This the best vet clinic and hospital I have ever been to.  Dr's Stallings, Schwab, Mcgrane and Johnson are better than the best.  The love, compassion and knowledge that these doctors have exceed every expectation every single time we walk in there.  We have been patients for the past 7 years, and everyone including all the wonderful staff go out of their way every single time to give the best service and comforts.  I would give 10 stars if that was a possibility.

We have had only good experiences with the Vets at Arroyo. Dr. Stallings is superb at listening at and giving all options. Keeping in mind that vets want to save animals, and that they are medical professionals who like to use all the tools and toys at their disposal, they will recommend lots of tests. I have declined many, and they have never made me feel bad about that. When they arrived at our home to euthanize our old dog,he suddenly rallied, and they were happy to work with us to adjust meds. He ended up living comfortably another 2 months and dying on his own.  When we lost another dog unexpectedly the same week, they were extremely compassionate and caring.
I have been to many vets, and have worked for some also, and I feel very comfortable recommending Arroyo for cat or dog care. As for prices, I think they are on the higher end of the range, but I haven't done a serious comparision of veterinary prices lately.

I love Dr. McGrane. We bring our kitty to Arroyo since she was 5 months which was when we adopted her and she was diagnosed with gingivitis. Dr. McGrane is always very caring and sees that our kitty gets the very best of care. We keep an eye on her teeth and its nice that she does not push the extraction of her teeth uinless she is in pain and it is necessary. We finished our annual check up this morning and kitty is happy and healthy and the cost for the visit was very low. The staff is pretty great. Elizabeth who is an assistant to the vets and works  the front desk is also awesome. She sits for our kitty about once a year when we go for vacation. Arroyo loves and cares for animals. This is a great place.

The following adjectives come to mind when I think of Arroyo: Caring, compassionate, dedicated, professional, knowledgable, friendly...

The addage of "you get what you pay for" holds true with most things in life. Sure, Arroyo is not the cheapest, but our pets have always had superior care. I can't count the number of times each of the doctors have consulted with specialists when diagnosing and proposing treatment options for our pets, just to make sure they're being thorough.

Twice in the past couple of months, two different doctors went out of their way to meet us at the clinic - one on a holiday and the other on a Sunday - just so they could give our dog (who was suffering from cancer) something to make him feel better. That level of dedication is what keeps us coming back.

Everyone is also very pleasant. They treat us like friends and our pets as though they were their own. We will never hesitate to recommend Arroyo whenever anyone asks "do you know a good vet?".

We have long been clients of Arroyo Veterinary Hospital and while a trip to their hospital is never inexpensive, I am always convinced our pets are being given the best care.   Doctors Stallings, Schwab, McGrane and Johnson have all seen our dogs or cat and I have always walked out feeling satisfied in the care delivered.

In many cases, I have felt the doctors have even gone beyond what most doctors would consider "normal" or "typical" in delivering care.  A doctor came to our house when we had to euthanize our last dog and twice when our schedules got jammed up, they arranged to drop our dog off at our house at the end of day -- it helps that we live near one of the doctors so we're not too far out of the way.

I can, without hesitation, recommend Arroyo Veterinary Hospital as a place to take your pet if you want to ensure the highest standard of care.

I adopted a rescue dog in January who was slated to be destroyed (in Yolo County). He was only about 6 months old. I took him to Arroyo for an examination and to make sure he had all the protection he needed after his short life in a "shelter." The staff couldn't be nicer to little Tony...a small dog who is a mix of terrier and ?. They did his neutering, and during the day sent me text messages and even pictures so I could see how he was doing. Since then we actually stop by now and then to say hi and Tony likes it there...now that's a testimonial! Dr. Rhonda Stallings is always available either in person, by phone or email if there's a question. It's clean, welcoming and it's a caring place. (and they are very involved in community activities and charitable events) Tony says "Two (or if I could lift them all at once, Four) Paws Up!

Really Arroyo? You won't authorize my pet's prescription for Heartgard to 1800PetMeds by fax? You're really going to make me or my boyfriend go all the way down to your office and then MAIL it to 1800PetMeds ourselves because you don't like being undercut by them? I'm furious. Furious. You guys charge like $20 more for the SAME product. It's a freaking recession. I want to save my $20 and I don't like being held hostage by you. After all the money I've spent with you over multiple dogs and multiple years, you can't fax over my prescription? I'm seriously considering changing to another vet. I've tolerated your overcharging for years because I thought you guys cared about my dogs. Now I think all you care about is reaming us.

