The best pastrami shop in So Cal! I've tried several and so far this is the best! Everytime I'm driving through L.A I make it a point to come here even if its 20 minutes out of my way and I come hungry cuz that is a BIG MOFO pastrami sandwich!

Portions of everything are huge. If you don't believe me try the pastrami. I usually pickup for me and my gf and the drive through always moves fast. We get 2 cheese burgers and chile cheese fries. More than enough food for 2 people. Usually plenty left over while we sit on the couch with a food coma.
I just wish they would slice their tomatoes thinner instead of putting 2 slices which re 1/2" thick each.
Fav items there are...pastrami, chile cheese fries, steak sandwich and fried zucchini -

Don't be like me... Don't judge a book by it's cover! From the outside, it looks a tad questionable; However, it's pretty darn clean inside.
I ordered the fish sandwich special. Pretty tasty. A lot of fries included with unlimited refills on the drink.
Good stuff, would come back. -

One weekend I randomly decided to take a spontaneous trip to SoCal and met up with a friend in LA for lunch and she was soooooo excited about this place. She said it had the best pastrami ever, and that she's been going there since she was a kid. Honestly, I never really had pastrami, dont get me wrong, I'd have some here and there. Didn't think much of it, but boy this was a trip. My boyfriend ordered a pastrami sandwich and it was HUGE!!!!!! PACKED, I SAY! He had a hard time deciding on how he was going to attempt to even eat it. Needless to say, he only finished half of it and the rest was history. Jk. we just had to save it for later.
All in all, it was a killer deal for the sandwich and we had a burger too. I took off the star for the burger because it just made me think of how inferior it was to the pastrami sandwich, since I got stuck with that order, haha. Oh, and did I mention?! They have free pickled peppers and carrots, and refills! SCORE! -

I have been a loyal customer for 30 years ever since High School. Today I ordered my usual Pastrami Quesodilla to go. When I got home I was shocked at the mess I found when I unwrapped it. The pastrami was little burnt greasy scraps soaking thru the tortilla on a bed of unmelted cheese. I took a few bites and thru the rest away. Come on guys! YOU CAN DO BETTER!!!

We're driving down Whittier Blvd on the way to our usual lunch spot, when we pass Arry's. The work BFF turns to me and says, "It's crowded and there is smoke billowing from this building. We MUST stop." Apparently these are two signs the place is good, so I give in easily. I'm curious too.
Verdict? I'm so glad we stopped. Now we have a new "food so bad it's good" spot to add to our lunch rotation.
Our order: fried egg sandwich, onion rings and chocolate malt, the hamburger special with fries and Orange Bang - all YUM!
TIPS:
*We got there around 1145 for lunch. By 1215 it was packed. Go early to beat the lunch rush.
*It's not just a burger joint. You'll find breakfast served all day and Mexican food too.
*The onion rings order is HUGE. I suggest you share! I posted a pic of my order. See for yourself :) -

SUPER fast service, good fast food, large portions.
Egg sandwich (scrambled egg, lettuce, tomato) is pretty good for like $3.75. Quesadilla is made with good old processed cheese (drool).
They remodeled their eating area a while back so nicer chairs and booths now. -

Definitely one of my favorite burger joints. I order the junior burger, onion rings and a drink. The burger has a thin patty and unlike most junior burgers from other places, this one comes with a sesame bun. The perfect junior burger. The onion rings must be shared. They give you a MASSIVE amount. My fiance and I don't even finish half of the order but they are my favorite. The best onion rings.
The workers are nice and the place is clean AND air conditioned. The food is affordable. It's places like these that make living in the ghetto enjoyable. -

I heard all these rants and raves about Arry's and decided to give it a try. It was fairly crowded and filled with a mix of homies and their hynas and people who work in the area. I pride myself on being a fairly healthy eater so I had an issue finding something that was not going to clog my arteries. I finally decided on a chicken sandwich and my friend had a club sandwich plus fries. The chicken was kind of rough and dry so I can't say that I will ever order it again. The fries were really good and my friend liked the club sandwich. Yes, the portions are big and the service is quick. This place is just alright to me but I prefer the Habit for chicken sandwiches.

