My work holds an annual charity golf tournament here and we never run into any problems. Michael Block, who is our contact with Arroyo Trabuco, is amazing to work with. I don't work with him directly, but sitting in on meetings he is very professional and he knows what he's doing.

The location is amazing. Although I'm working while I'm here, I can't say the view is terrible. It does seem like a hidden gem and you feel like you're in another world.

Food is great for their events. Our guests kept asking for more.

Our event is in early June, and although the sun is beaming the cool coastal breeze comes in to cool things down.

If you're thinking about hosting a tournament or having your wedding, I would suggest this place. It is a great spot and your guests will love it.

Played this course yesterday for the first time and enjoyed every minute of it. Our group had three foursomes and it took us approximately 4.5 hours to finish. The course itself was in so-so condition, in that the fairways are pretty brown due to the season. The greens overall were in excellent condition and the hole placement was challenging, but fair.

The customer service at this course was exceptional. From the guy grabbing your bag in the parking lot to the gal running the course and serving cold beers to the gal who cleaned our clubs on the 18th hole. We also sat in the clubhouse restaurant after our round and received good service. While I didn't partake in the food, I did watch them bring out two burgers that looked amazing.

My friends golf here almost weekly and love this course. They tell me it is also a great place for a cocktail on a weekend night or brunch on Sunday's. They have live music on some nights and a fireplace on the outside patio.

Overall, cool place to play golf or just hang out and enjoy the ambiance. Will certainly return soon and can't wait to play the course in the summer when everything is green.

Man, this place has totally redeemed itself. What a fun round.

The Course: Arroyo Trabuco was in fantastic shape when I played it late in the summer. Fun, some easy holes and a few punishing holes. The water on the last few holes is a nice touch.

Another great part about this course are the ocean winds on the back 9. We played here on a pretty hot day and that cool wind was just what the doctor ordered.

Arroyo Trabuco requires you to be pretty straight off the tee to stay out of trouble, but the greens aren't too difficult. It's just getting there that can be tough. Very fun layout.

Facilities: Country club feel and very cool area behind the clubhouse, it almost looks like a nice backyard. There are no homes lining the course which is rare for Orange County.

Food was great and their driving range is awesome. If I lived a little closer I would honestly consider becoming a member here. And added bonus: They had FREE beers and sodas leftover in coolers from a members event earlier in the day. They just left them out there for golfers to take...and I took.

Pace of play: 4 hours on a beautiful Saturday morning! Maybe not the best thing for the course, but great for me.

Value: With this kind of experience, this is when it's OK to pay $80+ to play. Worth every penny.

This is a difficult course a for the $94 green fee on the weekend, not all that. It is a cart-only course and the carts did have GPS, which was fun to play with and helpful for your game.

There are plenty of challenging holes and the course overall is narrow. Not a lot of places where you can just rip your tee shot. It is beautiful in its own deserty, Arizona kind of way.

Came here with friends of friends who needed a fourth. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

    Ballin'!!!

I hate golf but love food!

I had a very cool Easter brunch yesterday with my girlfriend's family. The drive from L.A. was nice. Mission Viejo is like the last city in the tip of the O.C., so I thought it would be a drag. I was wrong!

The scenery rocks and everyone is polite except for that one girl who looks important but really isn't--even though she has a walkie talkie and a CLIPBOARD--work on it.

We're seated inside, it was already hot at 10:30 in the a.m., and are greeted by Ms. Sami--she's got the fine premium champagne in her hand, and we all partake in some bubbly.

Once the rest of our party arrives--we hit the grub!!!
I pile my plate high with some breakfast eats-which include-eggs benedict, sausage, bacon, mini waffles and french toast fixings. What really caught my eye was the seared tuna ahi-FUCK YEAH!

After two rounds of regular food, I dash over to the dessert area. I snag a cheesecake slice and a pumpkin pie slice--topped of with their very own chocolate sauce. Yeah.

The inside clubhouse has a cabin-like decor and the outside is green as far as the eye can see--and has a cool lake.

I highly recommend this fine establishment...FOR BRUNCH ONLY. I don't play golf, so I can't comment on that.

    That's all I got.

Some days are great and other days.....even greater!

The course is always in pretty great shape and the staff's (always) quick to grab your bag.  (It doesn't hurt when they can stir-up a great bloody-mary mid-round, either!!!)

The course is challenging (from the blue tee's and...) although it's not as green as we'd like - it's really supposed to be like that in some places.  GO FIGURE.

As for the grub - it'd be cool if they didn't put minced onions in their kobe burgers...but it's pretty-damn-delicious if you enjoy onions.

All in all - if you're not lookin' for 5-stars, and you've checked their prices in advance - you ought be satisified!