This office has really terrible energy.  The desk staff are impolite, cold and insipid.  The two vet techs that I encountered seemed friendly and competent, but I would never ever take my dog here for a serious condition.  The other customers that I encountered here were nasty as well.  Perhaps this is the place where insensitive people bring their pets?  On my last visit, I witnessed a horrible man standing outside of his Lexus yelling at his crippled old dog (who had a hip ailment) to jump into the back seat.  I couldn't believe that the lazy ass couldn't help the dog get into the car--he just stood there yelling at him until I called a vet tech out to help the dog get into the back seat. Every customer I've seen here seems the same way.

Arroyo hospital plays off a pet owner's grief.  I took my cat in and they ran test after test.  One recommended an MRI (only $1500).  I spent over $500, saw three doctors (the first two I actually liked, the third was a very cold woman and what inevitably turned me off to Arroyo).  A friend recommended Dr. Galvin in Novato.   My cat was diagnosed w/ cancer, given fluids, antibiotics and they gave me steroids and antibiotics to go.  How much?  $100!  Dr. Galvin is a true lover of animals!  My cat is getting euthanized.  Unfortunately, Dr. Galvin doesn't do home euthanasias so I called Arroyo.  I told them I didn't want to bring the cat in.  Apparently, the woman who answered the phones had comprehension problems because she kept telling me to bring the cat in because they were booked for home euthanasias.   If I were going to take my cat in to a veterinary hospital to get euthanized, I would go to Dr. Galvin's.  The whole point is I want her to be home, in a familiar environment.

Little did they know, a friend who was trying to help me find a local vet to do home euthanasias called and was told there were two openings at Arroyo!  Huh?  I called ten minutes before she did and was told there weren't.

So I called Arroyo and got jerked around.   In a nutshell, there weren't any openings.  My friend "misunderstood"...but, "you can bring  your cat in and we'll do it here".  Again, is she that uncompassionate, stupid or is just suffering from ADD?

My cat has cancer and I'll be damned if last few moments of her life will involved being lugged into a carrying case to some foreign environment.  I was pretty clear on that but apparently, she wasn't getting it.  She said she would have one of the vets call me in case she had an opening.  Before I could ask her if she had my number, she hung up on me.

Fortunately, I found a doctor who does home euthanasias and was kind enough to call and talk to me about the process.  I was also told that the doctor would stay and talk to the owner afterwards.  Arroyo can take a few lessons in compassion.

Sonoma is a small town.  I spoke to a lot of people about Arroyo including pet owners who took their pets to Arroyo and also pet stores.  Apparently, they're notorious for price gauging.

Too bad because my first impression of Arroyo was a good one.  I really liked Dr. Stahling.  It was all downhill from there.

Once in a room and discussing my cat's issues, one of the nurses, Sotchy felt it necessary to talk down to me like I was a small child. She is one of the reasons I will not be returning.

I was referred by a friend in extreme financial difficultly who received greatly reduced prices. As I am in the same boat, I was hoping for some small discount. This was not the case, in fact I think I over paid for the "services". I wasn't looking for full compensation, but a small hardship discount would have gone a long way to earning my repeat business.

I will not be returning. I will be taking my business and my cat to Dr. Rosner. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

Dr. Stallings and her team have treated our wonderful dog 14 years. While Arroyo may be more expensive than some other vet clinics, the quality we've received AND the consideration and compassion makes it worth it. They really care about your animal and family. Arroyo diagnosed our dog with cancer several years ago and through their intervention we were able to keep her happy and alive for 4 more years. We unfortunately had to put our dog to sleep, and again Dr. Stallings' insight and compassion saved us unnecessary tests and our dog unneeded pain. She also helped counsel us so we could feel ok about the decision. If/when we get another pet, I would take her to Rhonda Stallings and Arroyo.

I recently had to put down my awesome dog.
The care that I received from Arroyo was heartfelt and compassionate.
The process of putting down your dog is extremely difficult and the staff there was supportive in every way.

I am so surprised that anyone could write a bad review of Arroyo.  Several months ago my elderly cat become very ill and I knew the end was near.  Dr. Johnson gave me all my options.  I never felt pressured or taken advantage of in the slightest.  When the time came to have my furry little one "put down" everyone in the office was so sympathetic.  I've also taken my other two cats to Arroyo.  I feel like every vet(i've seen them all), tech, receptionist, etc goes above and beyond.  I wouldn't think of taking my pets anywhere else.
