Los Angeles, CA
I have been here on several occasions mostly after work to play the par 3 course. It is a great course to learn on and the staff has always been kind. They do turn the lights on when it gets dark but be aware they do shut the lights off at 8:30 on the back 9!! (Found this out as the lights went out on us at hole 16 last eve!)
I agree with the comment that It isn't the most challenging course but for 14 bucks to play 18 holes it is really hard to beat. The fairways are in good condition and the greens play a bit slow but overall the course is in good condition. It's not Pebble Beach but it is good for a few hours of practice and fun! -
Review from David W.
Came here for a Groupon Deal lesson.
It was a little bit of a scary ride driving to here. I didn't know it was that far away from when I bought it.
The lesson itself was amazing! Got a lesson from Joseph, and he's was patient despite the fact that I didn't have a clue of what I was doing. You know you have a great instructor when he not only knows how to teach, but he knows where you're messing up on. That's true skill there if you can do the second.
The golf course on the otherhand isn't that impressive. The driving range in Almansor is my favorite so far.
The place feels old and dirty. The restrooms are DISGUSTING! -

Whoever wrote that this is the best par 3 course in Los Angeles, needs to play Weddington and Rancho Park.
This course is just average. The condition of the course and greens are good, above average. Also this is the only par 3 in Los Angeles where I have played and it is a full 18 holes. Normally you play the same 9 twice.
Price for 18 is reasonable at $15. $13 for 9 holes, so you might as well play the 18.
Unfortunately I found this course boring. Each hole is basically the same with little variety or difference in yardages. I felt I was just going up and down doing the same thing all morning. I much prefer the course design at the other par 3's in the area. There is a little stream going down the middle which comes into play on a couple of holes, but there is no sand and all of the holes are pretty much straight. -

Went on a date to the mini-golf course here. It is super-adorable! Definitely a bit beat-up, as other reviewers have said, but in a quirky way, not a dilapidated way. The course is challenging without being frustrating, and it wasn't too crowded, letting us play at our own pace. As a bonus, it is really cheap, and the owners are very accommodating. We came near closing time and they didn't bat an eye.
Would definitely recommend it as a date activity, or for some family fun! -

Great course with well-kept greens. The price to play 18 holes isn't bad either.

Mini-Golf Review.
Price is $4 per person. Closes at 10.
It's pretty worn and unkempt. Leaves are everywhere.
Arrived around 8:30. A few sorority girl groups ahead of us. Replayed a view holes while waiting for them to move on to the next hole.
Good times.

Worst mini golf I've been to not worth the $4 a person.

Review from Andrew K.
Review is for the par 3 course and range only.
Positives:
Maybe it's the secluded nature of the location but range is very serene; even the low hum of the vehicles whizzing by along the 110-N is comforting. Abundant parking. $8 for an extra-large bucket.
Negatives:
You'll end up blind if you go as the sun starts to set. Sunglasses are futile. Between 630-645pm is probably a safe bet as the sun starts settling behind some hills on the west horizon. Lack of ball tray is inconvenient. Range stalls lie at a subtle but discernible right-to-left break so you are slightly off-balance; range area in general is aligned diagonally.
The Course: ~$15, lush fairways, divot-free greens, lit at night, narrow, probably won't need more than an 8 or 9 iron. -
Review from Joyce Y.
Call it beginner's luck, but I GOT A HOLE IN ONE!!! Woo-Hoo!
This is a great place to go mini-golfing with a date. Yes, it's old and the last wind mill course wasn't working (therefore, no challenge). But, what a fun place to do something "active", even if you're not a golfer.
There are about 9 mini golf holes with different types of obstacles. I got a hole in one on the very first hole!! My fiance was a little scared he was going to be beat by a girl...hahaha...up until the very end when my luck ran out. He was relieved he was not beat by a girl. ha!
It is now $4 per person for mini golf, not $2 as indicated on yelp. But when we went on a Friday night, there were 2 other couples ahead of us. They were kinda slow so we were last and waiting for them to finish so we played with the same hole again and again to practice!
It's a little hidden to find if you've never been here. You'll have to drive all the way inside. Park where all the other cars park for the regular golf course. Mini golf is inside. We weren't sure where to go at first but we finally figured it out.
Overall, great fun, cheap date!! -