Had a chance to play this track for the first time last Sunday with a couple of great golfers.  For those that have never played here, Arroyo Trabuco is conveniently located off of the I-5 in Mission Viejo.  It took about an hour to get there from the Diamond Bar area.  This is a semi-private course and worth checking out.  They have a nice pro shop, good coffee shop, carts with GPS, an all-grass driving range, a club repair/builder onsite and great service!

We payed $68.00 for a round which was kind of steep IMO.  Service was good from the start.  I was making my way from the driving range to the starter when one of the workers asked if I was playing and he grabbed my bag for me and loaded it onto the cart while I paid the green fees.  I thought this was kind of cool.

This is not the longest track I played but, it was one of the harder ones.  The great thing about this track is that it wasn't built around any homes.  The fairways are pretty narrow and there is plenty of holes with undulating fairways.  Pin location on some holes were very questionable making scoring very hard.  There is quite a few holes with elevation changes, greens with false fronts and some with wide open fairways.

If you play this track for the first time, I recommend you bring a few sleeves of balls.  Long hitters beware!  No need to smash the driver here because chances are you will lose your ball - even if you hit it straight!

Overall, I had a challenging day.  My two other buddies did very well shooting under 80.  The pace started to get slow when we caught up to a twosome that was spraying shots left and right and taking too much time looking for their ball.  They didn't even think to wave the group in front of them.  This is what I think most golfers hate the most!  It definitely affects the tempo and overall mood!

Give this place a shot - at least once.  Golfers on a budget beware!  There are plenty of other tracks that will offer you just as much challenge while staying in the "under 50.00" range.

I went to a wedding here this past weekend and it is a gorgeous venue! the backdrop was the 18th hole and the hills of mission viejo! the food was good as well. they served us sushi, cheese and crackers, grilled veggies, crab legs, oysters and shrimp cocktails. I wasnt able to stay for the reception. but the room overlooked the green and the outdoor patio was nice to have to get some fresh air.

i hear the golf course is very good as well!

Really a Country Club experience.  This is what upscale golf should always be.  A good course, good staff and good grub.

A friend turned me onto this course and I've been coming back for like, 2 years.  You really feel like you're out in the country on a lot of these holes.  Very well designed, medium long from the Blue's and some really punitive holes that involve water(like #18).  And when your'e done good food and drinks in a very comfortable clubhouse.
    Highly recommended

So I am working away yesterday, engulfed in the mundane, when ding ding...in comes a text from a friend.  "you around today".  That can mean just one thing..LETS GO GOLFING!!

My only issue, in reading the text is, well he probably wants to go for a round at Pelican Hill..not in my budget.

I reply, and yes, golf is the objective.  I suggest Aliso Creek, a great local Laguna course that is only about $20 buck and rocks...I am countered with Arroyo Trabuco...YIkes...last time i played there it was like $100...then he punctuates the sentence with, "they have a holiday rate..$50!

I AM IN.  Arroyo is a great course, especially for a public one.  Has that Country Club feel, nice practice range, awesome restaurant/lounge for watching Monday night football after a tough afternoon on the course.

We arrived a little early, hit some balls, starter let us out 15 min ahead of our tee time...it was a glorious day.

As the sun sets, it gets pretty darn cold pretty darn fast, so if you are playing in the afternoon, bring a jacket for when the sun drops behind the hills.

The course was in great shape, great day, great snacks after ($6 tri tip sliders!!!)

    ........and a great price!

I think this is by far my favorite orange county golf course.

It's very green, and the mix of water, bunkers, trees, and out of bounds provides lots of variety to this course.  Every hole is so different that you don't become a "robot"... as in, tee shot, iron, putt without regards for anything.  That kind of thinking can lead to trouble because if you don't account for a slope on a tee shot, you're straight tee shot could hit the slope and roll into a bunker.

And accurately placing irons on a green will definitely make putting easier.

It's a bit expensive, but I think worth the money!

Mid-range to Upscale public course in South OC.  Great facilities, reasonably priced for the quality of the course.

Canyon course that demands accuracy in several areas off the tee.

One of the newest golf courses in Orange County.

I am new to golf and have only been playing for about a year.  I have played a number of local courses and this is one of the nicer ones.  The staff is very friendly and once you get away from the first few holes, you feel a little removed from the surroundings and can get nicely lost in the game.

The course itself is challenging and generally well kept.  Today the greens were very sandy from maintenance and that sucked.  But, I understand it is necessary and not a normal condition.

Lunch afterward on the patio at O'Neill's is always pleasant and their pulled pork sandwich is pretty good.  You can smell the smoker when you hit 17 and it starts to make you really hungry!  Finally, your first beer is your score, so if you shoot a 90, it's $.90.  For me, it's always over a buck but it's still a smokin' deal.