Whoa, just ate here on lunch on a random yelp search: "Food, $"
Ordered the Pastrami Quesadilla recomended by some of the yelp reviews. $7.30 with tax.
Less than 5 minutes after I order , just enough time for me to grab a cup of water and salsa, the guy yells out "pastrami quesadilla."
I walk up and my eyes bulge as I stare at this monstrosity on a platter. It's cut in half, which makes the thing look like two huge pastrami sandwiches on a tray. I asked him, "That's the Pastrami Quesadilla?!" The guy laughs and says "Yup, it's for you."
I sit down, focus myself start the task of consuming this beast of pastrami, salsa, guacomole, & cheese in a grilled tortilla. The pastrami is great, not too salty, and extremely juicy. Throw some green salsa on it to give it a little kick and it all just blends so well. Halfway through the first half I have guacomole dangling off my nose and pastrami juice dripping off my wrists. By the time I'm finished with the first half I look like someone blew up a quessadilla bomb in front of me, or I'm trying to perfectly mimic the table mannerisms of me when I was a 1st grader. Got the smile on to tie it all together.
I'm stuffed, and I've still got the 2nd half left! It taunts me, as if it say "That all you got small fry?" The food coma that would inevitably result from attempting to finish the monster would send me into a nap and jeapordize my day job, so I sadly pack up my pride and grab a to-go box. It's a standard size to go box that you'd get from any burger/diner, and the half is so big it fills up the entire box! I don't even have room for salsa inside! So if you ordered this thing to-go, would they give it to you in 2 to go boxes?
(5/5) because it's bomb diggity and huge portions. -

This place is surprisingly really clean. Even the restroom is really clean! Service is also quick and attentive. They do tend to rush you a little so gotta make sure you know what you want. Or be really quick to decide I guess.
So my friend and I decide to get a pastrami sandwich and a side of chili cheese fries. I swear I we got the food in less than five minutes. The sandwich itself was pretty massive as well. A lot of pastrami! Very good and wasn't dry either. I couldn't believe that I finished the whole thing! And I was still munching away on those chili cheese fries! Haha, I guess I was just hungry. The chili cheese fries were very good as well. One of the better chili cheese fries I've had. It seemed so fresh. I don't know what they do different from other places but it just looked and tasted fresh.
I will definitely be going back to get my pastrami and chili cheese fries fix! -

This place is goooooood! Great portions, my personal favorite is the pastrami. If you prefer no bread, they use flour tortilla. Don't judge it until you try it. You'll become a believer.

I love corned beef/pastrami. I am a sucker for a place with raving reviews, and l stumbed across this gem and figured why not?
I ordered the pastrami sandwich combo (with fries and a md. diet coke). It came to a little over $9.
I went in the drive~thru and it literally only took about 3 minutes from ordering to leaving! Literally. The bag was pretty heavy (but l must say the medium seemed like a child size drink) and smelled like ??? Amazing. I was starving so l started munching on the fries. They had the right amount of crunch, but seriously lacked flavor. I started wondering about the sandwich, found myself a little worried. But, no, it's PASTRAMI! It's gotta rock, right?
And yes it did. I didn't, however, eat it right away. I got too full of the fries : (
I did flavor them(the fries) with my famous ketchup/mustard mixture : )
The sandwich was reheated and eaten hours later. The sandwich was really good. It was verrry peppery, though. It didn't have a funky taste, and it wasn't too salty. I will have to go back and try it fresh (looking forward to it, too) -

Came here for brunch with my good friend. We split the super pastrami quesadilla. My friend wasn't joking when he said it was monster sized and for only $6?!
I'll definitely come back here when after a gym workout and totally starving. Then, I think I can finish it? LOL -

If you're ever having a bad day, and you contemplate your suicide, I say you come here and take a gamble on a heart attack.
The portions are enormous! You can probably feed an entire family with one combo meal! Everything is extra greasy, making it that much more disgustingly delicious.
The burger has the grill taste to it, and it's loaded with tomato, lettuce, pickles, and god knows what else. The chili cheese fries are packed with mountains of cheese, and they still taste amazing when cold. The carne asada burrito is http://bomb.com! Put a little ranch on your bite and boom, you're in heaven!
The fries are huge and super good. They're rarely soggy. And if you like eating your fountain drink's ice then this place has the greatest tasting and textured ice (i know you folks out there eat ice).
The food is never consistent, but it's what makes Arry's...Arry's
Come here for your monthly dosage of grease. -