This golf course is a bit beat up.
The green has rips and folds, so that might be a problem playing a few holes. But the prices are very decent, and i still had fun!
I would love to go back and hit a few balls on the driving range though =) -

All I played here was the mini-golf.
$4 gets you a 6 hole course that will take maybe a half hour. I haven't played mini-golf since I was very little, so I don't know how this compares, but it was fun. Shot a couple balls through some doll houses, fired through a windmill, etc etc.
There's a nearby park with a huge concrete drainage ditch. I'd suggest bringing some cardboard boxes for it, so you can ride that down. Wheeee~ -

Oh, South Pasadena... it's not enough that you are already a cute part of town with a Metro stop and my favorite restaurant (Mike & Anne's). You have to have a golf course, too. Yes, it is a par 3, but at least you're not pretending to be something grander and charging for valet parking & $50 lunches. You're small golf course, with a driving range & mini-golf. Too bad about the pro shop - didn't know it had closed until yesterday. The longest hole here is 150 yards, and I finished 9 holes with a friend in 1 hour. If you didn't charge so much, I'd stop by more often. But for $12 at 7pm in the summer, I can play any golf course in the area and those golf courses let me swing driver. Maybe going to playing a par 3 golf course is like hiking - it's not so much about the activity, as it is the chance to catch up with friends.

One of the best par-3 courses in the L.A. area. The fairways are in very good shape, and there are nice water hazards and trees. A must for the beginning golfer.

Time travel is possible. This mini golf course will take you back to a kinder, simpler, pre Bush (both of them) time in America.
It's a hidden gem near the border of South Pasadena. Wow, it's like 1963 every day here. The mini golf course is challenging and fun. This is the perfect low stress date location. I don't actually golf, but there is a bigger course here as well if you're feeling like playing a grown up sport.
A rare gem hidden away but just a few minutes up the 110 from downtown. -

My dad used to bring my sister and me hear 4 times a week after school while he hit balls at the range.
We would go in and have fries and shakes at the diner and then play the mini golf course OVER and OVER and OVER, making sure to not hit the ball in the last hole because then they take.
:)
This is where my golf roots began at the ripe young age of six. It's perfect for beginners!!Listed in: .pasadena bred.

This is for the mini-golf course.
For 2 bucks, you can't go wrong!
Cheap date, evening winddown, or even If you want to drive some balls at the drivinh range and don't want to deal with the teens or kids, send the wife and them playing mini golf while you correct that slice you've developed.
For 2 dollars, they'll give you a putter and a ball for 9 holes. The final hole takes your ball.
I've been tempted to start the national mini golf players of America, or the NMGPA, which would play and rate mini golf places around the country. We could wear matching jackets, and bring our own putters.
I think that this would be rated a pretty difficult course by the NMGPA. The 3rd hole is a doozy.
Bring your friends. It's kinda hidden, the mosquitoes and broke hipsters come out at night, so don't say I didn't warn you. -

This is where I learned to play golf. This is probably why I have a great short game and can't hit my long irons. With that being said, As far as I'm concerned this is the best 18 hole par 3 golf course around.
It's great to come out with your friends and get a way for a couple of hours. If you're dating a girl and she wants to learn how to play or wants to come along with you this is the place for it because it won't break the bank. They have lights so you can play at night. They have a bar. They have a mini golf course for $2 in case you want to relive childhood memories.
They also have the standard driving range and putting course but they also have a bunker where you can practice getting out of the sand. -

Once my boyfriend surprised me with a mini-golf date. He drove me all the way to Palmdale to some sort of Fun Zone, where we played about 18 versions of the same simple hole, then did the whole monotonous thing again on the second hole. The whole time, I kept thinking, "I would have had fun if you had just taken me to Pasadena!" Luckily, the FunZone redeemed itself with batting cages.
The Arroyo Seco Golf course is sorely lacking in batting cages, but does not need them, as they have a fantastic and adorable 9 hole mini golf course that is surprisingly challenging. The structures have been repainted over the past few years, making the decor quite cheery, but don't let that distract you from making it across the bridge on The Ant Hole (my sworn mini-golf enemy). There are enough hills, levels, and multiple holes to keep each hole new and fun, and even though the windmill must be manpowered on the final hole, hopefully you've had enough fun so that it doesn't quite matter. The cost is cheap (about $2 or $3 per person to play) and I've never seen the mini golf course very busy, so there is no pressure to speed your game along. -

