cheap date time.
The mini golf course is really fun. it's pretty run down, peeling paint, greens a bit tore up, but it'll take you back.
highly recommended.

This is where I learned to play golf. This is probably why I have a great short game and can't hit my long irons. With that being said, As far as I'm concerned this is the best 18 hole par 3 golf course around.
It's great to come out with your friends and get a way for a couple of hours. If you're dating a girl and she wants to learn how to play or wants to come along with you this is the place for it because it won't break the bank. They have lights so you can play at night. They have a bar. They have a mini golf course for $2 in case you want to relive childhood memories.
They also have the standard driving range and putting course but they also have a bunker where you can practice getting out of the sand.

This is for the mini-golf course.
For 2 bucks, you can't go wrong!
Cheap date, evening winddown, or even If you want to drive some balls at the drivinh range and don't want to deal with the teens or kids, send the wife and them playing mini golf while you correct that slice you've developed.
For 2 dollars, they'll give you a putter and a ball for 9 holes. The final hole takes your ball.
I've been tempted to start the national mini golf players of America, or the NMGPA, which would play and rate mini golf places around the country. We could wear matching jackets, and bring our own putters.
I think that this would be rated a pretty difficult course by the NMGPA. The 3rd hole is a doozy.
Bring your friends. It's kinda hidden, the mosquitoes and broke hipsters come out at night, so don't say I didn't warn you.

This place is such a little oasis in the middle of South Pasadena and Highland Park. I've lived in the 'hood for years before I discovered this place totally by mistake. The staff is really nice, and there is a driving range here. I will say that I am a total golf n00b and I felt right at home here practicing my swing at the driving range. The first time I came here, I came here on my bike so it was quite a workout for me that day! This is such a little serene piece of greenland in the middle of LA. You'd never have guessed from the freeway that there is such a little place here. I love it.

This place is great for those of us who believe golfing without alcohol is like fishing without alcohol, they are intrinsically linked by their very nature.
It's a great little course and nice self-service driving range with ample stations.
For those of us who still think golf can be a fun pastime and not an all-consuming addiction this is our fun little course right near the 'Hood!

The course is average but if you want to practice your drives, the self-service range is pretty good and quick. You can get a decry sized bucket for $9. They event rent out a club for $5 if you are a beginner and want to learn the game.
We were trying to figure out what to do one night and a friend suggested putt putt, $2 no less! Some of the green is lumpy and makes your ball go along crazy invisible paths, but I suppose that merely provides you with a fun challenge.
It's so pretty here.
You can play for under $10.
You can play with one club.
You can bring your own beer, I think.
You can try playing without shoes.
It's a great place to play naked, just kidding.
But you can play in jeans, t-shirt and slippers.
It's a great place to play and learn the game.
Also a great place for seniors and kids.

Time travel is possible. This mini golf course will take you back to a kinder, simpler, pre Bush (both of them) time in America.
It's a hidden gem near the border of South Pasadena. Wow, it's like 1963 every day here. The mini golf course is challenging and fun. This is the perfect low stress date location. I don't actually golf, but there is a bigger course here as well if you're feeling like playing a grown up sport.
A rare gem hidden away but just a few minutes up the 110 from downtown.

I haven't been in a while, but when I went to driving range, I found Very friendly guys there. I got great pointers, and had a beer in the bar afterwwards. Cool Place. Looking for a Cool Guy to go there and teach me on the course. I am an athlete... Live very close.. I give it 5 because it is Beautiful, relaxing and fun.

The best double date I've ever had has to be at the Arroyo Seco par three. It ain't easy to find a golf course well-suited to beginners, and the seasoned pro, but Arroyo Seco has a little something for everyone.
The laid-back atmosphere is probably the best part. No golf attire required. Bring your six pack, and a few of your favorite clubs and enjoy.
The place has a super-friendly atmosphere, and is well-maintained. With lights across the course you can play until 10 pm, and then stay and hit a bucket or play putt putt on the most difficult putt putt course of all time.

This is only a review of the practice facilities. They are terrible. The putting green isn't too bad. They have a separate chipping green which is a good idea in theory but this was is a worthless pile of crap. Then there is the range. Maybe the worst of any I have ever hit at. What a joke. Avoid this facility at all costs. Two miles away is Brookside which is the antithesis of this waste of space.
Fun little par 3 course. Don't need more than an 8 iron here. One hole is 140+, but also has a seperate tee for 115 or so. All other holes are under 130. Greens are very slow, as grass is longer than most courses. On the back 9, there are 2 holes you can lose your ball at if you hit it high and left. Other than that, no bunkers, and one small muddy creek that can get on missed shots, but easy to pull it out of. Fun cozy environment and fun to play at.
I've been here a few times, so to break it down:
The par 3 is okay, but it got monotonous for me. I know it's a pitch and putt, but when every hole is a straight shot of varying distances with nothing else going on, I start to get bored. Much prefer De Bell or Rancho Park. Sure, De Bell has terrible greens (or browns as my friend calls them), but at least the course looks interesting. And it's only $4 there. If this place were just the par 3 I'd give it 2 stars.
The driving range is, well, not that great. You hit off mats, which I don't have a problem with. But they have these rubber mats, then a little attachment of fake grass that sits right in a concrete depression for your balls. If that makes any sense. The problem I had? I'm left handed, and it doens't work for lefties. I pulled the hitting mat contraption out and placed it on the lefty side, but it was a few inches higher than my feet. Minor gripe, I suppose, but it'd be nice if they had a few driving range boxes for lefties. Maybe I just missed them.
The saving grace for this place is the mini golf place. $2, 9 holes, and an actual windmill. It's a little low lit, but it's not like you're hitting deep into the night, so you can't lose a ball (well, you can, but it's hard to). Was a great place both for a date and a birthday party. Had a blast.
So for mini golf I'd give this place a 5. If you want a driving range or a par 3, go somewhere else.