Every city has a go to burger joint and this is montebellos. Used to come here years ago and I was passing by decided to drop in.
Inside is remodeled. Not bad to dine in. Burger was tasty. Fries were the same as everywhere else. For $6. Got a cheeseburger meal. -
Review from Vince E.
Arrys is a childhood favorite. Something you grow up on and never forget. This place has the biggest pastramis bigger than your head. The workers stick their tongs in a vat, pull up a wad of meat, stuff it in between two breads. Period.
The super quesadilla is amazing, a quesadilla with choice of meat (get the pastrami), and filled with lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, salsa, the kitchen sink. It's big enough for two. Finish it yourself if you dare.
Too bad prices have tended to go up with the times but still good food for the money. Come on a Sunday and you'll even see lots of folks in church clothes coming here. Certainly a family establishment -
Review from Roland L.
I used to frequent this place...the food is decent, but I'd steer clear from the dining area. Take your food to go!
They serve you a ton of food. I used to order the pastrami, but its very fatty cuts of pastrami and pretty greasy. Speaking of fatty...try ordering a Double cheeseburger with bacon, fried egg and avocado! -

Just your generic-greasy burger spot that locals will tell you is God's gift to the Earth but is really nothing special.
The only thing that i would go here for is the thousand island sauce (which tells you a lot when thats all that is memorable)
Plus the workers really must be snorting some cocaine before they start thier shifts because they seem jittery and ready to pounce on anything that moves.
As soon as you walk in they are yelling at you to take your order. its very uncomfortable! you don't even get a chance to look at the menu.
Not very fresh but if you want something cheap and greasy and cant make it anywhere else i guess this place is good for you.
Good thousand island sauce though. -

You want the truth?
Ok, so I USED to LOVE this place, they had the best everything on the menu around.
So what happened?
I don't know!
Their Burgers are Burnt, nasty, flavorless, and simply just below average.
Their avocado is always Old.
Their Pastrami is still good, just ask for the bread on the side Cuz by the time you get home, it will be so soggy from all the oil that it falls apart.
They have always been very generous with they're portions. Never a complaint about that. Staff very hard working and motivated.kind and friendly. My knock on this place is not on service, but on the Food. Went from my favorite to I drive by and I feel like taking a crap. -

First time eating here, and I fell in love. I live for the local burger spots. Their food seems to be a bit more sloppy, a bit more greasy, but a lot better tasting.
I walked in today and it was a mad house. Workers behind the counter were running all over the place, sweating up a storm. It made for a short wait which was awesome.
Food was great. Definitely coming back if I'm in the area. -

Whittier, CA
Growing up in Montebello, this has always been my childhood favorite fast food. I use to love it when my parents would take me there, and I love it even more now. Although its changed locations from 10 years ago, it's in a even more convenient, bigger location.
First - the employees are extremely fast and generous. Before you know it, your order is taken and the food is ready. Amazing.
Second - I cant get enough of the pastrami sandwich. It's one of those things, where I never want to change it up - cause I know I will regret it if I don't get the pastrami.
Third - the meals are very large! Order the pastrami and two people will barely finish it. -

Recommended by a local, Arry's proved to be an inexpensive place to grab a tasty burger loaded with veggies and a mound of fries for $7. Had the avocado burger which was wonderful. Very fast walk up service at midday.

Huge quesadillas!! The good thing was that the mile long line moved pretty quickly. The bad thing, the food took a while to get to us. The portions are huge. The fries were amazing. I like 'em crispy at the ends and soft in the middle. I think three of us took turns at the quesadilla. Oh man! We couldn't finish it. And no, it wasn't 3 girls. It was me and 2 big dudes. This is an awesome lil jewel. I've always used cash here but some people have told me, lately, that they also take card. I'm not sure about that one. There is something extra rich and meaty about their chili. Sometimes I ask for a burrito without the salsa and instead, I add chili. Nom nom nom!! This is one of those spots that won't ever go out of business because of the continued support from the Montebello Intermediate students who come here after school. The folks who work here are always so sweet and friendly. They take your order pretty quickly and get it to you just as it comes down the line. I think the bill for three of us was something like $15. We shared a huge quesadilla, fries, and each had a drink. What a deal!! That's only $5 per person. I don't think you can beat that. . . and be stuffed afterwards. "cause let's face it, you can go to Mc D's and feed three people for $3 each, but you won't leave satisfied, happy, or full. Awesome.