This place is great for those of us who believe golfing without alcohol is like fishing without alcohol, they are intrinsically linked by their very nature.
It's a great little course and nice self-service driving range with ample stations.
For those of us who still think golf can be a fun pastime and not an all-consuming addiction this is our fun little course right near the 'Hood! -

Rating the Mini Golf ONLY.
Four stars for being inexpensive and close to my home. Two stars for being in pretty bad condition-- the putting areas at many holes are torn, some formerly motorized areas like the last hole ( a windmill) doesn't spin, broken glass on a few of the church windows.
Even with the disrepair, my kids still like it, so I like it too. :-) -

It's so pretty here.
You can play for under $10.
You can play with one club.
You can bring your own beer, I think.
You can try playing without shoes.
It's a great place to play naked, just kidding.
But you can play in jeans, t-shirt and slippers.
It's a great place to play and learn the game.
Also a great place for seniors and kids.Listed in: Best Golf in LA for under $40

Lazy non-Epic Monday nights = going to the driving range to take out all of your stress on some golf balls.
The facility is fairly old with a small miniature golf course for the kids and a short par 3 golf course for the big kids.
Hit about 100 balls. You can tell the place is old since the mats feel ancient and the most annoying part is that there is no real place to dump your balls out besides an indentation on the ground which can hold like maybe 20 balls at a time - This also makes it tough to use your club to place balls on the mat - I can deal with it, but old folks must be cursing at the course everytime they have to bend down to place more balls on the mat.
Other than that, its a real chill place to be - The only reason I'd go back is due to the proximity to my place. -

The best double date I've ever had has to be at the Arroyo Seco par three. It ain't easy to find a golf course well-suited to beginners, and the seasoned pro, but Arroyo Seco has a little something for everyone.
The laid-back atmosphere is probably the best part. No golf attire required. Bring your six pack, and a few of your favorite clubs and enjoy.
The place has a super-friendly atmosphere, and is well-maintained. With lights across the course you can play until 10 pm, and then stay and hit a bucket or play putt putt on the most difficult putt putt course of all time. -
Review from Alex K.
This is a fun little pitch and putt course on the border of South Pasadena and Highland Park.
This is a great place to work out the kinks of your game if you're a beginner. The only thing I don't like is that you hit off of mats.
The course is kept in good condition and the fees are pretty affordable. This is a walking course, and you can leave most of your clubs in the car anyway.
The yardages were incorrectly marked so you have to be careful. I kept flying past the greens on several holes until I figured out which ones to look at. -

We came here for a fun twilight round of par-3 on a Saturday night. No problems getting on the course, and didn't feel rushed at all. The grass is in fantastic condition, and there is a cute stream running between the holes. It was my first time playing golf at night, which was a neat experience!
The mature trees guarding the greens make for a challenge, but the longest hole was only 136 yards so M. didn't feel too overwhelmed. Interesting that they have 18 holes, but you can choose to only play 9.
There is also a driving range, crazy golf course, putting green, restaurant and pro-shop. Highly recommended if you, or someone you know, is getting started with golf. -

I have been playing golf here for years and really enjoy this Par 3 course! It is very laid back tucked in So Pas. Definitely a good place to golf and hang with friends. Despite it's proximity to the freeway, surprisingly it is quite tranquil. They have a pretty decent driving range and putting green where you can practice your shots. There is also a mini golf. The whole 18 hole course costs $15.00 compared to $12.00 for the 9 hole, which is not too bad. Parking is never a hassle. The best time to golf here is on weekends between noon and 1 PM where it is not as crowded. Fairways and greens!