My dad used to bring my sister and me hear 4 times a week after school while he hit balls at the range.
We would go in and have fries and shakes at the diner and then play the mini golf course OVER and OVER and OVER, making sure to not hit the ball in the last hole because then they take.
:)
This is where my golf roots began at the ripe young age of six. It's perfect for beginners!!

This course is beautiful. It's away from main streets and freeways, something uncommon for nearly all munis in LA. The greenery is lush and well kept - I don't ever recall having seen bad grounds forced out of play here ever. The greens always remain smooth, and I can only remember having to use my divot repair tool only once. Being the only nightly lit course in the area helps too.
Play can be slow here, as there are many 4-, 5- (and more) somes. However, you will find most to be courteous just as long as you are, unlike the already-drunken rabble you'd find at other pricier munis (wilson-harding anyone?).
However, and this is important, one incident makes the above irrelevant and forced me to forever reconsider coming back. While starting the usual weekly night round with my buddies, we came across a spectacle you should never see - a rampant driver careening across the course. No, not the club - A CAR WAS ON THE COURSE!! I kid you not, with the driver belligerent and obviously under the influence, we were lucky enough to get a free show of a wannabe rally driver doing donuts on the fairway, jumping the mounds on the greens on his way to executing the flagstick Dukes of Hazzard style. Yes, this one moment destroyed all the well kept qualities I had mentioned before, and destroyed my trust in the management as well. How the hell did a car manage to get in in the first place? Why did the first responder leave and allow this nutjob to make a 2nd and 3rd pass? Obviously they didn't know a thing when questioned by the officers afterwards, and didn't offer refunds either. Some people may see past this, but remember this is NEVER supposed to happen on a course EVER. It may not happen again, but once is enough for me; I'm taking our weekly rounds elsewhere.
I've been coming here often, lately, and I figured an update was in order. They've raised their prices to $12, I'm sorry to say, but this place is still awesome. I suck at golf, mostly cause I'm drunk and high when I play (excuses, excuses) and I'd be embarrassed to appear on any other golf course in the condition that I'm frequently in here. I carry three battered golf clubs I've picked up at the dump or yard sales and drink from my flask at noon on a Tuesday. We smoke in the open and nobody cares. It's good to be back in California. A great place for golf. Five stars for allowing and even encouraging this childish, illegal and rude behavior.

Great course for golf addicts. improve your short game and have fun after dinner. Flat course so not a lot of challenges but I think is great for your golf fixes.
Once my boyfriend surprised me with a mini-golf date. He drove me all the way to Palmdale to some sort of Fun Zone, where we played about 18 versions of the same simple hole, then did the whole monotonous thing again on the second hole. The whole time, I kept thinking, "I would have had fun if you had just taken me to Pasadena!" Luckily, the FunZone redeemed itself with batting cages.
The Arroyo Seco Golf course is sorely lacking in batting cages, but does not need them, as they have a fantastic and adorable 9 hole mini golf course that is surprisingly challenging. The structures have been repainted over the past few years, making the decor quite cheery, but don't let that distract you from making it across the bridge on The Ant Hole (my sworn mini-golf enemy). There are enough hills, levels, and multiple holes to keep each hole new and fun, and even though the windmill must be manpowered on the final hole, hopefully you've had enough fun so that it doesn't quite matter. The cost is cheap (about $2 or $3 per person to play) and I've never seen the mini golf course very busy, so there is no pressure to speed your game along.

Lazy non-Epic Monday nights = going to the driving range to take out all of your stress on some golf balls.
The facility is fairly old with a small miniature golf course for the kids and a short par 3 golf course for the big kids.
Hit about 100 balls. You can tell the place is old since the mats feel ancient and the most annoying part is that there is no real place to dump your balls out besides an indentation on the ground which can hold like maybe 20 balls at a time - This also makes it tough to use your club to place balls on the mat - I can deal with it, but old folks must be cursing at the course everytime they have to bend down to place more balls on the mat.
Other than that, its a real chill place to be - The only reason I'd go back is due to the proximity to my place.