I came back here the other day (remember, I'm on the best burger hunt around these parts), and I was greatly disappointed. I had fond memories of this place and really loving it.
First when I walked into the place the guy was asking me what I wanted before I even got to the counter (slow down, cowboy!). I hastily ordered a cheeseburger and fries, and the food was served to me before they could finish swiping my credit card.
I sat in a booth near the counter and all I could hear was the yelling of orders back and forth to the cooks, and the two guys up front asking everyone what they wanted as soon as the door ordered.
The rush of the entire place made me finish my food in record time. I was getting anxiety ridden, like I had to be out of there quickly. All I kept thinking about was how if "Kitchen Nightmares" went there they'd probably ask the guys why they're shouting or wall off the kitchen so the customers don't have to hear so much of it.
In the end though, I guess I'd rather have an eager server and I suppose the owner keeps his store on its toes so no one's slacking off.
So why the two stars? The burger wasn't that good. It lacked flavor (when I tried the meat by itself) and was smothered in way too much thousand island.
And the fries? Nothing like I remembered them, even when I added on the fry seasoning.
Sadly, this is NOT the best burger in the area.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Montebello, CA
Ahhh Arry's....a Montebello institution.
Yes, yes there are better burgers and better food in general in a lot of other places...ya, ya, ya...but if you were born and raised in Montebello it's almost impossible not to love this place. The smell of burgers and fries wafts through your window as you drive past on Whittier Blvd and you can't help but reminisce! Arrys was started by a Greek man/family and my dad knew the owner back in the day. I think it's still owned by a Greek man but a different one? Not sure. So, ya this is your typical Greek-owned burger joint!
Eating here has always been an event for me and my family. It's not an everyday or even an every week thing...unless you want a coronary? But I did eat there twice in one weekend once... =x I'm not proud but it was so good...
Once we challenged my cousin to a pseudo "man v. food"... He took on the SPECIAL QUESADILLA.... what a beast! Needless to say FOOD won that day. And the quesadilla is indeed delicious in all its greasy glory....but for a family of four. No joke.
They do offer protein style options, and they can whip you up a mean veggie sandwich with Avocado on rye...and have a great filling chicken salad...although I wouldn't call the salad health food exactly...haha...but it's not about that here!
I don't recommend the burritos, not quite their forte...just stick with a cheeseburger special with seasoned fries or chili cheese fries if nothing else... trust me you'll be content.
I dooooo have to point out though that the quality has faltered a bit from what I remember....Gotta give it a 4 instead of a 5 which is what I would have given it about 10 years ago... Can't bear to give it a 3 =( -
Review from Abraham B.
Long Beach, CA
Hands down the illest burger spot in my area.
My memories of Arry's go back to when I was a heft lil' guy ordering chili cheese fries and a grilled cheese sandwich that I would share with my Pops. Fast forward to my early teen years, and Pops and I used to order double cheeseburger combos and post in the Quiet Cannon parking lot. It was there that I was schooled on the nutty ways of the "party goers" as Pops and I ate our burgers and fries and watched a dude put a girl in headlock, saw a guy get his foot run over, and watch 7 dudes in an Accord with rims try their luck at parking lot pimping..all in one night. Fond memories indeed..
Now that I have my own money and a constantly voracious appetite, I always make it a point of picking up one of the following, depending on my mood:
-breakfast burrito: aka Breakfast Football. This thing is humongous, and they serve it anytime of the day, which is great news if you love potatoes, eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, and cheese as much as I do
-chili cheese fries: if it's cold outside or if I feel like posting at home and watchin flicks, best believe I'll be picking up an order of these. Huge, mad flavorful, and their fries are the big and chunky kind (unlike the skinny fast food chain fries)
-double cheeseburger special: 'cause nothing says "good job on the workout regimen, buddy" better than two meat patties, bread, cheese, and a huge order of fries.
-pastrami: hands down the MOST FLAVORFUL PASTRAMI IN THE CITY. Also, the thing's fucking huge, so if you need a sandwich to put you in freeze-frame on your couch, this is the ticket. When I was in high school, I would collect $5 from my boys the day before and would make a run in the morning to pick up about 10 pastrami sandwiches and bring them with me to school for my crew. These sandwiches were that damn good. I was leaving a half hour early for SCHOOL to cop this pastrami.
SECRET: Even though they don't have an In-N-Out-style secret menu, if you order an order of fries and ask for it in a bag, they'll give you your order of fries in a normal little white paper baggie. And if you ask for "a little extra," they'll grab another scoop of fries from the fry tray and pour it in your bag on top of your already-huge order of fries.
Absolute bliss. -

Monterey Park, CA
They make a pretty mean burger at this place and it's the real deal. You know with pickles, onions, slab of charred beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and you have to squish it a bit so it will fit in your mouth. Whittier blvd has a ton of burger joints but you'll always see the cooking smoke pouring out of the chimney at lunchtime. It's the busiest burger joint on the street as their burgers are a handful. Forget that $6 burger place, get the real deal here. Plus you can get chili fries, blts, hot dogs, salads, and probably the kitchen sink if you asked.
Their pastrami has a loyal following and it's huge, with like twice the meat compared to the Hat. But I didn't like the flavor combined with the thicker slices. It tasted sort of like school pastrami but a ton of it. Actually the pastrami had a weird flavor to it. So, it's a 3 star for pastrami and 4 star for hamburgers.
Overall, it's a nice local burger joint for the area so that's the reason I drive past several other places to make it to Arry's. Oh yeah, they have lightning fast service that makes any other 'fast' food joints 'slow' food in comparison.Listed in: Best and Worst Pastrami's in…