OC Golf prices are through the roof and I'd really rather call this a 4.5 star course BUT its in my top 3 public OC courses if you remove price all together.  It's extremely well run by the staff and the course itself is a fantastic challenge offering you the opportunity to use every club in the bag.  It can be a bit tough on the high handicappers but it's a great track.

I am not the golfer in the family...just the chauffeur and the wallet.  My golfer likes this course.  She doesn't like the mats at the driving range.  She likes to hit off grass.  Prices are high but about average for OC.  What we love here???  Sandra Palmer, one of the instructors, is the bomb!  And, they have a great pizza in the restaurant..only $10!  Looking forward to spending lots of time and money here this summer! :)

It was ridiculously hot today and I decided to play golf with a friend on my day off.  I'm guessing it was 100 degrees.  I attribute my lousy playing to the heat.  LOL  A couple beers and some Gatorade didn't even help.  The course is really nice except they were seeding some of the greens today.  It is a pretty nice course for being public.  Overall,  great scenery and a fun course.  Nice slopes and well groomed fairways.   I lost a good amount of balls.  There is so much brush everywhere and the fairways are narrow.  If you shot around 100 like me, you probably will lose some balls and struggle on some holes.   Golf is a great game, had a blast today.

I have never actually golfed at this course but their range is great, all grass, and they have the best instructor that I have ever used. His name is Perry Parker and I would recommend him to anyone that needs help with their golf game. I am someone who is athletic but my golf swing wasn't great before I met Perry. That has all changed after only 3 lessons. Perry worked with my current swing rather than trying to change it completely. I have never felt so good about my golf game and I owe my improvement 100% to Perry. Thank you so much!

On the higher end side of public courses in OC, this is one of my favorites because the layout is pretty good, and the price is a little less than the comps.  This is the opposite of Strawberry Farms which has a poor layout, shoddy maintenance, and higher fees.  Arroyo Trabuco trumps Strawberry in every way.  The greens were good when I played here in an amatuer tournament, and the practice facilities are really good too.  Last time I was there was a while ago, but Perry Parker gives lessons at the range and he is a solid teacher.  He knows his stuff and can get your game straightened out.  Also, he's just a really good guy.

Overpriced for brown fairways. Very difficult if you've never played it. If I were to return I would probably shave about 10 strokes of my game just now knowing the layout now. If you miss the fairway say good bye to your ball as every fairway is lined with environmental protection stakes. The beer girl was nice.

I recently did an outdoor wedding and reception at this location and it was just perfect. The best part about it was that the wedding coordinator for this venue was just as wonderful and professional as could be. The back drop is beautifully set with the mountains and  gorgeous golf course. We got some really amazing shots and there was an abundance of locations to photograph every detail of the event.

I don't usually don't frequent classy institutions such as golf or country clubs unless there's a party with booze involved.  Which in the case of this review it was an engagement party for a close friend of mine.  The luscious greens were nestled in the hills of South County, kind of hidden away behind Saddleback College.  The party was on the patio of the dining room, very intimate.  The champagne was yummy because the flutes were rimmed with pink sugar crystals.  The food was really good, especially the beef wellington and tuna tartare, I only wish that there was more of it.  Extra bonus was seeing the baby bunny rabbit.

This is my home course because its near my home.  har har.  The grass range here is much better than that crappy range up the hill at Saddleback College.  I hate that damn net.  The course is priced a little high at $78 for what it is but its still a fun course.  Its pretty straight foward.  The greens here can be a hit or miss.  The front and back 9 have some good holes.  But 15 and 16 are the EXACT same hole.  The only difference is one goes north as a par 4 and the other comes south as a par 5.  Kinda boring.  Thats my only complaint.

Great clubhouse, nice people, nice range (but way overpriced), great putting green, easy parking and excellent food. I've played 4xs now and enjoyed it every time out.

This is my home course. No complaints. Its a beautiful location, lakes, grassy, hilly and its tough. There are a lot of OB areas. Easy to lose balls there. You can see a fair amount of wild life while you play as well..coyote, deer, rabbit, road runners, squirrels, ausprey, hawks, ducks, etc... You can hear big bull frogs sometimes also. I like the driving range, they have a nice putting/practice area, practice chipping at the range. O'Neils is their restaurant there, its great for before/after round drinks/meals. Great staff. The cart girls there are wonderful, we love Debbie, she is great. She makes a cranberry lemonade spritzer I think she calls it, she sells out every day.  They have good sandwiches on those carts, my son loves the turkey. The rangers are nice - its an over all fantastic experience. My favorite holes are #6, up hill par 4, #12, #13 over the water par 3, and 16,17,18 are very nice. 17 and 18 are right on the lake. The sunday brunch is very nice. I've reviewed it before, Don Duncan is the singer there, and if you haven't heard him before, you need to. You're missing out. He is not only a great singer/entertainer, he has a great personality and remembers EVERYONE.