It had been YEARS since I'd played mini-golf. Long years full of pestering friends to go play putt-putt with me, because seriously, who plays mini-golf by themself??? Yet... Always denied. Driving by Boomerz would cause me to shed a tear of bitterness.
Well, bitter no more! I got to play mini-golf! Granted, this place wasn't the most exciting one (1 course, 9 putting things), but I do believe it was a good start-off. I must hone my skills, after all! (I ended up winning the game, but I think the scoremaster deliberately miscounted in my favor)
It's situated in between the "real" golf course and one of those things where you practice your drive. (I have no idea what the terminology is for this stuff)
$2 gets you about a half hour of (hopefully) good-natured competition. If you go on a sunny day (chances are, you will), I'd recommend wearing a hat, so you don't want to worry about glare while you're making that million dollar shot into the wooden windmill.

This is one of our favorite par 3 courses.
Several reasons.
- The hours - you can play into the night (10pm) as they have lights.
- reasonably priced. $14 for 18 holes.
- The people there are friendly.
- There is a cafe where the burgers/fries and shakes are actually good.
(even the simple grilled cheese was good). And, they make real shakes.
They have a bar and sports on the tv.
- There is a pro shop with a small selection - but if you need something you can get it here .. (shoes/ shirts / equipment etc).
- We have worked on our short game here.
In fact - we are new to the game (only a year or so) and when we went on to play at executive 9 courses and were paired with some of the LONG hitting guys (we are women) who gave us driving pointers ... we actually BEAT them in the scores - WHY - our short game.
(note: can someone explain why guys pick up the ball when putting as IF it was a gimme at a distance that is NOT a gimme?)..
- Difficult .. some people write that it is easy - but I have played with plenty of people who find it challenging. The course requires you to have hit in the fairway -- or else you'll hit a tree or go in the stream ... So, it is has trained us to WORK on our slice...
- There is a driving range/ putting and chipping area.
- It is a pretty course.
If you are new to golf - FOR SURE this is an excellent course to work on your game. And, the staff will make you feel welcome.
Enjoy
We came here for a fun twilight round of par-3 on a Saturday night. No problems getting on the course, and didn't feel rushed at all. The grass is in fantastic condition, and there is a cute stream running between the holes. It was my first time playing golf at night, which was a neat experience!
The mature trees guarding the greens make for a challenge, but the longest hole was only 136 yards so M. didn't feel too overwhelmed. Interesting that they have 18 holes, but you can choose to only play 9.
There is also a driving range, crazy golf course, putting green, restaurant and pro-shop. Highly recommended if you, or someone you know, is getting started with golf.
This is a fun little pitch and putt course on the border of South Pasadena and Highland Park.
This is a great place to work out the kinks of your game if you're a beginner. The only thing I don't like is that you hit off of mats.
The course is kept in good condition and the fees are pretty affordable. This is a walking course, and you can leave most of your clubs in the car anyway.
The yardages were incorrectly marked so you have to be careful. I kept flying past the greens on several holes until I figured out which ones to look at.
Nice driving range (mats) and a fun pitch and putt course close to my home. No more than a 7-8 iron needed here, as the holes are short...
This is a great par three course. I am a low handicapper and still have a great time out here. Everyone needs work on the 150 yards and in shots no matter how good they are, and this is a great place to practice those shots.
In addition, they have a great little bar where you can get a beer for a reasonable price. If you are in the area, definitely give it a go. It only takes about 2 hours and 20 mins to play 18.
This place is WONDERFUL for beginners like me. You can't beat the price anywhere else! TRUST ME! I only spent $8 for 100+ balls and $2 for a club. But I would suggest you to bring your own club because the rental one is kind of cheap and not easy to control. A few miles away is the Rose Bowl, where they charge you hundreds of dollars for membership and other fees I have no idea. But I stopped there for breakfast before coming to this Arroyo Seco golf course. The rental just for the club is already $30, which is 15 times more! Anyways, it's a GREAT place for beginners!
i've always said that i would fit in better in the 'old days'. you know, the ones where you can causally drop by the local driving range with a $2 coors lite tall boy, $4 for a bucket of balls, and spend an afternoon in a lush oasis of green. well the driving range isn't really too green, i mean the grass you hit onto itself is all fine and dandy, and there is a great backdrop of trees at what seemed to be about 200yds. but the mats themselves can be tough to work with. they are very slim, and there isn't any place to put your balls. but that itself is part of the pleasure here - you must take a slower approach. i had to trek all the way down to the end for the single lefty spot. they have a shaded hitting area and a good amount of outdoor spots as well- i doubt there is ever a shortage. i found myself lingering after i was done just enjoying the sun. i then found myself plotting on a half-empty bucket of balls that was beyond a 'fenced off' area. hmmmm. i didn't want my time to end here just yet. should have gone for the medium bucket you fool! it was only $2 more!! ahh, you don't really want to hit more you just want to steal that bucket cause you'll enjoy each hit more knowing what a clever fellow you are. but wait, here comes someone. act casual, pick up the phone. "hey mom" (i really did talk to my mom when i was there)
ok times up. but wait. there is the bar......I was close but figured that i really didn't need to tie one on at 2PM on Labor Day by myself. that would just be too sad. but I'll be back.
ps. i did not play the par 3 here but it looked not crowded and cheap which fits my bill. message me if you want to set up tee time.