It was Tax Day and we were on a mission to file but our contacts are in LA. From San Diego to Montebello and back home to San Diego, I made it clear our rest stop would have to be a burger stop.
My wife knows the area but was amazed of somethings changing, for the better in this part of town. We saw the old-school faded color neon sign up front and rolled right into the ample parking lot.
This place has a late 50-60's architected era structure to it. Kinda like Happy Days, but a smaller version with Fonze being more like Shorty from the hood. The only thing modern walking in here is the ATM machine down to the left where I imagine the jukebox used to be.
The classic menu is nothing to get confused about. From Breakfast left, to Lunch and Plate Specials all the way in 4-5 panels. The prices are decent, but you are paying for decent portions of food. Mexican and American food served here, intertwined.
My wife went for the bacon burger while I opted for the pastrami special. Man, oh man...those plates are freaken huge and worth the coin. If you are reading at this part, do yourself a favor and browse through the photos.
Need I say more?

I'm a lifelong fan of this classic burger joint. We were close friends with the previous owners who left for Greece awhile back; they sold it before leaving, which was sad since it lost some its small town charm. They seriously knew everyone in Montebello. Ahh, memories of 90s Montebello.
Been back and can honestly say the food is still top notch. The special quesadilla is monstrous; good luck finishing half! The pastrami sandwich is ridiculous; my grandma once order one and made about 10 smaller sandwiches for my cousins, just like Jesus with the fishes! The burgers still have their signature seasoning salt, and you can ask to borrow it to salt the fries. My mom likes to get the club sandwich, and I love to take some since it's also enormous. The onion rings are breaded just enough to still taste the sweet onions and maintain a crunch. I hear the carne asada burrito is comparable to any taco truck. -

Man, oh man...where to start!?!? Growing up in near-by East L.A., and going to High School at MHS, I've eaten Arry's ever since I can remember. Here's just a "taste" of the good stuff here:
Chili-cheese fries - HUGE portions, awesome tasting chili, and no skimping on the shredded cheddar cheese on top! Get this with onions if you desire. THE BEST ANYWHERE! Also try their fried zucchini and fried mushrooms. AWESOME!!
Pastrami sandwiches - A french roll with a TON of pastrami packed into this baby. A little wet, sometimes messy, but the best in the west.
Hard tacos - Some of the biggest, FATTY tacos you'll ever see/eat. Filled with ground beef, lettuce, cheese, tomatos and sauce. YUM!
Patty melts - Toasted to perfection every time with lots of cheese and grilled onions to boot. BIG ol' beef patty, too.
I could go on for miles and miles....onion rings, hamburgers, colossal burgers, hot dogs.....even their breakfasts are big and the omelets are great!
Needless to say, I'm no "Skinny Minnie", and I have Arry's to thank for this. Living in Texas now, I appreciate the good food I left behind in Montebello all the more. I look forward to eating here time and time again as I visit SoCal in the future... -

We have a Pastrami fight at work.
One person said Arrys was best and brought some into work.
Another said Johnnies was best and brought that into work.
We even had Bay Cities Deli or something....
My vote went for Arrys. Pastrami was great...and it was only like $6 for the sandwich... I heard I need to try their Chili Cheese Fries... Yum! -

I've given Arry's sooo many chances and I just can't seem to grasp why people think they have the best pastrami and chili cheese fries.
The pastrami meat itself to me is very rubbery and has a strange taste to it. I just can't bring myself to eat more than a couple of bites.
Although it boasts more in size than The Hat's pastrami I'd still eat the Hat any day.
Oh and the chili fries are mediocre too. -

A staple of my family's weekend outings, now I come either in the Chrysler or the '65 Riviera low-low. Ah yes, the pastrami special is practically tattooed to my forearm when in the drive-thru but still they ask "whattayawantbuddy?" As mentioned in other reviews the chili cheese fries (EXTRA CHEESE) and those juicy burgers help give the ol' heart-pausing bod a nice shot of cholesterol, haha! Oh and don't forget those little yellow chiles, they go with everything!
