff, creative and patient. Able to frame most anything, flat, 3D, whatever. Expensive but worth it (and they send out sale coupons from time to time).