This is one of our favorite par 3 courses.
Several reasons.
- The hours - you can play into the night (10pm) as they have lights.
- reasonably priced. $14 for 18 holes.
- The people there are friendly.
- There is a cafe where the burgers/fries and shakes are actually good.
(even the simple grilled cheese was good). And, they make real shakes.
They have a bar and sports on the tv.
- There is a pro shop with a small selection - but if you need something you can get it here .. (shoes/ shirts / equipment etc).
- We have worked on our short game here.
In fact - we are new to the game (only a year or so) and when we went on to play at executive 9 courses and were paired with some of the LONG hitting guys (we are women) who gave us driving pointers ... we actually BEAT them in the scores - WHY - our short game.
(note: can someone explain why guys pick up the ball when putting as IF it was a gimme at a distance that is NOT a gimme?)..
- Difficult .. some people write that it is easy - but I have played with plenty of people who find it challenging. The course requires you to have hit in the fairway -- or else you'll hit a tree or go in the stream ... So, it is has trained us to WORK on our slice...
- There is a driving range/ putting and chipping area.
- It is a pretty course.
If you are new to golf - FOR SURE this is an excellent course to work on your game. And, the staff will make you feel welcome.
Enjoy -

You know I really like this 3 par golf course, and I would give them a higher rating but I've been going here for years now and I really think its time for them to invest in some new mats to tee off of the ones they have now are all uneven and warped making a lot more difficult than it needs to be to tee of. But everything else about the course is nice.

mini golf: $4. It looks like they patched up the parts that looks like it's falling apart (as stated by other yelp members) but you definitely can tell the golf course has some good wear and tear usage over the years.

This place is such a little oasis in the middle of South Pasadena and Highland Park. I've lived in the 'hood for years before I discovered this place totally by mistake. The staff is really nice, and there is a driving range here. I will say that I am a total golf n00b and I felt right at home here practicing my swing at the driving range. The first time I came here, I came here on my bike so it was quite a workout for me that day! This is such a little serene piece of greenland in the middle of LA. You'd never have guessed from the freeway that there is such a little place here. I love it.

It had been YEARS since I'd played mini-golf. Long years full of pestering friends to go play putt-putt with me, because seriously, who plays mini-golf by themself??? Yet... Always denied. Driving by Boomerz would cause me to shed a tear of bitterness.
Well, bitter no more! I got to play mini-golf! Granted, this place wasn't the most exciting one (1 course, 9 putting things), but I do believe it was a good start-off. I must hone my skills, after all! (I ended up winning the game, but I think the scoremaster deliberately miscounted in my favor)
It's situated in between the "real" golf course and one of those things where you practice your drive. (I have no idea what the terminology is for this stuff)
$2 gets you about a half hour of (hopefully) good-natured competition. If you go on a sunny day (chances are, you will), I'd recommend wearing a hat, so you don't want to worry about glare while you're making that million dollar shot into the wooden windmill. -

Pasadena, CA
I've been coming here often, lately, and I figured an update was in order. They've raised their prices to $12, I'm sorry to say, but this place is still awesome. I suck at golf, mostly cause I'm drunk and high when I play (excuses, excuses) and I'd be embarrassed to appear on any other golf course in the condition that I'm frequently in here. I carry three battered golf clubs I've picked up at the dump or yard sales and drink from my flask at noon on a Tuesday. We smoke in the open and nobody cares. It's good to be back in California. A great place for golf. Five stars for allowing and even encouraging this childish, illegal and rude behavior.

Fun little par 3 course. Don't need more than an 8 iron here. One hole is 140+, but also has a seperate tee for 115 or so. All other holes are under 130. Greens are very slow, as grass is longer than most courses. On the back 9, there are 2 holes you can lose your ball at if you hit it high and left. Other than that, no bunkers, and one small muddy creek that can get on missed shots, but easy to pull it out of. Fun cozy environment and fun to play at.

This is only a review of the practice facilities. They are terrible. The putting green isn't too bad. They have a separate chipping green which is a good idea in theory but this was is a worthless pile of crap. Then there is the range. Maybe the worst of any I have ever hit at. What a joke. Avoid this facility at all costs. Two miles away is Brookside which is the antithesis of this waste of space.

The course is average but if you want to practice your drives, the self-service range is pretty good and quick. You can get a decry sized bucket for $9. They event rent out a club for $5 if you are a beginner and want to learn the game.
